We stayed at these apartments for six months and thought it was a good value for the space and location! It was cozy and well-insulated and I never had a problem finding parking. The few maintenance issues we had were taken care of by the hard working groundskeepers, and they did an excellent job cleaning up the snow during the big snowfall that occurred while we were here. The manager was a very nice woman. The only negative was the lack of a dishwasher, but that’s not that big of a deal breaker. Thanks y’all!

Worst decision I made... Staff is Very Unprofessional. I do not recommend this condo to anyone. I can’t believe the five star review on this condominium. Last but not least, they charge us extra money for something me and my wife never did, because we left the apt in good conditions.

Moving out of this condo finally after one year. Be aware!!! Be careful with your belongings, including your car since mine was left on the floor without tires in front of my own apartment; The apartment is not very nice, the walls have cracks everywhere, the washing machine and dryer are not working very well and the windows are not very well insulated.

When we were looking for housing last July we almost decided not to visit Montoya because of the Google reviews. We are glad we did. We loved our 1-bedroom, not just for the gas heat/stove/oven and in-unit laundry machine/drier, but more importantly, our friendly and respectful neighbors, and responsive staff. We experienced four months of lockdown during Covid and we were thankful we lived in Montoya (the community is safe for our little one to ride her bike and run around). We had to move after living there for a year because of work relocation, but we know that this is a community we would consider moving back to if anything brings us back to Connecticut. Thanks for a wonderful year and many great memories, Montoya!

Im so surprised at the bad reviews Im reading here. I have been living here for about 3 months and have zero complaints. I guess I read the lease when I moved in and understood what I was signing, unlike some other people who wrote reviews? Rent is cheap, my apartment was clean upon moving in and neighbors are friendly. No complaints here.

FYI...the actual Montoya CONDO units are individually owned, well maintained, with new windows, new siding, etc. These negative reviews refer to units that are only RENTALS and are not part of the actual CONDO complex.

Funny how all good reviews sound like apartment ads. Who would mention how close it is to all nearby highways and attractions? Who talks like that? Given there are either 1 or 5 star reviews only I think management must be writing all the good reviews. Its the same way on all the apt reviews cites and they repeat the same ads on craigslist again and again. Not even going to bother seeing this place.

I have lived in several different complexes before and this was by far my worst experience. The buildings themselves are dilapidated and it does not appear there has been any updating or repairs in 20 years. The apartments are way overpriced. There are absolutely no amenities at all. There is a pool and club house, but only select members of the community are permitted. The community is dirty, as are the neighbors. Half the common area lights are out. Received notice of bed bugs within the community and people would just leave their trash and belongings outside. Finally, the leasing office and management are horrible and disorganized. The leasing manager constantly screwed up my rent bill and my rent was always different amounts. One month I was billed for less, only to be billed double for $500 more the next bill and told to immediately pay it or face a late fee.The early lease termination clauses were a blessing and I was happy to get out with an out of state job offer. Finally, upon move out, they nickel and dime you on your security deposit. I essentially ended up paying a few hundred dollars for leaving a garment hook on the bedroom door and hanging a few pictures on the wall.

This is a great place to live, so close to the highway and beaches. Great apartment with my own washer and dryer and air conditioning. Office staff are nice and was very helpful when we moved in. Maintenance guys always friendly and Rodney comes to fix things pretty fast. We will stay here until we buy our own place.

My aunt went there and the girls there are unprofessional. Tell you to pay for a application knowing you wouldnt qualify because you have a section 8 voucher. Do not go and waist your money. They told my aunt when she asked as to why she was denied if they accept vouchers she stated sorry take accountability for yourself you dont make enough income. Who would say that??

I lived here here for about a year and half with my boyfriend. Sadly we had to move due to a job change a couple months ago. This was our first place together and our first time living in CT. Moving from NYC was a big change for the both of us but we slowly began to like this area and all it had to offer. Being close to the water was what I will miss most about our apartment. Our apartment was really clean when we moved in, and though things were not totally brand new, everything worked well and we didnt have any issues with appliances while we lived there. All of our neighbors were friendly and we became close to a few of them. Overall, our apartment was quiet and I always felt safe being alone when my boyfriend worked night shifts.

