Budget agent got my rental dates wrong and when I called during my layover to confirm my pickup time, they wouldn’t accommodate the correct pickup date. Customer service left me on hold for 30 minutes while I was trying to correct their error. Ended up renting from Hertz instead. 10/10 recommend Hertz. Definitely avoid renting from Budget lol

When opening the door to this vehicle, the smell of cigarettes was awful. How do you have a sign that says you will charge $250 if find out smoking and then rent it with that smell. I have 3 children that had to smell that and lucky one didnt get sick from it. And windows were definitely not cleaned! Do between trying to get the smell out of the car and cleaning windows before we got to leave, didnt start the trip off great. Good thing was car didnt break down on us.

The agents here will deceive you as I was lied to. I verbally declined both insurance and gas refuel options at the counter, only to find out later that they marked both as accepted in the rental contract that I signed. I should have checked the paper more carefully at the time but I cant believe this kind of deceiving business practices still exists at a major rental company.

The Toyota Mini van (Budget car 94949691) was dispatched to us with front tires that were worn so badly, that they would never have passed a motor vehicle inspection. There was no tread on the inside edges (30% of width) of BOTH front tires. Look close, you will see the lower layers of rubber showing. The other 70% of the tread was down to the WEAR Bars. They were slick, flat rubber Unacceptable condition to ask us to travel in ! The interior of the van stunk like cigarette smoke. We reported these conditions and took exchanged the vehicle ASAP. What a hassle !!! Please refund 66% of our bill, as we were driving a Budget death machine for 2 days. The replacement vehicle was fine.

I have been flying into Albany from Las Vegas for over 20 years. I ALWAYS rent from Budget at the Albany Airport. I like renting sporty cars and they always have something available. They have a great selection of other cars as well. I feel like I always get the best price with them and I have been upgraded several times for very little to nothing extra. They have NEVER messed up my travel plans, screwed up a reservation or not delivered. Thanks Budget! I loved the Dodge Challenger...mi may buy one now :)

Car rental service was good. Left an item in the car and completed a report over the phone. It is impossible to get anyone to respond, just sent around in circles. Because the Albany location is not supported on the website I was instructed to call them directly. I have made at least 20 calls and they have never picked up once.

My husband and I made a reservation on line with Booking.com . Our pick up time was set for 11:30. I realize it is a pain when people come in early. However I am in a wheelchair. Our plane did not get in until 11pm the night before. Our check out time at our motel was 11am. My husband thought he would save me having to go back to the airport so walked to airport and asked if perhaps he could pick up our early. The counter staff was as helpful as a flat tire. They were nasty about him coming in early, they first told him the information he provided was a booking number and that there was no reservation and then miraculously found the reservation. Then after messing around and wasting my husbands time for an hour and a half told him the reservation was at Budgets other location. Needless to say by this time our check out time had come and gone leaving me to gather our belongings by myself while in a wheelchair and sit outside the room and wait for him. Budgets location in the airport in Albany stinks for lack of a better word. Their customer service is lousy. Go somewhere else if you want to be treated with respect.

Everything went smoothly. I was a little nervous because of all the horror stories I had heard about shortages of vehicles, etc., etc. Although I didnt get the car I was told was being reserved (KIA Soul) for me, Ive never driven one so I was looking forward to it. At check in, I was given a no frills KIA Forte, which was ok. It got us where we we needed to go.

First car needed immediate service. Second car had dirty windows, no manufactures book to show how things worked. Car seat in back had rip in and trunk protector was coming lose from body of car. NOT WORTH THE PRICE>

Nobody told me I had to have a ticket leaving Albany on the day of my return or to put the whole thing on a credit card with a did not have it was a hassle to purchase a ticket but I wasnt sure I was going to use and ended up not using. Also the car was filthy on the outside and paint spots all over the inside

Horrible customer service by both the Agent at the desk as well as the manager Steve Schwad. Additionally the agent I spoke to on the phone gave me false information about my rental. The agent at the desk said and I quote “those guys on the phone don’t know what they’re doing, they’re not even in the same country.” The manager Steve insisted that I should of called the location directly (which I tried) and when I informed him that I did try but kept getting transferred to the general reservation line then he proceeded to say that he wouldn’t be able to answer the phone because and I quote “their phones were ripped out and that’s why no one was able to answer”. Never again will I ever give my business to Budget. And I advise anyone who is trying to get any information over the phone to not believe them and go directly to the location.

