Dr. Wiczer did a wonderful job on my crowns! They turned out beautifully, and she was incredibly gentle throughout the procedure (including the Novocaine shots). Shes very knowledgeable/experienced, and the whole team is professional and respectful. Im very happy with the work she did!

Let me start by saying I have only written one review in my entire life. But I feel so compelled to speak up so that no other people go through what I recently went through. I Saw my previous highly-rated dentist (who has a hundred 5/5 reviews) in DC 5 months ago. No cavities. I go to this dentist in March (less than 5 months later) only to have her tell me I have 7 cavities. I go back to my highly-rated (now out of network) dentist for a second opinion two weeks later. ONE cavity! Also, come to find out she billed my insurance completely wrong and they’re trying to charge me $500 for my in-network cleaning and basic routine exam plus x rays. Do NOT go here no matter what you do. Never have I ever had such a bad experience. She also refused to speak to me directly during the exam. She only spoke to the hygienist about my teeth and acted incredibly dramatic like I needed hours and hours of work done and in just a few years my teeth would be ruined. I’ve had no dental issues in my entire life. Nothing but a few cavities. Never have I felt such like a lab rat getting poked and prodded just so she can make a buck when it was completely unnecessary. Disgusting. She should have her license revoked!

Initially, I was impressed by the thorough explanations and cooperation from the staff on helping me verify my insurance coverage concerns. This lulled me into a false sense of security, and I while stopped them from doing one thing that wasnt covered by insurance, even though the hygienist was sure that is must be, but we can check they did some X-Rays that werent covered (now, as I read through the Yelp Reviews that were filtered..this is not a one off issue it seems...)Further, I went for a second opinion on some of the pricier fillings and they found one she missed and discovered that a couple of things she had mentioned were not areas of concern. She also stressed the need for an expensive night guard, using a sort of scare speech about my teeth all falling out and making it seem like a “sometime soon” problem. Apparently, the night guard is a go to diagnosis, from reading some other reviews on Yelp. When I received the bill for the x-rays, incorrectly addressed, and after I tried speaking to my insurance, I called the office to see if there was anything they could do to help out, since I had tried to be pretty clear that my funds were limited and that I was bound to the terms of the insurance (which has a pretty standard allowance for x-rays).I was told that someone would call me back when she was not with a patient. After a week I had not heard back. I tried to call back during business hours, to just pay it off so I dont end up owing more, and no one was there to answer the phone.Overall, I do not recommend, and this has been a very discouraging experience with a dentist. While I understand that some of the issue was with my insurance, it is concerning that the x-rays I paid extra for still had to be re-done when I got a second opinion, and that the diagnosis was quite different. Further I have been reminded the importance of checking out all the reviews, and not going with the most convenient covered dentist...

DO NOT GO TO HER! She is money hungry and will misdiagnose you to make a quick buck. She will also charge you for services that she should not because she is in network with your insurance. She will make up and excuse as to why you should be financially responsible. I was charged for a service done that was inclusive with another service she performed and she still told me that I have to pay even though my insurance said I am not responsible because have a contract. She is a fraud and does things that are illegal!

Roanne Wiczer is horrible. 1) She discussed her concerns about me to her technical, instead of me! She referred to me in the third person, as if I wasnt in the room--multiple times! I was baffled. The exchange was most fantastic combination of awkwardness and rudeness Ive ever experienced. 2) She didnt show up for my follow-up appointment! Her technician apparently called me (less than 24 hours prior to the appointment) to inform me. Im never coming back to this place, and for the sake of your oral hygiene, I implore you to stay away.

After scheduling an appointment for a teeth cleaning as a new patient at the general dentistry office of Roanne J. Wiczer, I arrived at the office 15 minutes early to fill out the New Patient paperwork. My appointment was for 1:15 PM and I had to wait until 2:00 PM to be called back to be seen. The young lady who was doing my cleaning was very apologetic about the wait and asked if I wanted to have any x-rays done. I explained that I did not want any x-rays because 1) I didn’t have time and 2) I wasn’t sure what my insurance covered. I explained that all I wanted was the teeth cleaning. She complied and we began. After the cleaning, she explained that another doctor would need to examine my teeth. I asked if this was a part of the cleaning because, again, I didn’t want to pay for any additional services and was not sure what my insurance would cover. She assured me that this was part of the cleaning and that no extra charges would be incurred on my bill. So I proceeded to have the exam. When I went to pay my bill, the VERY RUDE office manager, informed me that the exam was an additional fee. When I explained to her that I had been persistent in verifying with the doctor who had done my cleaning that the exam was a part of the standard teeth cleaning and would render NO ADDITIONAL COSTS, she responded that I should not have asked the doctor but that I should have asked her and that it was required for all new patients. This stipulation was not outlined on ANY of the new patient paperwork that I was asked to fill out. The office manager knew I was a new patient and did not offer up this information. When I refused to pay, she printed me a bill with a balance due to cover the cost of the examination. I explained to her repeatedly that it was incorrectly explained to me that this exam was part of the teeth cleaning and that she, as the office manager, should have disclosed that information to me upon my arrival. I then refused to pay, citing inefficient and incorrect information from their staff. Unfortunately, there is still a the balance due but I have no intention of remitting payment to this vendor who has horrible customer service and no consideration for my time. I would not bother with a formal complaint if I didn’t know that this vendor has the right to place this negative account on my credit, thereby, damaging my name. As I am an hourly employee and scheduled the appointment for my lunch break, instead of losing one hour, which I planned for, I lost 2 ½. If anything, I should be reimbursed.

