Went to Steve’s Auto clinic to get my Nissan checked out - Steve was very fair in his assessment of my car. He suggested I not put any more money into my car and I should just get a new car! He did say he could fix everything but I would be dropping some serious cash into a bottomless pit so why bother. Very fair assessment and list all the issues with my vehicle. The clinic looked like some mad scientist workshop- in a good way. You could tell they were serious about their work. Overall I believe this should be the place you take your vehicle for an honest assessment and know you won’t get ripped off. Also highly recommended on NEXTDOOR......So that is why I checked them out.
Im from LA and needed a Pre Purchase Inspection done on a used Ford Raptor. Steve is very knowledgable about Ford trucks especially with known transmission and transfer case issues. The PPI inspection cost around $250, higher than normal but worth it... no one wants to purchase an expensive 6,000 pound paper weight.
Ive been going to Steve since 2008, he has always done a great job fixing my 2005 Nissan Frontier and 2009 Prius. Hes replaced timing chains, bearings, sensors,... Every time his work has been quality, keeping my cars running phenomenal. He always explains what is needed and has never suggested unneeded work. I will always go to Steve, and Id recommend him to anyone needing a quality honest mechanic. Nick Martin
This shop got too many good reviews that they are selective on who they want to helpThe owner or manager has shown greed and refuses to take third party payer and wants direct payment on the spot despite the guaranteed payment from the insurance companyHe would not accommodate your schedule but only his schedule so everything is on his time and his order and you can sit there without car for daysI lost faith in his moral value since he puts his own profit before his customers even if you need the car so badly for work he will not be flexible or empatheticVery harsh in his attitude in hindsight
Steve is fantastic, accomodating and honest. If youve had a hard finding a good mechanic- try this place out, Steves is a keeper!
Steve the owner is truthful and he has taken care of my vehicles for over 25 years!! I wouldnt go anywhere else!!
Completely trust Steve to do a great job at a fair price.
I took my car there this morning for headlight issues. They were honest and awesome! I highly recommend this place.
I think the world of this place and of Steve. Have been going there for several years and am never disappointed. He is honest and does a great job.
I’ve been a customer for years. The most honest mechanic I’ve ever known in 50 years of driving. He often talks me out of having work done if he doesn’t feel I need it. If he does work on your car, it’s because you really need it. And the quality of his work is top notch.
I cant recommend this auto shop highly enough. They are always easy to get a hold of, friendly, they know what they are doing and they are honest about what you really need to do and what you can wait on. After a dealership told me I needed $1200 in repairs I went here on a friends recommendation and Steve told me what really needed to be done and that was almost 2 years ago and my car is doing fine! Thank you so much to Steve and his team.
He maintains my Mercedes ML-550. Steve runs the most consistent, trustworthy, and professional auto service I have found in 12 moves and 24 years of military service. The facade is not impressive; but this is an honest shop with dealership-quality expertise at a fraction of the cost. His extremely loyal customer base validates my review.
Very Dissatisfied and Disappointed with Stevens Auto Clinic, I have been bringing him my vehicles for the past 20 years. Recently I brought in my 2007 ES-350 for a inspection and assessment. Steve listed a number of maintenance items, plus he said that my car was leaking oil from the timing chain cover area. At first, he suggested that I trade in my vehicle or complete the repair that he estimated would costs ($2200 - 2900) and indicated that a further exam (an additional $195) would clarify and confirm the need. Of course, because the seriousness of the claim I said to go ahead with the exam. After it I went to see Steve and the vehicle to get the results. With Steve, under the vehicle, Steve pointed out some discoloration under the carriage in the area of the timing belt. I went to feel the spot with my fingers, and felt no oily, greasy feeling that one would feel if there was a leak. Steve provide no further diagnostics for the oil leak. I asked him whether it could be mud or residual leakage from other fluids being replaced into the car. He said no, and insisted that I had a oil leak that would grow massively within 1-2 years! At this point, I realized that he was talking a potentiality not a reality! Ive told him I am not losing any oil nor showing any spillage on my drive way, but he insisted I had a leak I tried to negotiate a reconciliation with him later but he would not yield. Too bad, now I wonder about other car work he has performed... maybe you should too!
