They were kind to us when we adopted a dog at one point. The fact that the new owners of brother wold actively started putting down animals she didnt like is despicable and goes against non kill in their description both in person and on their website and paperwork. Overall kennels were clean, dogs smelled good, and they were great with helping us find a puppy!
Very cool people and well cared for animals I lived my visits after we got molly 7 yes ago and she loves to visit as well so if a rescued pup loves to visit brother wolf I think you would like them also
Very nice people to work with animals we had to find placement for our dog lux because our landlord sold our neighborhood now no pets allowed. The staff took the time to explain how adoption works asks for everything to make lux feel at home then assured us if we wanted to truly find a great family it takes time. We found a home before they could our grandpa took him in. But they were great and there to help
Staff is very friendly seem like they were doing a good job on taking care of the animals
Whoever who was the employee that greeted us at the door obviously had a bad day. She was rude and made sly comments to make us leave eariler than expected. She shouldnt work in a place such as this if she doesnt even want the time to give us info on the animals inside for adoption
Wanted to see a small dog to maybe adopt but you have to make appointments now so no dropping by just to see puppies!
My dog is from BWAR. Its humane n a tribute to animal compassion far n wide.
Brother wolf mobile clinic is the best service I have received for both my pets. I took my male and female here to get fixed and they treated them both with the care they needed. We even received follow up calls to check on them to see how they were doing. They also offer an emergency clinic if needed and you can call with any issue that arises post surgery. I would highly recommend this service for any animal that needs to be spayed or neutered.
The staff was great.. The cat the we adopted is sweet BUT came with a nasty smell from not being cleaned and he came with an ear infection. They need to do a little more than just feed the critters if they are available for adoption. It would also probably help their chances of getting adopted if the animals were clean.
I took my baby to their mobile clinic today to get him fixed and they were awesome. It was affordable and they took great care of him. The people who work there are wonderful. I definitely recommend that anyone who needs to get their fur babies fixed but cant afford to pay alot to go there. ❤ Brother Wolf!!!
The staff picked the perfect dog for my friend shes home with Buster this weekend as happy as can be 🥰🥰🥰
Met my best friend here. Perfect match
Great place trying to give pets a home
Friendly and normal people, loving and decent character, tight knit organization that takes care of their animals and have high commendation around town. i am only going through the first phase of adoption screening (easy online survey) ... good vibes as of yet 🐱🐱
The absolute best I have two adopted the dogs from here. Looks like its turned by a bunch of cool hippies.
We got our precious Fiona at this place and she has been the best, smartest baby girl ever!!!!
Great cause. Garbage website
We used the Mobile Spay Clinic in Asheville in March of 2021. Just a few months ago. Everything seemed to go fine the assistants who came to get my puppy were very kind. I didn’t meet the vet at all which I thought was strange but because of covid everything is strange now so I didn’t think much of it. They ended up forgetting to give us our leash back. I called and they kindly mailed it to us since we live 35 from Asheville. The issue began in April. My puppy started having swelling, redness and fluid filling her incision sight. I took her to my vet in Brevard. They said she was having a reaction to the incisions. They gave us some nsaids and antibiotics and told us hopefully that would fix the issue if not the surgery would have to be redone. She started having the same issue a few days ago. Unfortunately she is going to have to have the surgery redone tomorrow. It is going to cost us 350-500 dollars to have it redone at my vet. The price of the surgery is the reason I went with Brother Wolfe in the first place. I am a newly single mom of 2 small children and a puppy in a few months and that’s just not in the budget. But we are going to have to come up with the money for my puppy. I’ll probably end up charging it.This just completely angers me that the surgery wasn’t done correctly the first time I’m extremely disappointed in Brother Wolfe Mobile Clinic. Whoever this Vet is that did the surgery I hope you make it right by reimbursing us so that we can put that money towards the new surgery. I absolutely do not trust Brother Wolfe to go back and try to correct the surgery no way.I have emailed and left a voicemail with Brother Wolfe in regard to this situation. I will update if Brother Wolfe makes it right. As of right now I would give them 0 stars because of the vet that performed the surgery.Update: Holly at bw has been very kind in helping me get my refund. My vet decided this morning to try more medication before another surgery. Changing my review because they have shown lots of kindness.
Love this place they really care for the animals. My kids and I love to volunteer here
I had such a great experience! I adopted my beautiful kitty cat there around spring of this year. He is the sweetest boy, and he was cared for very well at Brother Wolf. Their adoption process is simple, and the girls I worked with were very friendly and helpful! I will definitely adopt my next pet here!
