Booked a half day float fishing trip and loved every minute! Max was very communicative during booking and incredibly helpful with questions. Our guide Will was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. We are two novice fisherman, and Will made us feel at ease and was an excellent teacher. The boat was in pristine shape, the river he chose had plenty of fish. We hooked several rainbow trout and one whitefish. Could not recommend more highly. Would absolutely fish with them again!

Max was completely attentive and engaged from my very first inquiry into our trip through checking in daily as to our fishing experience each day. As to planning, his knowledge of fishing options in various regions helped immensely as this was our first MT fishing trip. And his (and his guides) flexibility helped make a winning change of plans late in our trip as rain was negatively impacting our initial plan. And it was clear that our lodge, Yellowstone Valley Lodge, and Max have a good working relationship as everything seemed to be tailored to our plans. We cant stop grinning over how much we thoroughly enjoyed our trip!

Ok - you fly fishing fanatics - this is the best of many outfitters in Montana. We have had opportunities over the years in all the famous Montana waters - Big Horn, Yellowstone, Madison, Depuy & Spring creeks, the Gallatin river... We have engaged a number of well known outfitters across Montana (BTW - we also fished the Snake - another review in another time) and Max and his gang exceeded all expectations. Firstly, Max is a wonderful guide and outfitter. He pays a lot of attention to your needs and will arrange the best guides across multiple rivers in Montana to match your requests. We booked three days of floating with them and each day was fav. This was my wife very first fly-fishing trip (we also fished the Test River in the UK, salmon fishing in Scotland and I fished at a number of European renowned rivers in Slovenia etc.). She was taught exceedingly well every day. Max was superb on the first day on the river and then on our last day, we were teamed with Spencer Wallace - just a phenomenal guide - excellent manner, excellent teacher and so, so funny! We had a great float with Max on the Missouri River. Max is an outstanding guide and made our trip really great. Our boat caught fish the whole day, with many double hook-ups from the start. Our boat was catching a ton of fish while the other boats around were not. We had a great time trying nymphing and dry-dropper fishing, with success in both.

We used Montana Angling Co. for our first Yellowstone fly fishing experience. My wife had never touched a fly rod in her life and Craig was awesome in his instruction. We caught about 40 fish on the trip with my wife doing most of the damage. She also caught the biggest fish of the day, a 20” brown. It was an experience we will never forget. Max at Montana Angling Co was great, first he hooked us up with a great Guide. Brian was super patient and gave us fantastic instructions. We caught a lot of fish and probably missed more. I am booking again with Brian for two trips next year.Max was great as well, I started looking for an outfitter for a September trip in July. My wife and I were also camping and needed a place for our fifth wheel. He provided two options that had full hookups. His communication was great even though cell and data are sketchy along the River. Since he is a guide himself, it appears he works non-stop. I had the privilege of fishing with Max, Jess, and Craig. Based on their recommendation, we fished the Yellowstone and Stillwater rivers and caught countless fish (rainbows, browns, whites, and cutthroat). Their guiding expertise and deep knowledge of the rivers (and Montana in general) was obvious and made for a very enjoyable and educational experience. My son and I had our first fly fishing trip with Montana Angling Company and I couldnt have been more satisfied. Max was helpful from the get-go and paired us up with Sean, who was patient and a great teacher. We had two wonderful days on the Yellowstone, learned a ton, and caught a bunch of fish!! We fished with Brogan on two separate days. The first day was a walking/wade of small ponds in Yellowstone with my wife and son (12) whom had never been fly fishing. Brogan was incredibly patient and helped them have a wonderful first experience. In all we caught 17 fish and more importantly created a memory we have talked about every day since the trip. I did a float trip on the Yellowstone river with Brogan on the second day. High and fast moving water due to a very wet winter and spring but he consistently put me in great casting position to catch fish. I am not a novice but far from a expert. Again he took the time to explain different casting techniques, flies and strategies to land a fish in fast moving water (all of my fly fishing experience has been inshore saltwater) . While we had an amazing time the icing on the cake was the fish of a lifetime (see pictures).I highly recommend this group for anyone regardless of their level of experience. We will be back again very soon and cant wait to reconnect with this team.

Had a large group of guys looking for a fun fishing trip. Some wanted to do some serious fly fishing, and some wanted to relax on the water while doing some casual fishing. Max picked an incredible group of guides that catered to all of our needs. Was my first time fly fishing and I just did the half day. I didnt think I would catch many fish, but the instruction was so good, I was catching fish left and right. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun adventure.

We didnt fish with Max but instead Spencer who was awesome. We had stayed in Bozeman and the day before it had been raining east of town, so instead of taking us to a blown out Yellowstone, Spencer drove us as hour to fish the middle Madison, it was epic. He taught my fiance to fly fish and she was catching fish on the half day float, he even recommended great spots for wade fishing the following day. My dealings with Montana Angling were nothing but great, Max took plenty of time to answer all my questions ahead of time and made sure the trip went flawless. When we return to Bozeman I will book with Montana Angling Company again, it truly was a great experience.
