Yesterday my cat visited there for a urinalysis, and some dental work that included an extraction. Of course he was sedated for that dental procedure. The support staff were gentle with him and helpful in responding to my questions when I delivered and picked up my cat. Dr. Ritchie also called me the next day to check on my cats recovery, and give me the urinalysis results. At that time, she also took the time to respond to questions about my other cat, who recently started peeing on shoes in the house! She had some practical suggestions that helped me create a three-part action plan for addressing that problematic behavior. I love the reliable and professional care that my cats receive there, and greatly appreciate the extra help that Dr. Ritchie gave me on the phone.
My wonderful (feline) child was behaving very abnormally, I was fearful of something serious happening, and brought her in immediately. BE sure to fill out the form online first, and if you have a cat, be SURE your cat is in a secured carrier. Due to covid, you will have to wait outside. They took great care of her, and when returned to me, she was somehow not acting strange anymore. Wonderful service and very accommodating to owners with financial situations, in terms of helping you find affordable care. Whatever services you have done here, be sure you can pay in full, as they will not release your pet otherwise.
I have been a client for almost 25 years! Dr. Patton and her staff are more than just a veterinary clinic to me and my family. They are friends. Whether it is a routine wellness exam, an emergency or helping one of my beloved pack to pass peacefully, the folks at North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital have always been kind, compassionate and professional. I absolutely love these people!
Great place to bring your little fur ones, they take nothing but the best care of the extended paw of your family. If you have to seek out any needs for your rats like me owning rodents is very hard since they are viewed as an exotics pet type its very hard to seek care for them at most vets in boulder! So with that said you are in nothing but good hands wit the team they have here.
They’re so wonderful! I had to get last minute vaccines for my pup and they were able to help right away. When there they showed so much care to my dog and gave me more information about her health, meds, and food. They also called the day after to check in on how she was feeling. 10/10
Wanted to say this place is amazing and the care they gave my little boy Iggy was above and beyond fantastic
Nice people but theres definitely a general lack of communication and transparency regarding costs. Really makes visits hard to budget for.
A little on the pricy side but you defenetly get what you pay for! Ive been going to this vet for about 2 years now and have always felt like I got exceptional service and that they treat my pets very well.
They are super sweet love them! Little pricey but its expected.
Very thorough .... explained everything upfront .... couldn’t be nicer ... the vet and the girls at the desk
This is best care in Boulder! Dr. Raines and team make sure you and your babies are always thoroughly evaluated and cared for as their own.
Our puppy Omelet just had her first vet appointment last week, and it couldnt have gone better! Due to COVID-19 precautions, I was only able to meet the front-desk staff, Nikki. Omelet took an immediate liking to Nikki, and so did we. Omelet was more than happy to follow her into the clinic. While Omelet was in the clinic, we talked with Dr. Burleson on the phone for about 30 minutes. (Again, COVID precaution.) Dr. Burleson answered every question we hadand shared valuable information about how to keep Omelet healthy, including additional resources for us our follow-up research.Im very excited to continue working with Dr. Burleson, Nikki, and the whole NBCAH staff—and equally important, Omelet is excited, too!
The Doctors at North Boulder Companion are truly fantastic. In addition to trusting their judgement, which I do, their communication was so frequent and detailed - they made sure I understood both the Dx and our treatment options when my energetic, athletic dog was injured. 10/10 would use again for any veterinary need.
I love this whole clinic!! Not only do they offer an exceptional quality of service but their sincerely warm, kindhearted and dedicated staff has repeatedly made my pets as well as my own experiences there an absolute pleasure. Their knowledgeability and keeness to research new things has eased my panicked, overbearing pet parent brain time and time again; always answering all of my questions and, more often than not, giving me multiple options for how to deal with my 12yr old Basset-Bernese Mtn mixs myriad of health issues (including saving his life more than once). They even went above and beyond and sent me the most heartwarming card after he passed, signed by all those who worked with and knew him and I still cant thank them enough. Now I bring my new baby to them and, even through the pandemic, their commitment to excellence has not wavered. If you want a high quality vet and staff that will treat your pet as if its their own, go to North Boulder Comapnion Animal Hospital.
Everyone here is always helpful and looking out for Lunas best interest. Friendly and knowledgeable staff - I highly recommend this vet for your fur babies needs!
