Me and my mom LOVE going here for the water park! It is so much fun! Weve gone for like 3 years, and it is still amazing! We love the pool and all the slides! Thank you for what you do!
Been a member for 3 months and absolutely love this place. It is not just your typical gym. No instead, it is a hidden gem for the entire local area. It’s clean, well maintained with easy access off the Monon. The employees are so nice and seem like they enjoy where they work. I brag about this place and the effect it has had on me since moving to Carmel.
Carmel has a great community center. Lap pool for the adults, a big pool for kids with a beach like entry; even two water slides.Basketball, racquetball, jogging track, exercise equipment/weights. Nothing is left out.Outside they have a really good playground, and impressive splash park to cool off in the summer.Lots of classes and group activities. Really a great facility to take advantage of. Its extra nice since the renovations are complete.
My wife and I purchased a property here in Carmel and have spent a considerable amount of money taking care of it not to mention the property tax dollars that we have spent on it which brings me to this check in point and the way I was treated.I walked about two miles from our property where we are currently having some work done. Up to this center. I needed to use the restroom, came into the building and was politely given the directions that public restrooms were out the front door, turn right and they are right across from the Waterpark. I left the build and walked BACK to the Waterpark and the only thing across from the park were some flowering bushes!I continued past the Waterpark and found out that the restrooms were adjacent to the park, oh and by the way they were LOCKED!I went back to were I got my misdirections they finally let me use the restrooms in the building only after explaining there policies which with COVID-19 i understand, and telling me that there were restrooms all along the walking trail. But its only after I explained i needed a restrooms otherwise I might be making a mess. Last I really did appreciate them coming to the restroom to check on me. If this us how Im going to be treated NO THANKS! I will not be coming back here again and I found this experience insulting humiliating!
Was charged 9 dollars at 6 pm to swim for 1 hour. What a rip off.you can do better than that . Wow huge let down
Love this place my daughter goes to their ballerina program. It’s next to Monon trail that you can walk in minutes. Also their second floor have a walking path open to the public. Their swimming pool is very nice, lanes area pretty cold but where the slides and kids section pretty warm. Summer time their outdoor splash park is very jammed it has infinity surf area. Definitely our kids love to visit this place.
This place is very busy during COVID. Definitely not enough space for social distancing. I tried to cancel my membership here because I haven’t stepped foot in for 3 months and when I went to go to cancel my membership Holly was the most rude person ever. Even though i haven’t step foot in there for 3 months because of covid they wouldn’t refund me my money.
What a nice gym and athletic center, and really convenient to walk to right off the monon trail!
Amazing place for workout and many high level programs for kids and adults!
Skatepark should be redesigned. Overall great place to work out and have fun. Water park is awesome. I skateboard mostly and ... a lot of people at the skate park say that it should be larger/redesigned. More grind boxes, rails, and parking curbs would be nice to have (especially for beginners). The bowl is quite hard to pump in and is really uncomfortable to run over a drain. If one day someone wants to redesign it, have an experienced skateboarder design it though I am fortunate to have a skate park close near me! :)
Love this place. The rental facilities are affordable and it is the absolute best place to have a low maintenance birthday party. Almost every child loves water! They have age appropriate water activities from 4 months to 99 years.
Carmel can really be proud of this recreational facility plus the surrounding park. How many rec centers have exercise equipment, swimming, basketball courts, dance classes, and great trails to walk surrounded by nature. You can go fishing also! Plus lots more.
Great place. We go a lot. Water park is very nice but lots of people come in from all over, which can crowd the park quite a bit at times. Indoor facility is excellent. Weight room is good but only two free weight bench presses that seem to always be taken. Not enough for the demand. Not many plate loaded machines...more cable driven. Still a good place to work out. LOTS of bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals.
This place is pretty awesome. They have all of the amenities that you would need. Basketball courts, a large weight room, a track, many cardio machines, classes offered all the time, two water parks, child care, a pool and they even have plenty of events to go to, and much more. The place is kept up very well and is very clean. Good value for your money.
Took my autistic non verbal kid the water park yesterday, during the 15 minutes break, my son was at the slide when they announced that everyone should be out of the pool. Guard yield at him and let him get down, had trouble to follow direction as normal kid, he started to be aggressive toward the guard. Kept explaining that he has Autism and he needs more time to comply with the instruction but he did not understand. Brought a team lead an explain that he did not know that my son has autism. people with disabilities live among the community and guard/ staff need to be aware of that and be trained on how to treat them with respect.
