We bought an old home with an in-ground pool and didnt know much about it. We called around a bit before we found Don at Prestige Pools. He came over soon after and knew exactly who built our pool and all the details about it. After he gave us a quote, I read some terrible reviews on him. He came over after to have us sign the contract and go over it together and we spoke about all the reviews and cleared the air. We knew at this point he was honest and trustworthy and had nothing to hide. Due to COVID-19, our liner was very much back ordered but as soon as it came in, they resurfaced our in ground pool with vermiculite (most companies said they would use foam padding) and from that moment, I knew we chose the right company! He installed the liner the next day and the pump the following day (as we needed a decent amount of water for us to understand if the plumbing was still good). I was very impressed with how efficient his crew is in this crazy time of year and especially now with pools being purchased nonstop. Highly impressed with the service, knowledge and quality. Dont read into all these reviews. Theres always another side to them.
First, I want to say that Todd and crew were great with us. Todd is Don’s son. Todd does great work and works hard. The quality of work was good (minus some chipped hardscaping...but I will work to cover up errors with shrubbery). We have enjoyed working with Todd.Don is the owner, he overcommits to jobs, is unable to fulfill ANY timelines and is unable to hold a conversation with females. Don only wanted to speak to my husband and the TWO times I spoke Don had great difficulty communicating with me (female). He refused to read my texts or respond to them because “it would make him too mad,” though he willingly did so with texts my husband sent him. After my text to him, he called me for the purpose of screaming AT me and asked me questions, but then said he would not “allow you to say a G*dda*n word”. When I calmly said “Don...” between his screams, he continued to scream into the phone, to the point where I just hung up. Don is NOT interested in holding a conversation as an adult, but would rather result to screaming as if THAT will get anyone’s point across. It’s an unfortunate business strategy...we will not recommend him to anyone we know for ANY service.Don will try to “clear the air” at early meetings with you and discuss his ‘few negative reviews out there’...Unfortunately, we continue to see more and more negative reviews pop up and now we felt the need to warn others.
Bought a hot tub from them last month. Delivery was smooth and hot tub was placed exactly where I wanted it on the deck. Electrician left and hot tub would not stay running. Don came over and discovered the electrician had wired the tub incorrectly and rectified. It was also discovered the blower was DOA from the manufacture. Don pulled this out and promptly installed the replacement. I will having pool installed by these guys. Nothing but a positve experience.
They are VERY unorganized. It took all summer for a pool to be set up and running. They didnt have the right parts to finish each time they came out. The pool is unlevel and the linner is torn. We have contacted them several times starting in April and they lied about when they were coming to look at the pool. Its now almost July and they avoided our calls. Very poor customer service. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone!!
Worst pool company in town!!! Stay Away!!! I had them open my pool this year because they had advertised on their sign about a pool opening special so i figured why not ill give them a chance. They opened my pool on May 23rd and I didnt get my bill until almost 3 months later and they charged me over $500!! Ive never paid more than $250 for a pool opening which included the cost of chemicals. When I got my bill they didnt give me a detailed list of what they used for chemicals or leave behind the empty bottles of chemicals like every other pool company does. Even after the opening my pool wasnt clean at all I had to go back to my normal pool company, Premier Pools and still spend another $80 on chemicals. I called the office twice looking to speak with Don and left messages with the lady in the office but Don never returned my calls. I decided I wasnt going to pay my bill until I heard from Don and instead of calling me he sends me a threatening letter saying hes going to take me to small claims court if I dont pay my bill. After talking with other pool owners I have learned many people in the area have similar issues with this company and would never recommend them!
They are very helpful!
Worst company in Auburn Maine owner very rude and argumentative from the start. Bought a sand filter from them no instructions no clamps or anything called they said they would come out no charge to fix it and order parts the filter needed called today talked to the owner and he called me you people want everything for free which is not what I wanted. They never ordered me the parts the owner swore at me belittled me and had a horrible attitude and wouldnt even listen to what i was trying to say his employees said to me. This is the worst company i have ever delt with!! Will NEVER buy anything from them or do business with them.. so be careful dealing with them they dont back up anything they say!!
Probably fine at pools, not so great at not yelling at pedestrians at night in company vehicles.
Only place that had what I needed
Had a $40,000+ pool and patio installed. Ended up with nearly $20k in damages due to poor workmanship...two other pool companies and another contractor verified this fact. Owner, Don Asselin made physical threats towards us when we contacted our credit card company due to damages. BEWARE.UPDATE: One year after this review our pool is no longer holding water. Had it inspected and have additionally discovered they did not remove the clay and backfill with sand and other appropriate materials like we paid them. So now the pipes for the hoses have broken. And now when we run the filters, the water leaks out and around the exterior of the pool.Again - BEWARE. this is going to be another $10,000 fix (or more).
Terrible service . Called to get a replacement part and the owner swore at my wife just because we bought a Walmart pool and a pump from them....
Great service
Great pools and spars
Great
