Has great equipment. But the entire place is very dirty. They provide paper towels and bottles of cleaner for u to wipe down your machine, which I do before and after working out on them. Equipment is properly spaced for covid, so far it is doing very well
Gyms fine, rates don’t bother me, place is fairly clean. But worse staff I have ever experienced out of any gym. They don’t even try to welcome you. They hang out with their gym buddies and play ping pong and watch TV. If you have a question or concern they roll your eyes at you. Bunch of kids running that place. The worse part is they are straight ignorant and don’t know what they are even doing. If they tried a little they could probably actually sell some products and training and make some money. But that’s probably asking to much. I’ve had better customer service at a bar during last call.
If I had to describe the quality of the staff, equipment, and the gym overall in one picture, itd be the one attached. Staff doesnt have a presence at the gym whatsoever. Theres not a single weight where its supposed to be. Compared to the Crunch in San Clemente, its night and day in terms of customer service and overall quality of the gym.
Great gym, lots of space and a variety of equipment. It is also very nice and well maintained. They need more bumper plates and squat racks though.
This gym is so special to me and the people who work there are so amazing and nice I love this gym so much.
I joined the club 7 years ago when it just opened, so I got a very good rate. They promised I can have the same price when I renew the annual membership, however, they raised the price by different ways. In a few month ago, the manager asked me to pay immediately when they were not fully reopened. LOL, the worse manager I have ever seen. Sure they got a lot of members, and they dont need members like me.
Great specious gym, clean, and the people in the front desk are awesome.
I would not recommend going to this gym. There are hidden fees they do not tell you about. I went for a month, did not like it and could not find a way to cancel my membership. Two months later my balance is at $219! They said if I cancelled my membership before May I would not pay annual fee. BIG LIE!
I had to sign up at this gym because the Crunch in Oceanside had to close because of COVID. I just wanna take a moment to thank Lexy for helping me sign up. She did a stellar job and helped walk me through the paperwork. I felt very welcomed and informed thanks to Lexy! I was reluctant to sign up but thanks to Lexy I felt comfortable enough to work out at this gym! Give this outstanding woman a raise asap!
I would give it Zero stars if I could . Originally I did like this place and it was great. However NOT HAPPY AT ALL. They just charged my card for no reason a large sum which I have no money so now I am over drafted. They didnt email me that they were open up again and going to start charging. Also, I have tried to call several times. My fiancé has credit with them which they never paid him back and charged him recently 3 different times. Now they owe him more money. We used the gym for a week or 2 in June before they shut down again and from Jan-March. Not to mention I had 2 different personal trainers and I was 100 % devoted and was I guaranteed results and education and got nothing. No one has reached out to me (One time just to sign me up with another trainer and I told him I was not happy with my other trainer and never heard back) and I still had a training sessions when COVID first happened and no communication at all. My fiancé and I want our money back. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS GYM.
Great..not crowded
Would rate 10 if I could. Signed up and got two free rolls of toilet paper, which as we know in these times are worth gold.
I have been going here a few years and its my favorite gym franchise I have been a part of over the past decade.I have a few ideas that could drastically improve the place and experience, but this isnt the place to put asynchronous suggestions.
Crunch fitness carlsbad is not following COVID-19 guidelines. They are operating indoors and they are not enforcing the mandatory mask policy. Even the employees are not wearing masks. When social distancing isnt possible if you ask a member to wear a mask you are harassed and the employees join in saying you are not the police and they retaliate by deactivating your membership for asking someone to wear a mask. We should feel safe going to the gym and it should be respected when someone doesnt feel comfortable being close another person. We shouldnt be getting harassed for following safety guidelines especially by personal trainers. We are entitled to feel safe. Our state already has high cases and they arent helping. They dont sanitize, they dont regular do temperature checks, and they arent wearing masks. The gym is always messy the weights and equipment is all over the place.
