Every staff member we dealt with was a true professional—confident, assured, and competent. Our trip into Lake Clark National Park was astounding, and the return flight even more so, because the pilots took extra care to make sure we got to see some amazing sights. They went out of their way to point out interesting things, take slight detours to get better views, and make multiple passes around fascinating things so that we could all take in the amazing scenery from the air. The planes are comfortable, and I am a large person who needs a seatbelt extender. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and secure without making a big deal of it. The pilots were excellent!

Took a bear excursion to Lake Clark National Park. Incredible flight, and the most spectacular day! Saw over 25 bears, and a bull moose! Rae, our tour guide was wonderful! We had a lot of fun! Trip of a lifetime!

What a life changing experience! This was easily the highlight of our trip in Alaska. Being able to experience the Denali range up close is a memory well carry with us forever. The flight was incredibly smooth for such a small plane. Scott was an incredible pilot and was very knowledgeable about questions that the passengers had.

Excellent service for the most sought after summer tour in Alaska. Only available to those who agree $1000 for the day tour flight weeks in advance. The wildlife watching tour to Katmai. This one day tour is better than wasting a whole week in fruitless activities in Alaska.

My wife and I took the Discover Denali and it was more than I ever expected. The views of the mountains were absolutely amazing. We landed on a lake near Denali to get out and take pictures, which was a major plus. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys flying and who loves to take pictures. They will even pick you up and drop you off at most hotels in Anchorage.

They took us out for a drop off at summit and a pickup 3 days later at Clark. Outstanding service. Instant dispatch when we were ready for exfiltration.

Rusts was a great experience! My husband and I loved our flight to Denali with the glacier landing. The sights were beautiful. Highly recommend if you want to take in Alaska from a birds eye view. Kyle was a wonderful pilot!

Fantastic experience bear viewing and the flight there was phenomenal. We saw beluga whales and black bear from the plane. The pilot gave an in depth history of the area explaining the land formations and waterways. Highly recommend, you wont be disappointed!

Due to high winds our planned plane tour to view Lake Clark NP and bear viewing had to be cancelled. After a short conversation they offered another trip that took us through two mountain ranges viewing multiple glaciers along the way. It was the most unique and satisfying small plane tour I have ever experienced. Mark, our pilot, was fabulous. He was very informative, professional, and had a great sense of humor. The trip was not cheap but definitely worth it. We highly recommend it especially if you have a goal of visiting all of the NP’s in the US.

I haven’t gone on my trip yet but I can’t wait to visit Alaska! Even before heading out to Alaska Rust’s Flying Service has been nothing short of excellent to work with. They called me to reschedule my bear sightseeing trip because of a computer error and the person I spoke to gave me all kinds of information about where to see bears and the best places to go during which season. I can’t say enough great things about the customer service and how friendly the people are who I have spoken too thus far. If you are going to spend a good chunk of money on a once in a lifetime trip, might as well spend it with an excellent company who cares about giving you a great experience.Also, Rust’s has not asked for a review or given any kind of discount for a positive review. We did this on the fly. We booked a half hour trip. The pilot was very nice and friendly and told us about the area and as my boyfriend has also been a pilot, some of the finer points of taking off and landing a float plane. It was lots of fun and I would recommend even the shortest flight to anyone. We lucked out and saw a few beluga whales and seals.

Amazing experience worth every penny. We went to Chinitna Bay with Rusts and from the very minute we took off until we landed we were happy. We saw dozens of bears and glaciers and our pilot was friendly, safe, and knowledgeable. I grew up in Alaska and honestly think everyone local and tourist alike should experience flying with Rustss, just WOW I never knew my home was so beautiful until I saw it from above. Professional. Friendly. We took 2 flights with them. I had a broken ankle. They helped me in and out of the plane and made me as comfortable as possible. They also picked us up and took us back to our hotel!! Great group, who all seem to love their jobs!

We did a trip to Lake Clark national park last July and its one of the best trip we had in Alaska! The pilot is very knowledgable and professional, we feel relax and safe during the whole flying period. The beauty in Lake Clark is unbeatable! It combines a huge milky blue lake, Glaciers, Salmon, a lot of huge mountains and, of course, bears! We are lucky enough to see a diving bear there. Highly recommended!

