I should have written this review well before now...I ordered an engagement ring from Raven Fine Jewelers last August, and was on a tight schedule for the specific date that I wanted to propose to my wife (she said yes!!). I could have bought a ring locally (in Florida), but Michaels ring design was everything that my wife wanted. Michael came through on the tight timeline that I gave him! He communicated well throughout the entire process, and was always so pleasant to talk to. My wife LOVES her engagement ring, and always gets compliments. My boyfriend and I have been looking for a jeweler that can design my dream ring with a fair price but still not compromise quality. I was still a little hesitate because I was not sure if the rings looked as good in person as it did on Instagram. After visiting his website, I scheduled an appointment for my boyfriend and I to see the rings in person. I assumed since he was a celebrity designer he would take a while to respond back but I was WRONG, he immediately emailed me back and gave me availability options which I appreciated so much (busy with my 2-year-old). After briefly telling him about my design ideas, our appointment was scheduled.Once we got to his office, I was impressed how nice it was (in the heart of Beverly Hills). Michael immediately greeted us and introduced himself. He asked how my boyfriend and I meet and how long we been together. He is very personable, so he made us feel welcomed and valued. After telling him my design ideas, he reassured me that he can make my ring exactly the way I want it which put a big smile on my face (yayy).Prior to placing the order, he explained that we would be a part of the process and that he would send us pictures for us to review and approve. Since I did not know much about diamonds, Michael took the time to explain and answer all our questions. He stated that the process would take 6-8 weeks since we were custom designing my ring (yayyy).Throughout the next couple weeks, Michael kept his word and sent me pictures for us to review and approve. I love each picture and just got really excited to see the finished product. Once the ring was done (7 weeks to be exact) he overnighted the ring to us. I cannot even express how beautiful my ring is, Michael designed it exactly the way I envisioned it. The great thing about Michael is that he provided a lifetime warranty on cleaning, so I look forward to working with him again. Thank you sooo much Michael!!! You definitely made me a happy fiancé.

Well Well now where do I begin? A wedding ring has the power to be the one little thing that makes you feel unique and special. I didn’t want a ring out of jewelry store that everybody have. I wanted a ring for my 20 year wedding anniversary to be ONE OF ONE and MICHAEL RAVEN DID EXACTLY THAT FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND. My ring is as captivating as the moon and even more radiant as the moonlight. I wore my ring to my friends birthday dinner a few days ago and OMG all eyes was on me all night long. My friend girlfriends couldn’t help but to stare because I don’t think anyone including myself have ever seen a ring so freaking darn beautiful and exquisite. Michael really outdid himself with this big rock. I mean I can’t even turn it around to hide if I wanted it to that’s how huge it is and I must say I can’t stop cheesing. Extremely poor communication and false promises.After the initial in-office consultation for a custom engagement ring, which was seemed great, things went downhill from there. We were told that a 4-6 week turn-around was to be expected and we trusted Michaels word on this. After the initial payment to start the ring, over the next month I received no communication on what was going on.A month after payment I started to become panicked and began to wonder if the ring had even been started. I began reaching out but wasnt able to reach Michael. I left texts and voice mails on his phone asking for updates and to know where things were at so I could make plans. After a week of this, I decided to reach out directly to the office to get help contacting Michael. Eventually I had a few employees messaging me and I finally received an image of the stone; they told me Id simply have to approve some sketches for the band design which would be sent by end of day/next day and then Id have an updated timeline. However I didnt receive anything. I had to start pressuring the other employees who were in contact with me again for updates until finally I actually got a phone call from Michael. He apologised and explained how COVID had impacted their work output as a few of his hard to replace jewelers had quit. I asked him for a timeline and I was told 1-2 weeks for completion. I was again asked to approve some images (concept carvings) and that Id have them end of day. Again, I received nothing. It took a few days until I got the image and even then, I was a little suspicious whether or not it was even for my ring given the many promises for images to approve, as well as how difficult it was to produce them on request. I was told that the image of the carving was very concept and a lot chunkier than the actual band I would receive. Again, I wanted to trust this, and part of me did, but it felt suspicious given the context. I decided to trust Michael.After another 1-1.5 weeks had passed, I started calling and leaving voice mails again to get an update as I was getting, once again, increasingly stressed by the uncertainty of this situation. After a few days of messaging and calling and being ghosted once again, as well as noticing that Michaels voice mails were full, my girlfriend and I went online and started reading reviews. We saw reviews that matched my experience and this made me feel foolish to trust the words Id heard from Raven Jewelers. At this point I was done playing the game of being ghosted and experiencing the immense stress that was accompanying this experience.I sent an SMS telling Michael that I was done with this and that I expected a refund. This he responded to, and proceeded to tell me that, again, his jewelers having left due to COVID was slowing things down, that the stone was of a poor quality and couldnt be used, etc. He also mentioned the terms on his website that wouldnt guarantee that he could produce the ring in the time frame I wanted or expected. He stated that hed issue a refund on my payment. He also stated that whatever normal ring we purchased in replacement of his, could be replaced later, by the special ring that he would create later on, which he was so excited to create. There is so much wrong with all of this.First: he knew that my timelines were tight and the responsible thing would have been to inform me there are issues that would impact the estimated finish times that I had been given.Second: I shouldnt have to be spamming someone with calls, messages, and calling their employees to EVENTUALLY receive a response.Third: The terms on a website shouldnt be a safe, legal fall back when you have given your word to a paying customer--Im sorry but this is a scumbag move. You have to take ownership of what you tell paying customers. Thats the only move that involves integrity on the side of the business.TLDR: awful experience that I couldnt recommend to anyone. This has caused me an enormous amount of stress.

