The states largest educator group and the voice of education. They look to provide the best benefits for Texas educators and to provide a quality education to all Texas kids, regardless of what zip code a child lives in. Proud to be a member of this organization. They look out for the greater good -- and they help protect educators rights. ATPE is a huge voice for pro public education issues at the Capitol.
Ive been a member for 20+ years and had never called them before. I ALWAYS renew my membership when I get my paperwork in my school mail after school starts. It is deducted from payroll. I called to ask a question and I did not know that my membership expired July 31st. Because of this they would not help me. All they cared about was me renewing my membership. I assured them that I would definitely renew. Ive done it for years now. He kept saying that people try to take advantage of their services. Even though I explained many times that I had been a member for a long time and had never called before- that didnt matter to them. I am so very disappointed with ATPE. Ive always thought that they were here for the teachers. I was very wrong, they are here for the money.
Great voice for educators.
Had a very bad experience with ATPE lawyers. They are not interested in protecting a teachers rights. I was wrongfully terminated and all my lawyer said was well we dont agree. Also, the local president inSan Antonio told me she couldnt hear my problems because she didnt want yo be subpoenaed in case I sued the district where I was being bullied.I regret joining ATPE. I was terminated and they were too weak to fight my case. And as i said, the president was not interested.
They are pro-administrators and cant fairly represent teachers against the principals who are also members.
