Good place. Nice staff.

The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming (on the days I go). The gym is much smaller conspired to Ames and other areas, hence the 3 stars. It is hard to navigate the gym with limited room when its crowded and this prolongs the stay. Something I personally dont enjoy.

When I asked if I could store something valuable behind the counter Kiley, the front desk person said its not our problem, you signed a waiver. Then proceeded to laugh at the customers. When I asked to cancel they said fine but you have to pay for another month. This gym is a joke, even their District Director hung up on me and refused to help, his name is Lou. I recommend you find somewhere that cares about their members. Also very dirty and limited equipment. Caution!8/17/21: it wont let me reply to your response so I figured I would edit my original review. Its worth noting that I was speaking to the district director as he put it. I asked to escalate to corporate or his boss, and he said he didnt have a boss. So your email below is a meaningless show for purposes of saving face on google. I already attempted to resolve above the club level and was promptly shut down.

I entered the place and I felt strong already. They have an affordable price, pretty people, cool machines and free water.

Everyone that works here is really professional and the quality of the gym is really nice. Personally I like the Ankeny location the best. All of the locations are always clean when I go. The staff are helpful if you have questions. I usually always see them helping someone. Great place to workout and a great company to do business with.

I really love the atmosphere here. Ive always been embarrassed working out in front of other people but they truly have a judgment free zone here. They also have so many different machines and things to do that I never do the same workout twice.

The Black Card membership is so affordable plus you get the extras (tanning, water massage, etc) - plus you can bring a friend for free! I love the Ankeny location the best. Employees are knowledgeable and kind. It is always very clean. Everyone social distances well!

Usually I love the staff and have no problems at any Planet Fitness gyms but one of the staff members has a terrible attitude and is beyond rude. I had a terrible experience and honestly am discontinuing my membership, I’m not going to the gym to deal with somebody else’s problems and I’m not going to support a gym that hires fat & rude employees.

Was able to work out on my white card till things got straight for my black card. The young lady was Awsome!!

The staff are so helpful and friendly. I don’t feel weird asking questions. I love that the equipment is all newer. The hydro massage after a workout is very relaxing. The locker rooms are kept clean and sanitized. If you want to tan while you are there, the beds are nice too!

I suspended my membership in December due to covid, and was told I only needed to call in March to suspend for a longer period of time. I was asked why I needed to suspend and I said mostly due to covid but also due to recent surgery. I was told that they no longer suspend for covid, and to suspend for surgery, I would need a doctors note. I said I would need to go to my doctors office 20+ miles away to get a note, and Im not doing that, I have belonged to other much nicer gyms who didnt require such documentation. It would be easier to show them my incisions! After arguing about the hassle, I said that I just wanted to cancel, and was told I would need to come in person or send a letter. Why was no communication sent to members who had suspended their accounts due to covid, that they were no longer suspending due to covid (or any other reason without ridiculous documentation)? I will never, EVER darken the doors of this place again, nor recommend them, and will caution others to think twice about joining them. No contract & cancel any time? Sure, not so easy. Dont waste your time here. Legacy Fitness, here I come!!

I cancelled my membership and was charged anyway, they refused to return what was erroneously charged. This company is unprofessional and a ripoff.

By far the best of all in the metro area. Clean. And not over crowded, even during the busiest times.

Management staff rude and unhelpful. My recommendation would be to find another Planet Fitness to workout at or a different gym altogether.

Great staff, clean place with plenty of equipment to use, never have to wait to get on equipment and the water massage is out of this world.

Used to be a lifetime member for 3 years and found out that this planet fitness is open 24-5 which is exactly what i needed and lifetime was not open at 2am when i needed to go before work. Workers are great even at all hours of the time equipment is always clean and in good shape. Only thing i wish they had was a row machine!! Keep up the great work!!

I really like this gym, and the fact I don’t feel judged when I walk in. I wish they had another location in Ankeny because only one it’s so busy!! But there’s enough equipment and friendly atmosphere.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff, clean facility, and great equipment! Even in peak hours Ive never had trouble getting to a machine I need. The ability to sign in and track your cardio workouts is great, too!

I can set my own schedule. And theres staff to help with any questions. The equipment is is well maintained and clean. Totally enjoying my workouts.

I love Planet Fitness! Staff is friendly and welcoming, and it truly is a “ no judgement zone”. I like the layout — it’s easy to use the equipment with the different stations. And the massage chairs and HydroMassage equipment are amazing!!

The atmosphere at planet fitness is very positive and welcoming. We are greeted when we come in and they always say see you next time or have a great rest of your day when you leave. There is always someone behind or by the desk which is nice if you have questions or need help with something. We came from a gym that there was never anyone at the desk and the vibes weren’t friendly or positive. Planet fitness is a great change for us and we actually look forward to going to the gym.

Garbage service for garbage people

As a truck driver that tries to keep in pretty good shape, this place is perfect. Locations are in most metro areas with large parking lots that I can get in n out relatively easy and havent had any complaints yet. Cant beat the price for a 24 hr gym.

This facility has plenty of equipment - the variety and availability is so nice. The hours they are open as well as all the class options make this an easy choice when deciding on a gym! The perks are nice too and the price cant be beat!

Planet Fitness is overall a great place to have a membership. It is very affordable and there is a variety of equipment for all styles of fitness. This location has a friendly staff and it is always kept clean. Also a great place to go because there are always staff members available to answer your questions and they wont make you feel insecure about not knowing how to use some of the equipment available.

I knew of Planet Fitness but never joined. Was opinionated about the set up. Recently I joined up on the Black Card and I am very happy. This facility in Ankeny is clean and set up well. I was really surprised.I rated four stars only because of staff attitude. It is a judge free zone however there are several employees that are abrasive to deal with. Almost like they are super serious and better than others. I am not a fan.