Dr. Wiczer is the most professional, thorough and caring dentist I have ever encountered. I would always associate dentistry with pain, until I met Dr. Wiczer. Please dont get me wrong, yes, there are occurrences where procedures can be uncomfortable. Her attention to your needs and concerns are impeccable. She has a way of making you feel comfortable with the work she does that end in GREAT results. I am a huge fan of Dr. Wiczer.I did not have an attractive smile because of a crooked front tooth. Dr. Wiczer fixed that for me.It is an AMAZING feeling to be able to smile again without reluctance.

Great office. They will not recommend or up-charge you for something unless you really need it. It is a busy office, so you may have to wait, but it is worth it.I do not like going to the dentist. It hurts and it is uncomfortable. But Dr. Wiczer and Shiva make every appointment as smooth as possible. They really care about their patients. I have never been to a better dentist in my life. I have been going to Dr. Wiczer since I moved to Bethesda and will not be changing dentists unless I move far away from the area.

This dentist is very unprofessional and only wants money. We received the service in 2015 and did not know that she NEVER CLEANED our teeth until we met our current dentist. She NEVER CLEANED our teeth but she CHARGED our insurance for that. She also charged my husbands crown BEFORE she put it on. She is not responsible at all and tried to take advantage of her clients. I am not sure how she passed her ethical test of being a dentist but she really has some issues of how to charge people. Besides, the reception desk girl is very rude.

The doctor is acting as a con artist. She forced me to buy an oral mouthwash from her without a prescription for $27 and gave me no receipt. I checked the price in the pharmacy and found out that it only costs $7. When I called her and asked for the prescription she refused to give it to me and didnt want to return the money. If I could I would give her 0 stars. Stay away from her.

Not sure why so many negative reviews for Dr. Wiczer but my experience has been a wonderful one for myself and my entire family, Great Family Dentist! Shes not out to make extra money off of her patients and I can always count on her honesty. Dr. Wiczer even touched my heart when she helped me with my mother. My mother is on Medicare and didnt have any dental insurance and when I explained this to Dr. Wiczer, she completely worked with my mom and the family to get the extreme amount of work that my mother needed to get done (and I mean extreme). I cant thank Dr. Wiczer enough for the big heart God gave her!

I advice anyone to stay away from this dental office. If you do, make sure you take Patient Charge Schedule with you to make sure you are paying the correct amount.I caught several mistakes in terms of what procedure code goes with what.I had to take my daughter for a root canal work and it was like doing accounting after every visit. I am not even mentioning the time spent with the Insurance companies verifying the co-payment. And if you are not informed about dental work and procedures, you are at their mercy. Oh...the temporary crown fell off after a few days too.Regarding front desk, one is rude and another one is sleek but sweet talking (that is the one who reaches out for your credit before showing you on paper what has been done).