All was well, car was fine. They took an extra $250 hit upon pick up but promised it would not be charged against my visa. I returned my vehicle at 3pm on day due. They charged me an extra 178.00 or an extra days rental. I had no warning that noon was the deadline. What an ugly rip off. I will warn people about this underhanded scalping.

After a long, tiring drive I returned the Budget rental car to the Albany International Airport lactation and foolishly left my GPS in the center console. As soon as I got home I got on the Budget website to place a lost and found claim, but the Albany location is not listed, so it said to call the location. I did, but no one answered the phone that evening or the next morning, so I drove back to the location. The car I had returned was still there but the GPS was gone, and it had not been turned in. Obviously, whoever serviced the car found it and presumably stole it. I filed a complaint to Budget customer service and received a boilerplate reply advising me to do what I had already told them I did. And, they also reminded me that Budget was not responsible for items left in cars. Never again will I rent from Budget, and I advise everyone to avoid them, especially at the Albany Airport location, because they are thieves.

The rental counter made a mistake on my rental. I had requested to pay for an additional day rental. I was charged for only one additional hour. When I noticed the mistake, I called customer service for assistance on a correction however they were of NO help. In addition to what I was already charged, I would have to pay a change fee and then the additional day rental fee.

The car was filthy. The outside was dirty and the inside had clearly not been vacuumed or even inspected. There was caked on dirt on the upholstery and floors, and a dirty sock in the back seat. Once I turned on the car I saw multiple messages on the dash about systems that were malfunctioning - smart brake, front camera, etc. NONE of this is acceptable but I had no choice at that time of night and had to take the car. I would not rent from Budget again.

We picked up our car after a heavy snowfall and arrived at airport and found the kiosk manned and with fast break got our car and were on the road in 10 minutes. We often use Budget as it is fair priced and cars are always well maintained! A happy and returning customer! Happy New Year and a more hopeful 2021!

My car type was unavailable. I was “upgraded” to a larger car free of charge, but I rented a smaller car to save money on gas. This happens a lot in Albany at the rental car agencies. They always seem to only have one car left. The car I received smelled like smoke and there was a cigarette burn on the driver seat. Other cities do not have this problem. The inside rental counters are closed so in the middle of winter when it’s 26 degrees you have to wait outside to rent your car. I know there’s pandemic, but this really stunk.

When we landed at the Albany Airport it was around 8:30 on a Saturday evening and the Airport was mostly closed down and when we got to the rental car booth near the baggage claim there was a sign saying we should go to the booth in the rental car garage and so we proceeded out to the booth as instructed by the sign. There was nobody in the booth and it was dark and locked up. My wife and I are in our 70s and my wife struggles standing very long or walking very far. After waiting around a few minutes and looking for a bell or phone or something I left my wife alone in the garage and went to another companys booth and asked if they knew anything about it and was told that they did not, then another person came in and was asked and he said that sometimes after about 8:30 the Budget/Avis guys go back inside and are back in an office. I returned to the airport booths and again went to the Budget/Avis booth where no one was to be seen. As I was looking around and rereading the sign sending people out to the rental car garage a voice called to me from about three booths down, at the end. I dont remember whose booth it was but it was not the Budget/Avis booth. When I went down it turned out that there were two men down there, at least one of which worked for Budget. He took care of me and got me the car. It took him quite a few minutes, with a lot of chatting and confusion on car keys etc. while I was constantly thinking about my wife being alone out there in the garage wondering what was taking so long and hoping she was safe, and knowing there was no place for her to sit down or rest a little. We did end up with a nice clean low mileage car as was originally reserved and had no other negative issues or experiences with this rental.

Everything went well until I returned the vehicle. I filled up the tank, but was hit with a refueling fee. I also was never sent a final receipt. I was just charged this refueling fee without notice. I only found out from looking at my statement online. I then had to do extra work to prove that I did in fact return the vehicle with a fuel tank. It felt very intentionally shady on the part of Budget.