Awesome staff and choices of equipment. Clean facility, friendly and helpful staff. Only complaint is no spin bikes. Only bikes are for strictly seated workouts🙃

This is a location with the cardio machines that require a sign in, so as a visiting member cardio machines are out of the question. Past that an ok club.

I love this place, not only is it affordable but its sensible too. You can get one on one training set up, if your a night owl the weekdays are your jam for a workout. The staff gladly helps and answers questions. They have a wide range of equipment, and the spa(if you get the black card membership) is bomb!

GREAT PLACE!!!!I really love coming here! Its very clean & MOST of the people are very good about cleaning the machines when they are done using them. Im a germ freak so its super important to me that people clean their nasty sweat & germs off when they finish. However, you see the employees always cleaning the equipment all the time. Plus, you can always clean them before & after you use them. Everyone is always friendly, but also nobody bothers you either if you dont like that.

If youre going to cancel membership do it way before your payment will come out and it must be in person or writing.

Quite the bargain for $10/$22 a month memberships. Lots of cardio equipment, decent weight machines and free weights. The locker rooms are clean, well kept and spacious. The amenities for the Black Card members are quite nice also (tanning, massage chairs, etc.).

There are people of all sizes in their and they dont look at you like you are out of place like most gyms do. We are all there for some reason. The staff is very friendly and the facility is very clean. Top notch equipment and very affordable.

I wish they would stay open at 4am more consistently.

I joined Plant Fitness in Ankeny about a month ago. What a great place. All machines are always in working order, and the place is always VERY clean. Seriously, every time I’m in there I see people cleaning. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place!

Gym is very nice and not very busy which is awesome compared to other gyms in the area. The evening staff is super friendly but a couple of the morning staff seem inconvenienced if you ask for something.EDIT: There is a new front desk girl that works early mornings and she is much nicer! :)

Low key place. Wasn’t a good fit for me, but probably Good for beginners and it was nice to not be crowded with other members. Very clean. Staff is friendly if you ask for help.

I dont want to give any stars.I moved to Ankeny and came in to transfer my membership this past summer, either July or August and the staff member asked me to transfer my membership on their tablet. The tablet was not working so the staff member told me she would do the transfer on her computer. She gave me a new keytag and told me to go work out.I kept working out at the Ankeny club all summer and this fall. They have a bank of tvs and every time I went, half of them were out of service.I went to work out a week ago and a young blond girl working there told me I couldnt work out because I had the wrong membership. We went back and forth about the transfer until she learned I had a keytag that worked for the club, then she believed me. She said she would leave a message for her manager to fix it. I worked out and it was fine.Tonight I went in and this same young blond told me I cant work out again and that I had to come back when her manager was in from 9-5. I told her I work during the day which is why I was going to work out at 8pm. She said I could call and it would take 5 minutes. WHY WAS THIS NOT FIXED WHEN SHE SUPPOSEDLY LEFT A MESSAGE FOR HER MANAGER LAST WEEK??She reported she didnt know how to fix this and to call her manager. WHY ARE THE STAFF NOT TRAINED TO PROBLEM SOLVE? She simply told me I couldnt work out and asked me to leave.I AM PAYING FOR A MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP AND SHOULD BE ABLE TO WORK OUT. THIS IS NOT RIGHT! FIX IT!

Hours are the worst need to be open 24/7

Signed up in the beginning if the year with an offer that included a free T-shirt. After asking 6 times with them not having my size I was told they are no longer giving them away. However I hold up my part any pay the money I owe them every month. I wish this business would follow through on theirs.

Love this gym, my only complaints would be the wannabe Meatheads who take forever on any machine and sometimes take up two at a time or the people who dont clean off their stuff when they finish.

This location is not 24 hrs....

I have the basic membership and I can do everything I need to. My only issues revolve around the locker room. Shower curtains are small and could be bigger to cover the whole opening. As someone who was in the military I’m used to showering in open spaces without curtains and personally I would prefer not to continue such practice. There is only one hair dryer and I was down for over a week. Something about the electrician didn’t mark the breaker box so they were waiting on this and then a fix. It would’ve been nice to have an additional dryer or a spare brought in. A second is also needed in general at the time I’m getting ready. Friendly staff!

First gym I’ve ever joined. Good experience, lots of machines for both cardio and strength. Nice employees. Get the black for unlimited guest pass if you’re a couple. My wife and I ended up getting black cards each to use the hydromassage beds after as many workouts as time allows. Feels great!!

A great place to exercise. Clean, friendly, excellent equipment, LOTS of space to spread out. My last gym was small and cramped, it felt like we were sharing sweat!

It’s a great facility. The only thing is the women’s showers the curtains need to be bigger (wider) and the small dressing room needs a bench instead of a tall stool.

Great after they finally fixed the tvs that were burnt out, never go Monday-Wednesday its completely busy all day, gets really hot and people dont space themselves out on cardio equipment. If you go later in the week(thur-sun) its tolerable. I do have to say though, as soon as Ashley started working there, things started to run a lot more smoothly and efficiently :)

I travel all over the U.S. and stop at a planet fitness almost everyday, and this planet fitness is the first one that I have to carry my membership card with me so I can get on the treadmill. I carry my phone for music, earbuds to hear the music, and water bottle to drink water, and now my member card? Not convenient for me. Plus I found the mens locker room needed more attention for cleaning.

I love the set up & the cost to have the Black Card. The billing got messed up somehow & I ended up having to pay an extra $10 fee which I wasnt happy with. The staff is great & locker rooms are clean.
