Horrible gym. Use to be nice. Manager after manager. They get worse and worse. Equipment is always broken and youre lucky if you find any dumbbells. Most of them are gone and what is left is scattered throughout the gym. One of the worst LA Fitness. Only care about making sales.

I just joined this gym a week ago. Ive always been very self conscience about it but finally got the guts to just go for it. The lady in front was ok. But the guy who actually signed me up was awesome. Made me feel very welcomed and explained things i needed. I do utilize the kids room and no complaints at all the girls there are real sweet and my kids seem to like being there. Only negative i have is maybe they can do a better job of cleaning bathroom areas as last time i went it was out of paper towels and everytime i go the floors are pretty soaked. Understandable with the pool and stuff though. Overall thumbs up.

Huge, you have separate floor for cardio and other equipment on 1st floor, there is basketball court, good place for workout, pool was open, but jacuzzi was out of work.

I have been coming here for years and love the people here so much. The staff is so nice and made some great friends here.

My husband and I go to LA fitness every day early in the morning.There has always been an issue with not enough of the free weights. But; since COVID hit last year;Last March 2020 there are even less weights. Almost like,someone came in in the middle of the night an outfitted their “ home gym.”Being Female and not lifting as heavy as the males...Do you know that there is ONLY ONE set of 15 lb weights ( actually 3 of the 15’s), ONE SET of 20 lb weights, ONE SET of 25 lb weights ( none of the 25 lb weights are the same ... one has a collar, one doesn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️), and good luck trying to locate the 10 lb weights. And; it has been like this TOO LONG.I already mentioned it to the manager.Really ... this is a gym. I would expect there to be enough weights for all persons.If you went to the bakery, you expect them to have birthday cakes, right.It is a gym, where are the WEIGHTS?Thank you.Victoria

This location is horrible, aside from equipment being outdated like from the stone age its also sticky & plain dirty. Too many cons to list but will definitely stick to the downtown location even if its an hour commute

The basketball court is a heat hazard which is a disaster for airborne viruses. Management was informed on numerous occasions about the lack of ventilation and they still allowed a full gym of people.I have to bring Pedialyte every time because of how much I sweat sitting on the side lines. This is totally unhygienic and a failure on Xsport part to service their members safely.Not to mention the gym is mostly occupied by people of color yet the remainder of the gym is air conditioned and they failed to offer cold water when there was NO AC at all.

Theres a pool, racquetball, basketball and classes, so theyve got extras. A good gym overall

I enjoy La Fitness work out equipment and swimming pool,but they need to reopen the jacuzzi this summer. We pay for membership and deserve full useage.

LA Fitness is great, but I just didnt come dressed and ready to work out that night.Next visit will be different.

Plenty of machines and for the most part everyone does the social distancing but they definitely dont enforce mask wearing too many people not wearing and management doesnt seem to careUpdate: seems like they are doing a better job today(3/16/21) I saw Jasmine (manager) walking around asking people to put on mask thank you 🙏Update: (4/9/21) usually when the manager Jasmines there its a bit better cuz she roams around and ask people to put on their mask it helps but most people dont listen Friday was terrible I would say about half of the people werent wearing any she wasnt there so Im guessing its because of that but its nowhere near where it should be even with manager present

This was my first time returning to this location since the pandemic. It used to be the go to location when all of the neighboring locations fell short on cleanliness, professionalism or machine availability. I got there around 8:15am. I could smell the locker room before I turned the corner to walk into it. There were papertowels and masks all over the floors! Whats worse, there was only 1 dispenser in the mens area that had papertowels! It was the worse Ive ever seen in any LA Fitness! Most all of the gyms had to step up their sanitation game due to COVID which in all honesty should have been the norm. Now, it seems that this gym has laxed due to the ease of COVID restrictions. Its sad to see! Poor management is the only way to describe it!

It’s fairly clean. The carpets in the locker room could use more frequent vacuuming. They are regularly short on spray bottles for cleaning equipment, BUT they have plenty of hand sanitizer stations around and are full so you can still wipe down equipment. Staff is friendly. Patrons DO NOT follow mask mandates nor does half the staff, and staff does NOT enforce masks. Social distancing is NOT enforced on the gym floor. It’s best if you are vaccinated before you start going here. They DO check temperatures when you check in, but that doesn’t do anything for someone coming in asymptomatic with covid.When you sign up do NOT give them your real phone number. Get a Google voice number and give that to them. They tell you that the don’t sell your phone number, but if you closely read the stuff they make you sign, it clearly states they will sell your phone number. Within a few days of signing up my phone has exploded with robocalls and spam text messages.

