Therapists are great, but front end and management are horrible. Canceling appointments and rescheduling after confirming. Had an agreement to use last of time one day after last day of service, because of a rescheduling issue on their end. No communication till the day before, the one who scheduled me was the one called said I couldnt have the appointment without paying for another month of service to keep the remaining time that I had available to use. She was very rude and wasnt the 1st time she wa that way. She told me that I will get a call from a manager 24-48 hours and here it is more than 5 days later still without a call.

My first trip to massage heights was everything I hoped for, I nearly fell asleep during my 60 minute massage. I liked it so much I even signed up for a membership before leaving. I can’t wait to experience more peaceful moments at massage heights.
My massage was canceled from extenuating circumstances, sad, HOWEVER Manager Christina was AMAZING! She checked multiple locations, different days and times and ended up being able to schedule me with another therapist! I am SO thankful for her time and effort! They really do care about their clients!!!!!
Two appointments, sent out confirmation the day before and then they called to cancel 1.5 hour before the appointment. TWICE!
The massage therapist was good BUT if you pay for a 60 minute massage, it should be 60 minutes, not 40. 😔
A month ago we scheduled 3 massages for a family celebration. At the last minute Massage Heights called to cancel one of the massages even after we received confirmations for our appointments.There was no attempt to reschedule for the three of us.Do not count on this business to follow through on scheduled appointments.
I went in for a facial and the aesthetician was so wosnerful, professional, and communicated well with the product that she was using on my face! I will go back to her because I felt a change on the inside and outside of my face!!
I have a newer membership here and I am loving it. You can pick a variety of massage therapists and if you find one that suits you then you can just keep scheduling with them. Very relaxing and professional.
Since Astrid for massage and Chris for facial left l, my wife, my mother-in-law, and I have tried many other therapists who work there, and its been unfortunately very disappointing. We have massages to use up and after that, unless some quality therapists get hired, were not coming back. By the looks of these one star reviews, massage heights needs to up their game; otherwise, I have a bad feeling the business may suffer.

I booked back to back 60 minute massages for 2 people. The massage was pretty terrible. I feel like it was a complete waste of money but more important a waste of our time. I feel like someone rubbed oil on me for two hours. We both had the same person do our massage and we both feel the same. This is definitely not worth it. You guys need to start giving people a refund of 75% off for their next massage if you want a shot at their business again.
So disappointed. I was seeking cupping therapy for my boyfriend and on the phone, I was told I could just receive that service. When I went to pick up the gift card, I was told I had to buy a massage and the cupping was an add on. Okay, fine, so I bought the 1 hour message and the add on Of cupping therapy. When my boyfriend went to get the service. He arrived 15 min early, like requested but didn’t go into the room until 10 minutes after his massage was supposed to start. The massage was less than 50 min and then the therapist told him that she didn’t know about the cupping so she didn’t provide it. So he didn’t get the service that he wanted. I called and talked with the assistant manager the next day and and she said that she had to consult with someone else and they would get back to me. I haven’t heard back and now to use the cupping service that I had paid for, I have to buy any other massage and give this place more money. I will never refer anyone here.
Best facial around!!! Kris is phenomenal. I was never one to get facials, but after seeing her I must go every few weeks! She provides a customized regimen, makes sure you understand each product and why to use it and answers any and all questions you have. I leave glowing each time! She’s also kind, caring and a joy to be around. Go see Kris!!!

