I would like to extend my very sincere thanks to HUGO Q, a technician from the maintenance team, who has been always here to help and reassure that nothing can bother me, when it comes to my apartment maintenance.Generally, living in complex buildings, has this advantage that I don’t need to think of the maintenance. What makes it different in AVA is: the very highly reliable, fast in response (the same day or hour that you fill in an online request, or call!), the high efficiency and responsibility of every individual in the maintenance team.Every single time, I ask for a maintenance work such as plumbing problem, AC, or electricity problem, this maintenance team is on top of their task.Especially today, Im writing for HUGO, a very kind, professional, and a highly skilled member of the team who is always here for us. His characters are: easy to communicate with, on time (quick in response), and very skillful, supportive. I cannot be more thankful to him and this excellent group of people that make living in AVA such a fabulous pleasant one. Just moved in this weekend, and its been so smooth and easy! I love the friendliness of the concierge and leasing teams. The apartment itself was clean and spacious. The location literally cant be beat. But most importantly, when I submitted a couple service requests this week, the maintenance was very speedy and efficient. For example, I put in a service request this morning, and Hugo came and fixed it by noon! He was super friendly and repaired both my requests quickly! So far, living here has been great and cant recommend it enough.

AVA Back Bay is a wonderful place to live. The location can’t be beat, super accessible to so much, restaurants, shopping, theater, parks. The building is clean, and well maintained. COVID precautions have always been followed.We have lived here for 6 years and plan to continue. We especially like the friendliness of the staff and the responsiveness of the maintenance department, (shout out to Hugo Q. who has been so helpful with any concerns that we’ve run across in our apartment).Thanks for all you do.

If you want to rent an apartment in this building, just be aware you are paying for a fantastic location in Back Bay, next to the Prudential Center and the T, and only 0.9 miles from Fenway. You’re getting all that along with a so-so apartment and having the concierge receive packages. If you’re okay with that, it’s great. I lived there for 3 years until it just wasn’t worth it anymore.First, I should mention that living in this building became a much more positive experience once they replaced the building manager, the maintenance manager and the leasing staff. They do a great job finding friendly and helpful people to work at the front desk. And the maintenance crew has always been stellar (a special shout-out to Hugo and Leo for your hard work).Though this is considered a “luxury” apartment building, it’s missing some amenities that would be nice.1) It does have central air, but the system is for the entire building, and you have only a little control over your the temperature in your individual unit.2) Washers and dryers are only available in 2 and 3 bedrooms. Everyone else has to use a common laundry room, which can be kind of gross.3) Get used to the smell of marijuana. Management seems to be unable and often unwilling to deal with the problem. I had to move to a new apartment because they refused to enforce the no smoking policy with my neighbors who smoked pot all day, everyday.4) if you have a car, the only parking is in the Prudential Public Garage, beneath the mall. When I moved out, it cost $425 per month just for a parking space.5) There is no sound-proofing. You can hear all of your neighbors (of course, that’s just part of living in an apartment building, but I could’ve done without hearing my neighbors flush their toilets.)I love Back Bay, and I was willing to deal with these issues so I could stay in that neighborhood. If you feel the same way, this is a good place to live.

I have lived in one apartment of this building for 4 years and I recently moved into another unit. I am hoping to stay here for my remaining 3 years in Boston. The units are on the old side and quite pricey for what they are (Ive looked at other buildings that are much newer/renovated for the same price). However, the buildings maintenance team is absolutely amazing and makes it very hard for me to leave because Im quite certain that I cannot find this kind of friendliness or service elsewhere. The maintenance team has helped me with various tasks over the years. They are very prompt and work around my schedule and I have a very difficult schedule to plan around. They not only help fix problems but also make helpful suggestions and carry them out. Most recently, Ryan was scheduled to help me with my light fixtures and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Many thanks to the AVA/Avalon maintenance team!

I moved into AVA Back Bay in March and its been a great experience so far. A big shout out to the team - Stephan, Kristjana and Kathryn have made the process of moving in and answering all my questions as well as providing recommendations a true joy. They go the extra mile, are always upbeat, friendly and forthcoming. It goes without saying the location is unbeatable, my studio is very spacious with ample light and very quiet. Theres also access to the gym which is never crowded. This place is a true gem in the heart of the Back Bay. Highly recommend!

