The staff that work here are extremely rude. Not able to answer any questions with a direct person. Most of the individuals work there are homeless themselves. But they act as if they are someone important simply because theyre answering the phones.
Not a good place . Didnt pay what they said they would. they paid less than minimum wage. And hacked my phone . They created three accounts under my name
Scheduled a donation pick up, and driver and volunteer were rude, not wearing masks and were extraordinarily short sighted. Didnt want to to take a tv stand and end table due to a couple of scuff marks, I sold them for 200 total off Facebook. No wonder they are desperate for money. Look else where.
I have had a long standing relationship with the Salvation Army. This facility is excellent, exceptional in service, compassion and Love for me and our community. 5 Stars. Love you All!
Im not sure yet. If they dont let me have my service animal my rating will probably go down even further. Well they would not let me have my service animal who both, helps me with my diabetes and is an esa.
Good food. Clean housing.
I scheduled a pick up for an office desk, got a call the day before to confirm pick up window and appeared all set until same person called again and asked if it was just the desk I was donating then proceeded to inform me that the salvation army was not accepting desks. Huh? Why is it an option on the website? No loss for me since I made $200 dollars off facebook market on the rejected desk. I will go this route in future instead of wasting time trying to get them to pick something up. In another instance they rejected an almost perfect book case, driver left some note that we could not read. No point wasting time with salvation if this is how they treat donations.
Very clean and the people are very nice.
Nice people and very helpful

How do I get in an apartment im so sick of the BS
Always have the peoples best interest at heart. You can tell most of the staff really care... Some of them should just leave tho.
The people here are genuine loving and caring individuals. It is apparent that they have God on their side, as they have overcome many obstacles and are thriving in their efforts to help others get back on their feet & on their own with grace. There is much to be said for the strides made with limited funds. They are truly a huge community asset and I pray they get the funds needed to provide help to our families in need of help. Thank you Salvation Army for all you do. You definitely have and continue to raise the bar for care taking of our community!
Always take a look at an organizations 990 BEFORE donating. Even that doesnt prove where the donations go for certain.Donations are NOT going to simple, basic needs of those just trying to get off their feet after being faced with a tragedy.
They are very resourceful and are here to help you in every way if you use it to your advantage and do just that...you will be one happy person, if not this place can be like a living hell. Just take care of business and mind your own. If You go in with attitudes and too much pride, u might as well stay out on the street!😑
I live here and the conditions are horrible. Bathrooms are not cleaned and the showers are not cleaned. Also. Communication is bad. This place needs more funding if its going to make an impact in homeless peoples life.
The staff here and I would be referring to 90% of the employees and volunteers here are rude unprofessional and have no business having positions as they do theres a lot of what seems to be misdirected and held back funding and resources taking place here in the morals and judgment of those that make up the staff of this location are far from what one might described as helpful, caring, or supportive. Kicked out hurricane Harvey survivors family with young children and baby that lost their home and had nowhere to go with nothing more than the excuse of missing a meeting as. They were out looking for jobs and attending appointments of the City of Austin for housing and resources.
Lousy staff with the exeptionof a few. Always problems qith thepmumbing.
Things mustve gotten worese here 2018 was a great year for me here 19 it started getting bad
Good place for guidance!!
So some nights I dont get back to the Salvation army until 4 in the morning because of my job. And because Im not in the workers dorm I have to get up at 9 in the morning. And they told me it would be a while until I get to the workers dorm. And I miss breakfast cause I get up at exactly 9 cause they rudley wake me up. and when i brought it up breakfast to the manager to see if I can get a late one he said no, that I have to wake up at 7. that would be 3hrs of sleep. I cant function on 3hrs or 5hrs of sleep. What happened to doing the most good!!!!! And there food is disgusting. No meat.
Blessed to have a roof over my head 🙌
I am pregnant and I do stay here the staff is nice the supervisor kind of mean kitchen staff are nice only allowed to give you a little portion you cannot get seconds do not feed you enough even if your pregnant
A wonderful place for familys looking for residents
If you end up needing this place then your already in a pretty bad spot so most who stay here are very grateful. That being said, it IS a SHELTER and is therefor fairly sparse when it comes to nicities. Group dorms, group showers, group feeding times.
