At first I was quite worry about having Alaska Tax Service do my taxes, after of years with another more well known company, but my worries disappeared after speaking with Sean who explained why it was taking so long to finish and e-File. This guy is a good tax man. This year he was really busy and we showed up for an appt. but he said he was behind. Nevertheless, he made up for it and we got our taxes done in a timely fashion. Ive used him for the last 3 years and have no complaints.

I would of given a -1 if I could. As the ratings were 5star reviews and claiming good service, I decided to give them a try this year. My appointment was set to see Sean and verified for the date and time. Showed up early and filled new client packet. Then was told I was not to be seen until a different Monday. Front receptionist went to ask if someone else was available and so Carter said he had time due to a cancelled appointment. Before entering I explained that I was not doing just a W2 tax, he still insisted he can do it today. As I walked in he seemed on the edge already. As I explained to him what taxes I need to do he demanded documentation that was not needed for the type of tax I was needing to do. He had a rude demeanor and was impatient with me. Stopped me while I was speaking and said an extension was going to be filed because his plate is full and for me to leave and set another appointment. How do you suggest a extension without even seeing my profile and not understanding what I was explaining to you. Very poor service from this person but the only good news was that the front receptionist was awesome.

Its amazing what the right knowledge can do!! As a former Alaskan, am now in Eastern Tennessee, had my tax return done here that involved a short sale of my small house. But thanks to college friend, Barbara, she said something to Sean Clapper, who knows the right questions. Now, I dont have a tax problem, and am Not making payments for next 2 years. I have used Alaska Tax Service for several years now. They are timely, professional and friendly. Teresa prepares my taxes and she is great. She asks me all the right questions and ensures I am not forgetting any little bit of information or detail - she is very thorough. I highly recommend ATS. I dont like handling my taxes myself and I dont mind paying for it to be done right - plus, it is quite affordable.

I moved to AK from HI and needed tax assistance. I called, made an appt. and ran late. I called in to inform them that I was running late and was able to take the next hour appt. When I arrived, I was greeted well and met with Carter. He is friendly, no nonsense, very focused, and dealt with what I thought was a huge financial problem but ended up to be an input error which was quickly corrected. Disappointment.Very very unprofessional. I gave them my taxes in August, after multiple phone calls and emails I decided to get them back, complete or not.Guy on the front desk just give them back to me and said here.No explanation, no sorry after 4 months.I still cant believe it.Avoid this place.

This place has been a life saver and I couldnt be more grateful for all of Carters help. Carter was so rude. I USE to like Alaska Tax Service, until I was blown off by Cater Ellis just because we were out of state and not in-person to do them. We have been clients there for over 5 years, and will now be finding somewhere else to go! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We have residential income plus family business. Taxes are too messed up for me. Rather than firing lawmakers who generate tax laws we hire Alaska Tax Service. They know tax law are fast and had the best rates.

Had filed the majority of my 2016 return in mid-February, sent the last piece of information to one of the tax consultants there, Sean Clapper, by March 1st. We had email correspondence in which he indicated he would file the taxes by March 1st in the evening and that it was done.Received a call 7 weeks later on the Federal Tax Deadline Date that I needed to come in to sign more paperwork that I hadnt been told about until now. It was an inconvenience to me, stressful for me, and unprofessional for him to have misled me via email, or not updated me since then about this apparently unforeseen paperwork.I do not intend to file my taxes or receive financial consulting from Alaska Tax Service in the future.

Friendly, and explain to you the more difficult items. I worked with Carter and will be coming back next year!
