Great experience. I cannot tell you enough how appreciative I was for the work performed to correct my check engine light. It turned out to be an erroneous code and they said if It returns I can come back for further diagnosis. I also had a small coolant leak and was told to add some bg cooling system sealer. I am familiar with bg so I gave it a try. So far so good.You really dont know the value of a good mechanic until you need one.They are professional, to the point, and honest with the work performed. When the owner takes time to take a peek at your car and is honest about the repairs needed, it helps tremendously👍👍

Went here to have them run general diagnostics on my car. They did, and they then explained everything to me and told me what needed to be attended to immediately and what could wait. I appreciated that. There were a few things that were odd to me though.At first, they wanted to charge me $500 to change my car battery, which seemed quite steep. I called them and told them that it seemed steep, and then they told me it was a mistake and that it would actually cost $300. Hmm, weird. Still seemed high, so I decided against it as well as any other services.When I went to pick up my car, I noticed that my stereo no longer had power going to it. Also weird. I went in and asked them to look at it, which they did. The guy who looked at it came back and was basically laughing it off and insinuating that the stereo had actually been broken when I brought it in and I had just not noticed. This was false. I can remember the song I was listening to as I parked my car there, actually. They then told me that they basically couldnt do anything about the stereo, so I left.Im not generally one to leave angry reviews about a place (in fact Ive never done it before), but Im pretty dissatisfied with my experience here, particularly with the fact that my stereo worked fine when I brought my car in and was no longer functioning at all when I picked the car up. Its not really a cheap thing to go and get fixed myself, so Im not too happy about it. Make of this what you will, but that was my experience.

After having some undesirable service elsewhere I decided to try out Johns Auto Care in Boulder. These guys are great! Fast friendly and very professional! I mainly worked with Robert but I also got a chance to visit with the owner John. I highly recommend Johns Auto care in Boulder. They really do care! Thanks guys! I’ll be back.

I took my car in to have the brakes looked at and was quoted a price two times more expensive than the three other local independent repair shops I called. I wouldnt complain if it were slightly more expensive and the parts were higher quality, but a difference of over $400 is hard to legitimately explain. I appreciate the free multi-point inspection though.

Highly recommend! Have taken two cars here and completely trust them. At a point where I needed to repair a few things at, they took the time to explain what each part did for the car, how it would effect the safety and/or drive, and even which thinks I could push to the next month while I reset my budget. Happy to have been referred to them a few years back.

The way he explains the issues with my car, the options, and his recommendations makes me feel like I am speaking with a good friend. Ive never written a Google review but I felt it was necessary this time. Ive been to several mechanics in Boulder, both commercial and mom and pop shops, and Johns Auto Care has been the absolute best! I called Johns Auto Care one afternoon and they were able to see me first thing the next morning.Everyone I met was extremely friendly and ridiculously helpful. Junior was very courteous, knowledgeable, and honest about the work I needed to get done.The shuttle service (which I believe most places should have) is a great upside, so I can drop off my car and still handle my other errands.The positive reviews here are no exaggeration to the exceptional service provided at Johns Auto Care. I would HIGHLY recommend.

If you are looking for an honest, friendly mechanic, look no further. Since moving back to Colorado, I have been to a few mechanics. One shop gave me an estimate of $2,230 for major repairs. I took it John, and they had a very different assessment. I did not need any major repairs, just a minor repair that cost me $87.46. I will never go to any other mechanic again. Brought my car in after the check engine light came on following an oil change. Johns diagnosed a faulty sensor promptly and got it fixed before I left the office that same day. I came here after the splash shield on my Prius cracked from driving through deep snow and was told the exact 3 parts that I needed to get. I ordered those 3 parts and they put on 2 of those parts telling me they couldn’t find a place for the 3rd part (beginning of my suspicions). About 2 weeks later the splash shield on the highway came off damaging other parts underneath the car. The previous replacement was after 5 years of driving through snow and mountains and this happened after 2 weeks of driving through urban streets with one light snow. I came back telling them that they just have not installed it properly and one of the main mechanics just got angry at me from the moment we started talking, denied everything, and interrupted me every time I tried talking. All in all, I lost about $200 not including the new damage from that large piece coming out on the highway and damaging other areas under the car (at a minimum $300). Dishonest and not willing to admit that some of their mechanics basically screwed up.Updates to refute this dishonest man trying to save face: the “repair” was originally done on the 15th and I came back on the 5th (so 3 weeks) and while I drive for Uber/Lyft on the side, I’m a full time student and didn’t put close to 4K miles on my car in that time (not that that would be an excuse in any case for a piece coming off). I don’t keep track but a liberal estimate is that at most I drove 2KNext point- the piece came off before the major snow storms— I called to come in but was told you wouldn’t have any time until the following week which is when I did come after the major snow and so yes the car was packed with ice underneath as happens w so many cars in Colorado. And I’ve been backing off curbs for 5 years and 155K so it doesn’t make sense that a brand new piece that was installed properly would fly off in a few weeks.Next and perhaps most importantly- the body work and damage to the front fascia which you are talking about IS the additional damage. That whole front bumper was basically perfect prior to that piece flying off.Lastly, I find your apology disingenuous considering how loud and disrespectful you were towards me never even letting me talk. Please apologize for that. That would be genuine.