This is my gym and noticed all the bad reviews are from bitter out of shape ppl with no motivation. Dont listen to the negative reviews these ppl just hate life in general, the staff is great and they go by covid guidelines, everything is outside for the meantime which is fine. Anytime I had a issue with payments it was fixed. Britanny and Brad are great managers. These ppl will treat you like family. Wish they had a male trainer but with everything going on I understand. Been to other gyms and wasnt a fan. At this gym you dont have to worry about all the crazy testosterone that you see at other gyms lol, its alot of regulars and I like that, its always the new ppl that complain. Hope you guys read this review because im there everyday. Literally all the bad reviews come from bitter ppl that you see once a month expecting some kind of results 🤣
All around great gym.
Has 2 lap pools. Equipment seems a little tired but going through Covid-19 I doubt they had money to invest. Hopefully that will change as they get back on their feet
Been going to this gym location for 15 years now from back when it was Pure Fitness. They have kept it in good shape and they always take care of their members. I really feel so bad for them having had to close down but they keep opening for their members even though I am sure they are going through financial hardship. I am choosing to keep my memebership on autopay to help them even if I don’t go as much.
Awesome gym. Plenty of equipment and well maintained. Very clean, well ventilated and no bad odors. They have 2 swimming pools, variety of classes and day care.I took beginner yoga with different instructors and they were very nice and helpful. Boxing class was intense and an awesome workout.Basketball coart is in great shape. They could replace a few of the old balls with new ones (at this point they are egg shaped).
Maintenance grossly inadequate, and there are too many reports of people having trouble cancelling. Have been there several years, since before it was Crunch, planning to switch asap as it keeps getting worse. Crowding increased and maintenance effort plummeted after Crunch took over. Zero measures for crowd control. Big screens in main area have been inoperative for at least a couple of years. No AC or heat in mens locker room, which often has unsanitary debris on the floor because they dont mop often enough.Shower faucets mostly leak due to incompetent repair by just trying to tighten valves that actually need stem repack or replacement. Shower valves so shot that when on they fall toward the hot position under gravity. Not enough water pressure to run both drinking fountains on main floor at the same time. Rubber grips on machines repaired by wrapping electrical tape around them instead of re-gluing properly. Look elsewhere.
Clean, convenient workout zone. Classes for those who like that, plenty of machines as well. Weight area is adequate for heavy lifting and crossfit like workouts.Staff is great.Kids care is the absolute best. My children look forward to going to see friends.
So happy to find this gym. The gym equipment is great. Better yet the women who operate the kids club are fantastic. My son loves to be there and I can happily enjoy my workout knowing hes having fun too. Ive had Jessica and Marcus as personal trainers and they have made working out really fun. Everyone that works there is friendly and I truly enjoy my time while Im there.
Big facility with lots of exercise space/rooms and equipment. Fun Functional fitness space. Punching bags/etc. Are a plus. Crunch offers many ancillary services and is a large gym with a lot to offer. Enjoyed the table tennis at the front entrance. Service however is decent- not bad, but not great either. & the place needs more upkeep and maintenance.
Amazing gym. I go there everyday. Staff and cleanliness of the facility are great. Tons of classes, massage tables, equipment, and at a great price. Only complaint... bring back the speed bag in the boxing room. I miss it.
This gym has a ping pong table! Its the little things that make it a great place. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.
It is very important to check all your options before choosing Chrunch, in Carlsbad, Ca. There are a plethora of wonderful fitness clubs in Carlsbad, Ca. It is very important to read the reviews on google and Yelp before joining this particular location . My son wanted to join Chrunch Fitness and without doing my homework we joined the club. The bad reviews unfortunately are 100% accurate!
I got lazy and dont workout there anymore but wanna get shredded hit crunch and crunch out them gains.
Nice people, lots of nice. Equipment...clean...great training staff.
Great gym with well maintained equipment, nice staff and an overall clean facility with awesome amenities. The lockers could use a refreshing and it’s a little pricey but it never gets too busy which is nice. It’s also well hidden and far enough away from junk food that you don’t get tempted after a workout.
