I stopped by at the end of the day without an appointment and they were able to get me in first thing the next morning. They checked out my problem and were able to quickly resolve the issue. While they were at it they swapped over my winter tires and made sure my suspension was good to go. The best part was the bill ended up being lower than the quote. Ive been here with two of my vehicles and both times the service was great. I definitely recommend going here for service and I know I will continue to bring my vehicles here.

Came in with a seizing brake caliper. I asked them to also replace the brake pads. I provided my own parts. I was quoted a good price. They fixed what needed to be fixed, returned the parts they didn’t use, I paid half of what they quoted. Did amazing work, very quickly. Also very knowledgeable when I had questions. I’m already a return customer and I intend to go back if I ever need anymore work done. Thank you for the exceptional work!

Very poor communication. The people who answers the phone has communication issues, one person says that parts are in other person says they arent. I sent my vehicle in for an oil leak inspection (which the main oil leak was due to a faulty seal on the oil filter that they replaced only 2 months ago. Instead they tell my wife that the tie rods are so worn that they didnt feel safe releasing my vehicle to me unless they were replaced. I didnt send it in for that I could have changed tie rods myself. My vehicle leaks MORE than before. The owner Alexander is friendly enough but the service was horrible. When I go to a shop I want to pay them to do what I want them to do not try to create future work for themselves. Would not recommend.

My fiance took a tire in for repair and was charged $25 for a mechanic to remove & patched tire, mounted and re balance this never happened. The tire was taken in, off the vehicle, and was plugged - the plug was not even trimmed. The dirt on the rim was not even smudged. When I called and spoke to the front desk girl she stated the mechanic made that note so she charged for the patch and to please come back in to straighten it out. My fiance went back and the story changed to it was all her fault and the $10 price difference between the $25 patch repair and the actual $15 plug repair was refunded..... We will not be back to a place that scams customers.

..... after taking a second vehicle to them for inspection, we had them do the work on Suzy Blue. Inspected, Estimate and Fixed. She runs like new, started right up and fairly priced (within estimated price), to do so. They also answered every question we had. Explained everything. Thanks and We will see ya again with our other troubled vehicle.

I took my Jeep to this garage after getting stuck in the snow and messing up my alignment. I had my traction control light on, my tire sensor light on, and my steering wheel cantered to the left. After arriving and speaking to the front desk lady, I decided to get my brakes replaced and an oil change on top of having my alignment fixed. I supplied my own brake kit complete with pads and rotors. When signing the form, I specifically checked the box saying I’d like to keep all parts taken off my Jeep. I was called back later that day and was told my Jeep was finished. I paid $371 for all that work which I thought to be a great price. However not even 10 min after driving away, my traction control light came back on, and my steering wheel was still cantered to the left. Also, I never received my brake parts that were taken off my vehicle. (I know my rotors were still good) I immediately called back and requested another appointment, which was set for the following day at 9am.I returned the next day, dropped off my Jeep and went home to wait for the call back. I also had asked to get my parts that were taken off of my Jeep, but I was told it was “too late”, which was a little fishy considering I had just been in the prior day. I was called later that day and told that my rear left lower control arm was bent, and the sway bar end link was bent as well. I was charged an additional $367 in labor, and $127 in parts. I was also told that it wouldn’t be completed that day and I could either leave it overnight or come pick it up and return at another time. I decided to leave my Jeep overnight. The next day around noon I was called and told my vehicle was finished. I arrived, paid, and picked up my Jeep. After driving it around town I was very satisfied with all the work done, even though I never received my parts back. I thought everything was good until I went to auto start my vehicle the next morning. I’ve had my auto start for over 7 years and never had a problem with it. The first time I attempt to use it after taking it to Vatos and it doesn’t work. They were closed so I’ll wait to call them the next time they open and see if I can’t get it fixed for free. If not I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere and adjust my review.

These guys do great work for a fair and honest price. It can be tough finding an auto shop you feel you can trust, so Ive been very happy with the service Ive been given so far.