My appointment was for 6pm. I arrived 15 minutes early so I could fill out their paperwork. The therapist didn’t get me until 8 minutes after my scheduled massage, and didn’t start my massage until 6:15. Then ended my massage early at 6:55. I understand their 5 min of consultation and 5 minutes of redress time, but the therapist literally cut my massage by ten minutes even when I was on time.There were two other customers waiting in the waiting room with me. They were seen before me, and they checked out after me.There are other places around Ankeny for the same price with therapists who actually take care and value their clients. So much for trying somewhere new!
I have been a member for 1 year. I am not new to massage/facials as I have been getting massages my entire life. I would say that my total experiences (12+) over the last year or so maybe 4 have been enjoyable. A 1 hour massage is maybe 45 minutes. There is a high turnover rate of therapist so once you find one that actually is good they seem to be gone the next month. The staff upfront are always welcoming but look as though they do not bathe frequently. No one has ever helped me find products or explained the ones I show interest in buying. Half the time my massage would be scheduled with one therapist and then i would come and I would be with someone else. Staff does not seem to be enthusiastic about their jobs and management has never followed up with me about concerns I have raised. I once had a therapist adjust my neck like a chiropractor. I then had to be go to physical therapy to fix the damage. Dont be fooled by the lower cost for a membership. Pay a little more and go somewhere that actually provides good service!
Great Therapist, great massage
This was the first time Ive ever gotten a massage and it was amazing. The lobby smells so good and is very clean. The chairs are so comfortable. Nikki did my massage and it was great. She let me ask questions and helped me get an idea of what to expect before we even started. I have not felt this relaxed in a long time. The only thing I disliked was how fast the hour went by.
This was such a disappointing experience for my friend and me. The rooms were lovely and the waiting room was classy, but that is all that I can was positive. When I called to make the appointment, it was for a special occasion for my best friend (and I joined in), I asked for a 2-hour massage AND a 1-hour facial. The massage was only 1 3/4 hour, not 2. Even worse, they did not provide us with the scheduled facial. When I pointed that out at the end I was told, maam you didnt schedule that. Which is bull**** because I made the appointment while I was with my friend and I was given a verbal confirmation from the salon while on the phone. I am so seriously disappointed. I could have gotten a wonderful have at 1/2 the price right down the road. The ONLY reason I chose this location was so that we have a full spa day which was to include the facial. To top it off, no one offered us ANY solutions to the incredibly disappointing experience. I thought for sure that would have provided a discount (since I paid over $200 on our massages) or offered us a voucher to come back for the facial that they fail to provide to us. They are extremely expensive, and given the incredibly horrific customer service, I would strongly encourage others to avoid this place as well.
Ive been going to this place for years. Always great customer service, always a great experience. Definitely worth getting the membership for this kind of stress relief and detox. Membership benefits and flexible. I highly recommend Kathy Joynt from the Ames, Iowa location!
When becoming a member I asked if monthly receipts could be printed out each month for me to submit to my HSA. The gal said absolutely no problem, they would be ready for me each month. The 1st month I was able to get with only having to ask twice. Ive now asked for Februarys invoice 6 times, Ive been sent several wrong invoices, wrong amounts and wrong dates on them. The Assistant director cant seem to figure out how to make an invoice for the correct amount. Other than that the massage therapist was great, which is why I really didnt want to cancel my membership. Customer service is horrible though!
I will not use any Massage Heights locations again. I called on a Sunday and specifically said My 17 year old daughter is a dancer and needs a massage tomorrow, she booked her appointment, took my credit card information and demographics since she would be a new client and when my daughter drove all the way there she was denied because she is a minor and I would need to be there to sign permission. That was never once mentioned the day before, so thanks for wasting our time. She will use Bella Salon from now on, they got her in immediately.
Waiting on a response from management about canceling a membership was told email would be sent twice by the front desk, then was told management has to do it,asked to get number of someone to call was told that number isnt available . But for 2 months money was taken from my checking account by a business that couldnt be open. I realize it was no fault of their own but the contract was broken all I want is out of it.
Great experience!! Relaxed room, heated bed, and I chose the lavender scent. My back was tight but not anymore. Extra attention given to my neck and shoulder where I needed it.
Deep tissue massage was more like a mouse running down my back. Half a*ssed job and I don’t even think the masseuse knew what she was doing. Will NEVER return. Demanded proper tip multiple times through vocal and signs, which is a huge red flag at any place..
This is a very nice, professional place to get a massage. Facials are good but beware, they will try to sell you expensive products! Which, you can find on Amazon for cheaper. Only issue I have with massages is that they wont schedule at half the hour, which is inconvenient for me.
I didnt get to experience anything here, my problem started with their website request an appointment option. Im from out of town and wanted a massage for my birthday... I thought my first request didnt go through or I even forgot to send one, so I sent another and another and got no calls to set up an appointment. I understand I could call them but if you have the option on your website you should probably call to advance for your business. .
Retreat has gone under new management it seems. It seemed like the staff was much more professional and friendly.. I showed up and was greeted and offered a glass of water, staff did great job of explaining their elevations and different options for becoming a regular client with them. Will be going back and would recommend them to friends.
I had an amazing hot stone massage! So so relaxing! The pressure was perfect, the temperature was perfect, and the room smelled of lavender (the smell I picked!) highly recommend!

