The store was busy on a Saturday, but the waiting was pleasant and not too long. They offered us the same amount that we had been trying to sell for many months. They gave us a week to decide to sell or not. We went back about 3 days later to take their offer and it was a smoothly quick transaction. The whole selling my car to Carmax process was easy. My only complaint is that everyone is there by appointment only and it still took 2.5 hours to complete the process. I had title in hand, so it absolutely should not have taken that long.But, everyone was professional and friendly and they all worked as efficiently as possible to get me in and out of there with a check in my hand.

Car purchase to include home delivery was terrible, mid west customer service requested financial information twice and still could not get it together. Finally agreed to go to Bakersfield, Kern County, CA where COVID is widespread, and complete transaction with face masks on outside in 100 weather, took a whole 4 hours. The car is fine. I will not be bringing it to Kern County for any servicing, rather, will drive to Santa Clarita where COVID safety is 100% solid.

Great place to shop for a car. My experience was pleasurable because of the very attentive staff. No pressure buying experience and no price haggling. I felt as though they were going out of their way to be extra nice and accommodating to my needs. They were patient and helpful every step of the way. In the end I found the car I wanted and it couldn’t have been any easier.

I had a very long experience with car max, but I received the vehicle I wanted. The love it or return it feature is 100% true. I had 0 issue returning a car that I loved but it just did not fit what I needed. I also had 1 shipped in from LA to Bakersfield without issue. The selection is amazing, but you better act fast and be ready to buy. I literally test drive a Land Rover parked it and then I wanted to go back to it. 15min went buy and it was sold. Excellent customer service. My salesman was awesome overall a great experience. I spent 10hrs over 2 days selling 2 and buying 2. Even with that I will do it again.

Sold my car to Car Max. Everything went smoothly because I had everything that was listed for me to bring. I just thought it took too long, 3 hours 15 minutes, especially since I had an online offer. We couldnt leave! That was frustrating since we drove 2 hours to get there. Other than the wait, the experience was excellent.

Overall, it was the vehicle I wanted (including options and color) and a fair purchase. However, the buying experience was a too programmatic! There was no flexibility for my buying needs. For example, I had a vehicle transferred from Texas to California and could not get the staff to take pictures of specific areas prior to shipping. But I was allowed to ask 5 questions. I guess that is what some customers want.When finally viewed the 5 questions feedback was not 100% accurate. For example, it was not disclosed that some of the interior carbon fiber trim was missing, the cue screen was cracked, that one of the rear door wing windows was missing tint and the wing window trim was damaged. The vehicle appeared to have been broken into at some point as I also found broken glass inside. I did not find out the window was missing tint prior to purchase as the window shade was pulled hiding the missing window film. None of it is a big deal and is easily addressed. Great would have been to disclose these things or to have addressed them prior to sale.I had great response from CarMax prior to the sale of the vehicle but cant get get through to service to get a couple of things that needed to be taken care of. This includes no response from voice mail or e-mail.On the good side, I was able to transfer the vehicle with no obligation to purchase and there is a 30 day return guarantee! This increased my comfort without having to buy site unseen or travelling to various location.

I purchased a 2013 vehicle with 86,000 miles in April 2021. I received a 30-day return policy (1,500 miles), a 90-day 100 percent parts and labor Dealer Warranty (4,000 miles), purchased the 48-month extended MaxCare Warranty (150,000 miles) and got a 5.25 percent interest rate as the cosigner.No other car dealership offers a 30-day return policy. You have to sign the No Cooling Off Period clause at other car dealerships to confirm you are aware you cannot return the vehicle. Furthermore, what other car dealership offers a 48-month extended warranty on a used vehicle dating back to 2013?At no cost to me, I/we used 90-Day Warranty and got a new backup camera installed, a new touch screen radio and speakers installed, air conditioner and actuators serviced/repaired and a new belt installed. Like other products, the vehicle is only as valuable as the warranty offered with it.Thanks CarMax for a fabulous experience! ThanksService Department for addressing all my/our needs (repairs) for our used 2013 Chevy Captiva.