We just adopted the most beautiful cat in Asheville NC 😁. Shadie Saddie😺😺😻
Thank you guys for what you do. Honestly I dont know how you do it. I was losing my mind with just my cat with me 😂 😳 the person doing intake was personable and it made me feel better. Autism and screaming cats dont mesh well and I was on the verge of yet another public meltdown 😞 I feel guilty because my cat is just scared but I dont have the coping techniques. The intake person just made everything so smooth and probably unknowingly, eased my anxiety. Hopefully my cat will feel the have the same result
Awesome place! Wish I could go there and adopt an animal every day.
Got my best friend here. She is a cat with FIV and makes me the happiest person ever. Amazing people work here.
I dont think I quite understand this place. I went there and found a beautiful dog and was so excited when told I could pick him up the following morning after speaking with counselor. My husband and I drove about an hour to get there, didnt quite understand why I had to wait but was ok with it. Went back next morning only to be told by this counselor that this wasnt the dog for me. To be quite honest I was hurt and upset! She starting with saying I wanted a yard dog and went on with judging me as though I would not be capable of handling a pet. I couldnt for the life of me understand where she came up with this. Yes you do fill out application but this was not what I put on it. Maybe because I am in my fifties she assumed I am to old to have a pet, the only reason I say this is because she asked if I had another one in mind and I did. Oh Lord, guess what again told no.I understand trying to find a good home with loving and caring. This pet would be loved as family. I am a big animal lover, it is a shame these people are blind as a bat in my book. These animals need a good home, but yet they stay in this shelter. To be kept being passed over, so sad! I thought to rescue one from a shelter would be wonderful. Needless to say I bought two AKC German Shepherd Puppies. My new family is Athena and Ekko, they are being spoiled everyday with so much love! Brother Wolf you should be ashamed of yourselves! Your intentions may of started out good but from the way I was treated was sickening!!! You have never once made any effort to apologize or even talk to me, but yet quick to thank the ones that had something nice to say!! To me this shows that you knew you treated me with so much disrespect, again Shame on you!!!!! My fur babies are loved and spoiled, they even have their own toy box that stay filled !!!
I was absolutely thrilled. The adoption went smoothly and I was very well informed about the health of our new family member. The staff was great friendly and helpful. Marley is very loved and spoiled here so many thanks to brother wolf. If you are looking to adopt I would strongly recommend them.
It was very positive experience and I walked out of there with a wonderful cat
Got there at 5:20 pm. Won’t let me to take a quick look at dogs. Told me they are closing. Now it’s only 5:25 pm. They closed the door. Had to make a appointment. Been looking for a dog for few weeks. They said sorry. We are closing. So they close at 5:20. Not 6 pm.
Was very clean animals seemed to be well take care of. Staff nice. Only thing bothered me was have to have an appointment.
Nice place to get a new animal..
50% of everything today at the thrift store at Brother Wolf!! So my (normally $4) purse was $2 (so I bought 2!)!!! Than $5 for a grocery bag of clothes!! Any clothes- womens shirts, shorts, dresses, mens clothes, childrens clothes! Anything article of clothing that fits in a grocery bag all for $5!!
We were totally impressed with Brother Wolfs mobile clinic. The staff was top notch and Courtney explained the care we needed to follow to ensure our puppies healed well. They educated us and kept us well informed. We highly recommend Brother Wolfs mobile clinic.
Great, very helpful and accommodating. Have used 4 times and will use again. Helping people to do their part in spraying and nutering pets and not costing a fortune. Thank you brother wolf.
Very much impressed with goals and actions. Hope to work with them in some capacity soon.Thankx for all you do continue on your path.
I contacted someone named Dave whos dog named Pepper was on the Brother Wolf website living with his family who I provided information for but couldnt give me the courtesy of an answer whether I could meet the dog or whether she was adopted by someone else. Disappointing waste of time and rude.
A wonderful organization! Great work with pets. Efficient staff members with personal attention & client follow through!
Wonderful people work there
Food was mediocre. NOT Northern Italian.
I adopted my dog, Chase here.I personally think this is an amazing shelter, if you need or want a dog, i highly recommend BWAR
Great experience. I adopted A small animal from the Asheville, NC location. They were on time for my appointment. The adoption paperwork was digital and very easy to complete. The fee was much cheaper then I thought it was going to be. And they chipped her already for free. I left with everything I needed along with a complete copy of my paperwork. She was in great health. I would give them 10 stars.