It has been about three weeks since the payments were made and we havent received pictures but I am sure it will be BEAUTIFUL. All the reviews state that his work speaks for itself. I know my boyfriend is getting nervous because of his proposal timeline but I am most concerned with the quality of the ring, I am sure it will be everything and more. I purchased a custom ring from raven and Ill tell you what, the ring was absolutely incredible. Not only that but when I got it. It was a tad too big. It was a platinum band which I understand is not that easy to work on. I needed it resized and I sent it back and Michael resized it for me. FOR FREE. I was contemplating giving it a 4 star review because at times communication was not that great but he did deliver exactly what I wanted. And it turned out better than I anticipated so I think it merits the 5 stars

I ordered a custom engagement ring and band set from Michael Raven. I sent him some pictures of what I wanted and he created a set more beautiful than I could have imagined. The band locks into the ring neatly, so no soldering is required. I would never have even thought of that. He is a real artist! I would highly recommend purchasing jewelry from him. TLDR: Michael promised the world but delivered a mediocre ring that appraised for much less than I paid him and, … get this,… he delivered it WEEKS AFTER MY ACTUAL PROPOSAL. WEEKS. No apology.Also, after you pay him, he ghosts, good luck getting ahold of him!I had one consultation with Michael. I needed a gorgeous engagement ring at a solid price. When I met with him he repeatedly promised me he’d make me the highest quality ring, and that it would appraise for much more than I paid. He promised that if there was ANYTHING she didn’t like about the ring, he’d make the changes without a problem and without charging labor. I told him my deadline and he laughed and said it was no problem at all. I was excited. I didn’t need to keep looking, I knew I had found my jeweler! How could anyone beat that pitch!As the weeks went by he responded less and less. I started to get nervous but he had been really convincing so I tried to rely on his expertise. I had told him the deadline for the ring was about a week before my trip to Hawaii where I had planned to propose. Days before the deadline I started calling and texting and leaving voicemails. I would receive sporadic replies every few days saying everything was ok. Then the deadline passed. More calls, more voicemails, no response. I was in a full panic. I even drove to his shop but he’s only there for appointments. GUYS, I drove to the airport EMPTY HANDED and had to propose without the ring I PAID FOR. My last text to him was November 21, “PLEASE call me back ASAP”. His next response to me was December 7th over TWO WEEKS LATER with a picture of the ring. I asked him when I could pick it up. No response. I texted him a few times with the same question. He finally replied on December 14th telling me I could pick it up at the shop. I was able to get the ring but he was not there.My Fiancé wanted some changes to the ring. In the months that followed, I contacted him countless times to set up an appointment. Occasionally he would reply and set up a date. Guess what? He did not show up to them.I had the ring appraised and can you believe it, he lied about that too! The ring appraised for significantly less than I paid for it.I have given Michael endless opportunities to redeem himself and his brand and he had no interest in them. I finally, politely asked for my money back in return for the ring and instead of trying to make things right, he told me to talk to his lawyer.Apparently there are other reviews that mirror the exact same problem. I wish I had listened to them.Don’t make the same mistake we made. We’re now moving to litigation. This has been a complete nightmare.