This gym use to be my favorite LA Fitness location. However, I agree with several of the other reviews. Mask -wearing is NOT enforced. I reported to the club manager (a male) that I was concerned because so many were not wearing mask. Let me be clear…members not only were wearing their mask below the chin BUT also quite a number of them were NOT wearing a mask at all.The manager didn’t care. His comment to me was that they can’t enforce the rule. Really???? Last I checked, Illinios still had a mask mandate. In addition, the majority of the members were NOT wiping the equipment before or after use.If you have been vaccinated and want to experiment and see if you get COVID, then visit this LA Fitness in Alsip, Illinios!!!!!!

Just got membership in Oct 2020...so far so good. Gym always clean...people respectively showing social distance. Gym has personal disinfectant spray bottle for those like me...cant take any changes I clean everything I touch and wipe clean after finishing. If we all did this it would be a safer place to workout!!!!

Good place to workout. The employees and members do clean the machines constantly. Announcements to keep social distance is played consistently as a reminder. Theres no showering, suna, or lockers.

They have only 1 basket tik at the moment now everyone is cluttered at the one basket making Covid easier to spread, also they have bike machines blocking half the court which makes it extremely dangerous they need to put back up the other rim this is not fair at all to loyal customers

Almost no one wearing masks, no temp checks at the door. Felt very unsafe! I normally go to the one in new Lenox and they require mask wearing AT ALL TIMES. I know people will say how do you work out with mask on the whole time but everyone at the new Lenox location was doing it just fine. If youre at all worried about covid avoid this place!

It’s overall a great gym has everything you need for a not that bad of a price but the only problems are that it’s not that clean people don’t clean the benches after they are done using it I suggest having wipes around to wipe them and have a sign that tells people to wipe down the equipment and the other problem is the mask wearing

They try so bad to convince you to sign up then disappear no one keeps checking on you which was supposed as a part of the program they tell you got free sessions and then they say its for the whole year if you try yo cancel because you didn’t like it they’ll make you pay a penalty!!Don’t ever trust them !! They just want your money !😊

I want to take a moment out of my day to praise the women that keep the women’s locker room clean. I have been to A LOT of LA Fitnesses in the Chicago area and this is by far the cleanest. Every time I come in I see the cleaning women going above and beyond. I see her scrubbing the showers down almost every other day. She needs a raise!

I love the location and the fact that they have a sauna. The problem is that when a certain lady is working in the mornings she never makes sure that the sauna is on. Ive asked her politely if there was a way she could make sure they are on when she comes in. She responded saying well it depends on what time I get here. I pay a monthly fee to come to this gym over others because they have a sauna but what is the use of paying to come here if I cant use it when they open at 5am? Its a feature they have for use and one that is easy to make sure is up and running. We shouldnt have to sit around and wait for 30 minutes for it to even start warming up because it should already be hot by the time we get here. The people that come to the gym in the AM are dedicated and here to get their workouts in before going to work. Ive heard complaints from multiple other members about this issue as well. Ive even called to talk to the girl that works on Friday night about a sauna issue when I was in the sauna. She told me she would go in the back and check out the room due to a horrendous smell. I waited in the sauna for over 45 minutes and not once did she come back to check on it. I feel that there is such a lack of care by some of the employees and it shows.

The club in Alsip is NOT abiding by their own own mask policy. People are standing around, not social distancing, on the floors and in the locker room without masks. According to LAs new policy email, for IL clubs everyone is required to wear face coverings over their mouths and noses upon entry, as well as when inside the gym when not exercising. Social distancing should be maintained at all times. This gym is completely out of compliance with its own rules. There are many people (staff and members) not excercising and not wearing a mask or distancing.

Apparently they arent looking for new members!Called three days in a row, and either I was hung up on or I was ignored when I left my information. Find another LA Fitness!

Very clean and well organized, not too busy, at least at the times I go. Definitely like going to this one compared to some of the other ones.

This is my go to location of LA Fitness. I am generally there during the evenings and sometimes in the afternoons. This location has plenty of exercise equipment and have a generally clean locker room. The smoothie bar is my favorite. When I go into the gym, I generally can use all of the equipment that I need to for my workout without having to wait around for it.

Good place to work out but people need to clean their machine after the work out. Lazy ppl.

Wanted to try this gym before joining. I presented my pass and had to sit with a representative for 30 minutes before my work out. He took my pass and said a new one would be sent by email and I would have to print that new one in order to use it for the remainder of the few days pass. Well I never received the email. The classes offered are not during a work lunch or evening so it would not work.

