This is the first time I have ever taken a laptop for repair. Alex was great. First I called a couple places I found online to see who seemed like they would be able to help me the best. If you are particular about having your data recovered locally and not having your device shipped to some far off place, then this is the place to go. More upfront, honest service and a better quote and price than the other place. I procrastinated a few months in posting a review but that lets me say all my data is still there and their work still stands. I think the only thing they cant do is beat B&H on the price of a new hard drive to host the recovered data, but even at that their quote on that was fair. Of course every case is different, but if your data can be recovered it will happen here.

My total bill ended up being ~$290 for swapping out the hard drive. Very professional and helpful and convenient. I have used them twice, once for an external drive recovery and more recently for optical (SuperDrive) replacement. Fortunately, they are thorough and found my main hard disk was deteriorating rapidly. They replaced it and performed a clean system install. Prices and responsiveness were all very good. Time needed was longer than I would have liked but still very good considering the extra work needed to fix unanticipated problems and test thoroughly before handing the computer back. On my first visit, AVCR not only corrected the problem, but also recommended and added fixes to my software configuration unrelated to the underlying problem and which made my computer more efficient. I am a fairly technically-minded, do-it-yourselfer type customer but in the spirit of comparative advantage, wanted a pro to take apart my iMac and replace the mechanical HD with a SSD. I had done this job myself in the past and I knew that it would take patience and care since Apple makes it hard to operate on the guts of their enclosed designs. Alex did a terrific job with the install. More importantly, he consulted with me to understand my objectives and helped me make a better hardware choice than I would have made on my own and also made a better software configuration recommendation than I would have made on my own. And he did it in a way that was classy and non-confrontational. Technical wizards usually lack empathy and consulting skills - Alex has these in spades.

This is the second time Ive used AVCR. I had practically given up my 3 year old HP laptop for dead. It was running extremely slow and often couldnt re-connect to the internet upon startup. Not only did Alex bring it back to life, its up and running with lightening speed. He added memory, cleaned up malware, removed other extraneous software and changed me to a different browser and security software. Ive followed up with several questions via email which are always answered very promptly. My laptop is better than new. Highly recommend.

1st review Ive ever written for the first service thats ever deserved it.The hard drive with our media collection and entire photo library died completely during the holidays. It was my fault for not backing everything up to another drive but I had no idea how complicated the recovery process for a striped raid would be.The geek squad quoted a repair cost roughly equal to the pricetag of a constitution class federation starship. I went straight to the top of the list of alternatives and thats where I met Alex. Just as professional and thorough as all the other reviews have said, Alex treated my data crisis like more than just another ticket waiting to be resolved. Dealing with a person face to face always wins over an out of state call center from a big box store and in Alexs case, hes as personable and reassuring as youd want from any true professional.His prices were fair and the results were beyond satisfactory. Id gladly recommend him for timely repair services, honest consultations, and just about any tech concerns you might have.

I experienced a hard drive failure on an 18-month old computer just after moving to the local area. I didnt have anyone on which I could depend for a recommendation, so I turned to Google and Yelp. I couldnt agree more with AVCRs five-star rating. Alex is extremely professional and willing to explain in detail both the issues and the proposed remedies. He was very upfront with estimates and pricing which is much appreciated. Not only did he see me the same day that I called, he got my computer turned around quickly to meet my work/commute schedule. He also suggested that I contact my credit card company to see if they offered an extended warranty beyond the initial 12-month warranty offered by the manufacturer. I got a message this weekend that my credit card company will reimburse me for the diagnostics and repair conducted by AVCR. I probably would not have opened a claim without his prompting. Hopefully, I wont need his services in the future, but if I do, this is the first and only place I will go!

For over 3 years now I am a very satisfied customer of AVCR.I dont have any complaint at all about their services.AVCR deal with their customers professionally and with a personal touch. The AVCR does service/repair to your laptop/computer with utmost care as if it is their own. When AVCR remove malware from your laptop/computer they just dont get rid of the problem but they also best secure the system against future attacks.What I like with AVCR is that Alex would tell you if it is worth to repair your laptop/computer or you need to buy a new one. For the repair of my laptop, I fully trust AVCR. So for laptop/computer repair I highly recommend AVCR.

I appreciated my experience with this company. I was in the Washington, D.C. area for a family emergency. Alexander and his associates literally saved me by recovering all my data from a broken USB flash drive. My other USB was in my other home in Massachusetts and I knew I wouldnt have access to it for at least two weeks. I was approaching the final chapter of the dissertation. Moving forward, Alexander provided useful advice on other methods to use for backup aside from USBs and Google Docs. For issues relating to my case, so many businesses both large and small typically send the broken computer/flash drive device to another facility outside the DMV area. I appreciate having the experience of knowing who was fixing my USB and having the opportunity to ask follow up questions, getting prompt responses, honest and explicit process for recovering my data. I highly recommend people to refer to this company for any computer or data recovery issues.

I had what I thought was a Hard-drive failure but turned out to be something less. They could have easily charged me for a hard-drive replacement and I would have never known but they were honest, upfront and repaired my MacBook Pro inexpensively. If you are thinking about sending you’re out of warranty Apple item to the Apple Store or bringing it to AVCR, its a no-brainer...bring it to AVCR.Don’t mistake ‘in-home business’ as an excuse not to use AVCR because they are the gold standard for computer repair. Don’t take my word look them up in Yelp because I’ve never seen a higher rating from so many people in Yelp.

Alexander and his team are amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone with computer problems!When my desktop started crashing, leaving me with the BSOD, I did everything I knew of to fix it. The problems snowballed quickly to the point my system would crash after only a few minutes. I could not run a full virus scan, it would not allow me to do a clean install of windows, or use the backup I had on my external HD. He removed all traces of infection, saved ALL my data on both my PC and my external HD, and kept me up to date throughout the entire process.Right now I am running my system and it is functioning better than it has in a long time - and it’s still short two memory modules.