Nice local Garage. Went in for a full Synthetic oil change. The receptionist was cute and friendly and service started immediately and was do in 45 minutes. The bill was approximately $145... the most Ive ever paid. On the receipt the mech listed leaks that needed to be fixed totaling $2400! Im not saying something smells fishy but when I asked the receptionist if the mechanic could show me, she said no ones allowed in the garage. Alarms sounded in my head and I thanked her and left. I will get a second opinion before shelling out that kind of money!

Previously put my Jeep in the shop to get my coolant leak fixed but a few days afterwards, the leak started again... I was driving carefully too. The service was not the most pleasant at all and the personnel came off rude on the phone. Definitely regret putting my money here.

Had my exhaust put on at Vato’s Garage and waited a few weeks to give my review, and I just want to say, I still smile every time I hear that rumble when I start my truck. The staff at Vato’s Garage did a hell of a job on my Ram 1500. The exhaust I had put on was not a direct replacement, there was some custom work that had to go into it to make what I wanted fit. The work they put in shows pride in their craft, and the communication and customer service are why they have a loyal customer for future projects and repairs.

Took my daughters Chevy Malibu to Vatos, thought I would give them a try after receiving a very high estimate for the work at Midas. She had a limited budget, and I couldnt be any happier with the decision to choose Vatos. Great price on the repairs, treated us very well. Have not had a garage/mechanic that I have really trusted in a long time, I think I may have found one. Will take all our vehicles there from now on, and will recommend to friends and family.

I love Vatos Garage!! First, they are a Veteran owned, local business. Second, they always manage to get me serviced in an emergency. Third, they do great work and stand behind their parts and labor. Friendly office manager is both very professional and helpful. Hands down a great place to take your car!!

I dont know where they are getting all these rave reviews..this was the worst experience ever that I have had with a mechanic shop.I had my rims delivered there after speaking with Natasha following a bad experience with the inquiry I made to their competitor. She was very professional and kind.I dropped my car off at 915am today and was told there was one car getting a tire change over. I was told 2 hours tops. It is now 344pm and I dont have my car..I had to initiate follow-up for a status. No one called me. I was told another 45 mins and waited an hour. No phone call from them. Clearly no respect for other peoples time..I called again and the receptionist on duty (not Natasha) told me they were just putting the last wheel on. She couldnt give me an ETA...but kept saying I dont know what to tell you they had to go to lunch. I explained how I felt about her unprofessional answers and not being to deliver in a timely fashion. I told her I wanted to speak to a supervisor and/or owner. She started talking over me and hung up on me.Needless to say...I hope I dont have to write another review after I pick up my car.

I dropped off a part that I purchased from OReillys that didnt work to my plan (power steering pump and pulley). This was the first place I stopped by to see if they could help get the part fixed before I placed on my vehicle. I was doing this out of not having proper tools and I really wasnt in a rush. The owner took real good care of me told me possibilities of getting the part to work and even apologized for thinking they took to long which they didnt. I couldnt appreciate a mechanic shop more, they are service and customer service is phenomenal. If you need anything done I recommend them highly. Thanks to the owner and the staff I couldnt be happier with my experience with your business.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I took my car in for an alignment and it came out worse than whenever I took it in. Additionally, they recommended I replace my shocks, but told me they wanted almost $600 for labor and another $4-500 for parts. What absolute nonsense.Edit: I shortly after checked my oil and found i was short about 1.5 Qts. I was charged for an oil change, an alignment, and a tire rotation. I didnt get enough oil and I didnt get my car aligned. I certainly paid for those things, but it seems they never happened or were done very poorly. I have had this car for 3 years without a single issue. After a single stop at Vatos it has been one thing after another.

