I purchased my Ascent in August. Great experience overall. The facility is clean and theyve got covid precautions in mind. The staff is all very friendly. I worked with Kyle Hoffman and he was incredibly helpful going through options and hes very knowledgeable about all features and inventory. I had to reserve my vehicle due to low inventory and Kyle was great at keeping me up to date on delivery timeline. I would absolutely recommend working with him.
The work was excellent. I like that they do the video! Thats a fun addition to service. I also very much enjoyed that the south Boulder Creek Trail runs behind the dealership so I could go for a walk while waiting!

(Ive never purchased a vehicle here; this review is about the Service Center) Ive been a customer for about three years and I plan to keep coming back. Their prices are fair, they stand by their work, and theyre very friendly. If youre getting something bigger done to your car (i.e., not express service), theyre really good about checking in and keeping you up-to-date on how the repairs are going. Ive never had any sticker shock after repairs are done because the service reps Ive worked with have always provided clear and accurate quotes.I worked with Julian most recently and he was all of the above: friendly, communicative, professional, clear and accurate about the work and cost (even helped me apply service coupons I didnt know about!)I also really, really appreciate their shuttle service. The cars are clean and the drivers have always been smart and safe (and friendly). I highly recommend the Flatirons Service Center.
The flatiron Subaru dealership was absolutely fantastic!! I went to another dealership and the Boulder Subaru definitely made me feel way more comfortable and I’m so happy with my car. Buyer beware! If you use this dealer or any of the independent Subaru repair centers please do your due diligence and ensure they are charging you the proper repair times. Subaru of America has posted times as to how long a repair should take and the dealers should abide closely to those times. This dealer tried charging me 12.7 hrs to do a job Subaru of America says should take 4.4hrs under warranty and 6.5 for cash pay. After talking with Subaru of America customer care they informed me that due to their franchise agreement, Subaru of America couldn’t intervene because the car was out of warranty and that the dealer, in essence, could charge whatever times they wanted. After further investigation it was brought to my attention by someone in Boulders auto community that some of the local Subaru shops meet every so often to discuss labor times and all get on the same page so when you call an independent shop their labor rates will be similar. Guess what….that’s exactly what I discovered. They were pretty much the same, about double book time! As soon as I called a few shops outside of Boulder the times dropped and things were much more reasonable. Now I can’t prove it but it seems as though Flatiron is engaged in a price fixing scheme. Please don’t take my word for it. Just double check your labor charges. Take their labor charges and divide it by their labor rate ($165hr) to figure out how many hours they charged you, then cross reference it with Subaru of America stated times (most Subaru technicians post them on Subaru forums or call a shop outside of Boulder for an estimate). Not saying quality of work isn’t good as I pulled my car immediately after I discovered this but if a shop has the audacity to double labor times and be so dishonest along with conspiring with other shops in the area, I would also doubt their quality of work.
After being told by the place Ive been taking my car to for maintenance that it would be a week before they could look at my car to find out if the strange noise it started making rendered it unsafe to drive or not, I dropped in at Flatirons since I was nearby. Despite a long line, they pulled a technician away (it took less than a minute), determined it had to do with the air conditioner, and was safe to drive until I could get it fixed. Finally, I could breath again. THANK you Vance for you compassionate reception and willingness to seek help. Thank YOU Julian for efficiently coordinating the process and setting me up with an appointment for next week. You were both very helpful while never ignoring or delaying any of your other customers. Youve got my business for everything from now on!

Ordered a part from here online and it was a great experience. Unlike other similar parts stores they didnt charge a ridiculously for shipping or marked the product up like my local Subaru dealers. Shipping was very quick as well. Kudos for being an honest dealership. Highly recommended!
I have always been pleased with the Quality of service when I take my car in for regular maintenance. The Oil change prices are very reasonable and default to high-quality full-synthetic oil. Its always nice to get the video inspection of the undercarriage as well.Only caution would be that they default to very low mileage service intervals on their reminder stickers - Usually 3k miles - Good to be aware of, but not a bad thing!The service is also always excellent between the shuttle and the service reps (Thanks Edgar!)

The shuttle rides to and from we’re lovely in new vehicles with courteous and engaging (but not pushy) drivers.The service report was excellent, not only telling me that things were fine, but giving me actual numbers for things like tire tread.The check in and check out was smooth with only a 2-minute wait on the way in.

