WARNING: DO NOT rent from this place! We are natives of Asheboro and rent from Hoffman all the time, but this will be our last time. The rental we were leased was a red 2013 dodge minivan with over 200,000 miles on it. It was not cleaned thoroughly and barely had any gas in it when we picked it up. It also had missing and broken pieces on the interior and exterior of the van. Last, but not least, and worst of all, this van clearly had a problem with the transmission. After calling to let them know that we were having car trouble and had been stranded for nearly an hour before figuring out that we could only drive the van manual, we were told we’d be charged for another day. I can assure you that all of the other negative reviews on here are true and I don’t know how Jeff Hoffman sleeps at night after treating loyal customers, like ourselves, the way we’ve been treated.

Its great we have a locally owned business in Asheboro that rents cars, trucks and passenger vans. Very professional, your experience is quite different from commercial companies. I have used Hoffman on several occasions and always have been very pleased with service and their vehicles.

Cars are filthy with several issues, break down. rent them with no gas in them, guy in charge is a complete jerk and talks to his help like they are dogs. if you want poor service and a garbage can on wheels for 62$ a day then this is your place. unfortunately this made me leave one star or else i wouldn’t have

Sold me a car and in 45 days the transmission went out. They had it towed to a shop and said they would pay half the repair cost. After a week of phone tag they finally tell me where my car is. I call the shop and they refuse to tell me the cost of the repair. I told them I would take it elseware so they tell me. The price Hoffman told me was ‘my half’ of the repair bill was the total cost! They weren’t paying anything!! They lied the whole time! Had a friend go buy a car there a few weeks ago (they forgot what had happened to me) and they cheated her on the paperwork for over $1000!

Every time I have needed a vehicle I have been given exactly what I needed at the right time very good place to work with very good people.

Honestly one of the worst places in Asheboro to go. I dont know how this place even has a 4.3 rating. If you’re in Asheboro, look for somewhere worth going. This place doesnt even deserve 1 star.

It was truly a miracle that we found Hoffman Auto. Im from Pittsburgh Pa and was driving to Myrtle Beach. Unfortunately my car broke down about 25 minutes south of Asheboro. I had my car towed to Dawkins Garage nearby. The tow truck driver from Ashebrooke Towing recommended Hoffman and had the after hours phone number. Otherwise we were stuck and all other car rentals were closed unless we got a ride to the Greensboro airport. Mr Hoffman met us on a Saturday night after hours to save us. We got a fantastic car for a great rate and our vacation was saved. He was so nice and helpful we were so happy and relieved. If Im ever in the area again Im stopping by to say hi and thank you. Great people!!

On our vacation to the zoo, unexpected and unforseen events left us briefly without a car. While the friendly folks next door at Quality Auto Repair worked their magic on my car, my family and I were in need of a way back to our hotel. After an hour of calling around looking for ubers, taxis, buses or anything (no transport in Asheboro) we were faced with the reality that we were stuck out of town on the side of the road. Desperately, we made the decision to walk into Hoffman rentals and to my surprise the receptionist and a kind young man were eager to help my poor family. For this, I will forever be grateful for their kindness. They didnt even ask for a dime. Cant beat southern hospitality.

Absoultely the worst rental car company in the state of NC. Cars smell like sour milk and raw sewage. Not to mention I was given a rental that had NO OIL in it and I was being blamed. Staff members get treated like slaves. The boss is a joke and very unprofessional. I will never rent a car from this lousy place again.
