I’ve been going to Jack for the better part of two years for all my car’s maintenance and repairs. I’ve had a fantastic experience with him, and I’m convinced he’s extended the life of my car. I’ve gotten tires, shocks, brakes, oil changes, and he’s worked one or two major issues with my car. He was able to diagnose and repair all the issues with my car, and his prices are reasonable when compared to the local BMW dealer. He also delivers what he promises. A word of advice, he’s a small shop so it sometimes takes some patience with larger repairs, but they will be done right. All in all, I highly recommend him, and I’m sorry to leave him when I move from the area.

I researched a few auto shops before I came across George’s Foreign Car Service. From my first call with Jack I knew this would be my home for repairs on my car. As a woman auto shops are always intimidating because you never know if people will try to get over on you. I called and spoke with Jack, we set my appointment, I received reminders via text and email and a call up until it was time for my car to be serviced. The reminders were super helpful. I dropped my car off at 12:30 for brakes and was given a pick up time at 4:30 pm. A text message came through just before 2:00 pm that my car was ready! Quicker than BMW!! The price was reasonable and everyone seemed pleasant at the shop! I love great service and rarely ever leave reviews! If you’re looking for an honest, quick and reasonable service for your car, give this shop a try!! This will definitely be my new home for repairs!!! Jack even put my tags on for me!! Jack has been taking great care of my car for years, ever since responding right at close of business to a cold call when my car wouldn’t start and I found George’s Automotive by googling mechanics within walking distance. For several years Ive been a happy customer of Jack Z. at Georges Foreign Car Service. You can trust him to suggest necessary repairs as opposed to those that pad his bank account at your expense. The services are performed right the first time and are done when he promised. I recently had to go to the dealership for a recall and while there, they found an issue and gave me an estimate of $1,020. Because I trust Jack and would rather pay him for the repairs, he fixed it for $191.

First off... Jack was awesome to work with. He was professional, straight forward and knowledgeable about Audis.This shop is busy, but its for a reason. If you can call ahead they will find the time to get you in.I brought my 2012 Audi A7 to Georges on it last leg. Oil had somehow leaked in to the transmission and into some major electrical components. Nothing worked in my car, and I could barely drive it to the shop.After researching the issue it was a common flaw in Audi A7s that usually leads to them being totaled.I worked with Jack and he was able to save my Audi and fix it a fair price. They also fixed some minor issued while they were fixing my electrical wiring.The communication was consistent the entire time they had my car, and I never felt like I was being misled.If you have a foreign car... GO HERE!

I wish I had discovered Georges Foreign Car Service years ago. It was recommended highly by a friend, and I was able to get a variety of long-overdue things done for my 2013 Jetta TDI. Not only was the quality of the work excellent, but I saved over a thousand dollars off what the VW dealer estimated. Jack is a very matter-of-fact and clear communicator, and I trust him to make good recommendations. I will come back to them for my future car service needs and recommend you give them a try.

I have a 2007 Saab and took it previous locations where they couldnt diagnose the issue properly for a check engine light. Took it to Georges, Jack was super friendly and professional. He figured out the problem and called me with what needed to be repaired. He didnt try to sell me on anything and prices were very reasonable. Replaced my ignition coils, sparkplug, and a suspension item. My car is riding better than ever. My husband and I will definitely be going there from now on.

Customer service is awesome, Jack is especially awesome. From our 1st conversation Jack was helpful and honest which means a lot. Being a women I’m always afraid of being taken advantage of so I REALLY appreciated Jack. I ended up delaying my service since my car was acting right ...only to fail on me not long after. I had my car towed to Jack and thi he was booked he tried his best to make time for me. I was on a time frame but Once he realized he wouldn’t be able to fit me in for another week he was straight up and very accommodating. I ended up having to go to another mechanic because of time restraints but I would totally recommend anyone going here. How you handle difficult clients like me lol says a lot just make sure you make an appointment they are booked for a reason!

Clearly, there are many places where you can have your vehicle serviced. Many perform excellent and timely work and it can be difficult to select one.Georges Foreign Car Service is one of these facilities. I would like to relay an incident that deserves superlative-customer-service recognition. Our Audi’s have had great service over the years and one started experiencing oil leakage. The repair estimate was around $2000, but Jack (owner) firmly declared that it was not worth doing based on the car’s age and value (you mean you dont want our money?!). We did not have the work done and instead settled on several first-aid solutions which work to keep oil off our garage floor. And we know we’ll go to George’s if the situation warrants.

The entire experience was top notch. The car went in under “emergency” reasons and Jack diagnosed the issues within hours. The car was repaired and ready in a day (versus the last time the dealer had it for a month and never correctly identified the issues). I have a BMW and am from the San Francisco Bay Area where there are genius private mechanics and you only go to the dealer for warranty work. Since Ive left the Bay Area I have been burned by private BMW mechanics. I slowly grew to trust Jack as he did more and more on my 2007 X-3. He has great judgment and is very careful. Hes very smart, thorough, and up on the latest technology. The more I work with Jack the more I like him. Hes also a very trustworthy guy, nice, and friendly. Excellent service that was VERY customer oriented. Took my 2018 GLC300 for its B1 service. First time not taking a new car to the dealer, but I learned from my research that using an independent garage DOES NOT void the warranty. I learned about Georges Garage from a work colleague who has used them for years. No fancy waiting rooms and lattes, but Im totally OK with that. Very glad I gave them a try and I will definitely be back.

