This place is dirty! What do we pay the maintenance fee for?! Not only there is mold in the showers, the pipes are regularly clogged in the restrooms. Front desk and manager are rude. Lack of customer service what so ever. Gym’s equipment needs maintenance. For example, there are at least 3 machines that are not fixed for almost 3 months now. The concept of this gym is great, but a lot of improvements needed. FYI: there is $10 membership increase on Jan 1, 2020. Use your own judgment whether you want to sign up.
This is week 5 of this machine being broken. I had previously posted about the stair master being broken and when I wrote a review they fixed it. Since I already brought it up with the staff and they said it would be fixed soon hopefully posting a photo will help. Another machine that is broken with maintenance “coming soon.” Also if you expect to have your “free personal training” don’t expect a call back.
I was accommodated and their staffs were friendly. Good working machines and were highly maintained. Clean bathroom too. Nice place to work out.
This place is such a scam. Never sign up. Absolutely never sign up for any +1 month commitment either, they’ll screw you over completely. Just another place that doesn’t care about you or other people, all they care about is their money. Not worth your time and definitely not your money.
Total Woman and its parent company Town Sports International are among the most corrupt companies Ive ever encountered. They have little to no regard for their actual members and only care about making money. The only reason I kept my membership was because of the instructors who work hard to prep and lead fun and motivating classes, but unfortunately dont have any control of how corporate swindles the members. After one of my favorite instructors quit, presumably because she was also fed up with TW/TSI, I decided to end my membership as well. The cancellation process is so convoluted it honestly shouldnt be legal.Their policy is that the manager must be physically present in order for you to simply request it. Conveniently, the manager is never present during reasonable hours or the weekend, only during the middle of a weekday -- which is really difficult for someone who works an 8-5 job. They encourage you to call in advance to determine if the manager is present before coming. The first time I called, they said the manager wasnt in but to check again In two days. When I called back two days later, they said the manager was in and said shed be there for another three hours. When I arrived at the gym soon after that, she apparently left early for the day. I finally was able to get her in person days after that.It should NOT be this hard to cancel something. They only make it this difficult because they want to keep making money off of unhappy members. Its important to note that this whole in-person cancellation policy is NOT stated in the membership agreement. On top of all that, the cancellation notice period is 45 days, so youll still be paying for 1.5 months of gym membership that you do not even want. This part is actually in the membership agreement, but what happened next was infuriating. After canceling on March 9, the gym closed on March 16 due to shelter-in-place guidelines for COVID-19. Completely understandable, but then why was my account still charged the full months dues on April 1 when the gym is closed? By the time the gym reopens, my membership will have been terminated and I will have paid for nothing. This is my personal experience and isnt even half of it. The stress, anger and waste of money this gym has caused me is something that shouldnt happen to anyone. Unfortunately my experience is not an isolated one based on the several reviews you may have already read here, on Yelp, and the Better Business Bureau. You should also google Town Sports International and class action lawsuit to read about other shady things this company has done and continues to do. Its ironic that they claim to be a safe and supportive place for women to work out when, in actuality, they are taking advantage of women.
I am very disappointed. At the moment, you want to discontinue membership, youll see what could happen. Lady, who work in Alameda as accounting manager will definitely create problems. They charged my account for two extra months, I shouldnt be charged. Location is excellent and I feel sorry this is happening ....
I do not recommend this gym at all. I paid for 2 personal training sessions. I enjoyed the personal trainer, however there really was not any room to workout. I then paid for another session. The personal trainer I worked with, had an emergency and had to take off from work. I asked how long she would be out and was told that they do not know. I requested a refund for the training and was told they would need to speak to Corporate. Why? I was charged for a service that I did not receive therefore refund the money! I spoke with someone at corporate who said they would have to speak with a supervisor. Basically, I am getting the run around. I cancelled my membership, they charged me for the month of April, when in fact I had already paid for the last month when I joined. the worker said I would have to use the facility until June. Unbelievable nerve! This place is a rip off! I never received my one free training for joining the gym either. Please do not patronize this place.
A scam gym. They dont let you cancel even though you are month to month. They charge a cancellation fee of $10 and still bill you a yearly maintainance fee of $70 after you cancelled. To cancel you need to send a certified letter through the mail. After all that they still continue to bill you unless you cancel your cc. A nightmare of a place!
I really want to give this gym a better rating but theres too many things that need to be better. For one I have never heard of cold yoga. Every time I take any of the classes I have to wear a hat, gloves, sweatpants and sweatshirt just to work out. I only have a chance to take off the sweatshirt 15 minutes before the workout is over. The showers have mold on the ceiling and in between the tiles. The ADA shower head doesnt have a hook to hang it on. Only two of the five lights have light bulbs in it where you can dry your hair and put on your makeup. Also every time I have come the internet never works. It says connected, no internet. I have spoken with three different people about this and they each have told me well it works on my phone. Also, its ALL ladies. Why is a bathing suit required in the sauna?
The prices keep going up. It now costs $60 for a basic membership! The gym does not justify the price at all. The gym is small, not a lot of equipment (most of the time you have to wait until someone else is done with the machine), classes always canceled, and I believe it closes even earlier on weekends. I gave it a two stars for being exclusive for women but that is all. BASIC Memberships should be $25-$30 MAX. I wouldnt go here unless you really really value the women only aspect.