The staff is super friendly. I’ve been to other gyms in the past and they smelt. This place is amazing.

Woman lockers and bathrooms are clean. That it self is a big plus. The equipment works but they need updating. They just updated the stairmasters. No greetings fro. The front desk (at least for me) so dont expect that. Parking plenty. They have child care. Clean gym

Besides the Manager using military scare tactics to inform you that you need a Personal Trainer, this is a nice facility. Very spacious and clean, friendly staff (mostly). My only compliant is I wish there was a designated area to stretch before/after your workout. There is the Personal Trainer area but if there are a lot of people with their trainers in that area, you do have to leave.

First visit to this location but its very clean, well lit, equipment is mostly stowed away and managed. Hate that they arent 24 hours and that I couldnt find a stair climber 🤷🏾‍♂️ but other than that Im very happy I transitioned from XSport to here.

In general this gym is great. I mean its a gym right, not a luxury palace. The only thing that would be great is if instead of carpet they had wood flooring. I recently went to an LA Fitness near Addison, IL and without carpet the sweaty scent is almost not there!!!

A nice, friendly place to workout. The whole place is always cleaned from head to toe. The also have a great selection of workout material and machines.

The Staff are very welcoming and friendly. They accommodate everyone at different fitness levels. Working out here feels very comfortable.

Good value. Decent equipment. Could be cleaner and they need to buy another damn barbell for the one thats always missing but overall not bad.

I would give membership services negative 👎 stars ⭐️ . I had a knee surgery on dec 26th 2018. I had my doctors authorization to stop my membership due to infection. I called in February to have my membership start again. They lied and said I would just have to pay 29.99$ a month which was part of the agreement from last year. They charged me 49.99 as an annual fee which I already paid For. They just care about money 💰. They are also rude. Some staff members are all on their phones in sauna. Super inappropriate. Too bad I like going this gym. I Recommended it to many people. I would never again. It’s not right.

Good LA to go to. It’s fairly clean sometimes the garbages are overflowing but hard to keep up with so many members. There is a protein shake stand inside and it’s definitely larger and has more equipment than the location on 87th and Cicero.

Always clean, always smells nice, roomy, just an all around great place to sweat and get those gains. Much better than XSPORT!!

Staff are friendly and helpful, especially Gary, a new sales rep who greeted me his first day on the job! Well-lit facility, machines are almost always operational, and its usually a very clean club (except the day when the cleaning staff are off, in which case the MANAGER should do walk-throughs once an hour or so to ensure a clean club. (I know members should be cleaner, but some are slobs)! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The members are also very friendly and respectful.The one thing that the staff needs to learn to do better is place reservation signs on doors of the racquetball courts THE DAY OF a reservation :( When not done, this causes problems with other racquetball players who are using my court, and then I have to kick them off. However, if the traveling league is coming, signs are posted well in advance! Management should ensure ALL RACQUETBALL RESERVATIONS ARE CLEARLY POSTED EACH DAY-DONT PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH RESERVATIONS TO POST AND WHICH RESERVATIONS TO IGNORE! Gary now helps me with postings reservations if I call ahead, so THANK YOU Gary! :)

Awesome Clean Fitness Center awesome Staff.

The gym is mostly well kept. And all the equipment is always in good working order. On the flip side they have carpeting in the locker room. So everyone who comes from the Sauna and from the pool and the shower then walks through the looker room all dripping wet. In return this causes the Carpet (stupid choice for flooring) to smell like ABSOLUTE AZZ.. It smells disgusting in the locker room almost to the point you want to puke. Take that stinky carpet up and put tile down like every other LA. Fitness has. They spend $7,500 on tint for the windows up front so the workers are not as hot. How about spending that $7,500 on tile so you can breath in the locker room. I mean it is us the people who are members of LA Fitness who basically make up the working capital for this gym.. Take notice and fix this issue its disgusting to smell. At the very least buy and run a 300 mg ozone machine in there so people can actually breath and not have to hold there breath.

Always a friendly staff and well knowledgeable about the gym equipment. Enjoy the swimming pool!!!

Be better if they could have the pools open more than 90 % of the time

The gym is nice the Reception are so rude I wish I knew who management is .i work in customer service and know how to treat people they should take some customer service class how to greet and talk to customer.

This gym is an average to above-average shape for the standard LA Fitness. Mens room is average to below-average. Floor desperately needs to be cleaned . No paper towels in two dispensers and no hair dryers.. approach the general manager about getting a hair dryer. His comment was no LA Fitness in the Chicago metro area has them. apparently they cant see spending that $15 to get one. Customers in this gym relatively friendly. Equipment looks to be properly maintained.