I would echo everything Mr. McCormick said earlier. George has kept my 2001 Z3 running like a Swiss watch for years. I cant count the extra things (like washing the brake dust off the wheels) he does every time I take it in. One more thing: George has apparently passed his genius and work ethic to his son Jack, who is now running the shop, with George helping him. Theyre both great guys and Jack is doing a great job.

Finally, an honest mechanic in Old Town. Did great repair work to my car - actually did more than I asked him to, for no charge - and didnt try to scam me out of $2000 as every other mechanic seems to try and do. Called me twice during the day to make sure I was ok with what he wanted to do, and gave me multiple options each time. Unlike most mechanics, who will say this has to be done, Georges explained that some repairs were important while others were more back-burner issues that I should keep an eye on.Will definitely be back.

This shop is a rather poor neighbor as they regularly encourage their delivery trucks to double park in the bike lane and sometimes leave their vehicles on the sidewalk.

I need to alert fellow car owners to a bad experience I had at Georges so it doesnt happen to anyone else. Ive been to Georges several times before, as theyre the closest shop that works on 70s classic cars like mine. When I go there, Jack usually assess the situation, then gives me a list of parts needed for the repair. I take my car home, order the parts and bring the car back to him when the parts arrive.In June, my classic was running as smoothly as it ever had. It just got a new carburetor and was running and shifting perfectly. Id just done several road trips in the car. I had some more local weekend drives planned, but in the span of a day, my car went from cruising effortlessly to immobilized in my driveway, and all my summer driving plans were put on hold.I brought the car to Georges and asked Jack if he would please check the fluid levels in the gearbox and the rear differential, as I knew they were due. I dropped the car off on Sunday evening, and the mechanics looked at it on Monday. I went back Monday after work to talk to Jack. He told me that a few of the transmission seals needed a refresh, and described the work as easy-peasy. I wrote down the names of the parts I needed, got the keys, and got a friend to drive me back to the shop later. The shop was closed when I returned, but I had the keys to my car, so I drove it home, about 3 miles. The whole way home, shifting was extremely difficult and it sounded awful. The car made an unsettling, loud grinding noise from under my feet. I barely made it home. I called Jack the next day and asked, Whats wrong with my car?I dont know, he said, you tell me.I described what was happening and he claimed his mechanics hadnt done anything but look at it. Ive since had it looked at by another shop, and I now know that they drained the transmission, neglected to fill it back up, and returned the car to me without any oil whatsoever in the gearbox. Had they let me know this, Id never have picked it up or tried to drive it. My gearbox is now fried, my gears worn down to scrap metal, and the repair is going to cost me several thousand dollars. This goes without saying, but my summer driving season is over.Please be careful. I know that Jack has a lot of great reviews on here, and I have had good repairs done there in the past, but this one oversight by him or a member of his staff is going to cost me a lot of money, and the disappointment of not having my car during prime summer classic car driving season. Ive decided Im not bringing my car to Georges anymore.

My wife had a VW check engine light go on;the car also was running rough. The dealership said it will need work totaling $2400. They threw in radiator flush which was just done and a 60,000 mile check up to pad the total. I had the car towed to Georges and the correct diagnosis and work was done with skill and very reasonably priced.Thats not the best part. My Lexus LS 400 was not running well and I had requested to my old Lexus specialist to improve the performance for the last year. It would not go into overdrive when merging onto interstates. The diagnosis was my mat was hindering the gas. This was not even close. When we picked up my wifes VW Jack looked at it and without an appointment, he took my car and greatly improved my performance. I was about to trade it in because it was a 1996. I am so happy with the performance now I will surely keep it at least two more years.The shop is very consumer friendly, professional and very skilled at making your car run optimally.

I have been picking Jack’s brain for a few years about what foreign cars. I finally pulled the trigger on a 2001 Porche 911 Carrera 4. I had Jack go over the car, do a state inspection and oil change. We game planned the service on the car to keep it like new. I have an engineering background and significant repair experience, and I do a large share of the work on my own car (a BMW 318ti), as time permits. Ive done my own brake work, replaced my own suspension, et cetera. I have most of the necessary tools and skills, plus a complete database of the costs of all parts, as well as a couple repair manuals (including the bible, the Bentley manual) for the car. As a result, when I do actually take my car to a mechanic, I know enough to know what an appropriate price is for a given service. I know (and I dont mean Ive done a Google search without actually knowing what the hell Im really looking for) what the parts cost, and I know how long any given procedure should take. I also know when something is done properly, and when it is not.When I say that George is the best mechanic I have ever had, I mean that not only has he always charged me entirely appropriate prices for everything, but I also mean that when hes told me that hes found a problem with something while hes been working on something else, I can trust him— and I do, especially because when Ive stopped by the shop unannounced on my way to or from work while hes been working on my car, hes been able to show me where hes at in the process, the parts that needed replacement, and what other concerns he has about things that may require work in the future.In addition, his work is meticulous (for example: once when I stopped by while he was replacing my clutch, I noticed that he had taken the time to carefully clean the inside of the gearbox— a totally unnecessary extra step for which I was not charged, and that may slightly reduce future wear, but which I would never have known about had I not stopped in), and always of high quality. Plus, hes a really nice guy.In short, I can personally attest to his integrity and to the quality of his work. I recommend him to all my friends (and now, to anyone reading this).