Thank you to North Boulder Companion to have taken a last minute appointment with our pet in order for us to have a health certificate signed a second time, which allowed us to send the certificate via fedex the same day and making our travel possible again! Really appreciate that they took the extra time when understanding the urgency. The long story: we had done all our due diligence for the international health certificate to Europe, which was signed well on time and correctly by North Boulder Companion and endorsed the next day by APHIS. However Fedex was not tracking the return while APHIS confirmed that they had already sent it back to us several days ago. Without knowing where our Fedex letter was, we had to redo the paper work and get the signature again by North Boulder Companion. Without North Boulder Companions flexibility on the day to see our pet again and sign the documents, this would not have been possible. Thank you very much!
I really appreciate the staff at NoBo Companion Animal Hospital. They are kind, professional, and care about their work. I also appreciate that they always have availability for impromptu or emergency visits. Even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, their level of care, communication, and responsiveness has been top notch. Highly recommend.
I called to get an emergency appointment for our family hamster with a swollen eye. The vet tech who made the appointment was very compassionate and squeezed us in that morning. The reception area is bright and inviting. The doctor was very informative and treated our hamster with care and gentleness. Gnibbles is improving each day and were very thankful! Highly recommend!!
Theyve always been great about scheduling and rescheduling when Ive needed. Never had to wait long to get in and theyve always been upfront with me about any costs I may incur.
Great experience! I brought my elderly cat in for a check up–there was a bit of weirdness with the quarantine (I stayed in my car the whole time), but the process overall was very smooth. Everyone there was very kind. They patiently walked me through everything they were doing and answered my questions. Im very satisfied with the service and feel confident in my pets health.
We took our 12 year old Charlie in with two puncture wounds. We did not have an appointment as we were new to this vet. We were greeted promptly and taken to a room for a check up. It was one of the best experiences Ive had with a vet, especially in an emergency situation. (Ive had 55 years owning animals). We received three calls asking how Charlie was after we were discharged. There was no up selling. We immediately had all our records changed to North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital. Im so grateful we found them. The quality of service and compassion was amazing!
We recently moved to Boulder, and our small dog has ben very nervous about the curbside process that many vets are doing during COVID-19. North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital was very understanding about this and understood how to take their time with getting him inside! We are very grateful to have found a new local vet!
I wouldnt bring my beloved family member Bertie anywhere else, and I recommend NBCAH to all my friends and clients.
The staff is friendly and extremely professional. When I first made the appointment over the phone, Nikki spent a significant amount of time getting thorough information about my dogs. When I brought in my senior dog for his first exam, Alice was everything you would except from an accomplished veterinary assistant.Dr Susan Patton is wonderful. Her deep knowledge of veterinary medicine as well as her vast experience in the field, combined with her innate kindness to animals and humans alike, are exactly what I was looking for.I HIGHLY recommend North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a practice with a heart.
I brought my animal in recently and the worker, Stephanie, was very kind and helpful. They did a wonderful job!
Whether my furry friend needs routine maintenance or special treatment, these friendly folks can do it all!
I cant say enough about how nice and caring the staff is at North Boulder. I brought in my toy poodle for her first check up and the amount of attention and the love they showed her was incredible. I highly recommend giving these folks a visit. You and your pet will be glad you did.
I have taken my kitten, Dot, to North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital three times for three separate vaccination appointments since I adopted her earlier this year. Each time, the staff has been excellent. Even though pet owners arent allowed inside due to COVID-19, Dr. Raines and Dr. Burleson both spoke to me on the phone and answered any questions I had in the same way they would for an in-person appointment. Very friendly and helpful. I appreciated it and how the staff has been on time each appointment. I also do not feel it was extremely expensive for the care Dot received. Glad to have found this vet!
Dr, Patton and her staff are the best. They have always taken such good care of ALL my animals and over the past 18 years! I highly recommend.
