I used to go to Marino everyday before COVID. Its a well equiped gym with any personal or group classes. Affordable price for the students and most of the people there are affiliated to Northeastern University.
I’m a freshman at NU and used the gym for the first time this morning and had a pretty awful experience. The lady monitoring everyone on the second floor wouldn’t let me take my mask off for even a second after high intensity training, and was constantly walking by making sure I was doing as I was told. Not wanting to get in trouble on the second day here, I complied as best I could and ended up vomiting all over her floor after not having an opportunity for fresh air which you can only have if you exit the building completely. I definitely do not recommend training here regularly if you’re a student and actually want to workout safely.
Its a awesome place to have workout or participate in sport activities with people of diverse age groups within 18-30 mostly. They dont have professional trainers but if you know what you are doing then its awesome.
Very clearly a vanity project first, a gym second. It looks great, but the actual space to do anything is extremely low. During any intramural season they will routinely have only 1 basketball court for all 20,000 students which is pathetic.
A Great place for fitness enthusiasts!A wide range of opportunities of various gym equipments, includes a separate running track, and indoor cycling & fitness studio
The employees need to wear deodorant . Like please, whoever is the manager please for all that is holy ask your make employees to just slap a little old spice on. Nothing is worse than tasting someones last meal while I deeply inhale breathe after a deadlift.
The fitness consultants will bug you to put clips on the bench barbell even if you have no spotter lol
Best place to workout ! Sauna available
Havent seen it fully yet because of the pandemic but I hope its good and everything must be available in sports section. University gym is good but a guide/trainer must be available for guiding people how to use certain gym machinery. COVID measures and precautions are taken everytime with good planning. Please make sure theres drinking water supply.
Awesome place. Well maintained.
Amazing place to workout and chill
Absolute joke of gym, seriously. App doesn’t work half the time, sign up times are grabbed as soon as they open up. This “gym” also has more rules than your average prison.Part of my tuition goes for this recreation center service and I can’t even use it. Definitely go to the ymca or bsc instead. Wish me luck trying to get a refund for the semester.
Awesome place offered by the University, has so many options for a perfect workout. Only problem is you need to sit uptight to get a spot for reservation. The gym slots gets booked very quickly.
Love the social distance set-up.
Clean and they have all the necessary equipments.Evenings can be crowded with University students.
Good commercial gym with lots of equipment including barbells and reasonably heavy dumbbells (up to 110). Decent array of machines. Too small for the Northeastern student population. All in all, a good gym for the average college student but not fulfilling if youre a more specialized or higher-level athlete.
Great place, great customer experience, world class gym facility
Super good
Passed through to parking, bought water.
Excellent place to workout. There are equipments available for different muscle development routines and theres a running track for cardio. I love that theres a Sauna for relaxation.
Safe and well equipped
This building must have been designed by a brilliant architect who has never actually used a gym— tons of natural light, not nearly enough equipment or floor space.
This is one of my favorite gyms. It has saunas, new workout areas, a pool, and much more. Very thankful for this experience.
Great place if you manage to avoid the crowded times. This place reaches capacity quite fast, so its important to go at the right time to make the most of it.
World class gym with every equipment you can think of along with various sports like basketball, badminton, volleyball etc.
It’s complete
Theyve been playing great classic rock music recently👌
Its okay just the appointment was kinda annoying
A state of art recreation center for Northeastern fellas.
If youre going here, then youre an NU student, so price is free, though I think adding a rec fee to the tuition is a bit unreasonable.Equipment is well-maintained, clean, and relatively modern. Theres a couple basketball courts, a field hockey arena, an indoor track, and a few aerobics rooms in addition to a reasonably equipped weight area and a TON of varied cardio machines. Classes and training are offered as well, but I havent done either. The big problem is that its not able to serve as many students as it does. The hours are actually really good for a uni gym (5 AM?!), and the space overall is big enough, but the balance is off. There are always plenty of open cardio machines and rarely open power racks and benches. This isnt helped by equipment often being broken and/or missing attachments, rules against deadlifting outside of the racks, and having only one toilet per floor. Also, forget Olympic lifting, there are no platforms or bumper plates, and theyre not very tolerant of noise.Overall, if you have access to Cabot and want to lift, go there. If you dont, strongly consider Squashbusters when its open; its smaller, but proportionally better balanced and less used. Otherwise, Marino isnt bad, it just shoots itself in the foot in a couple ways.
Weird setup for a gym and many machines are missing. Also it gets very crowded and its hard to use the facilities, especially showers, during peak hours. However there are two indoor basketball courts.
Its a huge gym and I like the quality and service provided by the staff here at Northeastern.
Best place to work out and play tennis and basketball if you’re a Northeastern University Student since it’s just near the campus.
Mind boggling Ambience plus gym is so well bulit
Among the best campus recreation facilities Ive been to. Wish they had longer summer hours though.
Very cramped, machines just thrown randomly in the hallways. Not much order to where things are placed. Extremely crowded at almost any time of day.
Solid gym. Two basketball courts and one multipurpose court. Lots of treadmills and a few ergs. Theres a 1/10th of a mile track on the top floor. 4 benches and 4 squat racks. Freaking packed from 4:30 to 7:30. ABP, Wollastons, and B. Good on the bottom floor with some seating.
Typically very crowded. Nice staff!
The best gym. I am speechless to describe.
Northeasterns main gym is extremely well equipped offering a diversity of fitness activities and group classes!
Northeasterns main gym. Good equipments and facilitities. Wish it were bigger.
Try to access the gym early in the morning or late in the night. Otherwise it is pretty crowded.
Great gym with lot of indoor courts and a track.
Gym, yoga, zumba, kick boxing and many more activities. A cool hangout for northeastern lads.
My all time favorite
Awesome place .Gonna miss it after graduation . Full facilities with shower and sauna .People are nice and determined .Proper place for excercising, both ametuer and professional .
Sometimes crowded. But quite a nice gym to have on campus.
Its a college gym. No complaints about the facilities and staff, but get extremely packed at times and the weight room is intimidating for new gym goers.
Good choice of equipment and never too crowded.
Its a nice gym, but there are only three basketball courts
Nice gym. Fee for entrance if not affiliated with northeastern
Great place to work out
Straight garbage. The school needs to expand the gym.
Good large gym, too crowded
Great gym, but avoid peak hours its too crowded
Best gym to workout in...
The dispenser is always running out of wipes for the machines and unless you go before 10AM it is going to be so packed you will be lucky to find any elliptical, treadmill, or bike that isnt occupied.
Best college gym in Boston
Trash bars and super crowded on weekdays
Nice array of machines and open long hours.
Perfect place to workout
It is the one stop for workout, bath, snacks and rest
Fun place to workout
Awesome equipments and maintenance
Superb area!!
Everything you want at a gym, but a layout where it feels like everyone is looking at you always
Daily goto gym.
Its usually more packed in the evenings.
Gym is too good
This is the beast of all gyms in Boston
Paradise on University
Plenty for everyone
There are a lot of equipment, free for students, not too many