Friendly staff. Sometimes a little slow to get equipment repaired, but all in all a good place to work out. Clientele is a mixed bag. Trainers are great.
Way better than the CV location. You can workout chest or legs without waiting forever for the machine to open up. Boxing studio is a plus, locker room is solid, staff is helpful. Overall great gym but please replace the AUX cord in the boxing studio
Great facility! Plenty of gear to use. I currently use this location because the Oceanside facility isnt open yet. Very large parking lot. Bathrooms seem clean. Most of the cardio machines are upstairs. There are a lot of free weights, and a moderate amount of machines for strength training.
This gym used to be called a variety of other names. I love this gym because its super clean, upgraded locker room if you pay more, its never crowded on the equipment. The floor plan is very open. Smells good as well. Child care for extra fee.
Customer Service is horrible.
Gym used to be great, newer equipment, helpful staff. Over the past several months, this has gone downhill. Piled up garbage in the corners, hand sanatizer never full, paper towels out half the time. The equipment needs to be maintained, which its not. They also think its great to have Fox News on more than half the TVs in the place. Clean up your gym!!!
So Done with this place. Rude staff. Losing amenities by the day. No more free boxing. No more snacks. People that stare because it’s Carlsbad and they are stuck up. So over it. So overpriced. Bathroom isn’t like a prison.
Great team of people but youd better be serious about your workout, as most there are. Classes are not easy and those leading them are enthusiastic about working you hard. Good value for what you get.
I dont dislike this place, it would be nice if we could have a clean jacuzzi and a suit dryer that works.
Been going to this gym for last 6 years. Great staff, well kept, friendly environment. I would recommend going here for anyone looking for a really nice gym.
Where to begin? Really great staff-- not pretentious like at some other gyms. Well maintained equipment, clean, and the people that frequent Crunch are all courteous and respectful too
Facilities are nice. But the staff, specifically the general manager Brad, was a nightmare to deal with. There was an error with my account and he made a scene of it in front of other patrons and talked down to me. He was rude, and was trying to prove me wrong and up-sell me. Then when trying to call my home gym to settle the dispute they found that Carlsbad had canceled my membership WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Calling the Carlsbad gym back to see what had happened he was rude, accusative, and insulting that I wanted my money back. Brad, you need to work on your costumer service skills. You embarrassed me, and I hope you feel ashamed.
This is a great gym- er palace of fitness. The only thing is the locker room is way too small and cramped. Great equipment though and lots of room everywhere else. They would really benefit from knocking down the wall between the fancy locker room and the regular one and just making one big one.
Not as crowded as a 24 hour fitness or LA fitness. Weight area is kept clean and organized. Plenty of cardio equipment. Good yoga classes and instructors. 4 lane outdoor pool is kept cool for swimming workouts. Indoor pool is warmer and good for water arobics. Love this gym.
Amazing gym. Workers keep it clean and are friendly. Has a nice basketball court, has plenty of weights, and plenty of machines. Shout out Bruce!!!
Beautiful Facility!! The Gym is Very Clean and the Staff is Extremely Friendly and the Equipment is All Well Maintained!! Great Selection of Equipment, with PreCore, Cybex, Hammer Strength, LifeFitness and Much More!! Tons of Cardio Equipment and Lots of Stairmills!! Indoor and Outdoor Lap Pools, Jacuzzi, Sauna and Steam Rooms!! Too Many Amenities to List and Great Membership Options with Competitive Pricing!! I Highly Recommend Checking this Gym Out!!- Mike
Nice and clean and very professional staff. Thanks to
Just started going here and really enjoy it. This location has anything a person needs to get in shape. Only thing I dont like is how far it is from my house.
Great people / atmosphere. Full sized basketball court, the only one in the area. They just started being open 24 hours/ day also!
Great gym. Equipment is well maintained and they provide a wide variety of machines plus free weights and excellent instructors.
Convenient for lunchtime workouts. Good yoga instructors. Front desk staff now more friendly than they used to be.
I love the morning swim class, I look forward to it each day.
