Where Do i start oh i know first my appointment was at 6 the guy that was supposed to be helping me was in the cubicle on a personal call, than about 20 mins later comes out to bring us back. As we hand him our paper work and sees that i am an independent contractor for a trucking he proceeds to get really angry me being a 1099. Then he just gets real rude and when we ask him what the price is he decides he is going to try and charge us over 600 bucks um yea youve got it twisted i just stormed out no way i want to do business with this kind of person

DO NOT GO TO H&R BLOCK, DO YOUR OWN TAXES!!!H&R Block doesnt offer the level of expertise, customer service or value that I would expect for $210. My agent wasnt forthcoming with the price of the service and she didnt ask me questions to gain a better understanding of my tax situation. From my perspective, I was charged for 20 minutes of data entry that I could have done myself. Thats the short version. If you want more detail about why I feel this way, please keep on reading.On January 31st I walked into H&R Block in Anaheim. I was a walk-in and I was surprised by how quickly I was introduced to an agent. That was the most positive part of my experience.The agent assigned to oversee my filing seemed nice. She didnt really say much except, have you been to H&R Block before? and did you have any medical insurance in 2017? Actually, Im still not sure what she plugged into that field. I didnt have the form to prove that I did have insurance and when I offered her my insurance cards, she said she didnt need them. Anyway, from that point on we had almost no communication until she pitched some security add-ons near the end of the filing process.Before committing to any add-ons, I asked her how much it would cost to file. The agent quoted me a price of $210 and I was shocked. What was I supposed to do? She already performed the service and I made the mistake of not asking for a quote upfront. I ponied up the money and paid for the service out of pocket. In addition, I also paid for the security add-ons (bringing my over all total to about $260). I like having piece of mind, but I think that was an unnecessary expense, too.As I was walking away from the branch that day, something didnt feel right.After doing some research, I found that my filing shouldnt have cost nearly as much as I paid. Apparently, the agent used a longer form than was necessary in order to grant me a $66 savers credit (which I also had to pay $20 to file for). After speaking with the manager I learned that if her agent had given me the option, I could have declined the credit and used the shorter (way less expensive) 1040EZ form. That lack of communication cost me quite a bit of money and since my taxes were already filed, the manager insisted there was nothing she could do to refund me.I learned my lesson the hard way. Although I dont feel any of this was done maliciously, I still feel there needs to be some major changes in policy, procedure, and ethics at H&R Block.After this experience I suggested to my fiancee that she do her taxes online. While her tax situation is more complex than mine, she was able to do it with little effort and way less out of pocket cost. She was able to file all of her forms and deductions for under $100 (piece of mind insurance included).Please, do yourself a favor and do your research. If youre single and have one job there are so many options online that are virtually free. If you have a more complicated situation or you just feel more at ease with a tax professional, do your homework and find someone that comes highly recommended; someone who can share there expertise with you and guide you to a healthier financial future.I know this is a long review, but I hope it helps. Dont believe me? Check consumer affairs and other review sights and youll find similar stories. Be careful and be wise with your finances. Im normally very careful and I like to do plenty of research. I rushed into this and I got burned. Please dont make the same mistake.