Im not one to walk into a dealership and just take whatever they offer so I spent a lot of time speaking with other dealerships before buying With James/Flatiron. While there were many other nice people at the other dealerships, I absolutely experienced 0 BS when it came to working with Flatiron. No hidden fees, no cheesy sales pitches. I came in with a request for a specific Outback and the best price I had received, James found me a vehicle, got it brought in from out of town, and gave me the best price. He was honest and easy to work with. If you hate car shopping give James Wells a call!
I have taken all of my Subarus for service here for many years. Today, I had another excellent experience! I had an appointment and I was greeted promptly; the service advisor had a great attitude. He listened carefully to the problem I was having and already had my warranty information prepared. I went home and I got a text within an hour from the technician working on my car. She had a video walk through explaining not only what was needed, but a thorough explanation of all of my car’s systems, from all of the undercarriage parts to the engine. I love this feature! My car was ready in a timely manner and the pick up was very efficient. Overall, I had such a positive experience!
This weekend I purchased my 3rd Outback from Flatirons Subaru. Once again I had a great experience. James answered all my questions with absolutely no pressure to buy. I am happy with my experience at Flatirons Subaru. At first they had quoted me at $200 for activating a sensor I had installed myself (they wanted to re-install it). I was able to work with Ryan in the service department to negotiate a better rate given that the install was already completed. Wonderful service! I came in to have my Forester worked on- getting two things fixed under warranty, an oil change and a tire rotation. From the start everyone was very friendly and quick to get me with a specialist. As the service was being completed, Peter talked me through what was done and went over a couple of recommendations. He was super knowledgeable and informative but not at all pushy. I purchased my Subaru from another nearby dealership but wish I purchased it here! I’ll be back any time I need to get work done on the car!

Brought my Outback in to the Express service to have an oil change and general inspection. It only took an hour and while I was waiting, I received a cool video from the technician showing the undercarriage of the car and all the areas that had been inspected (everything looked great!). Everyone was super helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this dealership for both its sales and service!

I’ve had to bring my car here a total of 3 times and 2 out of the 3 times I had an appointment to get my car serviced and both times had to come back to get my car after about 6-8 hours of it being there all day and just sitting there. Not being serviced. So irritating. And every time I come to get it the people are extremely unapologetic about the fact that it’s extremely inconvenient. Terrible terrible customer service and work ethic. Never ever going back here.

He explained that delivery of a new build could take several months but we did order and it was delivered well in advance of our expectations. My Subaru Outback was 10 years old and had none of the safety features. I traded it in for a 2021 Outback with all the bells and whistles. Just love the new car. Flatirons Subaru is a gem. I had such a great experience with McKenna, and she really made the whole buying experience easy and low pressure. Im thankful she let me go through it at my own pace and it was all-in-all a day and night contrast compared to the experience I had in Englewood at Groove Subaru that was bully sales tactics, bro sales culture, and surprise market adjustment fees--totally gross, and a waste of my time. Flatirons on the other hand was a breeze. Thanks for making it enjoyable and straightforward to buy our first Subaru!

Had an issue with the drive shaft bearing on my new Crosstrek Sport while on vacation in Boulder. They got my car in immediately, went out of their way to get the parts in and repair done before I had to go home, and gave me an identical loaner car while mine was in the shop. Everyone I dealt with was extremely helpful and courteous, right down to the valets that brought me the loaner car and returned my car after the repairs were done. He answered my questions about some of the newer models but some he could not answer so took me over to the sales dept. to get my answers.

This dealership is the best dealership Ive ever encountered. I recently needed a total short block replacement on a 2012 Forester, & everyone from the front desk, to my advisor Ryan, to the techs made it the most painless process ever. They kept clear communication the entire time. From the time it was dropped off by the tow truck to the night I picked it up, the entire only process (for a brand new short block, might I add again) only took about 3 weeks. Being involved with performance vehicles myself & having dealt with many different dealerships & mechanics over the years, Flatirons Subaru is BY FAR the best. Cannot recommend them enough! Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

I dropped off my car two weeks early since it was non- functional even though they were booked out more than two weeks. They took care of it in downtime and got it fixed within 2 days. Their advisor system gives you a single point of contact and helps streamline the decision making process. They have an excellent online system that allows you to view your cars status and see videos about the repair. World class service. Also not any more expensive then SuperRupair who I no longer recommend.
After a long process of choosing a new vehicle for our family, my wife and I bought a new Outback from Shane and Kerri at Flatirons Subaru. We are Costco members using the auto buying program, and both Shane and Kerri made the experience seamless, easy, and pleasant. We were treated professionally, and got our kids buckled up in our new family wagon with almost no delay! Thank you for making car buying easy and fun, we will be back 100%.

