Best mechanic in town. Highly recommend. No BS, fair and honest.

I took my Volkswagon Jetta to have some repairs done from my check engine light being on at Dans automotive, I had read good reviews and was hoping to find a mechanic that was trustworthy- Overall I had good customer service. When they investigated the problem on a catalytic converter code they told me my Coolant hoses needed to be replaced and may be the cause of the issue- which seemed odd because its usually a sensor issue but I am not a mechanic, which is why I went to them. I spent hundreds of dollars to have some hoses replaced only to find a couple days ago my coolant reservoir tank was spraying coolant and completely emptying. I thought the hoses may not have been clamped properly. When I checked the main top hose I realized that the coolant reservoir nozzle had been completely broken off in the hose and was the cause to coolant leaking everywhere. I dont recommend this place and am very disappointed with the lack of care done with my car, will not be returning to them.

Best repair on Porsche anywhere. Our Boxster needed a complicated repair, and even though it took more hours than he quoted to fix it he honored the quote. its also hard to beat their 6-month warranty on all repairs. Very very satisfied!!

Called around noon and expressed that I just purchased an S5 and the door actuator was out and I had to get back to California. They Stated they could get the part and I could make an appointment on Friday (called on Wednesday), but since the part was in their warehouse and available the same day I could leave the car with them and see what they could do to get it done sooner. About three hours after I dropped the car off they had completed the work and the price was just as they quoted. When they stated that they “could possibly” do the work When they were in between cars I was uncertain but they actually did. Amazing! We are always skeptical on finding new businesses especially when it comes to our cars but this team just won mine. Great job Dans Automotive, keep up the good work. Service A+. Work A+.

Best repair shop in New Mexico.

Go to Dan’s if you like dealing with shady work, terrible customer service, and waiting for a tow truck.My VW Jetta TDI broke down and Dan’s automotive was nearby and had good reviews. The car was dropped off on a Friday afternoon and they quickly diagnosed the timing belt and cam sensor as the problem and got parts ordered. I told them to take their time to thoroughly inspect the car and let me know what they find. I got a call Monday afternoon saying the car was ready to go and that I was in luck since the Cam sensor didn’t have to be changed out after all which saved me $200.I picked up the car and had to get my tire patched since it was leaking air. I don’t know if the leak was caused by the tow company or Dan’s. I went to Costco right down the road and noticed right away that the car wasn’t running great. The Costco employees couldn’t get my car to start to get it out of the bay, but I was able to rev it a bit to get it going enough to get me home.I took my wife for a test drive to explain what I had experienced so she could explain it to Dan’s when she took it back in. The car died in an intersection and would not start again. I got the car home and looked to see if there was anything obvious happening. I noticed that there were some bolts missing on my fuel filter housing and the cover to the timing belt had been put back, but not clipped in.I called Dan’s to tell them the car died and was told that “it must be something else then and what kind of maintenance has been done to the car.” They didn’t offer any solutions other than bring the car back in. I got the car towed back to Dan’s at my expense and told them to keep me updated on what they found.The next call I got was to tell me the car was ready, and I would have to pay another $400 since they had to replace the Cam sensor. They never called to get authorization for the work or to inform me of additional costs not covered by warranty. After some arguing about why that wasn’t done during the initial visit, they removed 1 hour of labor to cover the cost of getting the car towed back to the shop bringing the cost down to about $290.I spoke with Dan who was really mad that they had to cover the cost of the tow since “there was no way they could have known the Cam sensor was bad because the car was running” and “we could just start replacing every sensor like they do at the dealership, but we try to save you money.” After some back and forth, I paid the bill so I could put this awful experience behind me.The car was running better this time but died again the next day. I will find another shop to do business with and so should you.

My car wasnt starting one morning so I gave these guys a call since they were near by. They referred me to a tow company and had my car ready to go in about 3 hours at a totally reasonable price. Ill definitely come back.