Been going to Dr.Patton for a very long time she has been treating all of my ferrets over the years. Shes the best doc out there. Very knowledgeable in her profession and plus. Shes very pleasant with the animals and takes excellent care of them. Every one takes good care of ower fuzzys and staff work with us do to the money part. I definitely recommend this Vet to every one!!😸🦦🐤🦆🐓
These people go above and beyond to help out their furry clients. Ive had emergencies in other states and they do whatever they can to help. We dont live in Boulder anymore but they still send me reminders for my dogs upcoming vet needs. The dog recommends the treats
NEVER TAKE YOUR TURTLE HERE!They may advertise themselves as turtle vets but they are definitely not.I have had my red eared slider for 16 years now. Once in a blue moon I give him some goldfish as a treat. Recently I tried a new store for my feeder fish and soon after he ate them his skin grew red and he was sleeping a lot - even on his basker. Now, you dont have to be a turtle expert to know whats going on here. Its septicemia, and its pretty bad for turtles.I called around several vets in Boulder and this seemed to be the only reptile friendly one. The visit itself was fine, they gave him a shot and sent me home with a feeding syringe and more medicine. A couple days passed and trying to get him to take the medicine was traumatic for the both of us. I was hoping to find the turtle version of pill pockets or anything to make the experience more comfortable for him so I called the vet back up.I asked how to better give him his medicine. The woman who replied told me that they had mis-diagnosed my turtle and that he was actually a she and she was trying to lay eggs. NOPE. I know my turtle. Ive had him for 16 years. I have seen his genitalia. Not only that, but gendering red eared sliders is extremely easy to do with sight alone. The males have very different nails and tails from females, and my turtle is no exception. So, they cant even tell the gender of the turtle. And if he was a she and had been laying eggs, then he definitely shouldnt have received a shot meant for septicemia! Luckily this wasnt the case, but I cant believe they had the audacity to re-diagnose my turtle and do it wrong after administering treatment. When I assured the woman that my turtle was indeed a man, she changed her tune. She claimed that, okay, maybe it is septicemia, but he probably only got it because I was neglecting the care of his tank. This offended me greatly. I had already told them about the goldfish. His tank is always cared for and clean. And nothing about his tank changed in the time he contracted septicemia. So I couldnt believe the response. And that still had nothing to do with why I had called. All I wanted was a way to make giving him his medicine easier and more comfortable. In return, I got the knowledge that these people know nothing at all about turtles, as well as they dont care if they mis-diagnose a symptom and give medicine for the wrong (but luckily in my case right) disease.I dont know how these people are with non-reptiles but please, I implore you, dont ever take your turtle here.
They did a great job getting information from me before the appt, explaining the curbside process to me, checking in with me after and then getting him what he needed and back to me asap. My little allergy filled boy and I are grateful to have this place so close by!
My cats are my fur kids and I take their care very seriously. We decided to visit North Boulder for a second opinion for a diagnosis of pancreatitis of our cat. When we walked in we were greeted immediately and warmly. It was like we were long-time clients when in fact it was our first visit. The people we interacted with were wonderful, warm, attentive and caring.First impressions are everything and I am so glad we decided to switch to Dr. Shelle and the team. You can tell that they all are passionate about what they do and I am confident my babies will be in good hands.
Оur kitty Bella needed a teeth cleaning at North Boulder Companion. As often happens, a bad tooth had to be pulled. It was a really good experience: everything explained, clear directions for before surgery and at home care both from Dr. Raines and the tech. Kitty even had an incubator with warm blankets after surgery!
This was our first time visiting the vet with our guinea pig, and I was so blown away by the depth of genuine care everyone showed both of us! Dr. Patton, Nikki, and Allison were all so friendly, kind and sincerely excited to receive and help our little piggie. It really meant a lot!
My dog is very hard to handle but I think part of her nervousness and agression was because she didnt feel very good. After her vet visit she is alot more happy. Thank you for taking good care of my lea. 😃
The team at North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital are amazing! They shower our dog with love, attention and astute care. They are patient, kind and very attentive to our dogs needs!
My dog is excited when we get to the vet, I feel that says enough.
Hey all you animal lovers in Boulder, I just had a great experience with my dogs check up at the North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital. The staff is very professional and welcoming. I give them 5 stars!!!!!
You guys rock as usual!!! Thank you!!!Your staff is top notch! I have 100% confidence that you take the best care of my best friend EVERY time I walk through the door. Not once in 25+ years have I ever questioned it. I know youre the best and I appreciate you more than words can say!
They have cared for our furry companions all the way to my scaly companions. Both our pups love the staff as well as the veterinarians. We love having a vet to go to where we don’t have to feel as stressed about about how much more our animals especially our dogs usually are about entering a building. And since we have a variety of different species of animals having one vet that cares for all of them is more convenient then having to them all to different vets.
I feel like they love and care for our dog as if he were their own. Appointments are easy to schedule, they are always on time, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
My family recently moved to Boulder from a rural community where everyone knew each other. Hence, a close relationship with our vet. Once landing in Boulder, my fur babies decided to introduce themselves to the dog cops. I needed to get them licenses asap. A luck of the google search brought us to Dr. Sue and her staff. They are amazing! Of course, no move can be complete without some fur baby drama including a grand maul seizure on Christmas Eve. Yes, we were packed. Yes, the pet sitter was at the house. Dr. Sue, as she had from the beginning, supported the least costly remedy and gave me her off duty info for the pet sitter as she knew I would be a 12hr drive away. This is the type of treatment a long standing client receives, not a newbie! Her staff always asks how they all are doing (there are 4 animals total) and knows them all by name. They have let us rush in after hours to get meds we had forgotten and are just they nicest people overall! I have no doubts that all the fur babies in my life are in great hands.