Would give 0 stars if Google gave me the option to. Harry Thanos the GM of the local LA Fitness there enrolled us into a back to back monthly deal which allowed us to bring a guest. We agreed to it however he failed to give us a contract for us to sign which was very unprofessional. We also told him the day of enrolling into the membership that we were tourists and we were leaving on the 21st of July. On July 26th or 27th, I got an email from Bank of America saying that my debit card was charged $34.99 from LA Fitness. This caused Bank of America to lock our debit card while we were on tour somewhere else which caused a huge inconvenience for us and it seemed like the management there could not care less. We were very confused at the time and thought it was an act of fraud which seems to be very common in the United States however when we called the LA Fitness there, it said that all memberships get auto-renewed however the GM there knew that we were tourists and we didnt live in the area. Luckily, we had the time to come into the LA Fitness and the first thing I did was go to Harry Thanos and all he said was, I thought you had a friend that would take over. He knew clearly that we were tourists and instead said, Go talk to the other manager. The other manager said that the auto-renewal was on the contract however like I said, Harry never gave us any contracts to sign and it seemed blatantly obvious that he knew we didnt live in the area and couldnt do anything about it. Luckily, we managed to get the refund for $34.99 yet no one there seemed to take responsibility and give us an apology. To anyone planning on getting an LA Fitness membership, just remember that this is a business that will rip you off and are money hungry pigs. Never doing business with a LA Fitness ever again thanks to these guys.To the newcomers in the United States, you should speak your opinion and not be scared to argue back if you feel like something is off because nothing will go your way in this country if you dont say anything, this doesnt just apply to LA Fitness.

Clean facility and great customer service

I toured this LA. Fitness for the first time. It is a very nice facility with a friendly and helpful staff. It has two levels filled with fitness equipment. One can see the swimming pool when you walk in the door which is very nice and inviting.

Clean facilities, great steup classes on Saturday but other than that I will never be back to this Gym Facility. Their Sale person who claimed to be a manager named China just wanted to sell me a pass but left allll the hidden fees and extra charges until i decided to leave. I contacted HR and ofcourse all they had to say was sorry. But I will never ever go back to this LA Fitness, its so expensive more than whats it worth.

L alternate between Alsip and Marshfield . Since they remodled, Marshfield is much better .l enjoy going to both facilities .

Every employee is courteous ..... Clean envoirment and very friendly.... Classes are awesome especially Sheenas aqua fit and Zumba....

Could be cleaner, when I signed up as a college student they said I cancel at anytime no problem, NOT TRUE, they make it nearly impossible and keep on billing you. I called 4-5 times and the person I need to talk to to cancel is never there . Would recommend a different gym.

Love the new step class with patty on Saturday the body work plus abs, and the zumba class is good too. I will like to have another step class.

Great Gym!!! TERRIBLE HOURS Especially on the weekends... I’m forced to also have a pass at the Xsport fitness Express near by, right down Cicero ave. The Xsport Express is too small. If there was a larger Xsport Fitness near by I feel like this LA Fitness would be out of business.

Great place to workout, very clean, the amenities include a pool, hot tub and sauna. The locker room is big and there are plenty of machines also it is reasonably priced

Out all the ones Ive visited, I appreciate this one the most. The weight section can get packed, but it seems to be functional. The locker room is always clean and manageable. I will say that the toilet area leaves a bit to be desired. For the most part the gym functions as you would expect, with the exception of over used equipment and broken equipment, as Ive seen at other ones. This locations wi-fi is great, no lag or nothing of the sort to report. This location also has a juice bar, which is always manned and ready to either jump start your workout or even it out with protein, in either case, you cant go wrong at this location.

Amazing gym, the hours are pretty terrible though, almost treated like an office..

Wish it was 24 hours and it would be nice if they would just finish and get wi-fi already. Other than that machines are normally all in working order. The only downside I have had to deal with is people who feel the need to bathe in a vat of axe or perfume before working out.

Hello,My guest and I attended the gym in Alsip IL on September 2,2018 at 6:00pm. This was my guest first time attending La Fitness. Robert at the front desk refused the guest pass, saying he had no one there to check her in ect. This is ridiculous my guest drove 30min away to check out La fitness with her guest pass. I had to pay 15 dollars for her. Guess pass shouldn’t be available online if your employees are going to REJECT THEM. I need a manager to call me ASAP! His behavior and attitude was very unprofessional. He was on a personal phone call when we entered the building, and had a attitude once his call had to be stop to help us.
