I came to do a full check up on my car. The team found out what went wrong and being very honest about their findings. I requested to repair other parts and they said they were still in good shape so only stick to their initial diagnostics. They didnt try to add things I dont need. Really appreciated that. Professional and honest! Thats what we need these days.

This is the second time Patti and her crew have rescued me from severe automotive distress. The first was last year, when some low-lifes sawed off my catalytic converter. I got a bad vibe from the first place I took my car, and decided to give Patti’s a try. They had it ship-shape in no time at all, were incredibly professional and friendly, and charged me less. Then, just a couple of weeks ago, right after starting a new job with a long commute, I had some major issues with the engine (it turned out to be a combination of compressor failure and a few other things, including a bad knock sensor). I initially made the mistake of going to the official service center (Honda of Berkeley), where they charged me $200 for a diagnostic and quoted me almost double what the car was worth for repairs. I was about to have a full meltdown, so I called Patti to see if things were really as dire as they seemed. She was able to take the car the next day, had it fixed within the week, and charged me a quarter of what the service center had quoted. She and her team really saved me. Not only will I be forever grateful, but will be returning to her shop for all future repairs. Thank you so much, Patti!!

They even explain WHY the part brokeI have a 2007 Mazda 5, which is a fairly rare vehicle (even the dealers dont fix it).This time, my wife smelled gas in the car. I checked under the car, the hood, the gas filler, and could not find a leak. Online, Pattis mentioned Mazdas and had good reviews, I called and Patti scheduled me in.She explained what it could be and what it might take, but just charged a minimum fee to look at it. She got back to me in the day that she had not found it but needed another day.The next day she got back to me that the fuel pump was leaking due to impact and I agreed to the estimate. No mechanic had ever explained WHY to me since I was the service manager for an auto center.When I picked up the car, the mechanic that did the work actually showed me what he did and how to prevent this again.Very impressive!

Ive come to Pattis for my auto maintenance for several years now and theyve always been great. Im particularly inspired to write this review today, since they fixed my car engine using very creative (and low cost) methods after it had been junked up by diesel fuel. I am super grateful for their ingenuity in figuring out a way to clean the engine without having to take it apart, and am thankful for the money they saved me during whats been a difficult financial time. Although they werent able to fix the problems my car has, Patti was very responsive, and explained everything clearly, and was even able to offer recommendations on who I could go to get the repairs done. I appreciate that she didnt try to swindle me by saying she could fix something she actually couldnt.

Patti is amazing. If you’ve given up on humans, go meet Patti. She’s restored my faith in humanity. She asked her incredible mechanics to fix my car on a Saturday afternoon when I dropped in, desperate, and she didn’t have to do that. But she did, and she was humble about it like this was no big deal. But it was. She didn’t expect me to beg, she just did it, because she thought it was the right thing to do. You just don’t meet ppl like that anymore. Deep bows to Patti and the mechanics.

Pattys auto care consistently lies about their estimate price - do not trust it. Dishonest and poor quality work. They put a head gasket on my car without machining it down and it has virtually ruined the car.To reply to the below - ownership was the same during my last visit and the head was not machined. I have documentation.

I started taking my cars to Patti’s years ago and it’s the best car repair I’ve ever encountered. Patti loves cars and knows pretty much everything about them. She’s also got a big heart and is an incredible advocate for her customers. I met her when my Honda suddenly dumped all its oil. I pulled off the road into her place and she not only diagnosed and repaired it immediately, she knew this was a recall event and called Honda and the whole thing was completely free to me. Ever since then the service has been equally over-the-top excellent. She hires great mechanics and she knows exactly what to do both in terms of cars and in terms of the business. It’s honestly wonderful taking my car to a woman. I feel 100% safe having Patti’s take care of my car and I’m so grateful to have found her garage!

Pattis Auto Care has been living up to its name since Ive been bringing my 1998 Toyota Tacoma there a few years ago. I have no hesitation in sending anyone I know to Pattis shop. She is lovely and professional and knows whats what with all makes and models. Her staff and crew are exemplary. Pattis got game where other shops lack certain skills and habits with their customers, namely, kind customer service, explaining what the hell might be going on with your vehicle and ultimately what was definitely going on.I had a brake job done at Pattis several months ago and over the past few days my brake light twinkled on periodically. While getting an oil change today, Pattis mechanic discovered a loose rod, so they tightened it and covered the cost under my warranty. That is great service. How many of you remember your warranties? Patti does.Go here for everything: minor repairs, tune-ups, tires, wheels, major repairs. Patti will give you the straight dope in financial terms measured against reality.While I was waiting for them to finish up my truck, I fell asleep in her comfortable waiting area. When my truck was ready, Patti gently woke me up. Who does that? Most would should my name or shake me awake; Patti woke me like my mom used to. Id nap there anytime if shed let me. ; )

I love this place. Ive been bringing my car here since 2015. Originally, I was saved by Jeffrey who noticed the new car I bought from the Toyota dealership was going to need some $1000s of dollars of repair. Luckily I was able to return that car and find a different one. So naturally, I refused to go anywhere else but here after that point. Patti owns it now and Ive recently had the pleasure of meeting her and being assisted in purchasing yet another car. The people that work here are beyond friendly and highly knowledgeable, theyre also honest and forthcoming and I believe their prices are fair.

