Its been a couple of months since I had the glass on my front window replaced after it was maliciously broken. Caplan glass responded quickly and efficiently. I have not seen any leaks or signs of a bad repair job. I highly recommend

Caplan Brothers is one of the largest Glass companies around, which is good and bad. While they do stock a huge inventory, their prices can be high and their Service Department is less than impressive, bordering on disingenuous.As a Facilities Manager in the Baltimore area, I am responsible for multiple buildings and have stopped using their Door Services. After having multiple failures of a similar Glass Door Closer, I called in an ASSA factory Service Technician and we uncovered some installation methods that were flat out shoddy and were obviously done to save time. Unfortunately after 3+ repairs of the same item, at almost $2,300 per visit, I reached the end of my patience and had to find out the root cause for the failures.I still buy material from them and use their Glass Service, but only time will tell if they go down the path of not caring about 1 customer, because they are so big and have 2 more waiting for service.

5 years ago, ordered a glass topper to fit over our dining room from them. The guy who came to take the measurements set a paper over the large table and traced it. I always wished that I had said something at the time bc I felt he did a sloppy job. But I assumed he was the expert and I was timid to a fault. Indeed the glass we received hung over the edge of our dining room table and while not immediately noticeable, over the course of the last 5 years, it’s dinged and scraped off the finish of the back of several of our solid wood dining room chairs right at that single spot (as the chairs rotated around the table) where the chair touches the glass after you push it in. Ugh, save yourself the unsightly error—make sure they measure twice, cut once.If not for that sizing error, their service and price was reasonable.

Though Im a regular.. I went in to purchase glass for a custom door I was building.. Im a woodworker.. I brought in one of the rails to size up the glass needed.. I used the sample.. The advisor there said.. Thats a perfect fit.. I told him it was for a door.. He said I need tempered glass.. But failed to mention it was going to be larger than the sample..When I received the glass it didnt fit into the opening.. I couldnt make the opening bigger because it would have compromised the joinery.. When I took it back... The manager gave me push back on exchanging it.. When it was clearly their mistake.. In the end they cut me 1/4 inch on the spot.. My original was for 3/8..the manager refused to refund the difference.. Even though it was their mistake..

After a break in at my house I called Call in on the recommendations of my insurance company. They came out quickly, cleaned up the shattered glass,, and there was a lot. Johnney put in plywood and even caulked and sealed the door. He he was very nice professional and caring. Today Rickey came to install the glass. Once again.... Very nice, caring and a great worker. Cleaned up everything and it looks great. I would call them back anytime I need work done

After one of my boys broke a window, Caplan Glass came out right away and was able to order a replacement glass and install. Very Professional and courteous. Hope to never have any more broken windows but if we do well know who to call!

Caplan Glass was the most kind business service I have ever used. We had an emergency on Friday afternoon and they were able to send two men immediately to secure a doorway for us. They came back Monday morning first thing to complete the job. Mr. Steinharter organized everything effortlessly and his installer Nick couldnt have been more professional or exacting in his work. Called to get some one to come and give me an estimate, sales rep on the phone was kinda short with me and I thought they will forget me, she told me someone will call me, but no one did, the next day the estimator came to my shop waited for me to come there and told me they can fix the window in 1 hour, and that’s what happened, I was really surprise by the speed the guys fixed it. And $500 cheaper then the competitors

Caplan Bros. does not know the meeting of customer service. I had a glass table top replacement spontaneously break after 4 weeks. I contacted Caplan to for a replacement. I was aske to bring it in and was offered a 10% discount. Person making decision refused to talk to me. Besides table edges were poorly cut.This is a surly group of people who are full of excuses. There are better alternatives out there.

The estimate was on point & reasonable, but unfortunately the contract was 200 more than quoted, I received a cool response when I complained, & was told abruptly my contract would be deleted, very unprofessional & a bit shady, most unpleasant & disappointing,would never recommend! Captain J.

We requested quotes from several local glass companies for our new tiled shower stall. Although this company sent a rep fairly quickly, I never received a quote. I called about a week and a half later, only to be put on hold and told that they couldnt find my name in the system. Then, they came back on the line and told me that someone would call me back on Monday. I was shocked that they had so much trouble with just a simple quote, I wasnt about to hire them for an actual installation. So, I told them not to bother!

The work was finally completed but the service is not up to par. I do not live in Baltimore. Long story short, they measured 3 out of 4 windows incorrectly. i had to travel to Baltimore twice because they had to come back. They are special order windows so instead of 10 days it was about a month. I asked the owners for a small discount for my troubles for traveling back and forth for the second installation and he rudely replied, you got your windows, so what is the problem?. The problem is that now I have to find someone reputable to replace the windows in my other two Baltimore homes.

I have used Caplan Bros. several times. The folks who come to do the job gets the job done well, mainly cleaning up. They are also nice.

Awful experience. It took 5 weeks for my glass to come in after being told it would only take 7-10 days. I had to continuously call the company for updates. After my glass finally came in, I was offered one time slot which was inconvenient for my schedule and was told if I couldnt do it then, I have to wait another week and a half. They were very unaccomodating and very unprofessional !

Hi. i just checked out of the hyatt hotel in baltimore. upon my check out, i exited the hoteldoors with several bags in hand. i was verbally assaulted by your employees. they were moving a piece of glass, which i understand. its their job; however, when i walked out of the front door, the workers began screaming at me. um if you dont want people walking in your area of work, there should be a sign indicting what they are doing and to steer clear. i was walking outside of the MAIN ENTRANCE TO THE HOTEL and the man began screaming at me. one i had no idea they were speaking to me. i had no idea what was going on. it was rude and degrading and i will be spreading the word about your horrible company. next time you guys are working in a populated area, you should have a sign to not walk where they are working. i mean come on. ive never felt so degraded in my life. i thought they were going to hurt me and i will be telling everyone online of this horrible experience.

I was going with Absolute Glass Works in Baltimore for quite sometime, I always felt like I was a bother to the very unhappy sounding woman that answers the phone. So I went with Caplan, they came out in 1 hour, replaced the windows and did with a wonderful attitude!

I had a 5×5 piece of glass made for my dining room table about 13 years ago and it has held up through my kids, my kids friends, and lots of homework, crafts and eating so I have got to say they make glass that last for years.

My husband and I live in an apartment building that uses Caplan Glass for their windows and sliding glass doors. Yesterday, when we closed the door after having gone outside the glass pane completely shattered. We can only assume that this is due to the recent weather fluctuations since drastic temperature changes are bad for the integrity of tempered glass. The rep came out today after multiple phone calls from our building manager and told us that since they didnt have any glass on hand that would fit our door theyd need to order some. The company that they order from closes between Christmas and New Years so they will not replace our door until the first week of January. There are still two days until Christmas, but apparently this isnt urgent enough for a sheet of glass to be rushed over. We will now have to have our balcony door boarded up with plywood for nearly two weeks over the holidays. We are not exactly happy about this. If you have a choice in the matter, unlike us, I would recommend you go with someone else.

Negative customers service. So I went into Caplan to try and get some information for a customer and the guy behind the counter wanted nothing to do with me. He just kept saying have the customer deal directly with them, didnt want to try and understand the situation or anything. Guess Ill find somewhere else to take my business.
