I started my policy with State Farm through a friend of mine. I left Progressive because I thought I had better rates for roughly $7 cheaper a month. Later I found out, I was in for a lot more expenses. Unnecessary ones at that. I had a few small accidents and my claims were over paid. I parallel parked and backed into somebody that was behind me and did minimal damage but apparently the bill was $2,000 roughly.I thought maybe I was wrong and maybe that was the correct way to make things right. There was another situation where I barely clipped a mans mirror that was parked in a residential area. I stopped and told him what happened and analyzed the situation. The mirror was knocked off slightly and yet the insurance company charge me for a whole new quarter panel along with the mirror.They will not fight for you. Theyll pay outrageous claims and jack up your rates unreasonably. I told Joe Brown I was looking elsewhere for insurance earlier and he told me no one out there would give me a cheaper rate than State Farm. I was paying $247 monthly for State Farm at the end. I now pay $167 for the same benefits. Steer clear of these guys.

Ive been with this agency for over a year and my experience was mostly good. I had a few hiccups along the way, but nothing they werent willing to fix. The biggest issue was lack of information. For example, I would get surprised with a bill higher than normal, but not so much higher that it became an issue. They were always willing to explain why the bill was higher and I was accepting of it because this was my first time having auto and renters insurance and I just chalked it down to, Oh, well maybe this is common sense and I should know about these fees. Up until now, I would have given them maybe 3 or 4 stars.Recently, however, Ive had a terrible experience with my latest bill and Im giving this angency a generous 2 stars. I recently got married and was calling to simply change my last name. I called Joe Brown State Farm Agency and spoke with Ann and she asked if wanted to add my husband to my policy. I told her no thank you because my husband doesnt even know how to drive my car because I own a stick shift. She asked again if I would like to add him in case he learns how to drive my car, and told me it wouldnt cost extra. I said, Sure, if its not going to cost extra, why not. Well, my bill comes in the following month and it jumped from $120 to $203. I was completely shocked and not in the financial position to pay that much extra. After calling the customer care line, they told me the breakdown of why my bill costs so much. I lost several discounts and extra fees were added now that my husband is added. They told me they were physically unable to make changes on my bill and I will have to contact Joe Brown to have them put in a request to exclude my husband. Well, I called Joe Brown and they kept passing me off to the same lady who pushed to get my husband added. She put in the request and the request got denied. She said there was nothing so could do. I told her that I would have to cancel my insurance with State Farm and look somewhere else sine she couldnt get it fixed, and she just said sorry. She didnt even try to save me as a loyal customer who pays every month and pays on time. Im mostly upset because she lied to me, couldnt own up to her mistake, and couldnt get it fixed.Before I cancel with State Farm altogether, Im trying a different agenct with much better reviews to sew if they can save me as a customer. Im not asking for much. I just want my bill to go back to what it was before all this mess.