Patti was professional, knowledgeable and was able to take my car immediately when all the other local shops were booked a week out.She replaced the battery.Yet the very next day, the check engine light went on, prompting another $350 in repairs. Repairs that were not found when the first computer diagnostic was run before the battery replacement.You have the fact pattern, you decide.Too coincidental for me, I wont be returning.

Woman owned business business I called patties when I was broke down in Berkeley had a tow truck tow my vehicle to patties where it was able to stay for multiple days until I could purchase the part that needed to be shipped, it took her mechanics a matter of minutes to install the part and have me driving back down the road very nice family oriented business in the heart of Berkeley extremely reasonable prices and she has a few very nice doggies that you can pet

I have been going to Pattis for over 5 years and this is my last. For the past three years, Ive complained about a skipping and misfiring in the engine, but both Patti and her husband dismissed my concerns because the dashboard alarm never appeared. I brought in my car last week because the diagnostic device the insurance company required said there was a problem with a cylinder. Now Patti believed me. I asked her to call me with a price before she fixed it- she claimed she tried to call me but she never did and went ahead without my knowledge. To make a long story short, it was repaired at a price higher than the dealership, despite Pattis assurances that she was giving me a discount. I also got quite an earful about her health with every painful detail. No matter that I rolled my eyes, snorted, and finally informed her I was a nurse, there was no stopping her.

Patti is back... I had no idea she was missing but now that I know she was, I’m really glad she is back. Prices were already very reasonable before she gave me a discount for getting the female treatment by mechanics in the neighborhood. I wish I met Patti 20 years ago before I blew up my Honda Accord and then got passed around from one shady mechanic to another (with a couple of exceptions). Patti, I think you’ve won yourself another super loyal customer. Thanks for the new clutch! It feels so buttery compared to the sticky one I had inherited with the purchase.

Ive been taking my car to this shop for two years - they are indeed very nice and I thought they were very knowledgeable.Last year, my check engine light came on, so I took it in and they replaced the EGR valve. A few months later, the light came on again. I took it in and they turned it off and told me to come back again if it turned on or if I noticed any stalling. The light came on again (it was coming on-and-off for a while), so I took it in with the intention of getting my issue resolved. I left my car with them all day to get a call saying they did not have the time to check it. So I brought it back one more time, this time also to get my break pads replaced. The issue with my check engine light was not resolved.I finally got tired of getting sent home without a solution to the initial problem and took my car to another shop. Immediately upon checking, the mechanic asked who had replaced my valve because it was not installed correctly (they did not connect it to anything and it could have burned out). Not only that, the new mechanic also informed me that the valve installed was one of the cheapest in the market (~$50) AND they charged me 6x that price to replace it. Needless to say, I was and still am very disappointed - I will not be taking my car to this shop again.

Firstly, Patti is back, and the whole neighborhood is extremely happy.If you want an owner who knows the game, doesnt try and upsell, and has a gang of mechanics that know how to throw a wrench then this is your shop.She also knows how to treat my 2018 Subaru WRX which eats oil so I swap every 2.5k miles. Any shop owner who demands Motul and knows Knock Knock Subaru jokes is a guarantee.

Mr Patti is awesome! My car failed the smog check due to the check light, so I brought it to a auto service to fix it. They say I need to replace the filler pipe and asked me for $520 ($170 for part + $350 for = labor). I suspected the labor fee is a little high, and called Pattis Auto Care for an estimate. He said replacing the filler pipe was quite easy, and it shouldnt cost more than $150 for labor fee. So I brought my car to Pattis Auto Care. After looking at the original filler pipe, he said that it seemed like there was nothing wrong with it and instead fixed the problem by tightening the gas cap. The check light went off!!! And the best part is he charge me NOTHING for doing so. I recommend Mr Pattis service to all of my friends who live nearby Berkeley.

I was just walking my dog and Mr Patti was smiling at Buddy and being so friendly. I was actually headed to the locksmith around the corner to see if hed help me fix my keyless remote for my Toyota rav4. Since Mr Patti greeted us so warmly, I decided to see if he may help me with the remote. He fooled around with it for a few minutes while a lady who seemed to work there, too, was petting Buddy and saying how beautiful his coat is. I was so surprised when I got home -- he fixed it! He did some kind of magic to it! Id already taken it to radio shack and they couldnt get it to work. It was just so kind of him to take time out of his day to help me -- and at no charge! Very sweet, caring people who are very dog friendly!

My car stopped working due to the timing belt breaking. I had the car towed to a Honda dealership and they charged me 300 $ in looking at it. They said before going any further that my engine was most likely damaged and I would need to put in another engine total cost around 5000$. I called Pattis Auto Service and Donny said bring it in the engine may be fine. I towed it to Parttis and Donny told me after looking at it that the engine was fine and that the water pump had frozen and broke the timing belt. He had it up and it now runs beautifully. The cost was 1000$. Donny does take his time depending on how busy they are but be patient the wait is worth it as you see from my experience. In all fairness to Honda when I talked to the manager and told him what happened he immediately refunded the 300$.