Simply the Best! Straightforward, honest & superior service - been taking all of my vehicles here to Stevens for years and will not go elsewhere. Very knowledgeable and will not try to sell you, highest level of customer service and excellent mechanics!
Really great place! Highly recommend! Theres a reason why this place is so highly rated!
Top notch service. My wife and I think the world of Steve and his crew. They are always polite and speedy. Steve is exceptional - should you have a hard to understand issue with your vehicle, he goes out of his way to explain the issue and helps you understand your options at all cost levels.Steve does not cut corners, so his prices can be high.
Steven and his team are wonderful. For 4 years, Ive used his service and never been unhappy. They give me honest answers, have reasonable prices, and dont try to sell me services for my car that I dont need. Often, Ill take it in for an oil change, and Steven will tell me thats all we need to do if the car is doing fine.
Stevens Auto Clinic has worked on four cars for my family and will be my mechanic for as long as I live in this area. He has always been honest about a problem and very willing to explain what is going on. He has never spoken to me using confusing technical language, but has also never made me feel stupid by talking down to me. I would recommend this place to anyone - go there to for solid advice, pleasantly efficient service and value for money. You are not going to find a better shop, period. Dont think about it, just go!
Very courteous and professional
I really do recommend them. They offer fair prices and do the work well and timely.
We have taken all of our cars to Steve for years. I doubt youll meet a more honest and helpful mechanic! He will tell you if the repair is more extensive than you originally thought. And hell tell you when he thinks you would be better off getting another vehicle.
Stevens Auto Clinic is a great place. Steve knows what he talks about. He is very knowledgeable about all makes and models. He seems very honest and his prices are fair considering the expert service. Here is a pleasant and trustworthy mechanic.
First visit to a local business. Quick, efficient and offered a higher and lower cost alternative for our high mileage teen mobile. I will be back.
I wouldnt take my car anywhere else. Over the years, Steve has actually saved me money. He recognized problems that should be covered by the maker of the car and told me what I needed to do to get it covered. I find him to be very honest, and very hardworking. Im so glad his shop is near where I live.
My family and I have been customers of Stevens for many years. In that time, he has never failed to do the right thing, even if the right thing isnt advantageous to his business bottom line. He stands behind his work and his integrity is beyond reproach. The only times I dont use his services are when I have a vehicle getting warranty work done
Absolutely will NOT trust anyone other than Steve and his folks with any of my cars. Honest. Fair. Reasonable.
I have been going to Stevens for several years with my Honda Pilot. He has the highest level of integrity and has informed me on multiple occasions that I dont need service that was recommended by the dealership. I highly recommend.
We have used Steve for over a decade! He does great work!
Steve and his staff are always knowledgeable, prompt, courteous - and honest. I have brought all of my cars to Steves for several years and will continue to do so. This shop is what everybody is looking for in a neighborhood car repair and servicing site.
Steve is the most knowledgeable and honest mechanic I have encountered. Ive heard it said two hardest people to find are an honest lawyer and an honest mechanic. 1 down, 1 to go. Im not sure if Ill ever find an honest lawyer tho :)Steve knows cars. His 35 dollars estimate fee seems like a lot, but many other places overcharge you during the repairs anyways (like my local Virginia tire and auto shops, and etc). If you want some cheap service where you keep bringing the car back into the shop to save a few buck, look elsewhere, But if you want someone who you can trust with all your family cars, then you dont need to look further. It takes me literally an hour to take my cars to him, but hey, thats how good Steve is. I just wish he was closer to Chantilly!!!