Great place to exercise. Staff is friendly, accommodating and very supportive. Best personal trainers I have encountered, particularly Kimberly Ma! I have belonged to fancier gyms/spas and I will still vote this one as my favorite.
Management not representing at all..Customers Matter. Do you need a masters degree or a Phd to know that?Bussineses are all about the customer! I am Cancelling my membership. Management dont have respect for their good workers.. its a nightmare. Enough is enough!
My wife keeps complaining about Studio 3 room where they do Yoga. She says it is freezing cold because the heater is not working. Come on guys, we are living in 21st Century. Get something temporary, at least. It is ridiculous that people have to do Yoga with their jackets on. Thats how you show value to your customers? We are extremely disappointed.
I like that the gym is very clean. The spa, classes, equipment and saunas make you want to come back over and over again. I like that the gym put some thought into one needing a positive emotional experience during exercise.
Best place for group lesson. They do have child care. Best place for ladies only time fun
This exclusively womans gym is FAB; clean, small, personal & machines always available. It doesnt smell like a dirty, sweaty Foot Locker. The Classes ~ Zumba, Yoga, & Stretching (the ones Ive done so far) best Ive ever participated in. Im still new, so will keep posting... if & when necessary If for some reason something even more positive, OR negative happens Ill keep you posted. I should have done this ages ago. goodbye 24 hour fitness, I love my new Fitness Club.
I was a member of this gym for a year and a half. I liked that it was near my house and all women. If you join, make sure you ask for a printed contract before you sign. Do not trust anything sales representative tell you about cancelling or putting your membership on hold. When I went from yearly to month-to-month, I was specifically told by the sales representative that I could cancel any time the month prior, and my membership would end as soon as my prepaid last month was over. When I went to cancel, I was told that I had to cancel 15 days prior to my billing cycle, so I had to pay for another month.Customer service here is nonexistent. The manager is beholden to corporate and has no ability to provide customer service, including refunds for training sessions when a trainer cancels at the last minute. There seems to be a high turnover rate among managers and trainers. There were three different managers while I was a member.I had a personal training package here, and my trainer went on maternity leave before I had finished my sessions. It took a month to set up training sessions with a new trainer.Im currently pregnant and the gym doesnt fit my needs at all. I had six sessions with a trainer, and I told her in two separate emails that I was pregnant and wanted to hear my workouts toward exercises I could do later in pregnancy. She ignored me both times, and gave me normal workouts, then on my last session asked are you pregnant? I dont believe any of the staff is trained to help pregnant women modify their workouts for safety during pregnancy. The gym doesnt seem to be air conditioned and gets very hot on warm days.I would not recommend joining this gym. If you do, read through your contract carefully before signing and dont expect and customer service whatsoever.
It’s a nice gym but I recently had to move to a new apartment that is further from the TW gym. I tried canceling my member ship twice and they still charge me on a regular basis. I even spoke to the gym manager at my last visit and still they charge me. Ok gym but terrible service.
Complete scam. DO NOT SIGN UP. My wife has been trying to cancel her membership for *2 months* and they keep charging us. Its not even that great a gym. STAY AWAY.Update: My wife tried emailing the HereToHelp email TWICE and has not received a response. Is that even a real email address?
If I could give this place no stars, I would. Terrible policies, unhygienic conditions, poor customer service, and even worse run around when you try to get a hold of a manager or district manager. Dont be fooled into a membership here, its not worth the headache.
It’s an adequate gym, until it’s time to cancel your membership. It can only be cancelled during business hours (like, 10-5) and only in weekdays, which is impossible if you’re a commuter with a 9 to 5. After you cancel, they will charge your card for months on end. Horrible, deceptive customer service.
I got to this gym because its really convenient, but its not that will maintained, and the classes keep getting cancelled
Nice gym. staff isnt very friendly.
Horrible gym. Rules only apply to certain people. Classes cancelled often. Gym staff unprofessional. Loud locker room when trying to take peaceful shower and relax. Childrens daycare area very dirty...also only good for young children up to 2 yrs old. My 7 year old was bored since its a small room with nursery age toys. Gym Good for ages 55+. Would never reccomend this gym. Only plus is all women.
Good space to put in work on yourself!
From the outside you would think it would be bigger than it is. But, you really have everything you need inside. Nice for a girl only gym!
I like the gym clean compare to some gyms around, price is right for my pocket and not too far from my home and have the class I needs .👍👍👍
Management is horrible, and they love to overcharge you.
Awful experience with them continuing to bill after cancellation, avoiding contact, and giving the runaround to avoid refunding those bills. Sadly, my wifes (and my) experience is not unique: BBB rating F. Do not let your credit card anywhere near these people.
Even though the entire facility is women-only, for some reason they require swimsuits in the sauna, which is in the locker room area near the shower. This makes no sense at all to me.
Very clean and peaceful environment
Lying Manager who tells you wrong information to get you to sign in and good luck trying to cancel your membership
I was told I can cancel my membership one month prior and when I did they charged me another month and told me I should have done it month and 15 days prior. DO NOT RECOMEND
I love this place, love the instructors.
Very few machines selections for the price. Wasnt too impressed with what they offered.
Why deal with men during woman hours? Work out and get fit with Total woman gym & spa.
Very clean and friendly!🌺✌
Its alright
