Native Edge redesigned my entire backyard creating an oasis for me. Davis and his team - Devon, Jacques and Derick worked tirelessly in mud, rain and heat to create a garden, steel pergola and cafe lights, slate walkways, a water feature, a steel arch and bench, raised beds and more. Matt and his crew even substituted on days when Davis couldnt make it with Chad, Isaias, Keith and Aiden. Love their work and love sitting outside on my new deck.
We knew before we started that this is a very popular landscape company, so we knew they might be backed up with other orders. Once the process finally started from design all the way to installation completed, we couldnt be happier with how everything turned out. They installed a new deck, added two metal planters, and installed/replaced sod. The entire crew: Jarod Adkinson, Michael Davis, and Jacques were always courteous, professional, and patient with any questions we asked. We plan on doing two more phases to updating our overall landscape and really look forward to the continued relationship with Native Edge.
They charged $2K for bamboo maintenance (tying back, trimming and fertilizing). You read right. Two thousand American dollars. They justified this by saying it would take a crew of 3 people a full day to do. The first visit they spend 1.5 hours and did such an objectively terrible job that the manager came out and sincerely apologized, saying they would make it right. They came back out with 3 new people who had no idea how to do the work. I spent 1/2 an hour explaining how to do bamboo maintenance the company who charges $2K for it? They spent 4 hours (I have time stamps on my cameras) and the final result is terrible (Id describe it as C-level). Do NOT believe that you will get what you pay for with these guys. The opposite is true.
Jaques and team did a great job with our backyard install. Erin also created a beautiful design that required minimal changes. Im very happy with the large trellis they built for our yard. Thank you for your services Native Edge
This Landscaper has a $45K minimum for projects. I filled out several online forms and went back and forth with them via email. They estimated my project with what Id filled out from the form to be 23K-38K. In the end they emailed me to say they have a 45K minimum. I may end up spending this much, but dont want to commit to that up front before they even come out. I do understand that landscapers are swamped with work, so Im not doubting they can be choosy. I spent quite some time filling out their online form and it just seems easier for everyone if they state in advance that they have the 45K minimum.
WARNING, great service until you sign a contract and make a deposit (50% of total), Then service goes down hill, FAST AND FURIOUS.INSTALLATION DELAYED NOT THEIR FAULT, They GOT BACKED UP.First of all no warranty of PLANTS surviving unless you get a $300 a month service contract for 3 months. NOT TOLD THIS IN ADVANCE.MY BAD WE ASSUMED A REPUTABLE COMPANY WOULD BACK THEIR WORK.DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING WITH THEMAfter installation service GETS lousy TO WORSE. To get a response and action was VERY HARD and lots of excuses why project had issues, same answer always. It is NOT THEIR FAULT.Contract included a new sprinkler system, Turns out only partial, although quote says new sprinkler systemBE CAREFUL GET FULL DETAILS of exactly what the scope of work is, DOWN TO THE finest detail in WRITING.Now the Sprinkler pipping is surfacing, told a settling problem. The pipes, as picture show, are in an area where they placed lava rock. Either they did not place enough rock or pipes were not dug deep enough. BUT NOT THEIR FAULT, SETTLING.........pipes sticking out real niceADDITIONAL .WARNING DO NOT PUT MULCH WHERE THEY INSTALL PIPPING FOR SPRINKLER. SETTLINGWE PAID for DEER PROOF plants/trees, after Deer munched at them, we were told to put protective mesh around items to stop the deer. A mesh looks real nice after you spend this amount of money.BUYER BE WARE
We have used Native Edge for maintenance since the company opened. Over the years the service has varied a ton as the team changes. This week was no exception. I went out to get my mail and had to do a double take and go back outside. Who ever is new to the team you need to make sure you keep! The attention to detail was over the top and very much appreciated! The way the beds and the trees were edged made a huge difference and makes you notice immediately that the lawn was taken care of. Its the little details that really give the yard that WOW factor and that is definitely one of them. Even the neighbors said something. So Thank you for the extra detailed attention - continue with the great work!Thank you for all your hard work and quick responsiveness!
Offers nicely organized ways to plan your new yard and maintain it
This is a bit biased cause Im working there but I like the company over all.
I cant imagine a better, more professional crew than Sarah, Jarod, Ralph, Chad, Emiliano, Isaias, Charles, and James. We were so impressed by their attention to detail, workmanship, and communication. Just.... everything was perfect. The crew also went above and beyond by trimming our trees and plants and power washing our driveway and sidewalk before they left—we were not expecting that.I have to mention Erin, too, who listened carefully to my vision for a front yard that would be a gathering place for our friends and neighbors. She took that idea and turned it into a design that was even better than I was imagining.Thank you so much for all of your beautiful work! We love our new front yard and cant wait to see it all grow in this spring.
Many companies are happy to build or plant whatever you ask them to build or plant. But Native Edge has the horticultural and landscape architecture expertise to provide sound advice. We needed to address broken irrigation, erosion due to steep slopes, plants and soil that had not been properly maintained over the years. Native Edge sourced custom-fabricated steel to add more terracing that matched the existing terrace walls. They replaced broken spray irrigation with drip irrigation, re-graded the slopes and adjusted the shape of our dry creek bed to redirect storm water runoff. They installed native and drought-tolerant plants in a modern design. And they did it all with a smile. THANK YOU Jarod, Chad, Ralph, Joe, Emiliano, Julian, Brenden, Devon and Kyle!