Rented a car late night at the Albany, NY Airport location: I got a dirty (chewing gum on the seats), smelling car with worn out tires and no antifreeze for the wipers and that during a snowstorm! Check your cars before you drive off. The agent was nice but incompetent when it comes to car models.

My rental was returned on time. It Never got closed out till 10 days Later. Meanwhile my DEBIT Card was charge another $900 B4 the closeout. A Ms Wells and Ms Brown we’re aware of this issue but chose to send me text book emails. It took my 87 year old father to make 3 Trips to the Airport to get someone to Close Out this rental. You can tell the car was obviously not cleaned or sanitized. The aroma of marijuana was so strong it made me ill. When I made a complaint to the counter they said well theres that car and pointed to a very low-grade vehicle. They wouldnt even write it up or take my concern legitimate. I went to work for two days smelling like a California frat house. Like I said the counter people were very dismissive and didnt really want to do much to correct the situation. I almost wonder if they were the ones smoking the marijuana considering how lazy they were

You need to specifically say that debit cards are NOT accepted at the Albany Airport terminal. It was a huge inconvenience when we booked the car with my wifes debit card, which WAS accepted online, only to find out when arriving that they are NOT accepted. It then took over 30 mins for a solution.

This was our first visit to Albany. The Budget desk was right there at the airport, not miles away on a frenetic van ride. Even though it was a busy time, the staff was quick and courteous. It would be helpful if there were maps available at the counter. The car was as requested and right there in the adjacent garage. The return was at the same spot and was smooth and simple.

A little background I arrived at Albany International Airport in Albany New York at approximately 9:10 p.m. I went to the budget counter where I had a car reserved through Southwest Airlines got the key walked over to the garage the car that the gentleman gave me had body damage the paint missing from the top Hood I put my baggage in the car proceeded to get the car started and it wouldnt start I sat for a couple minutes and try it again and try it again and still nothing I unloaded the car walked all the way back over to the counter explain to the gentleman that the car is damaged as well as it wouldnt start he gave me a key to another car walk over to that car I put the bags in the car again that car had body damage dents scratches open the door there were burnt holes in both front seats it was dirty as I was getting into the car the gentleman that was waiting on me at the service counter was walking towards me and asked me is everything okay with this car. I said here look at this car do you really think I should have to pay $300 to rent this car. I pointed out all the problems with the car and he said well Im sorry I guess I could give you another car I said it is now 10pm, Ive been flying for 9 hours its 22 degrees out and I just want to get to my nieces house he said well Im really sorry for all the problems I wont charge you for this rental I said okay I leave out at 5:30 in the morning will you be here on Monday morning so we could take care of this he said no we dont get in till 9 but I will take care of it.On Monday the 7th of December I return the car with a copy of my contract and written on it I said the agent that rented me the car stated he is not going to charge me for this vehicle please make sure this is taken care of and I dropped that in the box with the keys.On Wednesday morning I checked my credit card statement and I was billed $300 for the car.I contacted Budget customer service the first gentleman hung up on me the next two had no idea what to do about it, the fourth one said that there was nothing they could do about it because it has to be refunded through the agents who rented the car I asked for their phone number for two days straight now, I have been calling that number and it automatically goes straight into customer service I live in Florida I have no way of contacting the Budget Rental Center in Albany and I am very upset with the way I was treated on the phone with customer service reps as well as not being able to get a hold of the direct rental center.I mean come on whats the purpose of having a customer service line if the customer services are not going to help the customer and push them off to the airport rental agent.I have been flying and renting cars for over 30 years and honestly this was the worst treatment Ive ever received from a car company.And if there is something you can help me with and getting in contact with the agents in Albany to refund me the $300 as so stated when I rented it I would greatly appreciate it, but that probably will not happen.

I really think budget is profiling people and charging a deposit by their looks. I prepaid for my vehicle and was expecting a $100 deposit however i was charged $250 plus the money that i had already prepaid for the vehicle. My coworker just did the exact same run that i did and went to budget in Albany to pickup a car and was not charged the same deposit. He called and said i thought you said budgets deposits went up. I dont get it, im a fastbreak customer and he is not. I have been for years. We both work for the same company, use the same corporate credit card and have the same business/corporate code.