I love the way they text you a full layout of the inspection and notes directly from the mechanic. The shuttle service is awesome and everyone was so nice. Was happy to pay my bill for an excellent experience.

I brought my car in for a routine oil change--everyone was very friendly and helpful and even explained in more detail than I usually get what needed replacing on my car and when so I can plan ahead. They even had a much nicer waiting area than most places Ive been. Great place!

I got my car towed to Johns for a second opinion when the dealership I went to quoted a crazy-high price to fix my cooling system. Johns staff was very gracious & called me regularly to update me on the status of my car.And as it turns out, when they ran the same pressure test, there were only two little parts that needed replacing. Johns fixed my car for less than 1/10th of what the other guys were wanting to charge!On top of that, the work was done in one business day. I will definitely be coming back here.

I have been coming to Johns for 6 years and cant recommend them enough. I have two cars, a new one and an old. The old one is always a little unpredictable and finicky and sometimes takes some extra time to diagnose and fix the problem. The mechanics always get the job done fast and go the extra mile to make it right if something is not perfect. Example one: I picked the car up after some work had been done....the next day the accelerator was not working properly. They drove out to my house to fix the problem! Example two: The old car had a continuing problem where the belts would squeal. John and is team tried twice to solve the problem. When the squealing came back the second and third time we were only charged for parts....no labor. John also came in on his day off before Christmas to get the job done. 5 Stars! Thanks, John!

I have been taking both of my cars to John for about 5 years. Last week I brought one of my cars in and found out it was going to cost almost $2000 to fix (compromised head gasket). Being that its a 15 year old car with a lot of miles, we chose not to do the work. I wont bore you with the details, but John treated me more like a nephew than a customer. On Saturday afternoon, I went online and requested a Tuesday appointment with 4 items: Oil change, Fuel Filter, Tire Rotation, Tailgate repair.* All items were done on time and on budget.* I was able to confirm the appointment via email on Monday morning without a phone call.:->* John was personable and shows a passion for cars and trucks.

Ive been looking for a reliable auto service and repair store, and I saw that Johns Auto Care had good reviews, so I thought Id try it out.I found the customer service personnel to be friendly, and for all I know, the service technicians did a fine job servicing my vehicle. The only problem is that they were apparently smoking marijuana while they serviced it.After taking my car to Johns, it smelled like marijuana for about 2-3 weeks. If youre into that sort of thing, maybe Johns is the place for you. I, however, didnt appreciate it.

I have been going to Johns for over 3 years. Prior to moving to Boulder, my mechanic was my brothers best friend, so I was used to excellent, honest service.I first went to Johns when I popped the oil pan of my Jetta. I went to a quick-lube place who alerted me of the problem & told me that it would cost about $700. A friend referred me to Johns, who quoted me $400. Needless to say, I went to Johns and have been going ever since. They let me know what my car needs done now, and what can wait. They have never charged me more than estimated, and have quickly fixed anything that I had issue with. I am a satisfied customer!

Johns auto care was very nice to deal with. Did inspection since I was not in the cue - I thought we were scheduled. - took me back under lift and pointed out where the head gaskets were wet with oil and the steering gear and boot were wet with fluid. What they missed was a torn passenger side cv boot and how the car had been in a front end collision the right headlight replaced (new lens)and the front uni-body pulled back out. Radiator not correctly fastened in.The passenger fender was replaced and a liner for wiring harness not installed correctly and belt cover missing. My regular mechanic said I should ask for my inspection fee back. Thank you Intermountain Subaru.

When My clutch gave out in my 1999 Subaru Forester I called Johns Auto because a friend had recommended him. I have never been treated so well at a mechanics before. John gave me a ride home and figured out that the problem was a hydraulics hose underneath the clutch. He also did a thorough evaluation of the car and made a list of the most important fixes in the near future. John and the woman at the front desk, Rachel, were very knowledgeable and helpful. Its so refreshing to be able to trust your mechanic! If you have any problem with your car, large or small, go to John!

I cannot give enough praise to this shop. Ive never taken the time to write a review or give a rating for anything but these guys deserve it! We came in for a pre-purchace inspection and oil change. Fast, friendly and DID NOT overcharge or jerk us around. They even had toys in the lobby for my baby to play with while we waited. His staff and he himself will give you a detailed understanding, in clear terms, of what they can do and how long it will take. And they offer a courtesy shuttle when the job will take most of the day or more.I am glad to find as caring a business as Johns. Recently, I experienced the dreaded signs of a bad U-Joint; tremors at all times when driving, severe rattling when driving over anything even slightly bumpy, and the odd sounds and pops of the needle bearings turning to dust under acceleration. John and the rest of the guys at Johns had me driving within a day, despite the yoke of the driveshaft sustaining damage due to both my negligence and ignorance. One often hears horror stories about auto repairs and the costs, wait times, and general pain, but this could not have been a better experience. I ended up paying less than I was quoted for, which was already halfway cheaper than another shops quote for the exact same job. Huge thanks to Johns, I will be doing all of my maintenance and other work with you all from now on!
