This was a completely great experience Meeting Susan at Discovery Landing showing tour. We come in with doubt she eased all of it. She answered all and every question we had. Had us feeling really confident about the next steps what we need for application fees pets are ok. This honestly lifted some real stress off our plate. She made the nice living a reality!! Thank you Susan at Discovery Landing. Thank you Chereace and Ricky
We lived at the Discovery Landing for a year and we had a great experience. The location is really great, close to the freeway, buses, and grocery stores are in walking distance. The staff was great and responded quickly to questions and concerns. I see in other reviews there is concern for cost of rent for the size of the apartment. We looked at mutliple apartments and this was the most kept up one that we saw with a washer and dryer. The only issue I had is parking and garbage, this js not an issue with management or staff more so neighbors. There is limited visitor parking which is often taken up by other tenants with multiple vehicles. As well there are tenants that do not know how to properly toss their garbage or toss their garbage in a timely manner. The garbage would not get full if people did not hoard trash in their homes or on balconies and then decide to toss it out on Sundays causing dumpster overflow. Then there are just the ones that do not like to take the extra step to throw their trash in the dumpster but instead leave it in front.
Parking is a nightmare, the number of emails I receive for “property updates” is absurd. Not to mention the accidental emails…Some apartments are updated, some are not. Be carful what you apply for!Jacqueline is amazing, Stephanie is passive aggressive and maintenance is decent.
Im a contractor that performs work for the property management company that manages Discovery Landing, and from my experience, you can really tell that the management team cares about their tenants. I have done numerous jobs for this property and they are very good at coordinating work with me, the contractor, and their tenants. They also take care of issues in a very timely manner, I would know because I get chewed out if Im not on schedule! :) In general, MG Properties is one of the best management companies Ive worked with on the contractors side, and I know that level of care translates to their service to their residents.
My husband and I have been living here since November and have had nothing but positive experiences. When anything has needed checking on or fixing, the staff has gotten right on it and always been able to help us in a very good timeframe! I appreciate the work theyve done to ensure that the apartments are safe and nice, and the little extras theyve done to build community (lego truck and gingerbread house contest over the Holidays!). All in all this has been a great place for us to live!
The management here is probably the worst Ive ever experienced.I had an unsafe living situation and was told I could pay an early termination fee, my lawyer read over everything and signed off on it.They continued to tell me I was incorrect, and have hassled me over and over for months. All these people want is to screw you over, but with the help of my family I was able to get out.I do not recommend settling down here. The place looks nice at a distance but you will not be happy with the management team.
If you love your family do not move to this site is a horror
I moved into Discovery Landing apartments in April and I couldn’t be happier. They are a major upgrade to my old apartments. I wanted to leave a review for Curt on the maintenance team. I really appreciate all of his hard work. He is very attentive and pays attention to detail. His work is meticulous and he even calls back to make sure that I am satisfied! Thank you Discovery Landing for having such wonderful staff!
I have been living at Discovery Landing for approximately a year now and wanted to just say what an amazing experience. Starting with the Maintenance team Curt and Enoch deserve a lot more than a shout out!! They are so friendly and on top of their job it has made absolutely any problem seem so small because they are on top of it in what has seemed to be minutes after notifying them about an issue and it is resolved just as quickly!! Literally the best maintenance staff I have ever had and just solid great guys!! Along with them I’d also like to say the apartments themselves are updated and maintained so well and through all of this chaos and tragedy our country and world is going through while I hear horror stories from friends dealing with their apartment living situations around the country Stephanie (Manager) and Jaqulyn (assistant manager) have been absolutely great and I am so thankful for such a great all around team from maintenance to management making this such a great living experience!! 5 stars all the way around!!
One of the appeals of living here is the location: the location is excellent for anyone with a commute in the Seattle metro region, with easy access to major freeways and highways like I-5, I-405, and Hwy 509. Several grocery stores and restaurants are also nearby.I live in a unit that hasnt been renovated in a while, compared to the pictures of recently renovated units, and even so, the unit is high quality for the rent price. While the bathrooms are little dated, all of the units Ive toured and the unit I live in are spacious and clean, with good carpeting and hardwood flooring.Only complaint I would have is that the flooring is thinner than expected, so hopefully you get good upstairs neighbors. However, management is quick to intercede and be an intermediary.Anyone who has lived in an apartment complex knows that a good management team is part of the experience and amenities provided. The management here has always been quick to respond to any requests, accommodating, and flexible. Jaqulyn is a recent addition to this team but my roommate and I have had positive experiences with her, from her ability to find us solutions to issues with parking, mitigating noise complaints, and more.
Everything about these apartments are great EXCEPT for the parking and discrimination I have received from Stephanie the entire time Ive lived here. She shows favoritism to some while others she rude and extremely disrespectful. The management here SUCKS except for Jaqueline she is extremely wonderful and should be the general manager here she doesnt discriminate .