Very nice gym. Not overcrowded during peak hours like other places.
On a free trial has a decent gym and court. Pool too.
Beautiful facility with weights and classes offering multiple child care and martial arts programs for kids
Horrendous management, always packed. They do have nice pools, so that gets a one star.
I am a new member and new to the area so I am trying different locations to find the right fit, I drove for an hour (22 miles) and checked in at the desk the gal ignored me then came back to the desk asked for directions to the spin room and she pointed to it, then back again to get a towel, she checked to be sure I was a proper member to qualify for a towel, finally I got myself set up on the bike, the instructor ( arrives 5 min before class) asks who is in the room with no ticket ? That is me as I did not know I needed one, needless to say I drove home another hour and no spin.so much for being helped at the desk....
Big gym with almost everything you could need, but also often busy. The locker rooms are pretty small too
Upgraded Crunch gym. Manager is very professional and helpful
Brad Moser is the guy to talk to at this gym. He is the manager here, and does his job extremely well. I couldn’t have asked for better customer service from him, thoroughly impressed.
Oh my god. I have NEVER dealt with a worse business IN MY LIFE. In november of 2018, they were supposed to cancel my membership. Instead the froze it without telling me. Then in june of 2019 I got charged for a membership fee, I had forgotten about dealing with this, then in july they charged a membership and annual fee. I then emailed the manager, no response. I then called and asked for a manger, who was not there. I called later in the day when they told me the manager would be there. They refused to let me speak with him and told me to email. So I emailed him again, and again, nothing. I called and emailed TWO more times, and still nothing. It took more than two days for a response saying I needed proof that the account was canceled, which obviously I did not have since it was frozen and not cancelled. I got an email from someone else asking for proof as well, which again, I told them I did not have. I took up the charges with my bank, which they only put back the charge for july, not june. They were supposed to process the refund for june on their end on 7/15, they waited until 7/18 to ACTUALLY start the process. It is now the 25th and I still do not have my money. They are literal theives that have been withholding my money for a month. I really do not think I will be getting my refund. Do NOT do business with them.
Only game in town...
Nice facility, one of the best in North County, though you pay a premium to come here vs. their other clubs.
Elena was quick to respond and fix my issue I had with my membership. Appreciated very much.
Good free-weight equipment, might need more for peak hours.Nice atmosphere. Great staff, and they have wi-fi for customers.
I drive the extra couple miles to this corporate location, because its the biggest 2 story Crunch in Southern Cali. It has literally everything you could possibly want. And very spacious.
Lately some machines have been either broken or in bad condition. And for a long time. Also the TVs are set for either the same channels on several or infomercials, or no sound. Paper towel machine upstairs hasnt been working for over a month. Getting a bit disappointed. Go almost everyday.
Great atmosphere when working out . Not as packed as 24 so most of the machines are available
Headache to cancelUpdate to your response: I have come in multiple times and coincidentally theres no managers available and the staff at the front desk doesnt seem to know the procedures youre talking about.. because they tell me to come back or email because only the managers are trained on how to cancel a membership(may want to educate them) I could understand it being a retention tool dont get me wrong but dont claim to make it easy when its not. So Ive emailed and its still been a few days. Thought you would recognize my email since its in your system..... apparently not. Also.. if you want a review of your gym it needs a lot of attention. Such a shame to see such a nice facility being neglected on cleanliness. Looking forward to you canceling my membership please.. since it is sooo easy
Amazing gym. Spacious lots of treadmills, free weights and great workout sessions
Staff is great! Too bad they are always out of paper towels to wipe machines down. It was pretty disgusting today during my work out. Come on guys.....
NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Your expect a place whos base memberships is $45 to be in good condition, not here. Very unorganized and stuff scattered. People dont wipe down benches it rerack weights. Told 3 separate employees thag stuff needed to be organized and none seemed to care
Thanks Crunchy your hours are weird 🤔
Best Jacuzzi in Southern California!
Good atmosphere. Great people. The only downside is the loud music.
