Expensive and trying to take more money from you!!!! Had them change my oil for the first time and was told I had an engine leak but it would cost more to fix it. I told them I would take it to the dealer because I have a warranty on the engine. The dealer kept my car for a week to let me know that they found nothing. Im thinking Pham was trying to get more money from me. On top of that they charged me $40 in CASH to plug my tire. Ive never heard of a company charging cash for a tire plug but accepting my charge card for everything else. After posting this review, I spoke with T. She apologized and was very pleasant to me over the phone. She even offered for me to bring my car back to show me the engine leak. After her brother explained where the leak was I called the Hyundai dealership and told them where the leak was located. They were able to look at the splash part and find the leak. I stand corrected on the oil leak with my car. Thank you Phams.
My car wouldn’t start so I took it to Pham’s and they told me I needed a new battery and ignition coil. It was done and ready the same day before closing at 4pm. Great service, efficient and done in a timely manner. Thanks to Thy and family !
If your looking for an honest and reliable car shop to fix or inspect your car, I highly recommend supporting their small family business.
My car has had a few issues over the past 2 years: an oil leak, coolant leak, and a broken rim. Ive taken it to Phams for every repair and will continue to use them for future services. Theyve fixed everything in a timely manner and are always helpful and communicative. Their prices are very reasonable and better than some nearby competitors.
Phams is by far the best automotive repair shop I have ever used. They have worked on every car (more than ten cars) over 30 years, all with excellent results, They are honest and highly skilled and very reasonably priced. I have recommended Phams to many, many people. Do yourself a favor and stop looking for good mechanics - this includes for new and used cars. Once you try Phams, you will never use another auto repair service!
Ive been to Phams a few times now, and I love that theyre a small, family-owned business. Theyre efficient, effective and honest. I appreciate their integrity and honesty the most since Im no car guru myself. I had one of my headlights go out on my Subaru Outback, which is a more complicated fix than for many other vehicles (which I did know in advance). Phams gave me the price in advance, and it felt fair since the labor was difficult. After replacing my headlight, the woman at the front desk told me that the labor was actually easier than expected and therefore charged me only half of the original price. They could have mentioned nothing and taken my money, and I wouldnt have known. But they took the high road and were transparent with me, a quality that I seek out in an auto repair shop. If youre looking for a shop you can trust, this is it.
I have my virginia safety check here. First thing in the morning. It only take 5-10 min and i am done. Important to bring CASH for it! I am glad i read some review and they mentioned it. Usually i dont hv cash with me.
Great service, good prices!
My experience at Phams was amazing. They made it so easy to get an inspection. They were also super friendly and easy to talk to and honest. They were able to take my car immediately. I was in and out in 10 minutes. Ill definitely return for other services.
Went there Saturday morning for inspection. The workers were very nice and my car was done in about 5 minutes. Great service!
Good service fair prices.
A great shop
Love these guys. Ive been taking my 2004 Mazda 3 there for 6 years now. The reason is they are honest. They would never try to scam you like so many mechanics in this area do. The quality of work and friendly atmosphere at the shop is also fantastic. Also their prices are super low!
Best mechanics in the business! Ive been a happy customer for over 15 years. Theyve kept all of my cars running like new and they can fix anything. Honda, Jeep, Mercedes, Toyota. My Honda has almost 200k miles and runs great. Family business... extremely honest, great people, great location in Arlington, Va.
An extremely transparent and honest family runs this place. I took my car to get a state inspection at a separate shop down the road and they quoted me over a grand to pass inspection. Not only did Pham’s ask me questions to ensure they were in compliance with the laws, they also talked me through each necessary repair to pass inspection. Additionally, they recommended optional repairs for no additional labor charge since they were already incurring labor. They truly try to keep the price reasonable. Not only did they do more work than the first shop quoted me at, but they charged less. Fantastic service! I will be a regular here!
Very friendly family owned business.