Dr. Wiczer is a great technical dentist, and if I could leave a review just for Shiva (the hygienist) it would be 4.5 stars for Shiva.Unfortunately, I always felt pressured to pay for things I wasnt convinced I needed. Maybe I grind my teeth (I suspect I did in college during lots of stressful times), but I dont think I do anymore, and no dentist prior to Dr. Wiczer ever told me that I did. I bought an expensive night guard through her (thankfully insurance covered most of it) that I dont think I need - there are only minor markings on it after a few years, and I havent noticed any deterioration in my teeth when not wearing it. Dr. Wiczer was dismissive of the notion that the enamel erosion on my teeth might have been caused by diet and previously poor hygiene practices (I didnt see a dentist for about 10 years). That being said, Dr. Wiczer did good to great work with my crowns (3 of them). Since I never had a crown before I went here, and dont know what the typical experience is, I cant tell if the experience I have with them (some gaps, some tightness for flossing, etc.) is as a result of her work or if I would have worse side effects from another dentist. Either way, I can live with it without any day-to-day issues. If money is no object to you or if you have no major issues with your teeth, then youll be fine here Dr. Wiczer. After a couple of years, I just felt like I was being constantly scolded/pressured/shamed about things out of my control, and when I started avoiding making even routine cleaning appointments I knew it was time to go somewhere else.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wiczar for over 20 years. She is patient, professional, and honest. As a senior citizen, I recognize the value of my healthy set of teeth. I see my family and friends wearing partials, dentures, and even spending up to 20K on implants. Your teeth are an investment. You may feel that an examination or x-rays with a cleaning are an unnecessary expense, but they are important to catch decay before you have the expense and pain of a root canal. Dr. Wiczar is looking out for your health; you dont seem to be doing that.

I am dentist and fellow colleague of Dr. Roanne Wiczer. I have had the opportunity to see a lot of her work which is why I chose her to do a posterior onlay I needed to have done. Thanks to her I have no pain and got excellent quality dental work. She is a gifted clinician and have seen nothing but the highest of integrity in her work and treatment of patients. As a fellow dentist I know how difficult it can be to find and train staff especially when insurances are constantly making changes. I had to leave a review because I know that too often it’s the difficult or negative people who are upset about one small thing who end up leaving a negative review while all the other very happy patients don’t say anything. I would definitely recommend Dr. Roanne Wiczer as a highly skilled and honest dentist.

If I could give her zero stars I would. This has to be thee worst dentist office in the area. Very unprofessional in every aspect by Wiczer. We were given pricing on the first visit for a list of dental work that needed to be done and we were told that included everything she had mentioned. So we made an appointment for the second visit, we show up and come to find out the price they gave us jumped up 6 times the original price. No mention of price change until we asked how much it would cost again(I was wondering whether to put it on my credit card or debit card). She was ready to go ahead with procedure with out going over the price change until the subject was asked. It blows my mind how she thought this was normal business practice.

Stay away. This dentist is an upselling scam artist, and her billing department is as incompetent as they come.I was in town for a few days (I currently reside mostly overseas), and wanted to get one of my two yearly cleanings that my insurance provides for free. I was told over the phone that Dr. Wicszer accepted my insurance, so I scheduled the appointment. When I showed up, I explained that I had Cigna Global insurance, and provided an entire Dental Benefit Summary from Cigna with contact information for one of their claims agents who could handle any inquiries. No problem, I was told.I got in the chair. First, I was not given the option of not getting the Adult Fluoride treatment, $48 that is not covered by nearly any insurance now because most medical literature suggests its worthless. Like Eugene below, I was told during the cleaning that I immediately needed a nightguard for $250, and without asking me or checking my insurance coverage, a hygienist was getting a fitting ready. Luckily, I put the brakes on, since none of the three prior dentists Ive seen in the last two years has so much as mentioned this. Finally, the pressure to immediately re-schedule so that I could come back to get a look at this nightguard in only a month or two was heavy. It was just assumed that I was going to do it, and *despite the fact that I spend 90% of my time overseas*, they wanted to book me in anyways.Anyways, heres the kicker: two days before flying back out of the country, the bill arrives for $268, with the notation, NO DENTAL BENEFITS on a copy of my Cigna card attached to the bill. Now I get to spend today fighting with her office and scrambling to get this submitted properly to Cigna.People like this should not be allowed to run a medical office.

I have consistently had terrible experience at this dentist. Do not risk it! They are money-grubbing, curt, dismissive, and rude, and the office is dirty. (The people in the waiting room can actually see you getting procedures done!) It is clearly a dentist for people who have no other choice. I only go because it is close to work and takes my insurance, but I will never go again.Last time, they charged me a $50 missed appointment fee when I called the morning of my appointment to tell them I had come down with the flu. I told the receptionist it would be a health risk to ask patients to come in when they are very sick, but she didnt seem to care. I asked to speak to someone else, but apparently no one else was free. They said someone would call me back, but no one ever did. But of course I DID receive a bill for my missed appointment.Other times, I consistently have to wait for a very long time, including once in the actual procedure room for about 40 minutes just for the nurse to show up and do a cleaning.A colleague of mine had an even worse experience at this dentist. She was halfway through a procedure (literally, her gums were still numb and they were still working on her) and they informed her at that moment that a new procedure had to be done, and they wouldnt proceed to do anything unless she paid up front for this new procedure, which had not been discussed in advance.