Ive been a member for almost a year now and it has been a huge headache rather than a relaxing experience! If you are thinking of becoming a member dont. Ive had double charges debited from my account. Ive had massage therapists not show up and countless other issues.

Worst massage Ive ever had. Price is average but for an hour massage almost half of it is the time to get ready and then dressed afterwards. Only had got about 35 mins of a massage and was from someone who wasnt trained very well. Save your money and find a real masseur.
Wow I am NOT happy. Went in for my appointment and was told it was the wrong day??!! When I scheduled she told me TODAY. So I said well I drove 25 min to get here I want an appointment... Oh I apologize theres nothing I can do. So I said fine cancel my membership... oh I have to have a manager call you?? WHAT??!! My wife and I were excited to opened dual year long memberships to treat ourselves, so far halfway into our membership its been a total letdown. Weve encountered major issues at this location, from breakdowns of communication with staff and management to dealing with last minute cancellations and not being at all notified until we arrive at the location also to find out the employees made mistakes or mislead us. This has happened several times, also dealing with some inadequate billing issues, staff shortages and our biggest problem is getting management involved to resolve these issues, on several occasions our requests to have management respond to our issues have always gone unanswered or ignored. Its unbelievable we both would get the same treatment especially after paying so much.... this also made us wonder how many other guests have received this treatment... so after all this we are definitely counting down the days when our contract is up and going somewhere else.
The staff is really nice. The rates are reasonable, expecially with memebership. I wish message heights offered chiropractic services. I recently switched to another local company because they offered both message and chiropractic in the same building with one monthly rate.

I requested an appointment on their website. Later that afternoon they called. I got an appointment for the very next day. Read through the reviews on here before the appointment. Had a terrible experience. We got there 10 minutes early like they asked, were not called back until 8:15 (appt was at 8). During the couples massage the masseuses talked to each other and to us the entire time. Personally, I do not like to be asked a hundred questions when Im paying to relax. My attendant whispered and told me that my bra was too tight and I should probably get a new one. Rude. And to top it all off, we got to the check out at the end and they told us we had free massages on our accounts- great, dont have to pay for something we didnt enjoy... However, they used the gift cards on our accounts that we had purchased for people as gifts. So they went in for massages and there was no money on the gift cards. Which I also double checked that night to make sure it was not the gift cards I purchased that were being used. All around terrible experience. I have been to the Ames location several times and they are definitely the way to go!
Been a member and return to Ankeny location again and again. Sometimes they are full on weekends if you dont book ahead, but I book now when I leave. I love this place for my monthly relaxation.
NEVER EVER use this place. They have repeatedly screwed up on their booking procedures and billing procedures. I used to be a member, but canceled ( note it took two times of canceling in writing because they lost the first cancellation and tried to continue to charge my credit card) because they never had therapists available and when they did, they would call later and cancel my appointment....on the day of the appointment. So, they expanded, and I decided to give them a second chance......BIG MISTAKE. I purchased a gift card for my husband to get a massage and pre-paid the tip. Guess what, I called back to schedule the massage for him ( they found the gift card on his, personal, account) and they decided they were going to charge me an additional $30.00 for the massage. I refused to pay that and asked for a supervisor. After being on hold for 15 minutes, I used another phone to call in and was finally able to talk to the supervisor. She said she would check into it and call me back by 9 am the next morning. 9 am came and went.....no word. I called back and talked to her, getting excuses about how busy they were (obviously, I was not a priority), but they did agree to honor the price I was told and charged for in December.....WOW, how big of them to keep their original word. I went ahead and booked a massage for him and put my credit card on file for reservation purposes.....ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE. I got a phone call the next day that stated they were charging my credit card because my husband missed his massage???? We called back and they saw that he had a massage scheduled for three days in the future, but that he also had one scheduled for that day. I NEVER SCHEDULED THE MASSAGE FOR THAT DAY. Someone there had made two reservations for his name, and I guess they figured a way around giving me the price they originally quoted, CLEVER. At this point, I want my card refunded for the missed massage that I never scheduled, and I want to return the gift card and have that charge credited back to my bank account. Even if they fix this screw up, I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go back there. I have MS and I am supposed to avoid stress. This place is not worth the hassle. You can find a massage therapist at other local, non-franchised businesses that are way better and treat their customers with respect.