My name is Timothy B. Harris. I work at Native Edge Landscape. I am a member of the installation crew. We have an amazing management staff who are very organized when it comes to getting the job that you want done! I am very honored to be apart of this company. I know that you, as a customer will be very satisfied with the results for what you are looking for!
Avoid. We hired them to redo our yard after we put in a pool. We liked their design, but were very dIsappointed with the end result.Details are below. The summary is that lots of stuff died or was eaten by deer, and the drainage work we had them do did not work. They also will blame you or others for their mistakes. They made 3 critical mistakes:1) Massive under watering during the first 1-2 months. They programmed our smart controller to water the new plants and grass and assured me it would be fine. The new sod started dying almost right away. I upped the watering by 4x (twice as often for twice as long). The sod started springing back to life. When the other plants started dying, I upped those zones as well. It didn’t immediately help. When I told them, they said it was too much watering (the first time they blamed someone else). So I reverted back to their schedule, but picked one plant to hand water every day. Guess, what! That plant survived, while the others did not. I then replanted new ones myself and watered them aggressively.2) Poor choice in plants due to a heavy deer population. One type of plant, but not all, they planted in the front were completely eaten by deer. When I mentioned that, they gave ME a list of things to do. After A LOT of back and forth, and A LOT of them shifting blame, they did replace them with more deer resistant plants.3) We had them design a drainage system so that rainwater wouldn’t end up in the pool. The pool builder had put in one pipe already, but that was not a complete solution. Their plan was to re-do 2 intakes, and then bury the end of the pipe in a very small dry well. When I told them I don’t think that little well can handle the volume of water that we get, they said it would. During the first big rainstorm, the pipe backed up (not a surprise) and muddy water went into the pool. When I told them what had happened, they again blamed everyone but themselves. They even blamed the pool builder (bizarre). They did then dig up the end of the pipe to see if that is what caused it, sure enough, the next big rainstorm was no problem, except that the water causes a mini river on our walkway. When I asked them to extend the pipe to move the water out of the way, they asked for $750 more. That’s after spending over $30k with them. Also, they don’t guarantee any of their plants unless you sign up for their maintenance plan. That was in the contract I signed. I was not expecting their maintenance to be so expensive. If you do go with them (which I do not recommend), ask for the price of the maintenance up front.***I predict the owner will respond to this review with something like: “We are sorry you weren’t satisfied. We tried to work with you to find good solutions...blah blah. Don’t believe it. They don’t stand by their work and they will blame others.***
Our experience working with Native Edge, start to finish, has been refreshing. Given the pace at which Austin continues to grow every person with a hammer or a shovel thinks they can be a contractor or a landscaper. So its been refreshing working with a company that wants to stand behind their work. Oh, and our yard turned out amazing too! From concept to design to install, everything turned out better than we thought.Dillon was our Designer and sort of de facto Project Manager. He was very responsive and did a great job setting expectations at each step of the process. Ive seen other reviews mentioning that they were surprised about plant replacement and maintenance programs, we did have that experience at all. Dillon was upfront with everything. It also helped that we asked lots of questions. The design he put together was perfect. He mentioned to me that he stepped outside of his comfort zone for our design, from the more modern designs hes used to. My wife and I think he nailed it, the design really fits the character of our house. The install was smooth. The foreman, Jarod, communicated onsite dates with us clearly, and there were very few surprises. The entire install crew: Clifton, Ralph, Brenden, Devon, and Joe were all incredibly professional, responsive and clean. Given the current state of things with the Covid Pandemic we are working from home, they all did their best to keep that in mind and keep things organized and tidy at the end of each day.The entire Native Edge team has been super responsive to all of our questions and inquiries. They all also handled my uncontrollable urge to micromanage certain details professionally. As I said, it was refreshing working with a company that cares as much about the final product as the customer does. Well use them again in the future.
Should have posted this review ages ago. Started working with Rodney over a year ago on plans. I was impressed with the design and their flexibility in suggesting installation options at various price points. We were able to make a few small changes along the way easily. The installation was last fall and it was nice but this spring it has really come to life. I have had to do business with various trades to remodel and maintain my house. Native Edge Landscape has been far and away the most professional. Had to call them again today, twice! Brock helped me find solve a problem and addressed several other concerns quickly and thoroughly.
Jill and Rodney were invaluable when it came to designing our new landscaping idea. We could tell this was not their first rodeo. They really understood the practicalities and fundamentals when it came to implementing what we envisioned.Really appreciate all the hard work your crew-John, Jarod, Mason, Daniel, Alan and JonPaul- put in on our landscaping project. Every one of them was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Eli was always able to explain the mechanics and time frame of what was being tackled on any given day. The crew cleaned up the area and neatly stored their equipment at the end of every day.Kyle emailed me at least once a week with an update on the project which was most appreciated. We are extremely pleased with the results and will recommend Native Edge every chance we get.