I went to BWAR for a specific need: a barn cat. They fix and train barn cats whereas most shelters will just put them down. They made sure I was educated on the needs of a barn cat and that I was not expecting a friendly house cat. I think this program is really valuable on several levels and I’m grateful for Brother Wolf for my 2 cats who are now happily hunting mice on our property.
Really great experience at Brother Wolf today. Thank you Hannah!! Thank you everyone!!!
Brother Wolf and Asheville Humane have come together during this pandemic. Back in July, I inquired about neutering and services for my puppy, and because of everything going on with the pandemic, I thought they had forgotten about us. But, I was wrong. They reached out to me. My 10 month old was neutered yesterday, microchipped and vaccinated. They were very professional, friendly, caring and even called today to check up on him. I will definitely continue to donate when I can. And I will support them in any way I can for providing services that we werent sure how we were going to get or could afford. I cant thank you enough.
Absolutely disgusting operation. We took our cat to get neutered and was told that if he had his rabies vaccine, they would not administrator a dose. When I asked what else we needed to bring, they said nothing. When we arrived, we were asked for paperwork. We told them we did not have it as we just moved, but that he was recently vaccinated. They administered a double dose to our cat WITHOUT our consent or knowledge until after the fact. Upset is an understatement as the vaccine itself, and especially a double dose, can cause a variety of issues in animals including cancer. Not only that, it is not recommended to administrator a vaccine directly prior to anesthesia or surgery as it is dangerous to do so because the vaccine alone can cause anaphylaxis. Furthermore, one of the vet techs was outside smoking when my husband pulled up and walked directly back in DURING SURGERY. I would have rather paid for the operation at a reputable vet and been given the option to produce the paperwork. Absolutely despicable.
Loved it!!!!! Staff was wonderful!!!! Found Scout a playmate. We pick him up Friday at noon.
So caring and helpful....
We are going tomorrow to do a meet and greet of one of their dogs with our dog tomorrow. You must rearrange this(dont just show up with your dog) and as long as they like each other we will have a handsome addition to our forever family! Update: well its been 2 months and hickory(the brown one) has earned his place in our hearts. Hes so weird but we love him. His favorite spot to sit is on top of his sister, on top of mom. Thanks guys hes really come out of his shell and hes a total dork but we love him! Well off to Azalea to run the dogs! Youll be happy if you get a dog from these people.
They are so caring and understanding about the situation!
I am so pleased with Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. Circumstances forced us to have to surrender our dog- obviously an emotional time. I spoke to Laura at BWAR about their policies and history with an open mind. We are satisfied that they have the best interests of the animals and their neighbors in mind. Our dog was immediately adopted and now lives happily on a farm. Everyone we met at Brother Wolf is caring and kind and we thank them for the good work they do!
Havent been there yet.. but Im giving them 5 stars anyway
Very, very disappointed with Brother Wolf rescue. We adopted a Plotthound 1 yr old dog 2 1/2 months ago from Brother Wolf, and we have 5 other dogs. All dogs were getting along, but last week the Plott and another 3 yr old Plott that we have started fighting. After 4 days of this we took the 1 yr old back to Brother Wolf. We went to get him back, called and called then they called us and set up a meeting for us. The drive is 1 1/2 hrs each way for us. We live in Tennessee. When we arrived they were adament they were not giving us the dog back. They pride themselves as being a NO KILL shelter and when my husband asked specifically if they were, the director evaded the question. She told us he would go to a foster that once had him and that she will bring him to the shelter every morning and pick him up in the evening. So he will be caged all day, every day, instead of letting us take him home and giving him a 2nd chance. I had arranged aggressive training with the 2 dogs to start the next week. She was adament. She couldnt have told me on the phone yesterday.Ive been reading reviews on Brother Wolf and am reading that dogs that she deems unadoptable or aggressive are euthanized. There are people who have worked there that reviewed them and said they have put 10 dogs down, and another that says 9 dogs are missing. I was so upset that they would rather abuse my baby or put him down. DONT EVER TAKE A DOG TO BROTHER WOLF RESCUE in Ashville, NC. The director should be FIRED. She is NOT compassionate at all. Get someone in there who loves animals and has their best interest at heart.
Help with anything tbat has to do with your pets
Very helpful.
It is a very good pet store every one there ae so nice
Its been a while, but we love Brother Wolf. They do important work.
Brother wolf= love
Loving staff. Organized.
This place is a joke.. had been in contact with them and was told if I could catch the strays around my home and bring them in they would take them. Well just took two kittens, a male and a female and they refuse to take them..
We volunteer here. Some very cute kittens and cats available for adoption. There are some cute dogs as well but also some very troubled dogs that will require the right home to adopt. They try hard to find homes for all of the dogs so they dont have to be put down and I give them a lot of credit for that. It is not an easy thing to do.