Id like to start my rating by stating that pretty much everything the long post at the bottom of all of the ratings list here is untrue. I lived here for about 2 months. I was never required to do any work around the building, nor was anyone I knew. Admittedly, the review is from four years ago, but I highly doubt it was the case then. There is no daily job training class to go to. Weekly at most, and they require weekly meetings with your case manager. Its not a rough hill to climb.I was able to get messages. Just today I am about to call to leave a message for a fellow who asked for us to come pick him up for Church Sunday. I do not believe it has ever been the case that they would not take messages. Also, there are free and public phones available nearby. 25 cents could always get you in contact with your family through a collect call. So the entire concept of the young lady not being able to contact her family for four months seems suspect at best. What IS wrong? There is nothing wrong with communal same sex showers, first of all. It is the standard anywhere large numbers of people need to bathe quickly and efficiently. However, when I stayed here the showers and bathrooms were not held to a very high standard of cleanliness. Probably the most bothersome and most truthful aspect of the post and rating I was earlier debunking is there is definitely some sort of disease - some airborne allergen or virus or something - that haunts the dorms. The entire time I was there I suffered from breathing difficulties, and within a day or two of leaving I was back to normal. This is by no means an isolated incident relegated to me and a handful of hypersensitive people. It is pretty much the universal experience of folks who stay here.Something definitely needs to be done about that. Most of the staff are truly gems, but when I was there one of the security guards was rude and brusque almost all of the time. I have not seen him there lately, but I only show up once a week to volunteer to teach a Bible study.Overall, this is a good place to get back on your feet if you are homeless. One would like to think there would be more help available in one of the richest cities in the richest and most powerful nation in the world, but folks - there just isnt. This is one of your best bets to get back on your feet, and there is nothing comparable that I know of in Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio.P.S. Yes, I just left a message for my friend. They take messages.
So unless ur an ADDICT or get lucky enough to stay in their ALWAYS FULL shelter they wont help you. They disregard if your a veteran or a single mother escaping domestic violence and trying to start with 2 little girls in need of beds. They take FREE DONATIONS and flip them for hundreds and hundreds of dollars. 400$ for a beat up twin bed.... I work full time and live in low income housing fighting tooth and nail to keep my head above water and am still told no.... I will not donate or give a dime of my income to this crooked ass store.
Great organization to work for. Depends on private donations along with city, state and federal funding to provide support for its many programs to help the homeless.
Try staying at the starvation army, where they make you sleep with no air . sweet to death or get booted out.only if your a employee or in the worker dorm
Does there best to help the homeless in any way tht they are equipped.
Good thing they can get problems resolved. Thanks. But heres what happened. >Monday January 21 2019. They are still being so unfair almost put me out for someone harnessing me again. They get to yell at scream at me and everyone else and I hadnt brought at problem to them in a while and keep getting me mixed up with other people. When Scott said he wanted me to handle on my own because he gave up. They make up rules as they go. Not fair and didnt want me to talk to Iris anymore like hes word is final. Wow unfair or is he just scared because of all the grievances I have that they still hasnt went over with me.Got photos. Im in some of the photos too. Photos at different locations as well. 12-20-2018√ The only reason Im here is Im waiting on the efficiency to become available and Im really close to moving in but i have to have patience. Yesterday I come back from class and this man, and yes I seen it before from different men and different locations, just walks over out in public and finds a corner right in front of the camera here and pulls out his private part and starts peeing in front of me and everyone and yes cameras are working. And hes not even playing it off. Is the security inside going to do anything about it because I had told some people in charge there and I was advised to ignore it because I guess they have it handled. But they keep doing it and others there spit rudely at people as while. Maybe I should write another grievance. This morning I wake up to someone slamming there mat with other mats. I will hope for the best and plan for the worse.12-4-2018 √ Better today. I know they cant fix everything all at once. In the hundreds of the housing listings. Very close to getting moved in the efficiency Im applying for. Thats what Im waiting on.Sometime before December 3: √ They let me go because of several people there harassing me there and im not the only one they did this to. I guess they were embarrassed because they didnt know the answer when it was giving to me right in front of everyones faces. Assault me and and take up for myself and this has been done to plenty of people there. Thats we some left. The officer here did take up for me but then the staff member that I wrote a complaint about got up my face retaliated against me because they didnt fix the problem there. Happened this morning at breakfast and made me leave my food there and walk out. Its not right up in there. I was only there waiting on my appointment coming up soon. They aint no good up in there but some will at least try to help. People in there fighting each other, arguing, disrespectful to one another, spitting at eachother, its so bad there. I do have family and friends but they are going to a difficult time too. Im adult and and should step up when I need to. Someone and even when u outside will do the same thing. Im starting to complain on these people because I dont want your family member or friend to go through that.Went back the next day and fix what needed to be fix for now. I say that only because of what happened recently. So far so good now.New √ Monday 12-03-1983 : on my birthday. Yea happy birthday to me. Picking on me again and not the only one and didnt even fix enough of the problems here. I guess I could go talk to the person that help out that last time but I dont want it to be all the time. And yes thats how many times I have problems here. Not the only one. People have been sitting there then all of a sudden want to cause problems and then rude about it. And the ones that sleep here that do things everyone else is doing have something bad to say. It stopped making sense. Rude, cruel, people live here and work here. I know theres a few people I can talk to about it but its beginning to be all the time now. Im just waiting for the big event. Until I really have to.
I would like to thank them for all the help they gave me .three people most of all Mr JD, miss Roxanne and miss Kelly. Thank you all very much .
IVE STAYED AT THE SALVATION ARMY MANY OF TIMES AND LOVED IT MY OLDEST DAUGHTER VISITS THAT PLACE MANY OF TIMES AND HAS NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT THE PLACE
This place dont help with housing pierod if you dont relocate you will be stuck here forever real talk reach me by Facebook send me a request I live in San.A. now have my housing for two years now blessed but I helped myself they never helped me
Thanks for helping out with my parents the people have been great and I feel so much better knowing that there is someone there with them God bless you all
This place is so confusing I cant even find the words to explain it to anyone. I guess my main question really is..what in the hell is being done w/all the money thats donated to help the shelter? Call me crazy & I might be now if its contagious LOL J/K. Seriously tho I really dont see anything being done about some serious issues that wouldnt cost to much if it get fixed now.
