If you’re looking for a real genuine guy and need quality work done and much faster than any amp repair place in town, look no further. Ben rescued my 12 year old Deville and now she’s screamin’ like an eagle. I’d recommend anyone to trust him for their amps as well!

I found out about Joes Amp Repair through a Google search. He had the highest rating and glowing reviews.I had purchased a Chinese Stereo HiFi Tube Amp from that famous online auction place. After two months the RH channel went weaker than the LH channel by about 40% or so. There was no schematic for the amp. I had purchased it new BTW.I gave to Joe aka Ben and he had it back to me in a couple of weeks. Hes a busy guy ya know. Bad coupling capacitor on the driver tube.I wont go into what happened with my interaction with the vendor I got the amp from... lets say I came out smelling like a rose on the refund.Take your tube equipment to Joe! He is honest, forthright and above board on the repairs and gives you the old parts back!

It was a sincere pleasure doing business with Ben. He is a super nice guy and a veritable treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to amps. Its clear he loves what he does. He fixed up my 1995 Marshall JTM30 1x12 combo amp, and I honestly dont know if its ever sounded better. The turnaround was quicker than Id expected, and his rates are very reasonable. Hell be my first call for all my future amp needs.

Joe is a super guy and very talented at what he does. He fixed my Hot Rod Deville and made it sound beautiful, just as it did the day I bought -if not better. All for a fair price.I highly recommend taking your amp to him. No bench fee or diagnostic charges and his turn around was quick.

I had a great experience taking my solid state bass head into Joe’s. I’ve found it quite difficult to get anyone to work in my solid state amps, but Ben took it in and fixed it in no time! What I really loved is that he’s not only extremely knowledgeable about what he does, he’s very upfront about what to expect, be it procuring brand specific parts, cost, and turn around time.Just a side note for long time customers, Joe’s is no longer operating at the old location in Hyde Park and has moved east. Be sure to check out Google before planning your commute and give him a call prior to your arrival.

Taking my Billy Z amp in for Ben to repair was a pleasure. He is an A++ Amp Tech and an overall cool dude. The shop he has now is done up real well and appears to be very secure so there is no worry about leaving equipment to be repaired. Yo this place is still open! Check with Ben for modified hours, but I just got my amp serviced with him and as always he did a great job, is super fun to talk with and his prices are very reasonable. Safe social distancing procedures. Ive had Ben work on all of my amps and every time they come back singing and purring. Simply put, this has been one of the best customer experiences of my entire life, let alone the best amp repair experience of my life. Ben is as honest as the day is long, genuinely cares about his work, keeps in touch at every stage during the repair in terms of anticipating repair charges, and also keeps the repair costs down as much as humanly possible. Then theres the repair itself on my 66 Super Reverb - he found and fixed several issues that I didnt know existed after it apparently having been given a clean bill of health by the repair man who worked on it previously. This amp now utterly sings - its been completely reborn. Im so lucky to have found Ben. Do yourselves a favour folks - take your amp to Ben and thank me later!

Ben is super cool. I wasnt happy with the tones I was getting out of my Fender and he said bring it in with your guitar and well give it a listen to see what is wrong. The amp sounded great at his shop, and Ben was honest and told me it didnt need any repair. Turns out its the acoustics in the room at my house is the culprit. No charge and he even carried my guitar out for me. When I do have a real amp problem I will be back! Also, he has Sun Studio style recording studio and played me some tracks, which sounded great and authentic!

I went to Joes for the first time to get my amp repaired. Its a stereo guitar amp and one channel was not working.Ben is just a good guy and honest. He introduced himself and worked with my amp for about 35 to 40 minutes. The problem was obviously not a major problem and as he tinkered with my amp, testing the tubes and checking the wiring, cleaning the contacts, etc., he could no longer duplicate the problem. I suspect that his tinkering fixed the issue, which may have been a simple bad wiring harness connection.I tried to pay him for his time but he refused to take my money. He told me to bring my amp back if the problem reappeared.I do not hesitate to recommend Ben. I will also not hesitate to go back when I need amp repair in the future. And, at some point, I will need to get my amp repaired.

Steve is definitely one of Austins most knowledge techs when comes to vacuum tube guitar amplifiers. Since he is also a very accomplished musician, he understands what it means to have a piece of equipment (in this case a life long friend) that allows you to create music and really enjoy yourself.