Ive lived here for 4 years and within the last 2 years the property and staff have been on a real upswing. Stephanie the property manager has been very helpful whenever I needed service for the apartment and is very helpful with any questions I may have. I would recommend. I wanted to add a secondary note, Kurt and Enoch did a great job working on my bathroom and kitchen, very very quick and professional service.
I had the pleasure of living at discovery landing for 8 years. The management crew Curt, Enoch, Jaqulyn and Stephanie were wonderful. Overall I was happy to call discovery landing my home. The parking was a little on the rough side to have guests but we made it work. Thank you for a great 8 years.
Hello, I have been a long time resident and I wanted to share a great experience I had with the maintenance team today. I put in a service call at the beginning of the week, they were available next day, I was not so Kurt and Enoch worked around my schedule and preformed the work cleanly and quickly and very professionally. Very positive experience.
Stephanie, Curt and Enoch have been super helpful ever since I moved in. Enoch always says hi every time I would see him outside and Stephanie is always really attentive. Most recently, all the electricity in my apt shorted. I didn’t know what was going on. I happened to run into Enoch outside while trying to figure out what happened. Enoch said that he would tell Curt to come check it out since I needed to hop on a meeting soon. Curt came by a couple minutes later and he figured out what happened within 10 minutes. The thing I like about Curt is while he’s not one for small talk, he is kind, efficient and to the point. Personally, I like that he’s about his business. He’s like a gruff dude but not at all mean.I know with the pandemic, everything is heightened and folks have shorter tempers. The staff, as far as my interactions with them, have been kind, efficient and knowledgeable. Thanks to the crew and Jaqulyn, who I haven’t had the chance to work with but I’ve gotten some nice emails from her.
The worst decision I could make in my life was to move into this apartment complex. it is awful! When you arrive they show you as a model apartment a place of dreams but the reality is a nightmare. Everything is ugly and old!
I recently relocated from NY to WA. This month (8-2020) marks my 1 year anniversary in WA. The relocation process was very traumatic. Living at Discovery landing has been very pleasant despite all the issues we are facing in the world. I have gotten to know the staff very well and I am going to be honest with you, they are the best. They care about the residents and they ensure that our needs are met.Stephanie is the manager. She is one of the hardest working individuals. During the pandemic, she offered resources to tenants facing hardships and found ways to entertain the children. Stephanie is a great advocate and she loves her residents. You are Awesome!Jaqulyn is the assistant manager, she recently join the crew and she fits in very well. She has proven herself with great customer service skills and her passion for the task at hand. She is very effective and would make sure you are well informed. Thanks Jaqulyn.Living in an apartment also has its drawbacks, things break frequently but rest assured Enoch and Curt are there to the rescue. My HeroesEnoch is an invaluable individual who takes his profession very seriously. He comes with a smile with assurances that the issues will be fixed. he has great interpersonal skills and not only fixes the issues but will come back a day later to make sure there are no pending issues. I have no complaints here. Thank you Enoch for your kindness and good work ethics.Curt is one of the senior staff. Curt comes with a lot of experience and a very skillful individual. Curt is also indispensable to the team and the community. He guarantees maintenance request are solved in a timely fashion and gives assurances until that issue is solved. Thanks Kurt.Well some might say it can be all that great, sure there are also cons about living at the Discovery landing. One of the issues is parking and I recently spoke with staff about my concerns. Its a work in progress, they are open to suggestions. I am glad I renewed my lease till 2021.Thanks guys for your exceptional hard work during these trying times.
I moved in August of 2017. After 31 years in my house I didnt expect to be content in an apartment. I am content here, Im renewing for the 3rd time. I can walk into town, my apartment is spacious and quiet. My neighbors are diverse and friendly...but not as sociable as my neighbors around my house. The office staff and ever present maintenance staff are my friends. We kid, and they take care of business. Ill be here for a while.Andy Chacharon
Discovery Landings staff goes above and beyond to help everyone in a timely manner. Ive never had anything but a positive experience while visiting here and working with the staff.
Tough times were in. The office staff, especially Stephanie, have been great helping us stay positive. The maintenance crew is really friendly, always giving a wave. Very happy to be in our 5th year here.
I lived here for 10 years and recently moved due to a family size increase. Stephanie and Angela were so helpful with our move.Through out the years I have seen the company shift their managers around with company growth. This gets helpful, as there leaves little down time when there is a management shift.I once had a water issue in my apartment and could not have asked for better service with the repairs. Problems happen but good communication and being available to work with my insurance sure saved a lot of headache and stress.I have enjoyed management with the best of professionalism and a perfect amount of friendliness and consideration. This is their job but they know it is HOME to us. I pray enjoy the same with my next choice. Thank you Stephanie, Angela, Jamal and all MG Property Staff.