Great. Very nice staff
This rescue has lost its way. 19 healthy dogs were euthanized. 6 this past week. They refused to adopt them to people with experience. They refused to send them to sanctuary where they could live out their lives with the top aggressive dog sanctuary in the country. The new director is killing healthy dogs instead of doing everything she can to save them. She is silencing everyone who disagrees with her actions on their page. The kill date was even moved up when people found out what she was doing so that a court order could not be obtained to stop her. Don’t support this organization and their crooked ways. Let’s not forget the mismanagement of money and how they can’t explain where it went. Absolutely a pitiful excuse of an organization disguised as a rescue. I stand with the 19.
Had Mcrib. Its been years. Now I recall why I waited for so long.
We have adopted 4 elder dogs from Brother Wolfe and all of them have been great fits for us. We will only rescue and they are a great group that will rescue and care for pets until they find a forever home. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and I love them for what they do.
Great service very nice people even if we only were dropping off stuff. 😁
Brother Wolf is a very warm and compassionate place with a wonderful staff that genuinely loves their animals. Saying goodbye for them is obviously very difficult but done with love. If you are looking for a fur baby this is the place.
Fantastic people that go above and beyond for animals. They are very helpful, friendly and knowledgable about what they do. They care about the animals. That is important to us.
NOT THE RIGHT REVIEW! I went as a guest for a company Christmas party. Very unique experience with how the food is served. Good food too! This is not the right review for this place. My comment was posted for another place. I did not go to Brother Wolf for a company Christmas party
The mobile clinic took good care of our kittens when we took them to get shots and get them spayed and neutered.
I used to be such a huge fan of Brother Wolf, volunteering with the hiking club, bringing huge bags of food and supplies as often as I could. They were a great shelter that helped so many animals get adopted, my dog(/best friend) included. When my husband and I went back this week to try to adopt another puppy into our family we were met with unfriendly and disjointed staff and a feeling that we were unwelcome and unworthy of adopting an animal.A few folks working in the back made us feel as though we could visit with the puppies and were helpful, which I really appreciate given the polar opposite of the front office, who acted as though we were completely ruining their day by coming in. During our couple of visits over the past few days, I was told by multiple staff members completely differing information regarding the adoption process. And the puppy we wanted had to be adopted and taken immediately or no adoption, so when I went back the following day she was gone. Also, I was literally just chased out to my car by the rudest of all the staff who felt it necessary to retell me that I couldnt bring my senior dog to meet a potential new member of our family. It was either take a puppy this second or get out.Beware of the current management disaster if you consider adopting from BWAR. I guess something about me suggests I am not a suitable pet owner even though I work from home so my dog is rarely left alone and we go on a trail run 3-5 times a week. It seems everything at that facility has gone downhill, which is such a shame, especially for the animals. I will be volunteering my time and donating my money elsewhere from now on.
My family and I went on March 31, 2020 to meet a puppy and see if she would be a good fit for adopting, we met her and took her to play and we instantly fell on love with her. We went in and decided to adopt her. When everything was done they took our picture with her and we thought it would get posted somewhere, needless to say when I went on the Facebook page, they had pictures of puppies, dogs and cats that was previously adopted. Its been over 2 weeks and they apparently didnt want to post our picture. The recent adoptions happened after adopted our sweet fur baby. I know this because these puppies were still there the day we got ours. I asked why they didnt bother with ours and the only thing they could say is that they make sure the adoption is a good fit before posting pictures, needless to say also we didnt get any kind of history on the puppy like why she ended up in the shelter and they also couldnt tell us what shes mixed with. I will never do business with this place again!
I love people that rescue animals. Brother Wolf does an excellent job of caring for all the animals in their care. It is the cleanest facility I have been in, and have been in many. Thanks for all you do for the animals.
Brother Wolf is a highly ethical and responsible animal rescue in Asheville, now concentrating on cats, dogs, and small animals. I was fortunate to adopt a cat on Saturday and our family (including kitty) could not be happier. Donate if you can, and above all, adopt, dont shop!
The staff here went above and beyond and made us comfortable with getting our fur baby Mel. She was such a perfect fit and you can really tell the staff cares about the animals. No matter how frantic the facility is the staff always have time to check in you and make sure they can answer questions to the best of their ability. Great place to find your missing family member!!!
Brother Wolf does more to help animals and their community than any other organization I know of. New leadership has really made a lot of meaningful improvements.