Dont do it. Weve lived in the building for 2 years and are always calling maintenance about plumbing issues. Weve had two pipes burst (yearly tradition for us), the walls are paper-thin, and management is extremely unhelpful. That being said, HUGE shoutout to the service desk downstairs and the people who work there - they are AMAZING and handle all deliveries, packages, and guests with a friendly and courteous attitude.Overall - WAY overpriced for what youre getting

We moved to Boston two years ago from NYC. We were used to the convenience of having everything within walking distance of where we lived. This building maintains the convenience that we were used to as it is in a very central location and close to everything we need. It also has some great amenities that we did not have before, including a parking garage right in the building! Hugo Q and the maintenance team have been so helpful with fixing various things within our apartment and have done so in a timely manner. It is always a pleasure to see them. Last year we had an alarm going off in our AC/Heating unit in the middle of the nightand the maintenance team arrived at 2am to shut it off for us! They have been great!

Highly recommend! After thoroughly researching and visiting high rise buildings in Back Bay and South End, we decided to move into AVA Back Bay and couldn’t be happier with our decision. As numerous other reviews have highlighted, Sarah was superb—warm, patient and highly effective. She maintained communication with us before, during and after the move. The building itself is well-maintained, well-staffed and comes with many conveniences/unique perks given its central location. We are loving our bright, spacious, newly renovated apartment and hope to stay for several years.

Great location. Within walking distance to Boston’s main shopping area. The staff here are very warm-hearted and responsive, especially Stephan Meja. I’m Internationally based before moving in Boston this summer, so I couldn’t visit the property before renting it, but Stephan answered every question I had and made the process very smooth. I checked in around midnight time, Stephan told me in details how to get to the apartment entrance and coordinated with the concierge to make sure I get the keys when I arrive. The concierge staff was also very helpful. I had a wonderful experience at AVA Back Bay and I highly recommend this place to people looking for luxury apartments in Boston.

Update: July 16 2021It is never enough to give credit to the maintenance team!When everyone in this city is complaining about the heat in the summer, here, in AVA we say it is too cool!Yes, chilling and cool in summer!This time was: Louise and I am very thankful to him to adjust the AC.Jun 22, 2020,I write 2020 here, but this is one of the many times so far this year, that I have received great maintenance service.Before noon, I asked for a tile refilling grout (a material that you fill between the tiles of the bathroom floor), and I received it just this afternoon. I am more than grateful.Sincere and many Thanks to the person who did the job, for your professionalism, manner and respectfulness.Thank you again.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------May 2020Leo is such a great skillful person. Ava Back Bay Apartments didn’t do a good enough inspection for when I was having furniture delivered, not noting that my floors were completely scratched up before my furniture was delivered. They are now coming for the furniture company, and me, for payment of something that was scratched up before anyone showed up. I will NOT be paying for floors to be fixed when I haven’t even moved in yet. The furniture company I used took pictures of the floors before they even started to move anything into the complex and this apartment community refuses to take any blame. Do NOT waste your money here. They don’t take care of their furnishings and will try and charge you for something that was damaged before hand, EVEN IF YOU’VE NEVER STEPPED FOOT INTO THE BUILDING! This has caused my divorce and move to be even more stressful than it should have been, especially with all of the COVID-19 drama. I almost want to cancel everything and find somewhere else but I’m sure they’d charge me for cancelling my lease early due to it and would also charge me for floors that I haven’t stepped foot on.