This place has essentially every type of exercising available except for some water sports, though it still has a pool. The membership is necessary for recurrent trips. Inside theres an entire room of treadmills, ellipticals, cycling, weights, and other machines. Theres a gym with a 200m track on the second floor. Also it connects with the Monon trail, which is pretty good for outside running/walking
I used to really enjoy gong to the this gym. Have been a member for over 10 years. But not any more! I do not like going to this gym. They now allow people to slam and drop the weights and cause the entire floor to vibrate. Not only is this a annoying it cause several of the machines to be inoperable. Really considering canceling my membership.
I was recently visiting Indianapolis for a meeting and was looking for a place to play Pickle-ball. I found the Monon Community Center via Google search and I have to say it was a great experience. The Monon center is amazing and the Pickle-ball players were very welcoming and helpful. They have a $5 drop-in and play fee which was very reasonable for a day of Pickle-ball. This was by far the nicest Community Center I have ever seen and would highly recommend it if you are in Carmel, Indiana.
Carmel has done what many other small cities outside of Indy haven’t been able to do. They’ve built a community center that is practical and BONUS inclusive of those who are different abled.
Ive been visiting the Community Center about twice a month for the past year. The clean facilities, cordial staff, and adequate equipment/amenities creates a pretty welcoming environment. They host a wide array of activities and classes for those interested. The open gym and friendly atmosphere keep me coming back!
I want to rate it less stars so maybe the gym wouldnt be so busy but this place is great! The park = awesome. The childcare facility = awesome. The lessons my kids have taken = great for young kids starting out without making a huge commitment. The gym and classes = great!
I really enjoy working out here, and can always find something to do - even if it is crowded. I am very happy with the new fitness class schedule for this season, as it has more class options in the evenings! Really excited about there being multiple barre classes now!One down side is that when it is crowded, there isnt much space to do free weights or any routine you may want to do. It would be great if you could access the classrooms that arent being used at that time, if you like to create your own workouts that might require a little more space.
Incredible value. Excellent focus on clean. Great fitness center and awesome summer pool activities like the lazy river and surfing area.Just want to add a little thing that says a lot about the place ... the crew that maintains the windows, keeps them clean, does an A+ job. I hope someone there shared this add to my prior post.
Very nice facility, but we took our 18 month old to swim inside and the water was cold. We didnt stay long because he was shivering. We were very surprised considering it was indoors.
Yoga classes are good. Smaller weight room than I would like though. Overall very nice.
Great place to go with a well rounded selection of activities and workout equipment. The lap pool is great. The indoor track is fantastic for the winter. I would give it 5 stars if they upgraded their spin bikes. They are very outdated and dont work properly so it makes it difficult to train on them. Plus there are only 4.
I cant speak to much else aside from the water park, but this is one of our favorite summer activities. We typically go after 4 when the entrance rates are discounted and its a bit less crowded. The lazy river wasnt open on our last visit due to upgrades and repairs being made This place is always very clean and the staff is always super friendly. I appreciate that we are allowed a cooler with drinks and snacks, but their concessions area has decent options at great prices as well! The new playground and splash pad on the west side of the grounds is pretty stellar as well. The layout of the play area is different and interesting and encourages inclusive and imaginative play.
Lot of amenities, everything is well maintained. Very friendly staff and a lot of reward for your membership fees. Highly recommended!
No body picked up the phone when i tried to call and then i went over there and it said cleaning 1-4 so i came back at 4 and it’s members only honestly make it more available on your website or just pick up the phone
Best lap swimming environment on the north side of Indianapolis, Hamilton County & Zionsville.Great for walkers on 1/8 mile indoor rubber track. Two indoor basketball gyms. Not to mention an Olympic size out door pool during the summer. It one of the finest utilities for just about any activity that requires running, walking or lifting for weight workouts. I doubt there is any other facility like it in the state. Very well managed. Clean showers as well.
The community center is a great value. Large variety of classes, free weights, machines, track, pools, pretty much everything youd want to do. The facilities are very clean and well maintained. Oh and theres an outdoor water park! All this for a very reasonable price.
The outdoor pool area is nice but my 4 yr old daughter put her foot in a jet of water on the kids slide area. Some of the water splashed the life guard at the kids slide. Then she yelled at my daughter and brought her to tears. When I confronted the life guard she yelled at me and was extremely rude all because she got water on her in the kids area. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told she was probably just being grouchy because the water is cold. Nothing was done and I will never go back to that pool again. Why are you a lifeguard if getting wet makes you scream at little kids? There are other pools with nicer staff.
