While traveling from out of town I noticed my tires had a slow leak. The Toyota dealership up the street told me I had a nail in a sidewall of my front right tire and added that I needed 4 new tires since my car is 4 wheel drive. My car is not 4 wheel drive. They also said I needed a cabin filter which was very recently replaced. My husband was not with me but got a good feeling Toyota was trying to take advantage of me and he told me to take the car elsewhere. I dropped my car off here and didn’t mention any of the above. I only said please check my tires for a slow leak. The receptionist is lovely. The customers were mostly locals and also lovely. The mechanic came back and said there was nothing wrong with any of my tires after checking them extensively and that the altitude/temperature may have caused the pressure to decrease. The mechanic called my husband to give him peace of mind. They didn’t charge me a penny. I would highly recommend this honest establishment and not the crooks down the road.

Got my oil changed in February and it took forever but the lady at the front was super nice… well I go to change my oil today myself and they completely over tightened everything and ruined the washer on the bolt to the oil pan and noticed it was leaking a little bit. Now I have to go to an auto parts store and buy one and make a 30 min job an hour one… person changing the oil needs to learn how to do it right!!

Took my car here for overheating issues. It didn’t matter though because none of the mechanics could crank my car! It’s an older car and so you have to turn the wheel slightly to the left to turn the key over and start my car. They couldn’t do it even after I explained how too and so I came back and cranked my car and left.The front desk lady was also really rude. She wrote my number down incorrectly and gave me an attitude about not being able to reach me.

What an incredibly kind and professional shop! We were out of town on vacation when we popped a tire on a rocky, dirt road. We called several places trying to locate a tire for our car. Custom Muffler had the tire and replaced it in 15 minutes! We were quickly back to enjoying our vacation. Pricing was also very reasonable and the lady working in the front of the shop at reception was very sweet! Wish we lived here, we would give them all our business!

Custom Muffler is a reason I think of Boone is a great place to live. I took a buddys old 97 Honda CRV in to hunt down an (intermittent) electrical problem, kept dying in traffic. For years my buddy only fixed it if it was broke, and I didnt mention how bad the steering was, I knew my buddy wouldnt pay for it. They traced and fixed the electrical (distributor) AND SOMEBODY tightened the front end of that honda, the sway bar, tie rod, steer arm, ball joints, something... it felt like it had ten years before (it was already a 12 yo car when he bought it), we were both shocked when we drove it, we could feel it, it was much safer. But, wasnt billed for it, wasnt on the bill, no one even said a word about it, but, could definitely feel it, we were both grateful, their mechanics take their work seriously....

Gave me a great deal on tires and installation fee, they quoted me almost $200 less than another shop in town (for 4 tires and an alignment). They were very patient with me as I asked all sorts of questions since I was changing tire sizes (because my car has specialized tires). I would definitely go back again and really appreciate the mechanics there.

If I could give this place a quarter of a star I would. This place is just as bad at scamming as Mr. Tire. Their welder did shoddy work on my muffler that was welded back in. The weld broke while going down the road and exhaust pipe drug against the ground. I called and asked if they stood behind their work and if there would be any charge, the secretary replied and said it would be taken care of. I went to pick up the truck and a charge for 36 dollars (labor) was charged, after they said it was taken care of. These people are doing anything to make a dollar during this pandemic, scammers!!!! Dont give this local business a single bit of your auto care needs, they dont stand by their work because its so poor.

Was told on the phone I could be seen that day and have my car fixed. The lady at the front counter told me that wasnt possible and gave me an awful attitude. Not worth your time.

So helpful and great price for an oil change

They did a good job on a quick oil change but then told me I needed new tires to pass my inspection even though I got new tires less than two years ago and haven’t even put 20,000 miles on them. I took it somewhere else to finish the inspection and it passed.