I urge you to, please, do not buy anything from this guy!!! My husband and I ordered a set that we decided to alter. Although it took a while (3+months when he promises a 5 week turn around on his website) we got the item. Unfortunately, he had taken so long that we were forced to buy another set of rings for our wedding & when we finally got his items, we returned and carefully documented everything. During that entire time he would hardly answer our calls/texts, unless we called from different phone numbers. In the end, we never received our refund and had to file a case with our credit card company, who decided in our favor and we were able to get our money back...BUT I cant even begin to imagine if we had paid with our regular checking account.This guy is extremely dishonest and unreliable. Do not trust him with your money!!!! Read some of the other reviews he has out there.anlther couple had a similar experience as us too (check out the rip off report and the BBB for reference!).

I have had more compliments on this ring than any jewelery I have ever owned. When I took it in for a cleaning at another jewelery store they told me it would appraise for double my purchase price. If you’re looking to read a one sentence review, Michael is great, use him.I’m not an expert in jewelry by any measure of definition. Prior to purchasing an engagement ring from Michael, I’d bought fewer than five other items in my life. That said, I’m somewhat academic and I researched purchasing a ring for over 6 months. Also, I live in Los Angeles, which has a large number of jewelers, and I visited more than a dozen before settling on Michael. Lastly, I’m at an age where a lot of my friends are married, so I had plenty of personal references to other local competent jewelers. Michael though I found on my own.In my naïve but personal experience, there are three types of places you can buy an engagement ring from (excluding the internet, which just wasn’t for me). There’s the downtown jewelry district, which I found to be almost exclusively comprised of what I’d call commodities dealers, in the sense that they are all about selling you a precious stone, and then the ring design and construction is an afterthought, almost like gift wrapping. Secondly, there are trusted brand stores, your Tiffanys, Harry Winston, and to a lesser extent but in the same sense Zales, etc. Lastly, there are artists, which Michael certainly is. He’s not the only artist I met with, and all were different, but what I can say they all had in common is that they have an artistic pride in their work where the stone is secondary to the construction and design of the ring. I imagine all three options will appeal to different people, though for me I was looking to have something expertly designed that I could appreciate as a piece of art, and I also was not terribly focused on making sure a certain high number was spent on a specific quality diamond or other stone. I also had a clear idea of what I was looking for, and having a beautiful handmade ring to fit that design was more important to me (and in turn to my now wife) than making sure there was some certain guaranteed value to the specific center stone. All that said, Michael coincidently worked with wonderful materials, but this originated from him, it wasn’t my original focus.Michael’s work was masterful, and by far exceeded my expectations. He also was very fast in comparison to other options I was sourcing, and ultimately had an extremely competitive price. At the end of the day, I left with a feeling that he did me a favor, and I still believe this. He even went so far to drive across town to deliver it to me the day before my wedding because I had a shift in my work day and was unable to come to him as planned. I’m grateful for his work, and would not have wanted to have it done by anyone else. If you’re looking for someone to do hand-crafted work, who’s extremely talented, and who has great pride in the end product he’s delivering—I could not recommend Michael more.