Spectacular flight.... highlight of a great trip

We had the pleasure of taking a bear watching tour with Rusts Flying Service in July. The day we were supposed to fly was canceled due to the weather,but they worked with us to reschedule us on a different tour. No regrets!! We had a fabulous time. Our pilot, Mark, was fantastic! He went above and beyond anything we expected. He showed us sights you cant see other than by air. Cant say enough about the fantastic guides we had on the bear tour. They even helped those of us without the high powered cameras get some excellent photos of the bears...with our phones! Everyone we encountered who was associated with Rusts was professional, courteous and just plain NICE! I would definitely recommend Rusts...they do an incredible job.

I cant imagine that there is a better float plane service in the world. I also grabbed a sweet tshirt at the service building... coolest shirts I saw Im Alaska.

I need more room to rave about Curtis our Pilot and Rusts Flying Service. We live in Anchorage and our kids were coming to visit us so we booked a trip to Katmai Brooks Falls to see the bears. We are new to AK so asked friends for a recommendation and they highly recommended Rusts--our friend is a Pilot and said Rusts had THE best safety record and customer service. Curtis did not disappoint. We flew in a VERY comfortable plane and Curtis made sure we saw all the best sites. My husband is a Geologist and he (and we) were all appreciative of the info and facts Curtis provide about what we were seeing. From the moment we landed and had a bear RIGHT THERE on the beach by our plane,and had to sit tight--it was the start of an epic adventure. Curtis showed us several cool archeological sites in the National Park that most other pilots from other companies may not have taken the time to show their customers. We LOVED this! The number of bears we saw at the falls - catching salmon - was CRAZY and so fun. Then when we went back to the plane, a momma bear and her 7 month old cub were laying down RIGHT NEXT to our plane. Needless to say we didnt leave right away. I cannot speak highly enough of Curtis our Pilot and Rusts Flying Service. You have a lot of choices in Anchorage but remember you get what you pay for and we got more than our moneys worth. Curtis with Rusts showed us so many cool scenes from the air--a caldera, volcanoes, glaciers and so much more. As a nature loving family with a Geologist as Dad--we were SO happy!.

Had a superb tour with our pilot Chris. Pictures and video cannot capture the raw beauty of nature. Our tour was February 1st so we had a unique experience to see Alaska as a frozen wonderland. Rusts is a top notch operation that prides themselves on safety and maintenance.

We had a spectacular flight to Denali (and surrounding mountains) on a clear February day. The mountains are pristine, rugged, and wild. I am a pilot myself and was very impressed with the flying skill of our pilot, Scott. He was also an excellent tour guide and downright fun person to talk with. The office staff were also very friendly. The flight itself was breathtakingly beautiful, in a way that made you yearn to stay in those remote valleys for hours. I would recommend every visitor or resident of Alaska take this flight at least once.

We did the Glacier Landing tour in Denali. It was simply amazing! Bruce was out pilot and guide. He was a total pro. Knew what he was doing. Felt very safe. The scenery was absolutely incredible! We do a lot of adventures, and this one was absolutely near the top of our list! Highly recommend!

I took the Denali tour and it far exceeded my expectations. They take you up into the mountains and glaciers around Denali. It was spectacular scenery and without a doubt the finest tour Ive taken anywhere. The pilot was a super pro, friendly, and easy to talk with. I loved this trip.

Our tour was canceled because of the weather in the area we were flying to. They took us on a glacier tour instead. The pilot was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great tour of the glacier and flew by some Dall sheep. Nice tour. Wish we could have done the one we booked but cant control the weather.

My wife and I flew with Mike to Prince William Sound and had a fabulous time!In addition to the beauty of Alaska, Mike described many interesting tidbits about Alaska, as only a native Alaskan can do.The landing on a lake for a break was fun! Nothing quite measures up to landing a floatplane on a remote body of water. The salmon were spawning, adding to to thrill,of being the only humans for miles & miles.If you enjoy boating & flying....do it. Lake Hood is a wonderful take-off and landing zone...what a view!

How anyone gives them below a 5 is beyond me. Very nice pilots and professional staff. My wife was very nervous about a float plane but the pilot went out of his way to keep her as comfortable as possible. She ended up loving every second. The scenery is great and the pilots are very knowledgeable.

Booked a bear viewing tour to Chinitna Bay and could not recommend it enough. Service was top notch, our pilot was awesome. My husband and I lucked out and got to sit closest to the front behind the pilot, and therefore got the best views during the 1.5 hour flights each way. The scenery was mind-blowingly beautiful, I had no idea Alaska was so stunning and had such different terrains. We spotted moose while flying! On the ground at Chinitna Bay, there were bears everywhere, what an incredible experience.

