This review is lengthy and as detailed as possible, but the bottom line is that Asheville Computer Company has proven to me that they are not only unwilling to search for the most cost-effective and proper solution, but are seemingly unable to admit when they are proven wrong.Note: This is an edit of my original review because I wished to address the owners response to my complaints. My full explanation is as follows, below my original review:MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: Do not go here unless you are knowledgeable about computers and certain of what your problem is. They will up-charge you and overstate your problem.While the staff are professional and polite, they completely misdiagnosed my problem. They said that I would have to pay well over $300 for a problem that turned out to be a $40 fix. To make matters worse, they didnt listen to my suggestions and were incredibly hesitant to offer me additional options past completely changing the hardware of my computer. I paid their mandatory $100 bench fee for nothing but wasted time and bad advice.MY RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS REPLY: I have no issue with the practice of charging a diagnosis fee. Im not looking for a refund at this point. My grievance stems from the poor quality of said diagnosis. I was told by Asheville Computer Company on several occasions that my CPU cooling fan issues stemmed from a voltage issue, and that my motherboard was not able to supply enough power to my fan. However, after this diagnosis and their attempt to upcharge me, it was confirmed by two separate, independent sources (one of which tested the voltage output for EVERY port on my motherboard) that it was NOT a power problem. It was in fact a faulty fan which I had originally suspected and told Asheville Computer Company about. I would also like to point out that I was well aware of the fact that the $100 diagnosis fee would be subtracted from the labor cost, contrary to the owners implication.Furthermore, it is illogical that charging customers a large diagnosis fee helps the business provide a better level of service and charge a reasonable rate for repairs. Even though the labor rates are lower on paper, youre still paying the difference with that $100 dollar fee, so any effect is has on labor rates is rendered void in most cases. Lastly, the notion that this helps provide a better level of service is proven false by the factually incorrect information they gave me.It is frankly insulting to be told that it is my fault for not being happy with their diagnosis when I have proof that their diagnosis was simply incorrect. The fact that this business is trying to gaslight me is unbelievable. This is not a matter of me being a cheapskate, as the owner implied. This is a matter of a business refusing to admit when they are wrong and showing no grace or integrity when confronted with this fact. For these reasons, I have lowered my rating from 2 stars to 1 starFinally, I understand that I may have just been unlucky. Making a mistake from time to time is acceptable (when its a professional, it should not be expected, but as I said, I mightve just been unlucky). What really upsets me is their refusal to admit they were wrong after the fact, and their repeated attempts to inflate the cost of my repair. I am not just a disgruntled, ignorant customer who is upset at how expensive PC repair is. I have factual evidence and proof that what they told me was false, and their refusal to admit their mistakes combined with their attempt to gaslight me and explain away their errors is highly frustrating and disappointing.Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience. I hope those who use Asheville Computer Companys Services in the future have a better experience than myself.

I was skeptical of this shop prior to visiting, simply because of my experiences at previous computer shops. What can I say? My experience was impeccable. I could not have picked a better place to get my iMac Pro repaired. I formerly used shops that only serviced Apple products, but these guys know their stuff. Joseph spoke to me first on the phone, laying out the possible reasons for the issues I had, the pricing for different services, and the time period involved. I brought in my computer on Wednesday, Joseph had it diagnosed on Thursday and completed by Friday. When I picked it up, Ricky was handling the two customers before me with knowledge, efficiently, and incredible understanding and politeness, when he then turned towards me. He patiently handled every question and thorny problem, some that Id had for years. And I learned that he worked at Apple in California for years. These guys are professional to the nth degree. I will be going back to them, and I recommend them highly, for any computer you have.

From the start, these guys were very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend them to ANYONE. There was a constant line of communication on what they were finding, in real time, and every step that was taken towards solving the problem, I knew about.Hes my story from start to finish.I googled computer repair in Asheville. I looked at the reviews much like you are right now. I decided that Asheville Computer Company was my best bet. I called to get a quote from them around 2:30pm on a Thursday and was sent to voicemail. I was a little taken back by this but I allowed my patience to step forward and left a detailed message. I later found out that they were completely slammed but still were able to resolve my issue VERY quickly. I received a call back the very next morning as soon as they had opened their doors. This was relieving because I use my PC for work and Im in a place of needing to meet deadlines. I gave them a call back and they said I could bring my PC right on in.The minute I walked in the door Ricky Lavoir asked me how he could help. He asked me what all was going on with my computer and I explained everything that I had done to try and resolve the issue.(Id also like to point out to those that are weary about going places during this crisis were in, they are abiding by all the guidelines and made it a safe space.)Not an hour after I had left the store I received a call from Ricky on what he thought the issue was and what he was going try. I received maybe 2-3 other calls after that so he could log into my computer. Before I took my computer in I couldnt even get to the log screen. My computer wasnt communicating to my monitors so this information was very relieving. The next day (as I write this) around 3pm Ricky called me to let me know that my computer was ready for pickup, what all he had done to resolve the issue and what he improved. He then gave me a full run down on what it would cost for the labor, diagnoses and for some software that he suggested I have. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved with the price for everything.Again, I would highly recommend them to anyone. Its great group of guys who clearly know what theyre doing and its obvious that they enjoy doing what they do.