Have lived at the AVA Back Bay for 6+ years, one thing has remained constant, the maintenance staff is nothing short of WONDERFUL. By far the nicest group on site and most receptive to any issues.Carmen has been really, really GREAT to work with, when I moved apartments within the community she helped me with all the details I needed for the move, she also had helped me “recycle” old furniture on several occasions, she’s timely, consistently awesome and always follows-up to make sure to close the loop. I always try and call the maintenance office in the morning because I know Carmen will answer and she will take care of whatever the issue.Also Leo has been a godsend, since the AC doesn’t turn on until mid-June every year Leo checks the status of my ACs, adjusts the thermostat to the coldest possible setting and always checks back in to make sure I’m satisfied.I feel very fortunate to live in a community with such wonderful people who go out of their way to take care of you.Updated review as of April 2021 - Just want to reiterate that the maintenance staff still does not disappoint : Leo, Dan, Hugo are all amazing and have been tremendously helpful fixing lights, sinks, AC unit etc as I have moved into a different unit in the building.Also Katherine from the leasing office is amazing - seriously the best person Ive ever dealt with in my 8 years here, so nice and so well versed in customer service. Regardless of how big or small a question is the management team works so well together to help you in every and any way possible with coordinating movers, furniture and deliveries. I moved into AVA Back Bay this past July and could not be happier. The location is unbeatable, the units are spacious and quiet, and the gym is solid. The place has everything you could possibly want. However, the real reason behind my five start review is the incredible staff, especially the maintenance team. My experience with AVA Back Bay has been nothing short of wonderful since the moment I expressed interest in living there. The leasing agents are very prompt in their responses and attentive to your needs and questions, and the building staff are friendly and welcoming. They also work hard to provide fun events for residents, such as trivia games and paint nights. Personally, this is the perfect place to live for a short commute to work, a convenient grocery store across the street, a gym downstairs, and a beautiful view of Boston and the Charles River. I also love that the building is connected to Prudential for easy access to its shops and restaurants, and it is centrally located in Boston; theres so much to do all around you!

Sarah DiMartino is absolutely fantastic and worked hard to make sure that the move went smoothly and wit the least amount of stress possible. The maintenance group led by Khalid Kalila insured that the apartment was in perfect condition for the move, which it was. The concierges were all extremely gracious and helpful during the move as well. As everyone know, moving is extremely stressful and the attention from the AVA staff certainly helped to decrease that.

Ive been living in the Avalon/AVA building for 10 out of the 13 years Ive been in Boston. The building is in the best location and the staff is great to work with!! Both the management and maintenance teams are great and I know if there is ever a problem it will be resolved right away!! I cant rave enough about them or my experience living in the community!! I am moving from California to Boston, and I was worried about finding an apartment in Back Bay that had the amenities I wanted. I visited half a dozen nice apartments, but when I toured this one, I knew it was the place for me. Sarah is so nice and welcoming, and was able to answer all of my questions. She stays in touch with me (always quickly replying to my emails) and weve been able to coordinate my cross-country move without a hitch. The building is renovated and has great amenities like a gym and central air, which Ive learned are nearly impossible to find in Back Bay. I have a one bedroom apartment with hardwood floors and natural light. Its exactly what I wanted. The Avalon website for residents has a complete move-in app I loved. In less than an hour, I signed up for renters insurance, electricity, cable, and found a vet for my cat. They have made this move easier than when I moved from one house to another in the same city.

I will be moving to Ava Back Bay, from Ohio in April, I greatly look forward to doing so. The apartment market difference was a lot to handle; Sarah has worked with me to help me find an apartment, and answer the large number of questions I have had. She walked me through the application, and was able to make some changes in reference to dates and moving security deposits from one apartment to the final one I had signed the lease for. I could not have asked for a better experience and I hope it will only get better after moving in and I will update my review after that happens. Thank you***UPDATE***I have lived in Ava Back Bay for about 6 months, and I am very happy to live here. It is very quite- as in you can not hear neighbors or the city through windows or walls. The staff is always pleasant and helpful; the events that are hosted are fun and allow an easy way to meet neighbors. My only complaint is the Air/Heat is always running and we do not have full control of it. We only have a Warmer-Normal-Cooler setting. Which makes it extremely difficult to get it to a comfortable temperature, and causes the air to become very dry inside the apartment.

I love the apartments, community amenities (gym and community rooms), and the wonderful concierge (who are friendly and go above and beyond to help you). I recently moved to the AVA building and so thankful to the leasing staff. A special thanks to Justin Smith and Ryan Pfannenstein for their hard work and care. Im looking so much forward to moving in to Ava Back Bay next weekend. I came to Boston 2 weeks ago and Sarah has been so helpful in finding a great apartment from me. From the first interaction, she has been following up every day making sure I was updated on the availability and prices and she was very flexible in terms of showings of various options and also when I wanted to come back for a second round of showings. Moving is never fun, but the experience was smooth with the help of Sarah DiMartino! She helped me through the process and was always willing to answer questions. Ive lived at AVA Back Bay for the past two years and really love it. Its an unbeatable location, walkable to everything, and with three T stops a few minutes away, including one that you dont even have to go outside to access. Avalon management takes great care of the building, keeping it clean, constantly touching up things and responding very quickly to any reports of maintenance issues. Theres onsite parking (extra cost) at market rates, a 24 hour gym, and a 24 hour supermarket across the street. Eataly is right downstairs, as is tons of shopping. The views from the upper floors are terrific too.