Brother Wolf is an amazing organization! Weve adopted 3 dogs from them over the years! Our most recent rescue, Niomi, is coming up on her 1 year anniversary, and 13 years old! Shes our princess and our other dog, Judge, has his 4 year anniversary in December! The volunteers at this organization really care for the animals, show them enormous amounts of love and patience, and see that they are adopted by forever families so that they never have to see the inside of another shelter! Our dogs have completed our family! We proudly support Brother Wolf in any way possible!
I used to love this place. I adopted multiple animals from here over the years. I have donated to the rescue and protection of these animals. They claimed they were a no kill shelter, and yet in the past months they put down over fifteen dogs, after numerous people offered to adopt, relocated, or save them. Do not support these people.
This used to be a great rescue, however now it is overrun with shady activity, unnecessary euthanasia, and overall terrible management. A building that was gifted to them for the specific purpose of building an animal sanctuary, along with hundreds of thousands of dollars, is now up for sale. The public has asked about the funds but has received no answer as to where they went. Needs to be shut down or at least stripped of nonprofit status!
I recently rescued a Bunny named coco there i renamed him maxen their Professional and their staff is so nice but i think they do need more information on rabbit care the rabbit i picked up was only on hay i drive 2 hours way for this rabbit he’s a fantastic rabbit totally in love with him.
I recently adopted my precious tripawed dog from BWAR. My dog, Peggy, was in their care for almost three months. During which she presented with a myriad of symptoms ranging from bloody/coffee colored urine and fleas. BWAR said that her urine was due to either her being in heat or a UTI and they failed to do further testing regarding my dogs condition. They also claimed to have treated her fleas. After getting Peggy home it became abundantly clear however, that she was suffering from some type of illness. Her urine was still coffee/bloody colored, her coat and skin were full of fleas and scabs from flea allergies, she had a living tick in-bedded in her, and her amputation site was infected due to a surgical dog ear that went unaddressed. I noticed all of these issues within the first four days my dog was home with me.BWAR had Peggy in their care for almost three months and failed to notice and appropriately address these issues. I firmly believe that BWAR acted with negligence, even if unintentionally so. They had a dog in their care whose amputation site was draining pus. They had a dog in their care that had they taken off her collar, they would have noticed the fleas and the allergy markings that they supposedly treated. They had a dog in their care who, had they taken the time to thoroughly investigate her medical issues and to not operate from assumptions regarding diagnosis, they would have realized is seriously and life-threateningly ill.But they didnt notice, they neglected. The primary issue is not that I adopted a dog who is going to die soon and who I have, at this point, already invested over $5,000 worth of medical treatment into. I love my dog and would adopt her 1,000 times over.In my eyes, the issue is that BWAR is negligent. I care about the other dogs in their care. I care about whether or not they are receiving the care that they need and deserve.Based off of my dog Peggys experience while at BWAR, based off of the dogs they have euthanized despite claiming to be no kill, I can say that I highly doubt so.
This is a big noo. I used to love coming here and seeing the animals and wishing I could adopt them all . But now knowing that they put them down (kill) perfectly healthy dogs. It’s just a shame.
Terrible experience! especially to the young black man with twirly bands on his left hand rude and disrespectful no customer service whatsoever this is the 2nd time I come to this terrible place in a year what was I thinking? 6:33pm
Great place to rescue your next furbaby
Do NOT TAKE UR DOGS THERE! THIS IS NOT A RESCUE. THEY DO BAD THINGS HERE, AND ARE EUTHANIZING PERFECTLY HEALTHY DOGS! THEY R TRYING TO COVER UP WHERE THEY SPENT THEIR GRANT MONEY N MY OPINION. MAYBE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO USE IT FOR SHOTS AND ETC. AND DIDNT, SO NOW THEY R EUTHANIZING THE ANIMALS TO COVER UP THAT THEY KEPT GRANT MONEY
Give me a free dog!!
Nice
I love their heart for animals.
This is the sort of review one wishes they did not have to write but given that, Brother Wolf is an outstanding organization. There are rows and rooms full of dog kennels with basic information about each. The little descriptions on the crate doors do not indicate the age of the dog so you will have to ask about that separately. The kennels are clean and well-maintained. Staff is helpful. I believe the animals get great care while awaiting their adoption. The first section of the rescue building has kitties and occasionally pets like guinea pigs or parrots. There are volunteer opportunities with this organization.
Screwed up my attempted adoption twice. Half the animals listed dont have pics or accurate information posted. And when I drove down to visit in person, the girls working there were less than helpful. Doesnt seem like theyre trying that hard.... except to get donations that is.
Last week was name you adoption price ... we got a kitty!!!!