I have a 2014 Countryman and took it to the dealer for inspection. They told me I needed brakes and rotors front and rear. I couldnt believe it and took it to Steves for a second opinion. Turns out I really didnt need them. I am so glad to find an honest repair facility. Ive already told all my friends. Beware of the Mini Cooper dealership in Alexandria.
I had Steves repair my brakes. First they charged me too much i.e. the price was high. $375 for 2 rear brake pad installs. Second, they screwed it up and overcharged me to fix. I had to demand money back but still ended up paying $500 for 2 rear brake pads. Terrible. Will never go here again and recommend you dont either. A simple test drive would have revealed the shoddy brake job. I normally do my own brakes but thought I would go for convenience. Learned a great lesson here, "if you want something done right..." One last minor thing, they lacked the attention to detail to plug the engine light back in. Its a minor thing but shows they dont value quality.
I have used Steve for over 10 years and he has always been straight and more than fair with my entire family. Good service and fair prices.
Ive been a regular customer of Steves Auto Clinic for over 5 years now. I do my own regular maintenance on my cars with oil change, filter, etc. But for anything beyond that I only trust Steve and his capable crew to take care of my cars. Every one of Steves staff is a polite professional and treat you with respect. Steve once loaned me his truck when my car broke down and I had to get a ride to work. That was totally unexpected and something I havent forgotten. Apparently, Steve trusts me with his car as much as I trust him with mine. Steve treats his customers as friends and strives to take good care of every one of them. Hes built his reputation and business on trust and thats a very good long term investment to keep people like me coming back. Thank you Steve!!!UPDATE: Today I spent nearly $4000 in repairs on my car at Steves Auto Clinic.when I first bought the car from carmax 5 years ago, the first thing I did was I took it to Steve to look over. At the time he told me the Cam seals were leaking, and also that the Subaru Baja is notorious for that sort of problem... but he also told me that the repair could wait until the timing belt needed replacement. So, 5 years later I took the car in for that. My car was having other issues too... the CV boots were leaking, it needed new brakes all around, and one of the cylinder head gaskets was leaking motor oil. Plus, there was a rattling noise from one of the exhaust shields. I knew about these problems going in and knew the repairs at the dealership would have cost me LOT more money. Steve and his crew did the work in 5 days, which is amazing and the quality of the work is outstanding. As I have mentioned before, I do know a little about working on cars and I have never spent this much money on repair, but I also couldnt be happier, knowing that its done right and my car will be good for at least another 100K miles. Thank you again Steve, I am a loyal customer.
My wifes car had a break problem, which I consider a safety hazard. It also leaked fluid on the garage floor. Instead of taking the car to our usual mechanic, who is 10 mile away. I took the car to Steves Auto Clinic, which is 1.5 miles away. I told Steve about the leak and the right front break problem. two-hours later, I received a call from Steve who regailed me with all of the mechanical defects they could find. The cost he quoted to fix all of the problems was in excess of $10,000.00 I asked him to fix the breaks and replace the water pump. Steve said that the car needs a timing chain service, for $3,000.00 I called the nearest dealer and was quoted $2,380.00 for the same timing chain service. I also asked the dealer about the breaks and water pump. The dealer quote was $1,280.00 ($600 for breaks and $880.00 for the water pump. All together, the dealer quoted $1,480.00At the conclusion of the Steves Auto Clinic repair the bill was nearly $1,800.00. This included replacing the break-pads, the break system hydraulic fluids and pistons, a right front break rotor and break pads for the left front and turing the break rotor on the left side. The bill for that portion is $950. Replacing the water pump, changing the gaskets and coolant was $740.00My conclusion is this: neither Steve nor his mechanics are worth the money they charge. My recommendation is - look elsewhere to have your autos repaired.
Its a very rare find to find an honest & fair mechanic. Stevens Auto Clinic comes with my highest praise!
Very honest owner.
New exhaust system installed same day on my Toyota Camry. Price could not be beat.
Honest. Fixes problems.
Honest mechanic