Great price for a great work out center. It almost seems too good to be true. The pool is fantastic, good variety on work out equipment. Havent tried the basketball courts or the classes but they look fantastic as well.
Jack is a great worker. He is very nice and helpful and is always in a great mood.
Just sprained my ankle tonight and the wonderful staff members did a lot to accommodate my situation. They handled the situation with upmost professionalism and wheeled me out to my vehicle safe and sound. There were five members who were all attentive to my injury, one was olly, I believe sarah was the other one, I believe she’s the front desk manager if not mistaken, Ashley, and a sweet girl whom I believe was a lifeguard
Ive been to hosted events at the center and it was clean and well run.Today I took the kids to the new park at the west entrance. It is a very modern climbing park with lots of levels and activities for all age groups. One of the best parks in the area.
Great place for a workout, play some basketball or swim. Was a member for two years and enjoyed the place and the people who work there.
First time here. Purchased a lock from here that jammed up and couldnt get to my items. Park closed early due to severe weather and couldnt get someone to cut the lock off! Stood there until all of the staff was leaving. Spent my day at park by the lockers. No refund offered either. Wont come back.
What a wonderful community center. There are always classes going on or different things to do. It has a great workout gym and some really nice pools.
Excellent facility with well-maintained workout equipment and clean locker rooms. Friendly, helpful staff as well.
Great Gym and facilities, great outdoor pool, BUT...Getting more and more overcrowded year after year to the extent you can’t enjoy these things. Please expand or open additional locations. Nice job not escalating prices to address overcrowding though!
I miss it here! I used to come almost every day to use the fitness center. It is a clean, well maintained and inviting facility. My son always looked forward to visiting the Kid Zone and the nice ladies in there seem to genuinely care about the children being engaged, staying safe, and feeling welcome. Sue and Ebony were always quick to greet him by name and make him feel at home. My only gripe is with the hours of the Kid Zone (being closed between 1 and 4). My schedule has changed and I can no longer come in the mornings- I have to work out in the afternoon. If they ever decide to extend the childcare hours, Ill be back!
One of the biggest selling points for Carmel! It has something for everyone. The place is very well kept and very accessible. The classes for kids as great and very affordable. If you live in Carmel you need a membership here.
It is a nice facility but their personal trainers arent the best and the KidZone hours completely black out afternoon workouts or group classes/events. Staff is hit and miss. Some are helpful and others are either clueless or to busy to answer questions.
The water park here is phenomenal. Great place to hang out with family and friends.
Nice water park, stopped for a few hours on a road trip with the the kids. Very clean, very busy but very enjoyable. And at about 10 dollars a person, it was well worth it.
Very nice facilities with indoor/outdoor pools, lots of exercise equipment, classes, basketball ball courts and more. My particular favorite is the indoor running track. Its so much nicer in bad weather than a treadmill. However, there are a decent number of people who dont follow the track rules and that can be frustrating at times. Thats mostly not a ding on the facility, but they could have staff periodically check and educate errant individuals. Also, as a non Carmel resident (Westfield), I was sad to see the indoor track is no longer free for everyone (as of 1/1/2018), but I understand the crowds have risen significantly and the track is still worth paying a reasonable membership fee.
We bought a day pass here has we were staying in a nearby hotel and my son wanted to play in the water. It was a great time however he was too short to go down the slides. If we lived closer we would buy season passes.
Nice, clean facility. Price is very reasonable for what you get. Indoor pool is very nice in the winter for kids. The outdoor pool does get busy in the summer on weekends.
Really fun! They constantly have swim lessons during open swim which is frustrating. Its okay though. Also always crowded
Great place to workout. The only issue I have is the fitness center is a bit crammed. But everyone seems to work around each other.
Nice place. Good programs, dance for kids and swimming for toddlers and youth are the ones I have done. Relatively affordable and good instructors.
I work here but besides that I love it! Loads of fun programming for all people all the time. Come us in fitness soon!
I would actually say this is four and a half Stars. we go here regularly for classes for the children. It is a great way for them to try out different sports and activities without a long commitment, very important for five and eight year olds. I have not use the gym but it looks very well kept and there is a childrens area where your kids can play while you work out. It is always clean and well-staffed. The indoor pool has several water slides and play areas in addition to a lap pool. We have been to the outdoor Waterpark as well. Im not as big of a fan of that. It is very crowded with long waits for many of the activities. There is a nice snack bar with delicious soft serve ice cream. The people that come up to the pool in the summer sometimes seemed a bit sketchy. They also run the summer camps throughout Carmel as well as the after-school programs at the schools. Signing up for classes is easy and can be done online after creating an account. It would be cool if they sent a reminder e-mail out before your class session started.