Good gym, clean, friendly, and not over priced like gyms that have competitive and comparable equipment and workouts.
I love their facilities: clean, modern and very friendly staff.
This is a great gym, the staff is friendly and the place is well kept.
I love the yoga studio but my skin wont take the sweat sticking. Its shower or yoga shower or yoga ... I still remember from the 2000s, the Crunch on Sunset (o.g. crunch?), people would ask if i used the infamous showers or about Ian Ziering who must have me confused with a pinneapple tart on display at Whole Foods. I had no idea people could see the vague view of a form outside the bathroom. . I didnt see any hyperbaric cardio in Carlsbad or if each machine had its own wifi, and no one wore bike cleats or sang karaoke or had a live dj spinning during my time there. Also, the water leaves a bright- colored residue on the shower heads that need to switch to industrial -style. Im allergic to the waterproof rubber in the knozzle. Having a full-time cleaner makes me feel like were too dirty to clean up after our own.I like the Crunch on Sunset better.
I love this place. It has everything I need in a gym. Endless EQ and very friendly staff.
Huge number of options for weights, heavy bad room, sauna and more. Highly reccomend this gym as there are no judgements
Friendly staff and very clean
Spacious and friendly staff. Women only room could use some repairs on equipment.
Very large facility and well stocked with a variety of equipment
Went in to the Carlsbad office after talking to someone at the Oceanside location. Oside said if i sign up its $11 and $10 month after. Until the oside location opens you get to go to Carlsbad. Ok. So one day i decided to surprise the wife and sign up. No one in the oside location so i cruise to carlsbad. Walk in tell them exactly this story and there like yeah lets sign you up. After multiple trys from the staff to up sell me after stating i only want the $10 plan. They take my info tell me about a $69 annual fee in two months and then ask for $29 per membership. I was floored after all that and telling them multiple times they try this. I asked again about the $10 plan and they answered with ohh it starts at $24.99 month. So in the end i waited for a guy at oside. And got $10 month and $49 annuals. While using Carlsbad in the mean time. Ohh and dont let them get you with the you won a raffle the first time you check in
Big gym (not your typical crunch) with lots of machines, free weights, cardio machines, and 2 pools. Can be a bit unclean at times
Locker room and showers are freezing cold and only 3 showers work. I stopped going. I got sick from the cold for 3 weeks.
The carlsbad location is clean, well kept, and has a basketball court and pool.
Not s great experience. I ended up getting a letter for a lawyer threatening to take me to court over a mistake I made.
Bigger box gym modeled after the 1980s style huge mega gyms like Ballys Total Fitness that went bankrupt for having costly swimming pools and poor management. However, they seem to focus on revenue and not about the highest client satisfaction.
Finally quit this place. Rude manager never responded to my complaints about the 110+dba music verified using my iPhone App. I told him Cal-OSHA only allows workers 15-20 minutes/day of exposure at this level. Tried to call him and he hung up on my wife. Talked to the guy at the front desk and he told me the younger members, that theyre trying to sign up, like it loud and that I should wear noise cancelling headphones! I was also told that the younger members pay their own dues whereas the older members get theirs paid by insurance. Just rude. Also if they were paying attention theyd notice that all the younger members wear there own headphones and arent listening to the crap that Crunch plays. Went back one more time to see if things were better. This time the guy tells me even he cant stand how loud the music is and hes at the front desk.
Great gym ... MUSIC IS TOO LOUD!! Ouch!! My ears are ringing. HELP
My daughter was taken from me here 3 years ago, Sarah if your reading this please come home. Your mother and I miss you
Very spacious and clean :)
Not a bad gym for the price. Less crowed than the rest.
Nice gym, very clean
The staff is friendly enough although its not like they enjoy it.The average age is probably 50 and there are a lot of stares if you are under 30.Proceed as you will 🤷🏼♂️
Good equipment and never too busy
Great place to work out
Large gym with lots of equipment and classes. Mens showers show wear and tear from use.
Nicest Gym in North County!!