Ive been using Dans for over 20 years because they are honest, fair, great at what they do, fast and reasonably priced. Mostly though, its because they are honest. A few times other shops have said my car needed x, y and z and Dans has said actually, it only needs y and been right.

Good people to know when you need automotive repairs and services.

2006 Sprinter 2500 started losing power; this would happen when the engine was hot or on a hot day. It would stop accelerating around 40 or other times around 60. No more RPMs, no passing gear, nothing. It would stay at that speed for a bit and then slowly slow down. If I would stop the van and restart then it would go away for a while. Sometime minutes, sometimes hours. Garrett found a firmware update that did not mention any of the system related to this except a small phrase that looked suspicious in the details. He loaded it and BAM, the problem went away. Nice!We bring all our cars to Dans: Sprinter, 560SEL and Toyota. Been very pleased. Years of service.

Dan and Garrett are experts when it comes to troubleshooting and fixing BMWs. They were able to get to the root cause of the issue and provide a solid resolution. Good work isnt cheap and cheap work isnt good. Fast service, clean shop, knowledgeable mechanics. I will definitely do business here again.

I am always treated with the best of everything, respect - knowledge - prices and talent. Garrett and his team are a gift to automotive repair. I have taken my BMW, Dodge Truck, and Hummer to Dans and they always want us to be safe and they are very fair when it comes pricing. They tell me what needs to be done today, what will need to be done in the near future and when you have extra money you should think about... They have your best interest in mind always.

I have taken my Volkswagen Jetta to these guys. They always do a good job, and they are very knowledgeable when it comes to German vehicles. They even fixed a part on my car (minor part) I didnt even ask them to fix, free of charge, which tells me these guys definitely care about me and have a good eye for things that need to be fixed/adjusted. My car has been making a weird loud sound that Ive been concerned with so I looked online and found this place and decided to call because of all the awesome reviews I seen and I decided to call Dans Automotive and was able to go in the next day. I spoke to Garret and he was able to check my car and give me an estimate on my 2007 Mercedes and all I can say is I look forward to doing business with him and getting my car fixed after the holidays! I love taking my vehicles here. They specialize on luxury vehicles but they also do a great job on domestic vehicles. I took my GMC Sierra to them with a check engine light on. They had a few options to go with, they went with the cheaper option first and it worked. Saved me money and fixed my truck. I couldn’t be happier with their service. I highly recommend.

As a combat veteran I love to work on my car. The feeling of fixing it is amazing!!! Every once in awhile I do a job that gives me problems and every time it happens I take my car to Dans Automotive. I took my 19 year old sons 1999 Mercedes Benz that he needed desperately for work to get checked out due to an engine light. I spoke with Dan who was nice he gave me an estimate and I said lets get this fixed so we can register it. I took it in they said this car was a mess but we can fix what we need to get it registered. I unknowing paid $1800 for repairs that had nothing to do with why the cars engine was on. We took it to the City of Albuquerque Emissions Department to get an extension. He tested it and told me it was a leak in the system and gave me the codes. So when I called back to let them know what the issues were and why I paid for things that didnt matter?!? He replied It is what it is and then continued to curse me out and scream at me. He said I call the shots here not Dan!!!! I was shaking and I felt like a fool in tears. I will never recommend this place to anyone!!! Im out 1800 dollars for repairs and labor that had nothing to do with my sons car issues. Because Im a woman I was taken to the cleaners and disrespected.

Dan is knowledgeable about Porsches. He is straightforward, easy to work with and expedient. We put off having our clutch looked at because we dreaded the process, but Dan diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately, plus he had the parts in the next day. Finding a quality mechanic is worth its weight in gold. Were thrilled to finally have one in Dan.

Im from out of state. I bought a 35 year old Benz in Abq and had a friend drop it off at Dans. They checked it over and mad necessary repairs. They were very easy to work with even from far away, communicative and very accommodating despite the unusual situation. When I finally got to Abq, I picked up the car and drove it 2,500 miles without a hitch. Will definitely get my old Benz cared for at Dans next time Im in town.