They have taken good care of my cat, Nimoy, for seven years now. Everybody there is friendly and willing to discuss any questions. I strongly recommend them.
Always greeted in friendly professional manner. All 3 vets take time to listen. Had to take our dog in for an emergency at their closing time yet staff kindly took great care of her despite the late hour! Yes, tests can be pricey with any pet but Ive found staff to be sensitive to our concerns and they work with us on any issues. Also prevented surgery on our Shih Zhu by recommending diet change thats been effective. Couldnt be happier.
Ive been going to N.Boulder Companion Animal Hospital for 16 years. Dr. Patton, the other veterinarians, vet techs and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, accessible and compassionate. Ive brought a mouse, many ferrets and now my Golden Retriever to them and can honestly say that they care deeply about all critters, no matter how tiny or different!
I strongly agree with the other bad reviews. We have 2 new kittens and one of them started vomiting frequently for a couple of days in a row. Dr. Patton told us we needed $750 worth of tests and drugs. We trimmed it down to $500 for the things that seemed most essential. We found out 2 weeks later what the actual problem was, when we re-introduced lamb to her diet. We had just began feeding her lamb without a thought. I had even mentioned this to Dr. Pattons assistant, thinking they might know if this could be a problem. What an expensive mistake it was bringing our cat here. I strongly discourage anyone from using this vet. Take the time to find a vet that is more selective and accurate with treatments.
Very friendly and attentive staff who deliver quality care for fair prices! Doctor Shelle worked really well with my pup when we brought him in to have his leg looked at. Typically our lab/border collie is skittish around new people but Shelles bedside manner was calming and non-threatening. I appreciated being presented with the treatment options and then given the vets opinion on appropriate next steps. I felt as though I still had the autonomy to make a choice based on the professional assessment and wasnt pressured into paying for additional tests.Scheduling was super easy and we were able to get a same-day appointment!
Love the NoBo Companion Hospital. We got an after-visit call to check on our pet. The vets do thorough exams and research. And I truly believe everyone there loves our pets as much as we do!
Thank you so much for your thorough approach to Louies condition--in your caring and respectful approach to him and to me, both tech and vet, in conversation and exams. So appreciate your squeezing him in, and attention to detail, eg. noticing the urine drips on the floor. Very grateful for the non-invasive method of diagnosing and treating his likely ingestion of someones pot remnants left in the park. Hes almost back to normal. Thanks again!Kathy and Louie
Great friendly and competent staff, super easy to make an appointment on-line!
This animal hospital is friendly, kind, and thorough with medical care. I have been taking my (senior age) Lhasa Apso here since 2014. We are always greeted warmly, have no issue getting in emergency appointments, and they give me a price estimate upfront (before doing anything) so I can plan accordingly. I especially love the text messaging system, which makes it easier to communicate and get reminders. And, I appreciate the quick email replies too. Thank you for loving my dog as your own. Hurley and I are truly grateful for Dr. Patton, Dr. Skarie, Dr. Raines, and all the staff :)
Dr. Patton is amazing for birds. I have 5 and they have my business! They truly care about the pets.
My dog and I were attended by a kind and caring staff, and received incredibly competent and compassionate care. I will not go anywhere else ever again!
Id had some trouble finding a vet in Colorado that I liked, and came to NBCAH when my 9 year old pup was having some tummy trouble. I cannot say enough about the kindness, patience and just flat-out niceness of all members of the staff. Everyone listened to my concerns and took the time to explain what would be best for my dog. It is apparent that everyone there loves animals and wants them to have the best care. We will take all of our animals to NBCAH from now on for all of their care. I live in Westminster and it is well worth the drive. I HIGHLY recommend this practice.
LOVE the staff. Super helpful and really welcomed my doggo and I to the area. 10/10 recommend. Plus, lots of treats.
Great vet to take your animals too, I can tell they truly care about your animals and they go above and beyond!
I have been taking both of my cats to North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital for a year now, since we moved to Boulder. We primarily use the email/smartphone app to make appointments and it works okay, we had our cat scheduled for twice in one day once, but it was cleared with a call to the vet. The staff are great. Ive seen Dr. Skarie recently for both Oscar and Musta, he listens well, answers questions and handles the cats well. Prices here are comparable across Boulder and I called many others for estimates on vet visits and teeth cleaning before choosing North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital.
We had an excellent experience with the care of our parakeet. Well definitely be back. Thanks so much!
Wonderful veterinarians and staff!! Very knowledgeable and showed great compassion towards my fur baby. Pnut wasnt even phased because of all the treats she got. :)
Staff is so friendly and great customer service. Dr. PATTON is the best. Highly recommend!