My experience at CarMax Bakersfield was great. I was torn between 2 different trucks. They shipped them both there for me to test drive back to back. I drove them both and the choice was easy. I have no regrets about picking one or the other now. My interaction with both the online folks (Jason) and the folks in the store (Trinity) were fantastic. I dont get all the bad reviews that people have given CarMax. I guess some people are just not happy. In my case they were the only ones that backed me up when the Chevy dealership in Bakersfield could not fix a warranty problem with my battery not holding a charge. That took them three months to complete (Chevy dealership in Bakersfield). In fact they spent money out of their pocket to compensate me for what the dealership charged me. $300 for something that should have been a warranty issue. Miraculously when I spent $300 at the Chevy dealership in Bakersfield the problem was fixed. I will never forget that and I will recommend CarMax to all. Also the buying experience of the truck that I bought at Carmax was very pleasant and easy.

It was very crowded on a Friday night at 5:30. However, the employees were patient and explained the process. I was there an hour while my truck was examined. I decided to finish up the next day. It was a very efficient process and I received the amount quoted to me online. I young man, Adam, in the business office was exceptionally nice and professional.

The administration office is disorganized, as they lost my paperwork that they needed to send to the DMV and I was even told I would have to bring my car in to get smogged before getting my plates despite the fact that I just purchased my car 2 months ago. Leigha the office manager was very helpful and knowledgeable, but everyone else in that office had to ask someone else for help and that person needed to ask someone else also. But I love my car and the purchasing process was fine, they just need to train their administrators better and need A LOT of organization.

That day they were short staffed in the office and employees were multitasking to ensure folks were being taken care of in a timely matter. Well trust place to buy vehicles, they keep promises. 1st time buying car @ CarMax and I completely satisfied, will shop again in the future.I bought BMW B4 late July 2021, which has service light on. The sale man, Michael Herrera, assisted me and told me that I can bring the car to anywhere for service and bring the receipt to Carmax for reimbursement. I went to BMW dealership to do all the services (oil, coolant, break fluid changed). I emailed Michael the receipt, a week later got a check (nearly $600) in the mail. I still find it hard to believe it, I didn’t expect to get any reimburse at all because it after Carmax 30-day satisfaction guarantee or you can return the car but Carmax mail the check as promised. Wow thank you Michael Herrera.

Dawn was amazing and did everything she could to get me into the car I came to look at. I was an emotional wreck yesterday because the people that call you aren’t the same people in the store and they tell you one thing and then it’s different in the store. Dawn not only treated me amazing and handled my emotional break down amazingly she did everything in her power to have me drive away with the car. Even if I didn’t get the car like I did I’d still feel the same way. She deserves a raise and a promotion because I’m sure she handles everybody the same and if she does then she definitely shows great customer service to everyone. Loved my car buying experience, with 1 exception. Expect your vehicle to be dirty!!I was able to find the exact vehicle I wanted, and the associates over the phone were extremely helpful in assisting me with the transfer process to have the vehicle shipped to my local store from out of state! It was quick and easy. Upon arrival they called me to let me know my vehicle arrived, and the sales associates at the store were very nice!But my vehicle was absolutely filthy. Even the associate when he drove up said “they must not have cleaned this at all at the other store before sending it here. I’m sorry you got called before we had a chance to clean it, but I’ll send it back to be cleaned right away”. I specifically told him I don’t want them rushing, and I could come back if they need time. He assured me they would get it spotless. After showing me the vehicle 3 times, and me sending it back to be cleaned, I gave up. I spent $40,000 on a dirty vehicle and took it home to clean myself. Took me 5 hours of detailing myself to get it where I wanted it to (which should only take a team of pros less than an hour to do a better job!). There was still very obvious spots that look like they had never even been wiped. Very frustrating.The worst part is I even notified them 3 times at the store, and in a post purchase review that my vehicle was filthy! Sort of expected at least a complimentary cleaning or something. But I guess once they had my $40,000 they no longer cared. Just be ready to do some deep cleaning if you purchase a used vehicle from CarMax.

I was able to quickly identify a car on the CarMax website I was interested in, and through the website, was able to schedule a home delivery for a test drive. CarMax brought the car to my home (I live over an hour away from the nearest store), and I was able to drive it for up to 15 minutes, which was enough to determine this was the car I wanted. After completing some paperwork online, I arranged to have the car delivered to my home for purchase. They even gave me top dollar for my trade-in. The CarMax employees were professional and courteous, and the whole process was super easy. I highly recommend them if youre in the market for a used vehicle.