USE CAUTION!!! When I booked and PAID for my rental car it was $138 for four days. Got the car and it was nice. It was clean. I PAID for the full tank of gas not realizing they were going to charge me TAX on top of the gas. My flight was changed by one hour and so therefore, I called the number on my receipt and a foreign individual answered. I gave her the key number, she could not find my info. I gave her my name, nothing. I gave her my phone number, nothing! She said I would have to call the rental place directly! I was very frustrated. I dropped off the car one hour later and was charged over $21 for the extra hour. I had picked up the car 1 1/2 hours later than agreed and really had the car for less than 4 days. But I was still charged. For the extra gas, and one hour, Budget charged my account an additional $144. Insane! I paid $282 for four days! Never ever again! This needs to be rectified ASAP and I need to be reimbursed. Never have I seen a 20% TAX on anything except this! NOT GOOD!

The weirdest and slimiest experience I have ever had with a rental car agency. Had reserved a Ford Explorer of similar on line for $72 - total estimate. That included taxes and fees - specified on my reservation note. Showed up to collect the car. No such car. They offered us a Mercedes SUV for a few dollars more. We initially declined but then were told that the Ford Explorer was a rear wheel drive. Really? Ok, so we agreed why not take the Mercedes SUV for a few dollars more. They added taxes, fees, fuel and who knows what else and told us the total would be $290. What? He made a comment about us putting it on a business account, whats the big deal?!?Asked him to show what all the items were that were added. He showed us a touch screen of all the charges but said that we had to push a button to see exactly what the charges are and the fuel cost. We did, the charges were itemized but he turned the screen away from us before we could see the full accounting.At that point, feeling really scammed, we declined the car and left.I checked my credit card charges the next morning and there is a charge for Budge Rent a car for $290! We never signed a thing, and walked away from the counter. How in the heck did they charge anything to our account? Of course the charge will be disputed and I will be calling Budget as well.Beware of Budget Rent-a-Car. The slimiest, worst experience ever.Oh by the way, Enterprise 2 doors down from Budget offered us a car for $80 (total), no bait and switch there.

The car was dirty with dog hair on the seats and carpeting not vacuumed fuel was not full.Also had a bad experience when the key got locked in the car and your remote service could not unlock the car even thought it was equipped to do so. I had to leave the car at the friends house that I visited over night because it took six and a half hours for service to arrive and I had to used his car so I could get to My sons house 50 miles away and then drive back the next day to get the rental car.So I lost the use of the rental car and 20 dollars to use my friends.This being a smart car Im sure how the car got locked.

The old lady( PATTI - This shows on my contract)over there in the counter she has zero experience I guess. In my first experience I’m new to Albany, I have rented a car and had an issue with the car and went for an exchange. The old lady instead of exchange she closed the rental agreement. I need to rebook again and I was waste of money and time.Second experience- I booked a full size car for 30days and went for pickup. Some other person gave me a full-size car. Few days later it has a oil change and went for exchange and the old lady said she can put me on corolla that’s a midsize sedan. There are cars available and even though full size cars are not available she should assign me an upgrade for midsize SUV instead she thought to give me a midsize. I told her that there is a car available in the lot, she was rude for that and said so went for a shopping in the lot and choose the car what you want. I’m new to budget so I’m trying to learn their different policies. I rented two cars this week and all of the agents were very friendly. I was also given an upgrade due to it snowing which was very nice.First car was pretty cool but the second car was filthy and appeared to have blood on the (inside) passenger side door. Didn’t want to complain because It was cold and I only needed the car for one day.When I returned The Vehicle the agent didn’t greet me or ask me how was the vehicle. He took the mileage and sent me to the booth for a receipt. Once I looked over my paperwork I noticed I was Charged a fee for driving under 75 miles !!!! 15.99 !!Went back to the booth to question the charge and he asked me did I purchase gas ? I replied yes, the tank is completely full so He removed The charge. Just be careful and make sure you look over your receipt after returning.