Horrible and dishonest. All I wanted was my heater fixed. My BMW Z3 Roadster middle console paneling was perfect condition when I took it in and the clock worked great. When I got it back, the console paneling was warped and they tried to glue it on. The clock worked and looked perfect before I took it in. when I got it back it was hanging loosely and did not work. They tried to tell me the console panel and clock were already like that and it wasnt them that broke it. These guys tried to cover up with lies and wont stand by their work. I found out later that they were supposed to take out the entire middle console and not just the panel. Of course the panel would break from them prying it out. They charged me $1400 and now its costing me $1000 to fix what they broke. I believe these are guys taking advantage of women. The owner even called me honey when trying to explain about the console and clock. Rotten business owners. I ended up taking my car to a different place to fix Dans mistakes. They told me that Dans taped the clock back on because they broke the pieces that hold it onto the panel. Ive been advised to only deal with the BMW dealership because they back up their work with waurantee. Dans does not. Do not go to them.

Ive taken my BMW to the dealer and gotten the run around and the hard sell. Not at Dans! These guys are honest and they know their stuff! They were able to quickly and accurately diagnose the problem on my 325Ci and fix it. In the process, they found that I had a water pump on the verge of failure and saved me a headache later. They will recommend preventative maintenance, but will not try to sell you something you dont need. After they fixed my car, they even showed me the parts theyd replaced and demonstrated what was wrong with them. Dans Automotive is where Ill take my BMW from now on.

These guys are awesome. I drove here from florida and my Mercedes developed a problem that would keep me from driving anywhere, much less back home. They could have taken advantage of that, but didnt. They were thorough and honest (I can verify they were honest...I knew this problem would eventually happen and which codes were showing up, but I didnt tell them that ahead of time). They got the parts they needed to solve the problem, but when they realized the first part they installed solved the problem, they stopped installing parts. They even went so far as to order an extra part to keep on hand in case another related error code popped up while I was still in Albuquerque so theyd be ready to help me get home on time.I wouldve paid a lot more money than I did because I had to get back, being stuck 1,500 miles from home. He knew that, but the price was very reasonable: in fact, much less than quotes I received for the same work in Florida.I highly recommend this shop.

Stellar Audi service, took my car to Dans directly from the Audi Dealership Service Dept. in ABQ. I cannot say enough great things about Garret and Dan, absolutely THE BEST service I have ever received. They diagnosed my multiple Audi problems, came in at half the price of the ABQ Audi Dealership and my car was done in a day. Amazing! (This, after my Audi sat at the Audi dealership for over 3 weeks.) There is no better service than Dans Automotive. Every business should be run like this! They may be good ONLY for oil change, brakes or may be just to wash a car. I Took my 2007 Mercedes for a driver side window malfunction and I told them to check the window Module first it may need just the re-programming only. But NO they changed the motor first cost me $250 + labor and when it did NOT worked so they changed the whole window Module another $250 + labor. on the top of it some trim is missing they do not know what had happened to it. Window Motor turned out to be good but I end up with $600 unnecessary extra repair cost. So all Mercedes owner are requested to think 10 times before try Dan`s Automotive on 421 Eubank in Albuquerque. NOT RECCOMENDED AT ALL. Thank you.