I just signed a 3 month extension to my current lease and Jaqulyn was so helpful. With the stay at home order in place and office closed, she helped me set everything up online and even dropped paperwork off at my apartment. I have been here 3 years and have had very few issues, even with the staff changes :)
Best place ever I lived there for 4 years Wit my mom and sister loved that place really had fun missed that place makes me sad but They rlly needa fix the dog thing cuz dogs are walking around wit no Person wit them had to put mine down 😔
Wanted to share with Discovery Landing staff & others looking for a new home.Lived here for over a decade...it has been a excellent experience...During Covid - 19...it is wonderful knowing Maintaince, Curt & Enoch are just a phone call away....it really makes me feel safer knowing they are on the property during the day..Stephanie & Jaqulyn are a great support team & find great solutions to everything that comes their way.....they are confident, caring & show kindness compassion & strength with challenges before them...I know for certain that they will be part of the solution..Enoch & Curt have great follow - thru..are courteous, professional & show constant excellence in all tasks! They always wear masks & booties in & out of apartments & on property...safety always comes first...I do miss their kind smiles..although I can still feel Smiles from their kind energy...even with masks 💓So, if your looking forConstant Excellence in apartment living, Discovery Landing is a place to call Home ! Stay safe & sending joy & wellness to all 💓
This Place is Awesome, I live here for 9 years I recommend to any one who want to live at this apartment Discovery Landing.
A nice place to live. Stephanie, Jaqulyn, Enoch, and Curt keep the place in tip top shape!
I witnessed your property Manager Stephanie get a residents car towed from their own spot and then yelled and disrespected the resident and his neighbors when they called the police. When I called to make a complaint, Stephanie lied and said the resident tried to physically assault her and the police officer had to pull him back. I was watching the whole thing! That never happened. She then proceeded to try and argue with me on the phone. When I asked her for her supervisors phone number all she said was that she IS the supervisor. When I asked for the General Managers information, she refused to give it to me and said to check the website. When I check the website what do I find? No information to a general manager. She was completely rude, belittling, UNPROFESSIONAL, and disrespectful. I cannot believe that she was allowed to treat anyone like that.I wouldnt move into this place if my life depended on it.
I have read the reviews tonight about Discovery Landing. I wish my daughter would have never moved in there. The rent is so high for such a low income area I cant believe it. One bedroom 750 sq. ft. for almost $1,600 a month???? You can barely turn around in her apartment. Please, this is the armpit of Burien these days and it didnt used to be. Wondering why the owners think they deserve that much rent in a place where there is so much police activity and cars broken into. Get a clue, Burien like it used to be is over. However, I do have to be on Stephanies side a little bit more than most of you are. She is in the middle of trying to do her job and having to do what she is told by the money grubbing owners and so to speak drink the Kool-Aid She has always been nice and helpful unlike anyone else that works for this management office. Most are cold and uncaring.
Management is great. But the location is not. Easy access to the highways but way too close to the airport. Some of the apartments for me were unlivable because of the noise.
Great place! Lived here for 6 months after moving to Washington and it was the best apartment community Ive ever lived at. NiceIndoor pool and spa and gym. Management is friendly and helpful, maintenance is great!
UPDATE!!!!!!!!(08/06/19)Here we are less than two months later and I continue to deal with the On-Site Team their service is horrible. After begin disrespected by the manager multiple time over the last few months Ive tried my best to stay out of the office. But today after leaving a voice-mail and messaging MG-Properties about a Online-Payment issue. I was greeted with disrespect as soon as I approached the office door. After trying to talk with Stephanie I told her I felt that she was calling me a liar and that she was not being clear on how to handle my situation. Managers should be able to help clients with their situation and not just sit there and hand out business cards with a website that you can go to and get a number that only redirects you to a voicemail. I can honestly say that I Hate the service that I have revived from the site manager Stephanie she shows no compassion for the residents and I continue to hear similar complaints against the way she is running the property.I have lived here since 2013 and I have enjoy the time I spent here and I believe it is a nice property but the property manager Stephanie is disrespectful and I feel that MG-Properties does not care either. Since after all that I have said in this post and me taking them to court and all of the prior phone call I have made they have not once reached out to me.