Good indoor track and water park. Really good place to go to have fun or if you just want to get a really good workout also has good summer things
Ive brought my grandson, twice, to go on the indoor water slides which are supposed to be open from 4-8 M-F, only to find them closed. It cant be because of lack of lifeguards, since there are 3 here, with 2 of them just standing and talking.
Absolutely best community center. Great gyms, awesome water park, and outdoor park. Best part though is their staff. The staff is really friendly and helpful.
For the entire family membership is money well spent. Contributing to the local community is important to us as well
Great gym and lifestyle center for families. Reasonable membership fees and no long term contracts.
Very nice, clean well run place. The help I met were friendly and wore Carmel Clay Parks shirts so you knew who they were. Very busy place!
Great place to work out. Better place to be employed.
Decent equipment, friendly staff, and a fairly laid back environment. Not a huge area for lifting, but plenty of machines for assisted lifts and cardio.
Complete exercise area with a variety of cross training machines, weight machines for complete body work out, and free weights, trainers, indoor track, 3 basketball gyms, private and group aerobics classes, and large indoor olympic lap pool, outdoor swim park with surf wave, slides, float circuit, and multi mile loop track through prairie and woods. Rates vary depending on residency and membership.
Everyone I’ve encountered who works here is always friendly and helpful! Love that there are so many classes included with your membership.
I arrived at the weightlifting center, eager to experience a stimulating workout to help germinate rippling musculature but made a mistake by going into the mens locker room. As I approached, I didnt think much, assuming it was like a normal locker room, a place to change, shower, and release human waste. I opened the door and was met with a man, about 60 years old who was fully naked and standing in the open, staring at me with a diabolical stare emerging from his dilated pupils. I attempted to ignore him, looking down but he called for me, telling me that he was locked out of his own locker and was unable to retrieve his clothes. He wanted me to get a monon worker to unlock the locker for him. I complied, walking to the weightlifting desk where I expected an employee to be. To my amazement, nobody was there so I had to walk to another desk, which took about another minute. I told one of the workers, who seemed to suffer from social anxiety as he didnt seem to maintain eye contact with me and also had poor posture, possible rupturing his spine and damaging his thoracolumbar fascia if he were to maintain that posture chronically. I lead the man up the stairs to the gym, feeling awkward on the way up as he made no effort to initiate any conversation and walked very slowly. I lead him to the scene of the accident which luckily he was able to solve quite easily so I went on with the rest of my day and headed to the sinks. I arrived at the sinks as a horrendous stench began to permeate my nostrils, which smelled like a mixture of rotten rectal discharge mixed with severe body odor. I started to feel a bit dizzy, but pushed through it as I headed to the urinal. I wait to use a urinal as a fully naked man begins to start shaking frantically at the urinal, moving his hand quickly back and forth. Im not sure if he was attempted to pleasure himself or dry himself but I decided to go use the stall instead. I entered the stall and the protruding smell starts to get worse, and I shift my view to the toilet where a heaping pile of feces sat, half of which was not even in the toilet and was piling over the edges. At this point I was not very surprised but was immensely disgusted and dissatisfied with my experience so far. I found one of the janitors who luckily said he would clean it up but felt sorry for him as that would be very difficult to clean up. As for the man who made the mess, hopefully he would see a gastroenterologist . I left the locker room, happy to be able to get out of that place. I entered the weightlifting area, which was very crowded but was luckily able to get on the leg press machine. Two forty five pound plates were already present on both sides but I needed more so I grabbed one and put it on one side but as I went to grab another one a teenage girl grabs the forty five on the leg press and takes it to deadlift. I approached her, already in a poor mood, and told her that I was using that. She acted surprised and sassy and even made me take the weight back from her. She seemed to assume I wouldnt be strong enough to lift the weight I put on. While I leg pressed she kept staring at me, but tried to hide it and she did not do that too well. After I finished leg press, I went to squat and after I warmed up I loaded three 300 total on the bar. The whole gym seemed to stare at me, like I was some kind of celebrity. I was not sure if they had never seen someone squat 300 pounds or if they were just obsessed with my physique. Either way, it was a bit distracting but fortunately didnt harm my workout. I finished squat and arrived at the hamstring curl machine. While curling, I was unwillingly forced to listen to a conversation between a seventy year old man and a twenty year old man discuss their sexual desires with women. The old man was obsessed with fat women, and even discussed the aftermath, such as rectal seepage which didnt sound too pleasant. I finished my workout and left, feeling dissatisfied but also entertained. I will contemplate whether buying a membership or not in the future.