Thanks guys, awesome job. My wifes computer crashed. Under Best Buy warranty (what a joke), they told me 30-60 days. These guys figured out quickly the motherboard was fried. Instead of charging a fortune to fix it they suggested getting a new computer and they could clone the drive and transfer everything. I got the new one and they transferred everything quickly and a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend them. (On a side note, Best Buy is going to replace the old one if I have to hire an attorney and sue them for it. Their extended warranty costs a fortune and isnt worth the paper its written on)

Asheville Computer is my new source for all computer needs. I bought a new laptop from Best Buy and brought it to them to have my info from my tower switched over to the new unit. I ended up getting the Lenovo laptop and that was a mistake. Ricky attempted to transfer my personal info onto my first laptop and there was a problem with this Lenovo. I took it back to Best Buy and had to return it and get another one ordered. I had to wait 2 weeks to get the new laptop. Brought the second one back to Ricky and the same problem. I ended up taking it back and getting a Dell. The Dell finally worked! Ricky was so patient with this issue and was a pleasure to work with. Aaron, you should be excited about this employee that you have. He goes way beyond the call to provide excellent customer care and service! I am glad I found you guys!

Aaron came in and got my network working much better and compliant with all the IRS/FCC regulations. He was in and out with minimal disruption. He listened to exactly what I needed and came up with a plan. The quote was accurate and what he charged when complete. He explained everything to where I could understand it and was very patient with all my questions. He is providing monitoring and virus protection on a single yearly contract which makes it simple. I would highly recommend them to any small business owner. IT makes or breaks us, since we cant hire a full time person.

I dreaded giving up my old windows 7 computer, but forced to for continued microsoft support. Ethan worked a miracle and actually duplicated everything I loved about windows 7 on my new computer windows 10!!! He listened to me and his skill made it a seamless and painless transition. He even managed to transfer an old DOS program I had (yes they exist) that held over 1000 of my own recipes painfully typed back in the 1980s on floppy disks. And they are still printable. Paul was not a problem. I just would’ve appreciated a more thorough explanation to my questions rather than a quick reference for a different store across town. There was not much of a spill and I had explained that to him as well, only that the keys may be a little sticky but that after removing one or two keys, I did not see any major damage nor stickiness.I really wanted to explore my options with you as a company. I felt quickly pushed aside without much explanation for why is all.I would like to emphasize that your website does not list these exceptions on older MacBooks, which was why I specifically noted for consumers below that need to replace their keyboards.All is well. Ive received a few recommendations and the reviews were flawless however my experience was anything but.I called on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday to inquire about some services on my keyboard regarding my 2012 Macbook Pro. I left two voicemails with no return call. I showed up yesterday and met with a CSR. nice guy, however he informed me that they do not work on models that old nor were they willing to order parts or work on it. He gave me one suggestion and left little direction on who I could talk with or where to go..I explained my efforts in trying to contact them and how urgent this is however he did not seem to take that seriously.. besides that the store seemed dead so it was pretty frustrating to drive all the way there and he not seem sympathetic or willing to help. They could have been busy in the back but I felt left in the dust. He was not rude. Pleasant demeanor but very little interest in my situation or for the lack of returning my calls.Please update your websites so that people like me with older computers can go elsewhere.I repeat. If you have a Macbook Pro needing a keyboard that is older than I believe 2014 (the information he relayed to me) .. do not go there. They will not work on it.