Just moved to Alaska and brought my new used VK Rabbit to have the tires changed over and have a belt fix. I was very happy with the service provided, they explained the problem and what they did. Extremely friendly, fast and fair cost. I recently took my side by side and trailer here for a spring time up and bearings greasing. I called the Tuesday before memorial day and they got me in the first day the following week. I work at 7:30 am and they accommodated me accordingly so I could drop the side by side and trailer off prior to work. They finished the job by lunch time and I was able to pick it up. The mechanic even helped me hook up the trailer and load the side by side since I was in work attire. I would highly recommend this garage to anyone needing service and will definitely be bringing my vehicles for service when needed.

I went there on Monday and scheduled an appointment to get my vehicle worked on for Wednesday between 8 & 9am.I asked for an estimate of what it would cost and the lady in the front told me they will give me a call later that evening about it. I didn’t get a call, not even the following day.I went to my scheduled time to drop the car off this morning at 8:30am, and right there I got an estimate of what it would cost. I had no time to decide if it was a good price, since I didn’t get a call like the lady at the front desk said she would. If shes busy, I get it. Just don’t tell me she’s gonna give me a call and doesn’t.On top of that, she said it might not get done today because they’re backed up. I had a scheduled appointment to drop my car off & I went there to a disappointment. My plans had to change because of this.So eagerly I went else where and it was cheaper & they are fixing my cars problem today.

Awesome service and turn around time. Tire changing season in November, the snow has fallen, and everyone is scurrying to get their studded tires switched over and installed. Every shop in Anchorage such as Costco is booked until the end of November 2018. I found a screw in my tire a couple of weeks prior and it began seriously leaking. This shop fixed my tire in 30 minutes. Jamie was super professional and quite cute to :) First come first serve is the best!

Natasha felt the need to inform us we couldn’t get our car back after us making an appointment and being reassured several time it’d be done within the day.When we asked the owner about this (he’s normally goes above and beyond. Aka when his employees installed faulty parts into our engine) he then told us not to expect it done during busy season. Natasha then continued to scream over her desk that she didn’t tell us anything. We’ve never had a mechanic tell us we can’t get our car back let alone a receptionist literally scream in our face that she never told us anything.

I spent a total of $500 having them diagnose and fix my car. They never fixed it. The engine was still making the noise they said they would fix. And the engine light came back on literally the next day after they “fixed” it. I’m a single mom with 3 kids and don’t have extra money just lying around to give to them for cheating me.

Exactly what I needed, no more, no less.The guy was great and to the point. I was taking in a vehicle to get it checked out before I made my final decision on purchasing it or not and he made me feel confident in my choice.I took the vehicle in, they got me right in and it took less than an hour. They went through everything very thoroughly and layer it all our for me. There was complete transparency; price listings on parts, labors rates and times for each repair and a full quote to back it all up. He even went through and showed me what I looked like damaged compared to how it should look.To top it all of, he worked through the list with me to determine the necessities, the needs, and the wants. Plus, a time frame of when to get it all done and not break my bank at the same time.All in all, it was a pleasure dealing with them and they are now my go to garage.

The staff here rotates out frequently, which is par for most private mechanic shops, but are overall helpful and serious. I havent seen them try to gauge me, like how other shops will tack on services not explicitly requested. All around just really good service and at a reasonable rate.

My rating is more like a 1/3 of a star because my husband and I took our truck with a clutch problem to them because they told us they can look at it in a couple of days and once they do itll be done that day. Nearly 2 weeks goes by and we didnt even get an update phone call about whats going on, than nearly 2 weeks later my clutch goes out the same way it did when I brought it to them. We called them back up to see what they can do about their work once again failed and the girl at the front desk was telling my husband that theyre even more short handed then before and a man in the background told her that if my husband has an attitude he can wait 2 weeks for his truck to get fixed. Who in their right mind tells someone who just spent nearly 1,500 at your shop yells at customers like that?? Please if you have read my review, just look somewhere else for work because chances are if they tell you theyll call you, they wont and if they tell you itll be done that day, it wont. They are only trying to get your business in a desperate way. Vatos you should reevaluate your customer service and maybe your employees because not once have we heard an apology for anything.

