I cant say enough wonderful things about Pure Barre. I began working out here after a major health situation that left me with nearly no core strength. After just five classes (in seven days) I began to notice an extreme shift in my body. Ive now been a member for seven months and I am obsessed with Pure Barre. Ive found the three different classes to be ideal for building and maintaining strength and movement in the body. The workouts focus on small movements that allow you to build strength in ways that wont hurt you, and will never bore you.

This was my first time visiting this location and Amy and Kait (manager and instructor) were very welcoming and helpful.. as well as the other students. Some other exercise studios I’ve been too can be a bit cold in their welcome of new clients - not this one. It was a great experience, and a great class! I will be back! Thank you.

Disclaimer: This is not a review from a lover of Barre workouts but rather someone who tried it just to see.The ladies here are SUPER nice and very welcoming. They have that sort of upbeat, perky personality that makes me actually want to be somewhere rather than turning around and walking out. The studio is fairly small but clean and the space is used pretty efficiently. This workout might be for you if you like: isometrics above all else, tiny controlled movements that isolate specific muscle groups, loud upbeat dance-type music when you get your sweat on, feeling like youre in it with the rest of the class, straining toward greater endurance, toning. This workout might not be for you if you prefer: working large muscle groups with full range of motion, really getting your heart rate up, HIIT, working toward building muscle, functional movement, working toward specific goals, burning lots of calories, working your workout and not being concerned with others.Personally, I bike to work, I go to yoga, I workout at 9Round, I climb, I hike, I walk, I do HIIT and resistance training and every once in a while I still run. Not all of them all the time but currently I AM doing the first three on a daily basis during the workweek. I enjoy workouts that are fun, where I can focus on better form, increasing my strength/flexibility/technique and dont feel like a sardine in a can with everyone else. I like my workout to be MINE without caring what anyone else is doing even if were all doing the same thing (i.e. yoga). SO that all said, I might be on the soft side with a fair bit of extra padding, but Im not entirely out of shape or fitness-challenge.The reasons the workout wasnt for me were a few. Its so quickly paced that its all too easy to sacrifice form to keep up (and I wasnt the only one doing so). Generally once you start sacrificing form Im out. Im not a fan of isolating a specific muscle to the point of cramping. I dont like jumping right into a high intensity workout without any sort of warm up period. This is not really obviously scalable to different fitness levels and abilities. Im sure if you made a point of it you could but right out of the box it seems more like a conformity type situation where you just get on board with everyone else. My heart rate, according to my tracker, averaged 98 bpm. It averages higher than that in most of the more mild yoga classes I do.I didnt get anything from this class that I cant get from yoga (a sculpt class will give me all that muscle isolation and working to exhaustion without cramping and still allow me to be present and mindful with myself and my body and my morning Rise class gets me sweating with constant new challenges) or 9Round (fast paced, heart rate ratcheting up, lots of strength building and let me see you claim they dont force you to develop endurance) in a way that suits me much better.Im probably just really not a group fitness class person. But I bet if you try it and love it (I know someone who does and I went because of a guest pass she offered me use of) youll probably end up with some killer calves and glutes (as long as you have an appropriate diet for those to be visible). And youll at least really like the other ladies there because they really are super sweet. And with all that said, I will still contemplate giving them more of a shot by utilizing the free week they offer. And I will consider that entirely because they were so nice there.