So far it hasnt been 3 months. Step son purchased it in January. 37 days later. Check engine light and transmission problem. 2 weeks later got it back. And another week later hes broke down again. Paid out of pocket for a full diagnostic from a reputable auto shop near where he broke down. And check engine light again. Same code as before plus many more issues found... very poor service

My experience with CarMax was less organized than I had expected. The woman I was working with never sent a signed offer letter to my credit union. This was stressful, plus it forced me to used their loan financing for two days, until I could show the actual offer letter to my credit union. The guy who actually helped me take the car home was however very nice and knowledgeable. There were a few times I nearly walked out without the car, do to the lack of organizational skills from the phone calls leading up to getting the car. GET a signed offer letter, prior to getting the car. BRING your auto insurance with you.

I went in to return a car I had purchased that had electrical problems that caused the car to die twice I think the week of purchase. Once while driving.I have been communicating with the service department who told me I could come at any time to return the car. I asked if it needed to be just my self and she told me yes, just me no problems. Should be a fast visit. Well when I arrived I was told they couldn’t process a return on the weekend. After requesting the manager and explaining the situation, she helped to push this through but ran into trouble as I purchased the vehicle at a different carmax. At no point when purchasing was it explained that the car needed to be returned to that specific carmax. I explained how o felt extremely unsafe in the vehicle and refuse to drive it anywhere. She understood and said she would try to push this through customer service once they understood the reasoning. I waited in total 3 hours for the paperwork to be arranged. But when it came time to sign the vehicle, I was told it couldn’t be done without the co-signer present, despite being told when o purchased it that only one of us needed to be present. This is also a contradiction to what the service department explained when I asked. So in total I wasted 3 hours of my day waiting around for nothing. On top of that I already have wasted time and money purchasing this vehicle that gave me nothing but problems.I was already on the fence about buying a car again considering what happened but after the service I received trying to return it I can assure you I won’t be purchasing a car from y’all again. Serious waste of my time and feeling incredibly undervalued.

They got all paperwork done and it was like closing time so they ask if we come in the morning so we said great and got there and Isaac was off so a guy Michael help us and it was OK at frist because everything was already set to go. And after my Daughter wanted to trade her car and spend like 25,000 dollars on a car after trade in and this guy Micheal was the worst help ever and this is after I got a truck and trade in a car but dont get me wrong the Manager Isaac were great but because of this guy I will NEVER Recommend anybody to carmax so that said is bad and then I release my car and they told me it was thrown white smoke lies because it just pass smog a week ago so dont go there bad but great Manager

Unsatisfactory!I walked right out and called back Givemethevin.com and took their offer!Car max makes you go to them, GMTV does not! The employees at Car Max are very friendly and I did have a good experience buying my car. The reason for the 4 star rating is I feel that corporate should provide more printers for the Bakersfield store. We sat and waited for 2 hours for paperwork to be printed only to be told that it probably wasn’t going to be fixed that evening. So I left that night without my new car slightly deflated but hopeful for the next day. I did return the following day to complete my transaction but the printer issues were still evident. Several employees were waiting to use a small printer because both of the big ones were down for whatever reason. Bottom line, they need more printers and a solid back up plan for evenings when a printer breaks down. I’m sure this explains why at week 3 after my purchase I have still not received a welcome letter from Car Max. Either way, I love my car and I’m happy I bought from Car Max.

Probably he worst car buying experience of my life. It seemed that that you really did not want to sell me a car. It took over a week to move the car four hours from LA to Bakersfield. I could not get consistent answers and worked with multiple people. The car was not checked for safety or cleanliness. There was no sense of urgency in the team selling me the car.

The process and the people are just really first class in every respect. I have now both sold a car to them and bought a car from them, In both instances the process was really amazing, very smooth, very well handled by staff that really seemed well trained, knowledgeable, and eager to please. I really like the firm pricing on both selling and buying. This really is how the used car market should work. I would add they have a raft of disclosures in the interest of both the buyer and the seller. And then really, if you do not like what you bought you have 7 days to return it. I never thought of doing that, because what I bought was what I was looking for.