(06/08/19)When this company had proper staffing from 2013 till 2017, not once did I have a issue that I could not solve by simply walking into the office and communicating with the Property Manager. This company has heard my complaint in many forms to this day and no longer will I continue to attempt to be heard when obviously your Company does not care for the well being of its residents. I hear the complaints from my neighbors everyday and I know you will listen and make a menses with your residents or this will be one of the first of many more Negative Rating.Truly yours,Resident 0-BalanceOld PostManagement service at this property has became quite poor over the last year. I loved the way that I was treated when I first arrived over 5 years ago. I understood the rules and management made sure to enforce them while still respecting us as people. Today I am unable to have those type of conversations with management. I have been a resident since 2013 and have had more issues with management then I could count just in the last year. This is a corporate property that cares nothing for the well being of its residents. They also continue to raise prices on rent. I have stayed over the years because I enjoy being close to Seattle but when your rent is more then a lot of peoples mortgages I am defiantly seeing my lease coming to a end in 2019.There Parking Practices Are Despicable, they make acceptation to rules for the benefit of the company but forget that they left half of the complex inoperable for all of the recent snow days to miss work and other things. Residents were actually outside with homemade shovels digging there cars out. They towed my vehicle out of my assigned parking spot just hours after I moved it from the place that they marked it with a sticker which read (Will be towed 02/25/19 1:25pm for 48hr non moment). But instead of telling the whole story I will just say that it was a unlawful tow, I am now taking the tow company to civil court and will be glad to post the final judgment of my case. This company has done things that make me label them as slum lord and all I ask is take this into consideration for yourself before signing a lease with these people.READ Everything Write Everything Down and Take Pictures Because They will LIE To Your FaceNot everything that looks good feels good
This place has been such a breath of fresh air compared to my previous homes and landlords. The apartments are well maintained, the double payned windows keep the heat in and the shady grounds keep the apartments cool on a hot day.A bit more pricey than the surrounding apartments, but for a pet friendly place, with great amenities, one reserved parking spot per apartment, and reasonable deposits, you cant be upset.Isabel the manager is wonderful and kind, Ive seen her handle multiple disgruntled tenants and interested renters at the same time with poise. Shes always friendly and tends to your needs. The only downside Ive seen is a lot of litter, but that seems to be a theme in Burien. Cant blame management for renting to inconsiderate people.
I stayed at Discovery Landing for approximately 15 weeks. I must say that I was totally impressed and more than satisfied with my stay there. The Discovery Landing (DL) Team was very courteous and helpful, always willing and open to discussions. The facilities were well taken care of, the gym, the pool and the sauna were among my favorites. Security was always present and the DL Team kept us abreast with developments in the community. Parking was reserved for residents and there was also a parking lot for visitors. The Flexible leasing arrangements were also a benefit. I totally recommend and fully endorse Discovery Landing. Two thumbs up!!
Love the management team, i would highly recome d them, heather and angela are the best, they will acomódate anything for you to be happy 😉
I lived here for 3 years. The original management team was amazing and tried to accomodate any special requests as long as they were reasonable and did not impact other residents. The new team goes by the strict letter of the small font of your lease so read it well. Rent goes up by $100.00 a month every year. Parking is impossible. There are rat holes all over the property, the kids play in them and dig them larger. I have complained about this issue multiple times as it is a safety concern, so watch your step. There are nails everywhere too. The pear trees attract rats and bees.I would not reccomend this facility to anyone since the management change.Apartments are very nice. Too bad residents tend to throw their trash off their balconies. People block the trash dumpsters with old furniture and electronics. DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU ARE HANDICAPPED. VERY UNACCOMODATING.If you rent from MG Properties, look at their rating on Better Business Bureau and have an attorney look at the contract because the contract is written solely in their favir and the average person will miss something that will come back to bite them. For instance do not email your notice to vacate. It must be in writing with your original signature or they will bail you hard!
Love this place! Right next to a big field, so my dog also loves it!!
We rented a Bainbridge floor plan (2 bedroom/2 bath) for a year, and loved living there. We were preparing to transition to the Whidbey floor plan (3 bedroom/2 bath) to accommodate our new babies, and happily renew our lease for another year, but a house opened up in our price range, and we felt we needed to pursue that instead. We found Discovery Landing because we were looking for an apartment near SeaTac airport with a pet friendly policy. Its not easy finding an apartment that will rent to a family with a 70lb dog, but Discovery Landing turned out to be a perfect fit. Their pet deposit and pet rent felt more than reasonable. The staff is excellent, friendly, and help make Discovery Landing a great place to live. We really enjoyed our interactions with Crystal, Isabel, Jamal, and Leo.The apartment floor plans feel open and spacious (we loved the size of the bedrooms), and the location of the complex is within easy walking distance of downtown Burien. There is also a bike/pedestrian path right by the complex that makes it easy to take the dog for a walk. All in all, a great place to live.
When snow days management does not clear ice/snow off of parking lot and impossible to get out and go to work without slipping and sliding and endangering other peoples car.
Expensive, no parking available, after 5 p.m you never never find parking, my work Truck was stolen, broken windows in my car, they tow my car 3 times. .bad bad bad.
Very good is good peopel