My experience with the AVA maintenance team has been great! They are fast-acting (even on weekends!), professional, and friendly. As a recent example, I am incredibly impressed with the service we received from Bahrudin in fixing something in our apartment. Despite being a weekend, he arrived very quickly after our call was placed. We werent really sure how to describe the problem over the phone, but within a few minutes of being in our apartment, he knew what was wrong, and how to help. He fixed the problem quickly, and even fixed something else while he was here! Overall, a great experience.

Really other than the location this building is just the worst. Money is the only thing they care about! Bad quality finishes, renovations all over thats been going on forever and will continue forever. Management are useless, whenever you have complaints the nicest response is sorry we cant do anything.I am paying a big amount monthly not only for the apartment but supposedly for the services! But no services are offered whatsoever other than the friendly concierge staff and package pickups.Elevators are another story, you wait an average of 25 mins for an elevator because only 2 work. They you know its a problem for everyone but again they dont care. Because as I said they only care about money! They are currently modernizing one elevator thats been taking more than 3 months, when theyre done theyre gonna start with next one so youll be dealing with only 2 elevators that work (one usually down, so really its one elevator) for an entire year for a 26 story building full of tenants.I would not recommend the building to anyone.

Everything about the move was very easy, Jessie helped me out with everything, from the start scheduling the tour and applying for the studio apt was super easy in less than a week I was moving in, and im very happy with the place, the building is great with perfect amenities and connected to prudential center which makes everything very easy !

I had to move out my older apartment within 10 days and one of my friends suggested AVA Backbay. I immediately called and came to check out the options they have. Jessie Perlow was one of the sales supervisor and she was the one who helped me out. Thanks to her now Im in my new apartment and Im LOVING it!! She basically listened to what I wanted in an apartment so patiently, why I needed to move out from my older one and put into consideration my budget. She showed me couple of apartment and then called me later that day when another one was recently open which I ended up taking. The apartment location is un beatable. They have a straight access through the garage to a supermarket. An entrance through the mall (LOVE.. LOVE). An access to indoor gym, community room. Moving in was as easy as moving can be. There is a huge deck for trucks that you can basically reserve and Jessie made sure that moving in was as smooth as possible

I was stuck in a difficult situation. I had furniture delivered and the shipping instruction said, deliver to the threshold, or in this situation, to the loading dock. The furniture weighed 186lbs, so moving it myself was not possible. I contacted AVA Maintenance and asked for assistance. Even though it was against policy, James the Supervisor, brought Mehan & Tim to help. They were thoughtful and deligent about moving and placing the furniture in the apartment. Once again I have found the Maintenance Dept at AVA Backbay going over and above expectations. I highly recommend AVA Backbay.

I am extremely pleased with AVAs wonderful staff and the great care that they have shown me, a new resident. From move-in info, instructions on appliances and the freight elevator. . .to the friendly smiles and prompt responses, Justin, Lynn, and Ryan just couldnt have been more enthusiastic and helpful. AVAs a nifty place to live, and it was great to receive such a warm welcome to my new home.--- December 2017. . . Ive now been here another year since I wrote the paragraph above, and I love living at AVA more than ever. For example, its a piece to cake to get anywhere in Boston thanks to the 2 subway lines, various bus routes, and airport express leaving from here, not to mention the constant Uber/Lyft service. AVAs maintenance and concierge service continues outstanding: no sooner said than done. . . and with a smile seems to be AVAs motto, and I always appreciate the prompt, friendly service. -- November 2018

Overpriced, very unreliable mail service (e.g., packages are often given to the wrong residents, lost mail due to incorrectly being returned to sender while I was travelling), poor customer service, old appliances and no updates to apartments of long-term residents.