I was really impressed with the service I received from here: efficient, honest and friendly; and they were careful to explain exactly (and patiently!) what was wrong with our (very old) Lexus and what needed to be done. I compared prices and services with three other local repair shops before we went ahead with the work and I am totally happy with what was offered here. They were all also incredibly sweet with my 13-month-old daughter, bringing out toys for her to play with whilst we waited. A great family business, highly recommended.
In and out like a breeze. Super friendly people and great service. An absolutely awesome experience. Thank you!!!
I found them to be quick and honest. They know their business. Charges are reasonable. Not the friendliest but pleasant enough.
Called at 8am on Saturday and asked about an oil change. Gentleman on the phone said no problem, there’s no wait, but be sure to get here before 9:30 because they close at 10am on Saturdays. Ok, weird, but ok. I ask what the cost will be. He says $20.I drive as quickly as I can, before 9:30, park, walk in, all ready for the oil change I called about just moments earlier. The guy isn’t at the front desk, he’s watching something off to the side. I wait. He finally notices me, walks up and says “...by the way we only take cash.” UM, that would have been a valuable thing to tell me on the phone!! “Do you have an ATM?” “There’s a Giant up the road... sorry haha”I left. If you’re going to be all cash in 2020 a.d. and not have an ATM, at LEAST be fourth coming with that information. Also, why even bother even being open for just two hours on Saturday?I went to Annandale Auto Repair. It cost less, their hours are better, they’re actually friendly on the phone, and they take cards.
Nice little automotive garage. They are very nice and seem very honest
I visited Pham’s today for an emissions test. Super quick and great service. It also helped that while waiting for my car the Pham’s were super cheery and fun to chat with. I would definitely recommend them and will be using them for all of my car servicing needs!
I still drive to Phams for car repairs after moving 30 minutes away.I needed to get some car work done and received a quote for 1500 from the dealership. Phams was able to do the work for a fraction of that, complete the work in less than a day, and do a few additional fixes. The work was well done and my car is running fine.
Friendly guys doing your work in minutes
My experience was magnificent. the front office manager was very polite and very knowledgeable of her responsibilities and the service or mechanic walked me through what was expected to pass inspection. and most of all i was in and out very speedy process. i highly recommend Phams Car Care for all your auto needs.
Everyone is very nice. Very fast on the state and emission inspection! You have to pay cash though.
Pham Car Care has been the place for my car needs for over 20 years. The family run business makes you feel welcome, while taking care of all your needs. The level of knowledge, skills and quality service is superior to other car repair shops. The pricing is best in the area. Youll love the shop and family working there.
Really quick service and very nice family run place!
They are quick in service, but not very customer friendky
Although a small shop compared to the mega dealer stores, Phams is spotlessly clean, organized and friendly all at once. It is a community shop that has great service and customer support. I was very pleased with their honesty and forthrightness in dealing with my issues; and I am not an easy custome.
You definitely need to take your vehicle here! They are a family run business you can trust. I had a couple issues with my SUV that I had to have fixed so I could register my SUV in Virginia. I had a slow gas leak that was keeping my engine light on and wouldnt let me pass inspection unless fixed. They started off trying to fix the issue by replacing the gas cap hoping that would solve the problem and I would leave out of their with not to much damage to my wallet. Unfortunately that didnt solve the issue, and they had to proceed with a full test to find where the gas leak was coming from. For me though it was nice to know they tried to diagnose the problem on the inexpensive side first before proceeding with the full blown test. After doing the test they were able to find the gas leak and they fixed it right away. They also cut me a break on the labor charge since it was going to cost me more then they I initially expectedWhile they had my car they noticed that the battery was very low and the terminals were corroded. They asked me if I wanted to replace the battery and I said sure, and in the processes they noticed I had a ground wire that wasnt connected correctly and they fixed it FREE of charge. What happen next would wind up saving me a ton of money in the long run.I had a side issue that my odometer wasnt working and I had told Thy that I had gotten quotes from another auto service company where I used to live that they would have to replace the whole instrument cluster display and have to keep my SUV for several days because they would have to remove the current instrument display, return it to the dealer and replace it with a new one. Which they explained was a policy to prevent odometer fraud, and would have cost me about $500.Well to my delight when Phams fixed the ground wire my odometer reading was fixed and I found out for the first time what the actual mileage was on my SUV. This was AWESOME because now I wouldnt have to register my vehicle in Virginia not knowing what the actual mileage which is permanent once they enter it into the database at the VA DMV,This simple fix and great detective work by Phams would definitely help with the resell value when ever I sell my SUV in the future. You would think the great service stopped there, but it didnt. I had rented a car for a day in anticipation of my SUV having to be there at least a day or two.Well, I had my rent a car towed the night before and Thy felt so bad that she let me borrow her own vehicle until the car was fixed so that wouldnt happen to me again.Overall my experience at Phams was wonderful! They treated me like part of their family in more ways than one :) and they communicated with me very thoroughly every step of the way until I was satisfied with the results.I would recommend bringing your vehicle to Phams for anything you need done. They are certainly well qualified and well versed in delivery exceptional customer service!