I lived there for a year and knew 5 neighbors all having issues. My issue was mild in the bathroom and I have kids. They refused to do anything and after spraying it with bleach and moving out I was charged to redo walls due to mold. Second note this security despoit Thing is a huge scam. You pay money for a bond. The bo d in turn acts as your deposit. Well at the end of lease I washed the rugs, put new blinds up and cleaned the house top to bottom. I was hit with replacing the carpet and heavy cleaning. Upon asking for a walk through I was denied stating it was rented when it wasnt. I asked for an itemized bill with receipts they just gave me a paper stating carpeting $ 780. Lastly I asked for picture proof of damages and was denied. Now this so called bond company recieved their demand for payment, pays montoya and comes after me for so called damages. They hit my credit and now Im suing both company for hurting my credit, fraud charges and not giving back my security despoit. Please read states becsuse this isnt legal no matter how much they state it.The road ducks and speed bumps wear down your shocks. Police are there nearly every other week. Dog poop everywhere and the threat non maintain sidewalks (we had a lady fall and break her hip because of this during the snow).Over all stay the hell away. Really bad

Maintenance doesnt help, parking fills up sometimes to the point you have to park away from your condo, trash stays outside of dumpsters for weeks ( had a couch, basketball hoop, and table set sit next to the dumpster for about 2 months, and i know this becuase i see it from my window.) Walmart employees blast music at night, they havent sprayed the grass yet this seaon for ticks(so watch out for ticks because theres alot) god for bid you toilet breaks they charge you to fix it. Almost had a carbon monoxide problem because they dont do there routine checks. My guy who came to fix my heating problem find out because everything was rusted (this connected between to condos). No one picks up after there dog and throws trash everywhere. If u live in the condos you cant get a pool card no more. And the association members acts like neighbor watch and will get harassed for using the wrong dumpster even thought its outside your door. The lights are basicslly out for everyone in the complex except for the association area. (Make sure to bring a flashlight outside at night) They make it seem so beautiful from the outside, take a drive through its not that great. Always watch out for kids if your driving because theyre parents dont care to watch them. They dont fully renovate apartments after people move out. Only one maintenance man gives a hoot about his job, shoutout to Rob. A majority of the people are not friendly here. Also if you live in an apartment and want to take nice stroll through the complex dont go into the condo area because youll be harassed by other condo buyers for trespassing but they can do it to you and walk their dogs through your yard. All this for almost 2,000 a month. What a steal

I am usually not picky about apartments, but this is absolutely the worst place Ive dealt with (and this comparison includes college dorms, too).Lets begin with the apartment structure itself. I rented a one bedroom, one bath apartment, not renovated apartment at the discounted price of $1071.00/month. What. A. Bargain.First, note that it was built in the 1950s, I can deal with the original paint being lead-based and no bathroom fans, no dishwasher, leaky windows, old moldy carpet. Im fine with all that because I assumed maintenance is on call and can fix necessities around the apartment on an as-need basis. I was obviously wrong to assume. Two months after my move in, the complex decided two re-insulate all apartments by filling in all the doors with foam spray. This procedure was done on a Friday for me. And with my luck, my door was unable to close and lock properly while I was away for the weekend because of all that foam. When I got back to my apartment Sunday night, my door was wiiiiiiide open. I communicated this to Montoya on two occasions; both times it took them 2 days to send someone out and both times they have failed to keep my door insulated and my bottom lock working. I found my door wide open for the second time one week after. Finally, maintenance removed all insulation foam and now I pay $200 a month in gas so I can keep my bedroom at 61 degrees.Let us observe incident number two. The first time I tried using my oven (preheating for a perfect batch of brownies at 12 at night. We dont judget here), the oven filled my room with a horrendous smell. And yes, if you were wondering, it smelled like a gas leak. At this time, I turned the oven off and called the emergency maintenance. The person answered the phone, instead of checking on my well being, told me I will be fine as long as my oven is off... and that he will check up on me the next morning. Comes the next day, the maintenance is a no show and I get a call later in the afternoon asking if there is still a smell in the room. I wonder if he would have checked up on me if I didnt answer the phone and hed thought I died from gas poison or something. It wasnt until two days later, the maintenance came to my apartment to see if the smell persist. My boyfriend answers the door and assured that we were both alive. The maintenance guy never bothered to look at my damn oven. I had to run to my friends house to finish baking my half baked brownie.Thankfully, my job is allowing me to relocate to New Jersey, so I called the property manager, whose communicated my information to her boss. The bosss name rhymes with Big Panda, so lets just call her big panda. BP never replied to my requests. I had to reach out to her two weeks later, because you know, shes off at some big adventure managing properties and stuff. Anyway, BP explains to me that I need to pay for 2 months rent to break the lease or I can continue paying for rent and a penalty fee while I wait for a potential person to take over my rent. Remember how I said my $1071 rental fee is discounted? Well, apparently I had to pay for the difference now that I am breaking my lease, but Big Panda never communicated that with me prior to my arrangements with my company. I go to the leasing office and paid off my break-lease fee and the saw the concessions fee mentioned on my lease. I was rather confused and had the leasing manager send another email to BP, assuring me that BP is great at responding to emails. I called BP. She sassed me with her fake British accent and told me to look at the lease for any questions and then proceeded to ask me if I had any questions. If this sounds less like a review and more like a complaint, you are probably right.Anyway, after all the inconvenience Montoya has caused me, Ive never received a straight solutions to any of my problems.Moral of the story. Its terrible. Dont live here.
