The Red Cottage was amazing! The hot tub made me feel like a hot tub is supposed to. And to wake up to the animals made me and my wife want to sit on the deck all day

Beautiful property close to farm with various animals. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing setting. Cabin was very clean and stocked with everything needed. Highly recommend and would book again.

The Red Cottage was amazing. It was nice size and extremely clean. It was nice to have coffee, sugar, creamer provided as well as a selection of spices. The location is great, close enough to town but you feel much further out. We really enjoyed looking at all the animals. We also really took advantage of the hot tub since it rained a lot during our stay and the deck on the cabin is very large. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in the red cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Beautiful clean cabin with everything you could need. The farm and property are beautiful, its a perfect destination if youre wanting to get away from everything. We also enjoyed the fresh farm eggs for breakfast, and well be highly recommending this place to our family and friends.

Absolutely an awesome place to stay awhile. We totally enjoyed our visit. Highly recommended. Ideally located: Hike thru the Shawnee National Forest, explore the wine trail and town just 3 miles away. The second we pulled in the driveway, there was at least a dozen deer to greet us.

We are just ending our stay in the Valley View cabin. Tonight is our last night and I am sitting on the secluded front porch watching the deer forage while the sun sets, listening to the peacocks call, and soaking in my final moments in this wondrous place. If you need to screen detox your kids after pandemic e-learning or just the everyday bustle, this is the place to do it. My sons woke up at seven each morning asking to go down to the barn to see the chickens, guinea hens, peafowl, turkeys, and various other farm life. On our first night we were given a dozen eggs that we’ve enjoyed all weekend, and though it feels like it is in a remote area it is really only ten minutes from all the great food and amenities carbondale has to offer. We cannot wait to come back!

Cabin on the Hill is phenomenal getaway from the world! With private hot tubs in the cabins and being close to so many amenities we will keep coming back here, it was my second time here. About an hour and twenty from Garden of the Gods and really close to the Shawnee Wine Trail check it out! You wont be disappointed. The farm has great appeal with an array of beautiful animals, though Hank and Duke are probably our favorite. A beautiful spot.

We so enjoyed our stay with Cabin on the Hill. We were so happy to find a cabin that allowed us to bring our dogs with us. They have a great trail that we walked everyday with our dogs. Loved the view from the front porch watching the sunsets and watching all of the wildlife. Loved the screened in deck with the hot tub and nice to have the firepit to sit around and relax. The cabin was very adequately supplied with everything you need for a getaway!

The cabin was extravagant, the hosts were inviting, and the property/animals were awesome. We only live 2 hours away in a very rural area but it was definitely a great weekend getaway!!

Absolutely fantastic!!! I have been going there for 20 years now. They have become family. Petting area. Hiking trail, farm animals to view and photograph. Jill and Dan Fager are great people. I would highly recommend this for a quiet getaway.

Such a wonderful place to rest and refresh! The animals were charming, the accommodations are comfortable, clean, everything we needed and more. The hot tub was so nice, and loved the propane fire pit on the deck of the red cottage. Perfect combination of classy and quaint. Wonderful fresh eggs, and loved walking the nature path each morning. Located in just the right spot for daily excursions to Shawnee National Forrest and Giant City State Park. We’ll be back!

We have stayed at Cabin on the Hill several times and always love it! I have never been disappointed. The cabins are the cleanest we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many around the country. They have everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable and the grounds are so beautiful. We always enjoy sitting on the front porch watching the deer and peacocks roam around. We have seen many beautiful sunsets there as well. I highly recommend this place and the owners are very nice and accommodating tool. We stayed in cabin 2. We absolutely loved it! It was so relaxing. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We watched deer playing out the front window. We will definitely be back!

My family hosted a family reunion at Cabin on the Hill. We stayed in the Luxury Cabin, the Little Red Barn, and even used the smaller cabins. The Luxury Cabin was the main hang out. With its large and fully equipped kitchen that opens to the living room, wrap-around porch, fire pit, and much more, it was the perfect place to be with family. The kids loved exploring the property, the surrounding woods, feeding the horses, and running around with the farm animals. Farm fresh eggs are available every morning. We loved our stay so much, we came back again as a smaller group and stayed in the Little Red Barn. I look forward to staying again!

This property is absolutely beautiful. The owners are so kind. We really enjoyed the serene surroundings and just sitting outside watching the farm animals wander around. It felt like we were a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life but in reality we found restaurants and shopping about 5-10 minutes away. I cant wait to return!

Loved Cabin on the Hill - Would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who likes quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed 5 nights and would have loved to stay longer. What a great place to relax and unwind. The cabin was amazing. Clean and very well managed. Loved watching the deer daily from the screened in porch. Just visualize watching deer as you relax in the hot tub on the screened in porch. We loved it!!!! Also do the wine trail. It is a great experience.

I have stayed many times at Cabin on the Hill. It is so convenient to everything in the area, shopping, wineries, giant city, devils kitchen, little grassy and everything related to SIU. Yet and night its quiet and you see all the wildlife, stars and everything else Gods country has to offer. The cabins are always immaculate and the owners keep all kinds of interesting animals. Peacocks, goats, guineas, turkeys, chickens, horses, dogs, cats etc.Its one of the most unique lodging experiences ever and quite affordable and clean. If you need to stay in southern Illinois this is the place for you. I wish I could give them 6 stars

Cabin 2 is awesome. Sit on the front porch and watch the beautiful sunsets. Amenities are great...short drive to town if you need to go.

We had the BEST time at Cabin on the Hill - so nice to get back to nature and cozy up in the evenings. Fresh farm eggs delivered to our door in the morning! We absolutely loved this getaway and plan to go back this fall. Cant wait to see the colors for the season! This is a MUST STAY kinda place in the Cardondale area!

Pretty nice place. We stayed for a week and found it a great place to Branch out from to see sites or just stay in for a day and read.

Stayed here while moving our daughter into SIU for grad school. Great place to stay with comfortable accommodations and friendly owners. Farm fresh eggs were a hit with the family. Peaceful setting and conveniently located to town. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Carbondale.

We had a wonderful weekend at Cabin on the Hill! The cabins are so cute and super clean. The grounds are beauriful. Jill and Dan are so welcoming and we loved learning about the hobby farm.Everything was enjoyable BUT MY VERY FAVORITE PART OF ALL ARE THE ANIMALS! I just absolutely love interacting with the goats, horses, pigs, chickens, cats, dogs and watchimg all the other wildlife like the peacocks and deer.We will be back in October and we cant wait!Thank you,Linda and Scott Vogt

Had a great time with my wife on our 10 year anniversary.

I am a light sleeper and received an unwelcome 6am wake up call daily by the free range Guineas and peacocks, even with earplugs. My husband and I found the beds to be uncomfortable and noisy so we went to Walmart and bought air mattresses. Other than that we had a pleasant, restful stay. The cabin was clean and appealing. The property was well maintained and beautiful scenery. The only thing missing was a fishing pond and we would not have left except for food.We appreciated going somewhere we could take the dogs since one of ours has separation anxiety. Thank you