They always take great care of me & won my wife over last spring. A place I could trust her to go without being taken for a ride. Highly highly highly recommended. Great guys.

Very unprofessional on the phone when I asked for the car to be released to the dealership. I don’t need you to ask 100 questions, you are the business looking for my money not the other other way around.Shady pricing as well. I was specifically told that no charges would be added without consent, which btw is the law in Alaska. Went to sign paperwork for the car to be released and had a $175 bill. Charged two hours for labor but the vehicle had been in the lot outside all weekend and when I arrived an hour into their opening on Monday.Very shady and unprofessional business.Edit. Just look at their response...🙃

Got 4 tires put on today. Alex got me the best price in town and the only place with same day service for my odd size tire. The service was quick, though a miscommunication happened, Alex went above and beyond to rectify the situation.Coming from someone who strongly dislikes going to a mechanic due to being screwed over in the past. I find it hard to trust mechanics. Alex was the most upfront honest mechanic I think Ive ever met. I would whole heartedly trust him with any of my (5) vehicles for future work.

Took my car in for an alignment early in the morning and was told they would call when it was ready. I called 30 minutes before they closed and was told it was out in the parking lot and they couldnt do anything with it because my struts in the front didnt have an adjustment bolt. It was not the first time I got an adjustment with the struts so I knew that what they said wasnt true. I took it to Alaska Spring & Performance and they had it done within a couple hours no problem.

The only shop I will take my vehicles to. Cannot recommend enough.Veteran owned and operated, they offer a military discount and are very knowledgeable of every vehicle I have brought in. Fair prices, wont try to sell you parts you dont need, always willing to explain exactly what needs to be done and why they are doing it. I couldnt imagine taking my vehicles to any other shop in town

I took my 97 wrangler into the people at Vatos. I was in a huge hurry and a little stressed. My wrangler is my only daily driver. The owner and staff understood that and took what I said seriously. After the work had been done on my water pump, the gentleman behind the counter gave me an estimate concerning a lesser problem I didnt have time for. What I loved about the place, was the fact they took me serious. Ill definitely be going there again and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an honest repair shop.

My truck breaks down on me its snowing and windy, its Saturday at 4: pm. By the time I get towed to Vatos Gurage in Anchorage which was recommended. The owner stayed late and replaced my Alternator, serpentine belt and dropped in a new battery. I cant say enough goodwill or words toward this shop. How many garage shops now days would have stayed late to get me home in Palmer on my own. In my book, they dont come any better. There were no surprise charges either. I highly recommend Vatos Gurage!

Tell me if two star is even fair. btw, the oil change asked on transmission and lube on front and rear prop were not done. reason, props are lube-less and transmission oil looked new. still had the audacity to ask for $$$. I think this place think of itself too highly.

I would give zero stars if I could!!I went there yesterday to consult with the owner about working on my car. We discussed everything that needed to be done and he told me to drop it off today at 8am.When I got there he was incredibly rude, and stated he could not touch the car for at least a week. I was confused because he specifically TOLD ME to bring it in? He was incredibly unprofessional and irritated. I plan to post this same review in other places, thats how much I DONT want people going to this douchebag!Never go here!!!!!

Very sweet and didnt take advantage of me being female and not knowing about mechanical things. They showed me hands on what They fixed And told me how to keep how to fix an issue if it occurs again!