Do not come here for an inspection (or probably anything else).While I was in my home town (a short drive away), I had my car inspected at my usual place and it failed because my tint was too dark. My usual place will also let me know if things are coming up on needing replaced (but they do not sell services, so they have no ulterior motives to do this). I was told by the usual place that everything was fine except the tint.Thats where Custom Muffler Tire & Quick Lube comes in. I attend college here in Boone, so I went to this place to get my car reinspected after removing the tint. They come back and say my tire treads failed, but not to worry because they will happily replace all 4 for me! What a deal.I took the car to my local dealership (which also does inspections), and wouldnt you know, all my tires pass inspection. Granted the treads were running low (I ended up replacing them at the dealership), but all four tires passed above the inspection limit of 2/32.Point being, dont come here for an inspection, and if you already have, get any work done elsewhere.

After watching 4 people stand around and do nothing and with 2 bays opened, I was told I would have to wait over 2 hours for help. I turned in frustration to walk away and as I backed out a gentleman approached my car and said he would be able to help me in a few minutes. Not sure why the others were standing outside, with open bays and refusing Service. However, I appreciated being helped by the willing employee. Needless to say, next time I will go to a Business that wants My Business. I am a local and word travels fast here.CE Hendricks

Awesome job and quick turn around. I had my rear breaks fixed up and they replaced the break pads and caliper in the same day and for a very fair price. The front desk was polite and the mechanic even offered to talk with my dad on the phone so that they could talk about everything that was wrong with my breaks. Got the recommendation from my roommate to go here and will tell everyone I know that if they need anything done on their car to go here!

Terrible experience, wasted $35 for them to do absolutely nothing. I will NEVER go back and I highly suggest no one else go there unless you want to leave angry and with a lighter wallet. customer service was awful and workers seemed incompetent. there are so many better places in Boone, dont waste your time and money at this one. BE CAREFULL!!!!Inspected my truck and changed the oil in my truck. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly.Edit: Dont go any further than letting them inspect or change your oil. I had them do some engine work to my truck. I set up an appointment and it still took them 3 weeks for a 4 hour job. And they didnt put it back together. After I picked up my truck I noticed they didnt attach the fender correctly because it was hanging off. I called them the same day, and was told to come back the next day. I went back the next day and was told to come back monday when they have time. I agreed and went back on Monday, he told me the exact same thing come back on Wednesday when I have time. So, I did, then he said come back monday morning. So eventually I had to pay another shop to finish the work I paid them $2000 to do.

After a quote of 35$ and about 35/40 minutes. 2 hours later and 67$ later for nothing more then an oil change. They kept just saying I dont know what is taking so long. I was the only one in the office, and it was outrageous. The office staff was nice and polite, but still, double the quoted amount of time and cost? NOT going back.

DO NOT COME HERE FOR AC!!! I brought my car in 2 weeks ago because my AC stopped working, so I got a new compressor and about $600 later it should have been fixed. I had to bring it in 4 days later because they punched a hole in the hose and my freeyon leaked out. They have ordered the wrong part twice now... Im not sure what kind of idiot does that but 2 weeks later my car is still not fixed.

Awful experience! DO NOT REPAIR HERE Replaced the starter on my 2001 4runner for a total of $250. Although the price was fair, the mechanic performing the work forgot to reinstall the transmission dipstick tube. I photographed the car before calling the shop to fix it. The next day I received a phone call saying there was nothing wrong with my truck. When I arrived at the shop, the mechanic proceeded to threaten to beat my ass for calling him out on his lie.One month later and my car wont start so I check the starter, turns out they never tightened the lower starter bolt and the upper starter bolt was MISSING ENTIRELY. Once again, do not get your vehicle repaired here.

On vacation and didnt have time to change the oil in my truck before the trip. I brought them the oil (0w40 synthetic) and filter, and was in and out in less than 30 minutes for $20.

Mistakenly got my clutch replaced here and 9k miles(Clutches usually last 80k) later I am replacing my clutch due to installation error (clutch and pressure plate were too tight, causing a slight constant rubbing between the two, and ruining the clutch). After another $1600 for a clutch replacement, you could say Im pretty pissed off!