The staff here were so kind and helpful during my stay.
The Salvation Army had helped my financé & I awhole lot with kindness & generosity...also their staff is awesome..thank you so much!
So many reviewers arent putting out the truth. My name is arthur I came here from Alaska 6 days ago. The salvation army does a raffle for those who are not staying there currently. They call it a homeless raffle and draw to see who gets picked to stay there they say its how they make it more fair thats what a black woman named Loretta at the desk told me. The arch a place that claims to help the homeless around the corner is for other homeless but I was informed they do have a serious bed bug problem and their trying to combat it but they claim to not have the resources. They have security there that goes through your bags and does steal from you. I had my watch stolen and when I brought this to the managers attention and pointed out I have 0 history around here of being a problem maker or fight starter or any other nonsense nusiance history he told me I was making it up so I pick pocketed the security guard right in front of the manager and pulled my watch from the guards pocket and showed the manager my last name was written in permanent marker on the inside of the band and still he claimed his guard doesnt steal. The soup kitchen across from the arch people at the arch will tell you serves at 12 but it starts serving at 10 and ends at 12. The showers upstairs in the are nasty small and NOT accommodating accomidating for people with physical disabilities. They have a shower curtain on the mens shower room door and if you close it for privacy they yell at you DESPITE the fact it is AGAINST THE LAW for them to have any sort of viewing device or a monitoring system in any bathroom even something as simple as a shower curtain they wont close. I have been to many shelters and homeless assistance places in many cities, and states and this place is BY FAR the WORST place. EVER.
Horrible experience. Will definitely be looking elsewhere from now on for my donations. It is sad that so many are in need to behave so poorly to those trying to be charitable. Please look elsewhere for your donation destination.
They were good to me when i was homeless for 7 months they help me get my iwn place
This place is wonderful help.and is professional people who runs it amen.
There’s a whale of a woman at the front desk who hates everyone, probably herself included. Despicable human.
These folks are scam artists. It’s quasi-funny that they provide no information about what locations actually sell stuff to the public and good luck trying to get anyone to answer the phone. Maybe if I’d chosen the “give money” extension...
They dont go by there policy!!! and the employees treatment against the clients are terrible!!!!!!!😐😣😭😞😖
NATALIE ABRAM FROM CALIFORNIA AND ASSOCIATES FRAUD ME OF MY GRANDMOTHER MINERAL RIGHT ACCOUNTS AND SOLD PROPERTY TO A MR. IGNACIO VOLVERA 6411 FM 671 IN LULING, TEXAS 78648 WHERE I HAVE MINERAL RIGHTS TO OIL AND GAS LEASE. MRS. WILLIE MAE BYRD AND LEE BYRD OF KENT COUNTY, TEXAS. BUT MR. IGNACIO VOLVERA DID NOT RECORD THE LAND ONLY WITH CALDWELL COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT AND TRIED TO HIDE THE PROPERTY SOLD TO HIM BY THE DEBLIN HEALTHCARE CONCEPT ASSOCIATED WITH NATALIE ABRAM AND MRS. Have worked here for 14 years. They help a lot of people.
The workers are great but the people going there stink to high heaven.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Salvation army is no good in Austin Texas they did not help that nobody
My brother met some people here who ended up murdering him and left him out on Platt Lane out past the airport.
Horrible living conditions
Clean very helpful and understanding staff
Good selection of preowned merchandise
Their good at trying to get the homeless.help
I really dont have anything nice to say about this place so I will not say anything.
Im very thankful for the salvation army
All types of assistance for people experiencing hardship. My choice was Veterans assistamce.
Helping people get back on their feet.
They help you with your needs.
Would give less if I could. These people treat their residents like garbage, the place is a ruin, water fountains and air conditions broken, dirty, and abrasive very hostile staff. Scary place. Do not donate to these people.
They make grown men take showers together no dignity, the gay bath houses of the 70s are gone,
Great place to get resources from
There arent many resources do its only a good place to find to sleep.
Very nice view
I dont like that area of Town due to the K-2 Smokers down there!
Great place to get help
This location (501 E 8TH St Austin, Tx) might not sell stuff. I cant say for certain, as its apparently closed Saturday afternoons, but it appeared more service-oriented.
They are helpful when needed
Have opening for homeless women
They dont care about your stuff and really dont care about you either
Just dont be out past 7pm
I used to live here and eat meals here and well there mystery stew is nasty...
They do a lot. They could do a lot more...
They helped me to get housing.
Feels just like being in prison.
Great place to work....terrible management
Special place
Will update when possible
Too craziness going on there
My Uncle Got Help

Worst place in a downtown environment
A bunch of crooks who take home with them the choice donated food items while serving their clients mystery meat.
Very racist against the white minority