A great family owned business. Excellent customer service and exceptional car care for any of your auto repair needs. Highly recommend this mom & pop shop.
The owners were very friendly. I had gone in for an emissions inspection. They took less than 15-20 mins to get it done. Although this was my first time, I am going to make this my go to place here in the Arlington area. Highly recommended.P.S. I had called before going and was informed that its first come first serve. Also told to bring cash. Not sure if this is cash only or just for the emissions test. Either ways it doesnt really matter to me. Ill just carry cash.
I gave my first one star review and dedicated to write this long comment because I was really astonished by their service and felt cheated. Here are what happened.1. They said that my front lights were worn out, they were right, but they insisted that I had to change them not fix them and charge me ~$350 for those, where another place basically polished them and charged me $90 for both.2. The safety warning keeps alarmed (they were right about that too), but they said it could be problem of the airbag, and their check, that move alone took $150, and theyll tell me how much more Ill have to pay after that check. Well, the other place identified the problem with 0 charges and it was only the problem of the safe belt detector.3. And last not the least, I went there to ask whether I should take an inspection to this vehicle to get the registration, it was March and my first time having a car so I knew I had to register it with inspection but little knowledge about how. And they said that I have to do the inspection. And after inspection they put the above problems on the table saying if I dont do it theyll not pass my inspection. But later, I found the inspection ticket on front window and it clearly suggested that the expired date was four months after!!! They were taking care of that car for at least 1 hour and I cannot imagine how these professionals did not notice the first thing before putting efforts, was it necessary? After all, you could argue they were going for my safety, but I wouldnt appreciate these excuses for their carelessness or unprofessionalism, or their greed. Well they get the location advantage by sitting next to DMV, but I will never go there and suggest you take a second thought.
Ive been going to Phams for 12 years. After seeing some of these posts I thought Id add my $.02. I started going to Phams because I had a brake issue, called around, and not only were they the cheapest, they also were the only shop that promised to same day service (it was late in the day). Ive never been overcharged, and never had to go back for a re-fix. Over the years they have saved me $1000s on issues ranging from AC to electrical (according to my dealer, I had an electrical issue but Phams researched the problem and suggested I try getting a new key- I returned to the dealer, and that was the $150 solution to my $1000 problem the dealer was going to charge me). There is a reason Phams has so many repeat customers.
Speedy and Honest service. Very personable staff.
Wonderful! Clean, pleasant reception area and decent prices. Comfy chairs and air conditioning. Not only did they do the TNC Inspection for ride-sharing cars quickly (Uber Code for first time riders is 6L786), but the young man told me about a problem that had nothing to do with the inspection. WITHOUT A HARD SELL TO FIX IT THERE! Of course Im bringing it back to him!
Ive been using Phams since 1996. They get all my business - I trust them completely. Id send my parents to Phams if they lived here. Great family-owned business.