Overpriced
Watch out for this clinic! Dr. Patton charges much more than the going rate for your dogs medications. I would have never stayed here if my previous and wonderful vet hadnt retired and sold her clinic to Patton. My dog was geriatric and so I stayed for continuity, but Im sorry that I did. While we were with her, this vet prescribed the wrong medication without apology and did expensive, unnecessary blood work. We kept thinking that the last incident was just a mistake, and wouldnt happen again. Besides that, this clinic is really strange about how they treat people. Today was the final, hurtful event that causes me to make public my experience with them:A few days ago we contacted Home to Heaven to come to our home and assist our beautiful Golden on his final journey. The Home to Heaven vet was kind and helpful, under the saddest circumstance. In our distress, we didnt realize that the ashes would eventually be sent to NBCAH for us to pick up (which was fine, we just were overwhelmed and didnt remember whether the ashes would come to our home, or where to pick them up)An hour ago, I got an unexpected call from NBCAH (so soon!) saying they had received the ashes and I should come pick them up. The caller was shockingly cold and unsympathetic, so her words were confusing (considering the context). When I picked the ashes up, the receptionist was as casual and uninterested as the caller. She nonchalantly handed me the box, said, there you go, and turned away to do some filing. I couldnt believe what I was experiencing. And in case youre giving them the benefit of the doubt, I was the only one in the clinic, so she wasnt being distracted. There are so many good vets in Boulder, please consider looking elsewhere. And if you are a patient, please check those prices that shes charging you for medications. Youll find them to be outrageous.
Fantastic staff. Made us feel comfortable, welcome and cared for.
The staff here is terrific! They are great to the animals, and very patient with the humans too.
Dr Raines is the kindest most knowledgeable veterinarian in the area. She makes my Jake and me feel much better
Love North Boulder! They take such good care of my dog!
Dr Patton was very helpful and knowledgeable when we brought our chicken to see her. We have saved their phone number so that we can bring all our animals there!
Best vets around! And they are fantastic with my challenging and complex heeler
My dog has gone here almost her whole entire life (15 1/2 years). The last time I took her she got excited when she got out of the car. I am appreciate the time and attention that Dr. Esh has taken to properly evaluate the many issues that have creeped up in my dogs life lately and the time to thoroughly discuss the treatment options.
My experience was very good and the doctor was very kind and the staff was attentive!
Eight years ago, on New Years Eve, we realized our cat, Lexie, was extremely ill and we brought her to see Dr. Patton as an emergency case. Dr. Patton immediately and correctly diagnosed what was wrong and was able to get her on the path back to health. Some other experts we saw during her recovery (at the CSU Vet School) suggested that Lexie would likely only live a few more weeks. We continued with the course of care Dr. Patton suggested, and Lexie is still doing well under Dr. Pattons care today. Dr. Patton is a caring vet who listens to what we say about Lexies behaviors and reactions and she always works with us to drive towards the best care for Lexie. We would highly recommend NBCAH and Dr. Patton.Update (9/2017): Sadly Lexie left us last year, but we enjoyed an additional 12 years with her after the episode described above. We now have two new kittens, one of which has such a wild hair he hurt himself, so we have already have been to see Dr. Patton for a knee injury. As with Lexie, the care has been top notch and we continue to be very happy with the service we receive at NBCAH.
These guys are great! I take my rats and dog here and they are fantastic!!
When our 12-year-old Pharaoh Hounds first signs of kidney failure came about, I called North Boulder Companion Animal Hospital and they were able to see us right away. I felt assured knowing that many of the doctors on staff gave their opinions and recommendations. I appreciated that they give you a quote for recommended vs. minimal treatment options, instead of ordering a whole bunch of tests and meds to be later shocked when you get the bill. Also, they always called the next day to follow up. We moved out of state and learned the hard way that not all animal hospitals give the level of care we found at North Boulder Companion. Our dog has since passed, but we will always be grateful to NBCAH.
Have taken all our cockatiels and now Quaker parrots also to this vet. Had a good experience.
Brought my rats in yesterday for a general look-over and to find something to help abes sneezing. i saw allison and dr. patton, and both were super kind and patient. very understanding and knowledgeable about rats, which is exactly why i picked this particular office. very sweet to my boys and extremely helpful. plus, dr. patton prescribed a med thats banana flavored and theyre so eager for it they go straight for the bottle! you cant beat that. ive never had an easier time administering meds to any animal!
Awesome people and service ... Easy to recommend these guys !
Cant say enough great things about how well they treated our pup!
Ridiculous policies.
Amazing Drs and Staff