We used Rusts to fly to Redoubt Bay to view the bears. The staff was friendly upon checking in, the pilot was experienced and pointed out wildlife along our route. It was one of the best things we did while in Anchorage. We went in July and were able to see both black bears and brown bears. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Curtis did a great job today with an air tour of Denali and lake landing. Good hands and command of the air. As a pilot (A-7, F-16, F-15) I was deeply impressed with the skill of the pilot. He was so far ahead of the aircraft and the in flight planning that he had to come back 10 minutes to chat with us.This is a great service and great people ... you cannot go wrong with these guys.

I flew with Rusts on 6/30/10. Our pilot, Virgil was very friendly and knowledgeable, and was a very experienced pilot. All of the companys planes appeared to be in excellent shape. The scenery flying through the mountains and over glaciers was incredible. We also got to fly over Prince William Sound. I would highly recommend Rusts flying service to anyone. Plus, if youve never flown on a float plane, its a lot of fun taking off and landing in the lake.

Went on their Chinitna Bay Bear Viewing Tour. Saw about 16 bears, mostly mama bear with cubs. The views on the plane and by the Bay are amazing! Our pilot Mark is very nice and knowledgeable. On the way back he took us to the Double Glacier for a closer look. That was some special experience. The tour guide on the ground knows where the bears are and bus you there direcly so you have good chance to see more bears in limited time. Overall its a great experience and highlight of our Alaska trip. Highly recommend their services and bear viewing tours.

It was great!!! I saw the bears eat the fish. I saw the birds eat what the bears didnt. The only suggestion is let everyone know to bring large bottle of water. If there is any way possible include two bottles of water with lunch. Kyle went above and beyond to help me. He went back to camp brought the waters from lunch box and came back to next to the falls. That was two miles round-trip. Then I drank three waters. Mine, my husbands​, and Kyles. He was Awesome!!!

We were one of the four planes heading to the lodge for bear viewing. Our pilot was the only pilot that didnt want to fly to the lodge because of the clouds. So we were flown back disappointed. When we got back they refuled the plane so our pilot could fly cargo to a different location. The manager didnt even apologize for us being the only plane not to land at the lodge. He was more interested in getting the cargo on the plane . The pilot took off before we were in the van going back to the hotel disappointed

Good flight with experienced pilot. Our flight left about 45 minutes late with no explanation so if you are on a tight schedule this might not be a good option.

Fantastic experience - we lucked out with weather, but even if it hadnt been clear, our pilot Mike was a wealth of knowledge and excellent guide. He gave us history of explorations, Denali naming, geography, workings of glaciers, and more. Would highly recommend this for any Alaska trip!

HelloI normally do not post bad reviews but Ive lost close to $500 rebooking my entire trip because of terrible booking experience and cancellations by Rusts Flying Service. Initially Ive booked a Bear viewing tour for two for $1800 for the entire day of August 30th. The website displayed clear open dates and processed my booking request after taking my payment. I began to book my entire trip around this full day activity. Soon after I received an email from Rusts indicating that the date i chose was not available??? I called Rusts and spoke to Sage who apologized for the website not being 100% accurate for bookings and assured me he can reschedule my trip for the following day which we did over the phone. I proceeded to reschedule my Airbnb and other overlapping activities Ive committed for the day. Despite losing out on a few hundred dollars I was still extremely overjoyed because Bear Viewing expedition was the highlight of my trip. After some time I noticed Ive still have not received an email confirmation so Ive decided to call back to request one. To my surprise Ive learned my reservation was once again cancelled because the representative on the phone failed to call the lodge to see if two more people could be accommodated. At least thats the explanation that was given to me. I was once again in an unfortunate position having to cancel all my prior plans and reshuffle my entire trip losing out on more money.Im sure their expeditions are wonderful but the booking service was a nightmare. I was offered a 10% discount but that doesnt help me when the tour is totally booked for the 3 days that Im in Alaska. All in all very disappointing experience I wish I had not gone through.

Stood around on concrete for an hour then on asphalt for another hour or so waiting to catch a plane ride.... finally gave up and headed home. Mosquitoes were ravenous. Food was ok, and its a very nice event that Rusts puts on for all the volunteers each year. Chairs would have been good. Well go again next year now that we know what to expect!

One of the best things we have done. We booked a Denali tour, they checked the weather and told us before we left that clouds would likely obscure the peak. We discussed options about what to see, we chose to continue our planned flight. Even without seeing the peak, it was outstanding.Peter was great in answering our questions and showing us Alaska. He took the time to calm our fears about flying and warning us if he expected any bumpy parts. There werent many bumps, much smoother than we expected.We cant imagine trying to see Denali any other way, we will be back for a different tour.