I have been a customer here for over 10 years. The Pham family treats us like family and they ALWAY provide the best service and recommendations. They are knowledgeable, timely, and attentive to details. They are the best!
You definitely need to take your vehicle here! They are a family run business you can trust. I had a couple issues with my SUV that I had to have fixed so I could register my SUV in Virginia. Fantastic service, very friendly, and the best price Ive ever received for similar services. Highly recommend.
OUTSTANDING PLACE! I was reffered to this business form a customer of mine. I had them do work on my car twice. Both times not only did they fix my car right the first time. They recommended that I did not need to do work that a dealership recommended. It saved me a lot of money! If you want someone to take good care of your car and not your wallet, then I strongly suggest you go to PHAM S Car Care Center
Id like to echo all the comments given here. The atmosphere, service, and transparency in Phams Car Care Center are unmatched (at least in the Arlington, VA area).
I moved into Clarendon about 9 years ago, 2 houses and 3 cars later I still only trust my car to Phams. Theyve been flexible to help me pick the right solution for all my car woes and are quick so I can get back on the road...Really, I would not pick another place for my car.Mike BarnesOwner, Cowboy Cafe & Lost Dog Cafe (South Arlington, McLean, Dunn Lo)
I drive a BMW 330i (ZHP), and its very hard to find a reliable shop that knows my car inside out. Ive used a few so-called BMW experts in the past, but the service was below my expectations. My BMW had a faulty headlamp ballast that I couldnt fix myself. I had a good experience with Phams last year when they fixed my Honda, so I decided to take my BMW in for a quick consultation. I was pleasantly surprised at Michaels knowledge of my car, and his assessment of the problem was right on.Now I did end up spending a little more than I had expected, but you have to understand that not all mechanics out there are trying to get your money. If a mechanic recommends a preventive maintenance or repair, its mostly in your cars best interests, you have to use your own judgement with each shop though. In my case, although the problem was specifically with the ballast, Michael also recommended that I replace two other corroded parts. I was happy to spend the extra money now as it would save me the time, money and headache to replace the entire headlamp assembly in the future.Michael and Thy took excellent care of my BMW! They run a fair and efficient small shop and have never tried to have me spend more than necessary to properly maintain my car(s). I know Ill never return to a BMW stealership for service as long as Im in the area.
Nail in tire, honest and friendly plugged the sucker and got me back on the road in 10 minutes. Painless.
The service is quickly
The best service, price and honest answers. I wouldnt trust my ride with anyone else!
My wheel hubNeed to be replacedAnd they checked it for 58 secondsWish they charge me $56 dollers forThen charged me $598 dollers to get it fixed.Really rude !...talking to you like your stupid and expecting you yo be a expart in your car.
Family owned business, I enjoyed waiting for my car to be serviced.
Ive been going to Phams since 1995. Theyve serviced my Toyota Corolla, VW Cabio (aka the Money Pit), and my Mini Cooper. They are honest and very reasonable. For instance, they will only charge for the actual labor vs. the labor for each item fixed. When I bought the Money Pit used from Koons Ford in Tysons, I had Pham look over the car. He found three things that hed have failed its inspection (including very unsafe brakes). He even put it up on the lift to show me the rusted out exhaust system. Koons had had it inspected a week before. I took it back to Koons demanding they pay for the items to be fixed by Phams and gave them Phams estimate. Koons insisted their guy (aka the one who passed a failing cars inspection) was cheaper. I had to agree...two hours later Koons called me saying the car was being towed to Phams b/c he was actually cheaper than their guy.Another time I was bragging about how great my mechanic was...a friend chimed in saying she had a fab mechanic. It was Phams. Of course.
Took car right away. Comfortable waiting area w/h20 cooler.
Quick and easy inspection and emissions test.
Nice family operation.
The lady boss there was very rude. I will never go there again and will not recommend. They don’t accept credit card.
Went in for an emissions test - quick, easy, and professional
Honest, trustworthy and know their stuff.
Very fast, great and friendly service.
Car inspection and emissions testing - first come first serve, very friendly folks.