My go to trail after a long and stressful work week. Quiet in the morning.
What a wonderful facility! Great kids zone. Love the exercise options.
Excellent place to exercise and unwind. It is very family oriented and the kids enjoy going.
Their water park is great for kids in the summer. Great gym, sauna, and indoor track. Modern facilities and easy access to the Monon trail!
Monon trail is great to ride my bike when going to the mormon temple.
I’m so glad I joined the Monon Community Center. I love the campus and the included classes.
Love this park, only complaint is that they turn the water off early at the splash pad! Many kids disappointed.
Ive been enjoying the Monon Community Center and bringing my kids here for over 5 years and Im always pleasantly surprised
Great place to get excercise, take a class, meet people and just have fun. The employees are wonderful and the center offers an incredible diversity within their membership base
Not optimal for weight training. Space is tight and equipment is limited and somewhat dated. Many novices with no sense of gym etiquette or basic knowledge--rife for injuries. Equipment frequently not replaced. Administrative staff virtually non-reponsive to customer issues.
Amazing facility! Great variety of classes. Inspired instructors.
Great work out facilities, great pool, great gymnasium. Check it out if you havent been yet. Youll love it.
This is a very nice gym! Great facilities and staff.
Quality is going downhill, especially in fitness center. Already the most useful entrances are blocked, requiring users to move from any point to a single entrance. Recently, one of the staff members was very incompetent. A cranky old man was already harassing the gym-goers, and complained I was hogging the assisted dips/pull-ups machine. I was on a finishing set after doing 3 before of a simple leg exercise, shown to me by a trainer. I walked away after each set, allowing others to take a set of their own if desired. The staff member proceeded to tell me I was not allowed to do that, for whatever reason. The cranky old man then took the machine and I was left flabbergasted that a employee of a fitness center would not allow me to complete my exercises and had no knowledge of this exercise.
The Monon Center is a bit more family geared than what I am looking for. I suppose that isnt really a fault with the center, but hear me out. The aquatic center looked quite nice. I dont swim much though, and the lap pool was pretty small and taken up by people doing classes. There is a very nice trio of basketball courts and an elevated indoor track. I have been trying to find a place to do some strength training, and unfortunately the weight here are lacking. There are only two regular benches and three racks for squatting. There were no plates for the benches which I found really strange. I ended up borrowing a few from the racks. The weights were disorganized and missing. Lots of space is taken up by cycles, ellipticals, and other machines. The freeweights just feel neglected. Everything else about the facility is nice and well kept. Rates are pretty reasonable too. I got a $10 day pass to check it out, though I probably should have asked if they had any free trials. $40/ month normal membership with no sign-on fees and can be canceled any time. Again, this is a nice facility. If they expanded the free weights area I would love to come back.
BEST PLACE EVER!!! Everyone is super nice and it is an inviting place to work out!
Modern and clean facilities for swimming or exercise. Its set up very well for families and offers activities for all ages at a reasonable price.
Great place, but very busy after 5:00pm.
Always clean. The staff is always friendly. I love going here for a workout.
Beautiful state-of-the-art center & outdoor waterpark. And the grounds are amazing. Driving in from the east entrance is reminicent of driving into the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore beaches!
A comprehensive community center with workout, physical training facilities, pool and water park, classes.
Nice clean rec center. Great size. Has everything you want.
Me and my family remember the pools to packed in the summertime people from the city and everywhere come the gym cool steam room
It is a grate place it is cheep to get in I love to go work out see friends and play basketball it is also a grate place to chill meat up with people I presently got a monthly pass and I will be going there often
Ive been here many times. The staff is super friendly, especially when weve had a problem with a specific game. The game selection is quite large and the food is a higher level of bar food and other options. We feel like we get a fair amount of tickets to get a prize that is actually worth it. We stopped doing to Chucky Cheese due to bad game selection and terrible prizes. They now have a Jurassic Park VR that is a lot of fun. It takes a special ticket though that costs $5. Its worth it.
My favorite place to workout first rate equipment and the staff is the same
Cool place to hang out, work out, swim, and do many other fun activities. Classes and summer day camps are available at a reasonable price.