He was extremely courteous, listened and sympathized with all aspects of my situation, helped me understand what needed to be done for my fathers car, and a few days later, took the time to send me digital copies of the documents that he had given me physically. I worked with Kyle Hoffman and let me just say 11/10! He made me feel at home and made sure I was comfortable with everything and anything! If I had a question he couldnt answer he would write it down and got me the answer by the end of the day! I went in not knowing want I wanted and I test drove my dream car (WRX) and I fell in love. He got me into my dream car with the payments I wanted as well. If I had to do it all over again I would. If you ever go here make sure you ask for Kyle because he will make you feel like a friend and treats you like a family member.

I had been going to this dealership for roughly three years with great service on my Outback. I really liked the dealership, and was extremely happy with the quality of service, customer support, and prices.However, this year I brought in my car for a check engine light issue. The tech quickly diagnosed it and said that a fix would run me $500. Trusting them, I believed it and chose to do the service. Soon after I got the car back, the check engine light came back on. When I ran the error code from the car, it was the same error code as before. I assumed it was some minor mistake or maybe it would resolve itself soon. Just to be safe, I brought it back to the dealership to get it checked out. Then, the tech told me that this fix would run me another $400. Confused, I asked the tech why the same error code would cause two unrelated problems, and b. He said The code refers to problems around the general engine area. Which sounded suspicious to me. After he reassured me some more that it was a different problem, I asked if he could just confirm it with the technician working on the car. After a few minutes, he came back and said that he had been wrong, and that the service they had performed last time was not related to the check engine error code that I had before. They claimed they mistakenly inputted the wrong error code into their system. And therefore fixed the wrong part of the car in the previous service. How could a technician fix something that was operating and performing functionally? Would they not notice that the parts they were repairing were not faulty? Anyways, I figured that this was all just a mistake that Flatirons would take care of. They didnt initially offer any compensation, so I asked for it. They initially offered $200 off the new service, which seemed shady to me. I paid $500 for a service I didnt need or want, to fix absolutely nothing causing the check engine light in the car. Basically, they get to pocket $300 in this scenario. I denied the offer, and asked for more, since not only was I out $900 for a service that should have been $400 (the second services cost), but I had to go through the hassle of doing the detective work to find out their errors. Soon after, the manager called me back and proceeded to complain, at me, about how unreasonable I was being. He couldnt understand why I wouldnt want to pay for the previous service, claiming that you would have needed it eventually. I told him that I paid for that service to fix the check engine light, and that they performed the incorrect service on the car. Yet, he tried and tried to claim the service they had performed, the one they had mistyped into their system, as valid and one that I should pay for. Basically, he was trying to claim that I was unreasonable for requesting money back on a repair service that was not requested and not needed. It felt like I was in a shady repair shop, not a licensed Subaru dealership. Out of frustration, I hung up on him. He called me back five minutes later offering to comp the service, which I accepted. In the end, it worked out, my car was fixed and I paid an appropriate amount to do so. The problem was the insane amount of hoops I had to jump through to get it done, and the incredibly hostile attitude of the manager. I was really surprised this all happened, since I had three fantastic years of service on my car at the dealership beforehand.Ive never written a negative review about any business before, mostly because I know that businesses can make mistakes that deviate from their normal service level. But this was truly another level of poor service. The fact that it took hours of phone calls and frustrating explanations for them to simply do what is right was shocking. Ill never be returning and I hope you dont either.
There are standard, published times for repairs, depending on make and model, that every shop in the universe abides by - or should. For instance, a timing belt on a Forester is 3 hours. A shop may charge $125/hr or $180/hr but a timing belt should take 3 hours to fix. If the mechanic finishes before 3 hours, awesome; he/she gets paid for 3 hours and can move on to the next job. Flatirons service center assured me on the phone that they abide by standard published times and then quoted TWICE the book time to do the repairs. They also added in some unnecessary repairs. When I questioned the extra hours, they said thats how long their mechanic needs. So I did not have them repair it and when I went to pick it up, there were more and different issues from when I dropped it a week earlier. I wouldnt want to see anyone who doesnt have dealer mechanics in the family like me get ripped off, so I would suggest calling around to get the # of hours for repairs from a few shops (and some outside of Boulder).

We have purchased 3 cars from Flatirons Subaru over the past 5 years and have been very happy. The most recent purchase was due to 36 week pregnant wife being rear ended in her 2020 Crosstrek at a red light. Fortunately everyone involved was fine but her car was totaled. It did its job in the accident. Purchasing a car 3 weeks before having a baby and dealing with insurance/layers etc was the last thing we wanted to deal with. Kyle Hoffman went above and beyond to get us the car that we wanted in a timely manner. Kyle was incredibly thorough and had excellent communication. He made the process of getting the car as simple and quick as possible, even during a time when inventory was very low due to CoVid. We will certainly continue to purchase our vehicles from Flatirons Subaru and I hope that we have the chance to work with Kyle again!