When I got my rental, the clerk at the Albany airport was extremely helpful. He was knowledgeable about the pending inclement weather & services offered by Budget. Despite being a Trainee, as it said on his name badge, his service was prompt & speedy. The clerk upon return of my rental was also efficient and helpful. Despite being unable to get the driver’s seat to a comfortable position for the duration of the rental, this was an overall pleasant experience and would use Budget again when traveling to Upstate New York

The car was in a different spot (B6) than what was written on my paper (B16) so I had to walk around with a ton of luggage in the dark and cold looking for my car. Then when I saw the car in daylight the next day I saw that it was absolutely filthy inside. Dusty, dirty, didn’t smell clean either. Seats were stained. Looked like it had never been cleaned and was borrowed from a sloppy jobless neighbor.

They billed me over double because they checked in my car late. I had to waste and hour of my day to call customer service to get my money back. The odometer reading isnt what I submited. Good thing I took a picture of my documents.Customer service provided a bad email to submit claim. Ive submitted a 2nd claim. I googled this problem and it doesnt seem uncommon at budget. An incredibly unpleasant and unprofessional experience. The employees were fighting with each other the whole time and refused to honor our Premium SUV Reservations. They also argued with us about what wed reserved and actually needed. Unfortunately, this is the 3rd time this has happened in as many years.

The check-in staff is great. There is an older lady who is very sweet. They are quick and precise. Picking up the car is a breeze. Great location. My only complaint is the inside of the windshield has been dirty on my last two rentals. I love the car choices. I would definitely recommend using Budget!

It took around a 1/2 hour or more waiting in line as there was only 1 employee to wait on customers, once I was waited on the procedure went fairly quick. After flying for hours the last thing you want to do is stand in line. The car wasnt clean (inside or out) and smelled of cigarette smoke. The location is understaffed. Its sad the amount charged for renting a car considering the slow service.

Flew into Albany and received the car with no issues. Clean, good gas mileage, and courteous service. At the end of our trip the crew was also very good to us. We had two senior citizens with us and they were very helpful to us.

Got off my flight and went directly to the Budget counter. I was first in line but the counter person, who I later found out was named Patti, had her head down and would not even acknowledge me so I just walked up and gave her my license and credit card. She put them on the counter and said whats your confirmation number. I stated that I did not have it to which replied that she could not help me without it. Well this is the first time in renting cars from Budget that any counter person said that they needed a confirmation number. Also this person had a very bad attitude and appeared that she did not want to be there. I told her that I would look though my email and see if I could find it. While I was doing that she magically found my reservation. I had a caravan rented through Costco but she stated that they had no more minivan and that she was going to give me a Jeep Wrangler. Well that was not going to do since I had six people in my party. She stated that was all they had, basically take it or leave attitude. At this point I ask for a supervisor as I could see that this employee was extremely rude and unwilling to help. The supervisor arrived and I explained the situation to her. She took only 15 mins to correct the problem and I received my Caravan. Now why couldnt Patti do that.The worse experience ever. I also plan on notifying corporate, this Patti needs some serious customer training.

I left a gift card-that was sealed over the visor on the drivers seat side. The card was completely sealed and had $150 in cash in the card. I called within 2 hours of recalling I left it in the car. I had to call 3 different numbers to get any help. I was told to call the location- which I have been doing for 2 days, in Albany NY. They refuse to help, say they are too busy. What is going on??? Then when I try to follow instructions putting my claim number in- it still tells me to call the location. I am no longer renting from this company. Terrible customer service. And my rental was an extra $150-because they were not respectful enough to return what was not theirs!

I was very disappointed this time around. Reserved a compact car 3 months ago. When I landed I was told there were not any available. After waiting and them trying to give me larger cars I finally left 1hr 15min later with a Ford Euro sport. The gas mileage was not what I wanted neither was the height with the high winds driving up and down the Thruway. They told me they could not give me a smaller car because they were not CLEAN. This was not either. Next time I might go back to Hertz, I pay more but I get what I order.

Budget is the best ever. Their cars are clean and easy to pick up and drop off. Their rates are outstanding for what you are asking for concerning a car, and the staff are very helpful and they dont pressure you, they guide you with ease. the most important thing is they let you know of the offers they have for you that would benefit you financial y wise to help you with the rates. My thumps are up for budget.