My laptop had been having problems with charging. When I attached the AC adapter, it would take a lot of jostling and twisting to make the laptop start charging. The slightest movement would knock the cord out of place and stop the charging altogether, and then it was a fight to make it start charging again.At first, I thought it was the cord. I bought a new cord and discovered that it wasnt the cord that was the problem, but the DC jack in the laptop. I searched online and found Asheville Computer Company.I called in on Monday, October 9 to get an estimate. I was invited to stop by with the laptop so that they could take a quick look at it. I came in later that day, and we verified that the DC jack would need to be replaced. I paid $32.10 for the replacement jack and was told to expect a call by the end of the week to let me know when the part was in and I could bring my laptop in. They let me know that the labor would cost about $105.By Friday they still hadnt called. I called them on Monday, October 16, to inquire. I was told that the part had already been delivered to the shop and they were ready to receive my laptop for repairs. I dropped off my laptop around 5:10 PM that day and was told that they would begin work on it tomorrow. I was also told that repairs were usually-done same day.On Tuesday, they left me a voicemail at 3:28 PM letting me know that they needed my PIN for my computer so they could begin testing it. I called them back at 4:07 PM, and they let me know to expect a call in the next half hour.I did not receive a call back from them. I called them at 4:48 PM to inquire about whether or not my laptop was ready to be picked up. I was told that the laptop was now charging, but that my keyboard was not working. They were currently trying to figure out why this had happened.They called again at 5:06 PM on Tuesday to let me know they found out what had gone wrong. In the process of replacing my DC jack, they had inadvertently broken one of the connectors to my motherboard, and it would not stay on. Aaron told me that they had just placed an order for a new motherboard, which would arrive either the next day or Thursday. I would not be charged for the new motherboard, nor the labor involved, for which I am grateful.I did not hear anything from them on Wednesday.On Thursday, I received several calls from them. At 11:09 AM, Aaron called and left me a voicemail telling me that they were still waiting on delivery of the motherboard from FedEx. At 4:26 PM, he called again to get the password to my computer. At 5:40 PM on Thursday, I was finally told that I could pick up my laptop. I was discounted $20 from the labor, leaving me with a $90.95 bill.I am grateful that Aaron and everyone at the Asheville Computer Company was able to fix my laptop. But I wish that I had been kept more in the loop about what was going on -- when the parts were received and when there were problems.

Called at 9AM with a computer problem, dropped it off, took just an hour to get a diagnosis with a price quote.Accepted price quote, and in less than a day they: salvaged the working parts of my computer, put them into a new shell, replaced the broken parts, cloned my entire computer (data, applications, networking, settings...) and I was back up and running.Price was exactly what was quoted, it honestly might have been $10 cheaper.Not to mention very friendly, very polite. FABULOUS EXPERIENCE & GREAT SERVICE!!! When it comes to PCs, I know just enough to get myself into trouble, so when my gaming desktop went down I contacted Aaron and his crew at Asheville Computer Company. I work at a business that values a good review, and ACC has outstanding reviews, which is what prompted me to contact them for my repairs. I must say that all the good reviews were reinforced by my experience with them. Excellent, quick and responsive service. Couldnt have had a better experience with Aaron. Aaron even agreed to meet me to receive my machine outside of normal hours. Had one issue arise after pick up and he quickly remote connected in to resolve the issue without any additional charge. Summary, super responsive, great results and my Dell Alien is back to normal.

I didnt want to hand over my laptop to one of the big chains for repair, so I searched online for someone local. I found Aaron and Im glad I did. He was helpful, courteous, convenient and affordable. He replaced my keyboard and laptop cover quickly and even cleaned out the inside grime/dust. Im very pleased with the results. A waste of $40.00. After a totally wrong diagnosis. Took my computer to Best Buy where they repaired it and found the first diagnosis from Asheville Computer Company not correct, and a waste of my time and money. For another $40.00, told me not to buy a new computer and fixed all my problems quickly while I waited.

Recently had to go through the daunting process of buying and setting up a new computer for the office. Asheville computer company made the whole process so easy. Aaron is a personable young man with a lot of knowledge and confidence and he took care of everything for me. They set up the new computer transferred everything over told me what was what and how things worked which was very slightly different but not a big deal. He continues to be available after weeks have gone by for questions and concerns ... which there have been relatively few. Highly recommended!

Aaron from Asheville Computer came out and fixed my new TV. It downloaded updates and then I was unable to watch Netflix or Hulu. I spent hours on the phone with Netflix and Hulu customer service and still got nowhere. Aaron fixed it in about 30 minutes. He is amazingly fast! He does house calls and reliably comes out within a few days at your convenience.His prices are lower than any other computer service in Asheville. He directly came to my house to pick up my laptop for a hard disk data transfer job and got it done quickly. Aaron provided truly wonderful laptop service. He solved all the issues with my laptop in a very efficient way, explained what each issue was as he solved it and was very patient in answering all of my questions and concerns. Aaron will be helping me with the purchase and set up of a new laptop. In another situation when a problem came up in the middle of a work project with a deadline, Aaron kept me from panicking by accessing my computer remotely and solving the issue within minutes so that the project was completed on time.