I personally used to work at vatos garage. Alex being my boss and owner seemed like an upstanding honest and loyal mechanic (do right by customers). About two weeks was all I could handle. Negative attitude, rude blameful. Asked questions got ignored. Skinny Tom being the only one who seemed to have a lick of actual sense in the shop. Alexs words when I quit was its not whats right or safe for the customer its what the customer wants after sending out a Toyota camery with a RF (Reft Front) busted shock and strut assembly (as I noted in the revision work order). Just to find out 5 minuite later he took out my notes and failed to inform the customer of what the actual issue was. What if the customer and his pregnant wife got into a car accident and died or killed someone else due to money hungry and negligence of actually taking care of customers. Felt like i was working at a junk yard. Just a little insite behind the office

Ive had a few things done by Vatos, and Im really impressed. Theyve been honest, fair, and really easy to work with. I always get multiple quotes for any repair, and Vatos is consistently at or below other garages in town. My most recent car episode I had to decide whether to undertake a near-total engine overhaul or junk the car, and they were above and beyond patient with me while I made my decision. Id send anyone to this shop. Im totally baffled by the reviews calling Alex rude. Hes never been anything but friendly, professional, and accommodating to myself and my boyfriend, as has the whole staff, both on the phone and in person. I rarely leave reviews, but felt compelled to this time. Dont hesitate to bring your car here.

Amateur work and horrible customer service. Bought a brand new set of wheels and tires for my vehicle and had them install them. They used an over-sized impact drill to put my lug nuts on and not only did they scratch and ruin the inside of one of my brand new wheels, but all four. After contacting them, I received a call back from the owner Alex yelling at me for bugging them about fixing me wheels. Not only did they not completely fix the wheels as they still are very noticeably damaged, it took them 5 weeks to finally fix them after numerous phone calls. The whole time I was treated like I was the problem when they were the ones who was at fault.

We took our truck to this place and we gave them enough time to work on our truck which they didnt but they took 5 months my husband is very patient and was being way too nice to them. So they took advantage of him. after that they said you dont have patience 5 months for one diagnostic? To find out that they couldnt fix the problem? I dont know but you tell me does that sound fair?Also, the clerk who works in the front doesnt know anything about whats going on in the back. he couldnt provide us with any information about a part that was sent to God knows who. Also the clerk was asked numerous times to give us an estimate but it was just out of mouth Im pretty sure the alaska automobile repair act states that upon request we should receive a written estimate and a repair order and what is to be done on the vehicle but we never receive any of that until the end . So we just took it back.

Horrible shop! I took my car there because it was overheating. I was told the repair estimate would be $95, but the estimate would be waived if they did the repairs. I agreed, informing them that an agency would be helping me pay for the repairs. I was informed they were familiar with the agency and worked with them often. Later that day I receied a call stating that the water pump and a belt needed replacing, the radiator needed a backflush and new fluids, costing a total of about $500. I asked them to email the estimate to the agency and myself. The agency ultimately refused to help me pay for the repairs. The $95 estimate was paid and I took my car home. It wasnt until the next day that I looked at the emailed estimate. No where on the estimate did it state the waterpump, a belt or a backflush was needed. It stated that the muffler, tailpipe, exhaust clamps, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and differential cover all needed replacing and it needed new fluids, totalling $986.00. Now I know why the agency refused to help me.

These guys are highly recommended! Got screwed from Kia & ended up paying half the amount Kia was going to charge even when they misdiagnosed the issue with my van in the first place. Sam was able to fit me in their schedule the very next day even if they were a few days out. Mechanic took pictures and emailed them to me to help get a reimbursement from Kia. 5 stars cuz yall are life savers! Great service! Much Aloha to you folks at Vatos!

Dont go here - run forest run. The garage did $600 in Unauthorized brake work - front clerk says sorry sometimes the guys get carried away. (PS - I went in for LOF and they got that wrong). Muffler is C- job - to do it right pipe should be welded not clamped.Then the real trouble begin - three phone calls to get a decision maker to call me back - only to be berated by a bully (Alex the owner) whos nickname should be hot-mic - aka he talks constantly and doesnt listen.He asked me to get documentation so he could fire his mechanic and clerk on commission - even said he would pay the garage for inspecting old brakes. I did it for him because it was the honorable thing to do. Now he says deal is off because I didnt do it the very next day - even when I explained the car was in shop for a couple days and I did not have ability to get 25 miles to town.