We had purchased a vehicle from Carmax here in Bakersfield Ca last year. Everything went good when we purchased the car. They registered it to us, looked over any problems we were concerned about. When it came time to register it this year, we could not. I was able to pay the registration, but I could not receive our tags. The dmv informed me that there was a lean hold on our vehicle from a bank out of state. The dmv also informed me that they need a notarized letter from the bank releasing the vehicle. When I went to Carmax for help. They said They were able to register it just fine for us last year. That they cant help me. That they dont know why this is happening. That we need to call and talk to the Bank that has the hold on our vehicle. That they (the bank with the lean hold) shouldnt have any interest in the vehicle and just realise it. You would think they cared more about their customers to help out. They were no help. I just dont understand how they could sell a vehicle that now has a lean hold on it. What if they do want this vehicle back? Im left with a lot of unanswered questions, and cant seem to figure out who it is I actually have to talk to.

This place was an amazing experience for me! They offered me the max bluebook offer for my trade in and in return gave me just what I wanted. I bought a 2016 Honda CRV that had very low mileage and virtually no wear and tear. The service was outstanding from the moment I walked in. Amber Ferguson was my dealer and she was very knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasant to talk to. She walked with me through the entire process and answered any and all questions I had about my purchase. She was absolutely amazing! I definitely recommend this place to buy a car.

I was happy with the experience of selling them my car. It was an old car with a ton of miles, so it wasnt really worth much. I got $1200 from Carmax, which was what KBB said it was worth if selling to a dealer. And it was WAY more than Vroom (offered $200) or Carvana ($100). There are lots of competent people working there. Yes, they get busy and some peoples experiences probably wont be great because of it. But they can only do so much.

EXTREMELY BAD service after I bought the car. Eddie the sales person gave us our car & before driving off the lot we noticed it had a paint chip, a scratch, & a tear in the seat. Told him about the issues we saw with the car & he said that we could bring in the car to get fixed if we made an appointment. Took the car to Carmax a couple of weeks later & they said they would try to buff out the scratch & that there was nothing they could do about the paint chip. The guy that was checking out the car also said that it was probably us who made the tear in the seat & that they don’t cover seat rips, which I get, but that’s how we got the car. I was out from COVID for a month & couldn’t take the car back to get another car but I was in no rush because Eddie our sales person said we had 90 days. & of course my wife & I being first time buyers really believed we had 90 days. So we took the car a week before the 90 days & there wasn’t anything they could do. So I decided to at least try to get whatever’s wrong with the car fixed. I work 2 jobs so I hardly have time to go but when I do the people who correct the paint scratch aren’t there. I’ve also had to order a passenger door seal because it was torn. & when I went to pick it up (because they never called me for an appointment. Even after a month) they ordered the wrong door seal. Now it’s been two weeks that I’ve been trying to call them & schedule an appointment because my wiper fluid won’t come out and it’s full. Overall this has been a nightmare working with them. I’m really upset & I’m a very nice person overall but I have no idea how this car passed or even met their 125 point inspection. I’d rate this Carmax a -2 because they’re good at working with you to get a car but when it comes to other things they really don’t help much.

Car Shopping made EASY! I dread buying a car...I hate feeling like the sales person is not being honest. It was very easy at CarMax. I found the car online, went to the lot to test drive and purchased the car. All within a couple of hours. The only reason I didnt provide 5 stars was because the car was not spotless inside. When I pointed out the excessive dirt in the 3rd row and the white compound left on the mirror, I was told they would take care of it. They didnt...and I didnt want to wait. I took care of it at home. The sales woman was super nice and attentive. I will most likely buy my car from there again. I wish all car buying experiences were this easy.

I put in a transfer for a honda civic. Got a call from carmax rep. They said it could take up to 28 days so I waited 29 days. Never heard back from carmax. So I decided to stop in and check on it. After standing there for 2 + hours 4 - 5 carmax employees got no where. Finely got someone that knew what there doing looking and found the transfer was never completed. Now the car I wanted is sold. Kinda upset 😡 . They said they will help me find another car. I want what I want and nothing else. After all Ill be the one paying for it. If the carmax rep wood of did his or her job I wood be be happy. I already bought 1 and this wood of been # 2. I guess being loyal is just getting sh!t on.