On a road trip from Houston to Portland in my 2002 330ci, the check-engine-light came on and the engine provided inconsistent power and even shut off a few times.Not wanting to risk being stranded during a long leg of driving in the desert, I looked up reputable mechanics in the area and found Dans.Garrett, Dans son and one of the head technicians, picked up the phone. After hearing my story, he made some time the next morning to meet.After looking at the codes, Garrett saw the the engine was running lean and ran a smoke test. He cleaned the tubes and replaced the crank shaft valve. They also replaced my air intake sensor which was reading the volumes incorrectly.From there, my car ran well and never shut off for the next 19 hours of driving. This relieved our stress along the road trip.Beyond fixing the problem which was complicated, they get 5-stars because of the level of customer care, knowledge of the problem, and attention to detail. Garrett did a thorough computer diagnostic of the car and walked me through what the readings meant and provided me options. They were honest and didnt scare or tell me I HAD to do anything. Ive worked with some amazing and also not-so-great mechanics from LA to Houston, and I could tell that Dans is a top-notch place with authentic folks who know what theyre doing.The owner, Dan, even gave me a free ride back to the hotel and recommended I check our Sandia peak while waiting. It was a good day in Albuquerque.And as follow-up, Garrett gave me his card and offered to transfer knowledge to my next mechanic once I made it to Portland for some other issues that werent as pressing. I def appreciate this since I am a customer just driving through.Thank you Dans Automotive!

Dan is awesome... I used to live in the bay area.... and ed was always my go to guy...I moved to Reno nv and I drove all the way to eds to fix my car.. I went to many other places down here in reno paid money for nothing getting fix and I said screw it Ill risk breaking down and go to eds... now my car is running how it should and itd clean.. comming to Albuquerque, I drove 45-50 miles all the way now I can go 80 with out car shaking...thanks Dan...

So I called to make an appointment, was asked what I thought was wrong. I told them it could be the transmission or cv joints but it’s making a Whining noise and shifts rough when driving. Was told they don’t work on transmissions even though the website says transmission repair an replacement. So being that this car is my baby, I will take my business else where.

These guys are the ultimate professionals. I took my Audi A4 Quattro took Audi because of oil problems and all they wanted to do was top it off. Later my camshaft seized, and Audi wanted a lot to fix it. I told them that there was a lawsuit against them about a defect with my car losing oil. Still fighting Audi, I decided to take it to Dans, they fixed my car and found the source of my oil issue, an oil pressure sensor that was leaking only while driving. Thanks Dan.

Driving from Ontario Canada to San Diego, CA with my daughter when our 1989 VW Westfalia lost her clutch...I should have made a left @ Albuquerque! In a panic my daughter googled VW specialist and Dans number popped up! She spoke with Garrett, told him the situation and the situation. He said he would call us back if he could source the part. He did. We still had hours to drive that day, so we asked if he could give us priority in the queue. He did. My VW TDI overheated on the highway and I needed it fixed asap to get back on the road. Pulled up to Dans Auto right when they opened as I saw online they work on VW diesels. Glad I found them as they were amazing. Within an hour they had the problem diagnosed, part ordered, and car ready to roll again. The other shops and dealership wanted me to wait four days, Dan took care of it day of. If you want over the top service and great work at a fair price, this is your place. Highly recommended!

I took my 2007 VW Touareg V10 TDI to Dans because the engine unexpectedly lost power. The drive train is complicated, over-engineered, and incredibly difficult to service. It turned out that both turbos needed to be replaced, which required dropping the engine. Dans Automotive did a great job. They were very responsive, honest, friendly, and quick. They didnt charge me anything for the initial diagnostic and literally saved me thousands compared to the repair quote I got from the local dealership. Its hard to find an honest, high-quality repair shop, and I highly recommend Dans!

They have worked on my two mercedes (SL and E) and two BMWs (X5 diesel and gas) and they are far more competant than the dealers, as well as cheaper and friendly. They fixed an EGR problem on the X5 that puzzled dealers in two states. The car was a lemon purchase buyback from the CA dealer because they could not fix the problem. Dans son fixed it. Would not take my german cars anywhere else.

Dissatified! Friendly but not honest. Check light error code 0410, paid over $800 in repairs, less than 300 miles driven error code 0410 is back, returned for warranty ...Here lies the issue, told next repair would be under $500 dollars...no warranty for initial repair! I can and will not take a chance. Looks like a set up to suck more money out of my pocket!