Traded my car into Carmax, bad choice on my behalf. They STILL have not paid off my loan, when trying to contact a manager, about getting it resolved, nobody answers or ever calls you back. The employee, Leslie was very nice during the paperwork but she entered the wrong lien holder info and said its too late and already submitted so she notated the account and said someone will figure it out... My bank has not received their payoff and this is affecting me, my credit, and my payoff is now different.... (18 days since trade in)Edit (one week later from original post, 25 days from trade in): So its a few days shy of one month after the trade in. Finally called the corporate office. At first they insisted the check was sent and said my bank was already mailing the title to them. Contacted my bank, no check was ever sent to them, let alone did my bank send any title... since they never received payment. Finally yesterday carmax stated the check must have got lost in the mail, see how they flipped their story around?! Hmm... anyways a representative from carmax stated they issued a new check, overnighted it to my bank. Will give it a few days, lets see if this finally gets paid off!

I tried to call to cancel the transfer of a car. The internet says they open at 11. I called shortly after 11 and was on hold 15 minutes. I called back and per the automated recording the office didn’t open until 12. I called back at 12:10 and was on hold 50 minutes before I hung up. I only gave it one start because that is the lowest rating.

I will never purchase another vehicle from CarMax-Bakersfield. They lie about prior usage on the vehicles, they also sell cars with active recalls and they dont think that its a problem.

I have not been blown away by a buying experience in a long time. The car was shipped to my city at zero cost to me. I had seven days to get a full refund. Things I called out on our car were addressed immediately, I was shuttled back to pick up my car when repairs were completed. No additional “weird” fees were added. I was assigned a lovely lady that kept me in the loop on my vehicle. But the best part...I left the lot with a car that had a full tank of gas.

My dad wouldn’t let me go anywhere else. He’s bought vehicles from here before and loved them. I went in thinking I’d get a car 3 years or older. And only be able to get approved for under $8000. I have 4 kids that i squeezed into a little Scion. They were simply amazing. I walked out with a 2019 Dodge Caravan GT. Such a wonderful experience with great customer service.

I had a great experience working with Robby at CarMax Bakersfield. We had a Suburban transferred from Ontario. Once the vehicle arrived Robby let us know. I had a pop up business trip that meant we couldnt test drive the car for a week. He managed to hold the car an entire week until I could return. A lot of other folks were interested in the car, but they stood by and made sure we had 1st crack at it as we had it transferred. The test drive went well and we bough the car. We were offered a warranty plan, but there was no high pressure to buy it. This is my first experience buying at CarMax -- Ill definitely use them again. It was so much better than a normal car buying experience.

I had a great experience with Carmax. I found what I liked online, I put in for a pre-approval, I was called by a representative and got the definite approval, I was test driving that day. I drove home with a new car the same day. Carmax is the only dealership I know of with a 30 day guarantee. I took the car back because I found a better one and drove home with a better car for me at almost the same cost. I am super happy with my purchase. Keesh is Bakersfield was a fantastic sales person and made sure I left happy. Highly recommend.

Carmax sold my 80 year old mother a 2013 BMW, and the paperwork said it was in good working order, had never been in an accident, had new parts, etc. My mother took it to her mechanic the next day, and he found that it definitely HAD been in a significant accident, had cheap replacement parts, the wrong coolant added, and significant corrosive effects from being driven on east coast roads with snow and salt. I dont know how this happens, or if this is common or rare occurrence, but to me it feels like my mother was being taken advantage of. At least she has a good mechanic on hand and will get her full refund back.

Had two great experiences here. I bought my car from them early February. Everyone was so, so very helpful. I literally went in without one and drove out with my dream car. They worked with me at every turn of the process. They explained everything and were very patient with me as it was my first time buying a car.When I went back the second time several months later to get an appraisal for my old car they were great! The person I had an appointment with was fantastic. She checked back quickly after I made an online appointment and did two more check ups and made sure I was prepared with all the documents I needed. When I went in she was with me right away and explained everything. Didn’t have to wait very long and I got way more for my old car then I even imagined I would. I’m so happy with my interactions with everyone at Car Max and forever grateful to them.
