We adopted Duncan from WARL over 10 years ago. He was handsome blonde pittie with a stand-offish personality and minor trust issues. Over the years Duncan has evolved into great companion. Hes received his Good Cititzenship Certificate, always gets compliments on his looks / behavior when on walks. We traveled across country, he handled the drive, hotel stays like a champ. We even found out that he is a 100% American Staffordshire Terrier! Duncan turns 13 this year and he is finally slowing down. I know Liz is no longer with WARL but I wanted to thank Liz and the WARL staff for the opportunity to adopt this wonderful dog. Keep doing what you are doing especially for the Pit Bulls as they so often get over looked or are the receiving end of negative publicity. In closing, I wanted to share a couple pictures of Duncan
The animals are very well cared for by kind and compassionate people. The staff are very supportive, and they work together as a team. I was very pleased to find that there were animals going to their new homes, and there was a constant turn over. They have a great web sight that showcases the newest adoptable pets as soon as they are processed in the system. Both animals and people need love, and just to see them interact together is so heart warming.
Everyone is so friendly, kind and helpful there, extremely busy and then we met Sara, who from multiple texts was so sweet and accommodating, she showed us a puppy and a senior dog, so sweet, patient and answered all my questions and I never felt rushed., just a fabulous, clean, well run rescue league and the clean and adorable rooms and cages. Great experience.
Appointments are to be made online and it can be a difficult process because they are so busy but they did message me within a few hrs after sending a fb message. Plenty of parking and staff was super happy to help and answer my thousand questions. They didnt rush so it means to me they really care about the animals...all of them. Adopting fees were reasonable.
They never returned my calls regarding the adoption of one of the cats they listed. We adopted from another rescue shelter. The courtesy of a phone call would have been appreciated. I am hopeful that they do right by the animals entrusted in their care.
Very caring staff. Always answered all my questions. And took very good care of my girls. When one of the girls needed something extrra done for her ears the called and explained it. They were spayed and got their rabies and distemper. Highly recommended.
I went here looking to adopt an emotional support animal followed there procedure booked an appointment to look at two dogs sparkles & Hazel Sarah showed me both animals of the 2 i thought sparkles a better fit, filled out application waited for approval and this dogI excitedly got her registered added home owner ins.(not necessary ESA) bought food treats bed etc got jerked around for 13 days after i provide my paperwork. It was in person they were laughing in the office snd when the rude staff with side ponytail she didnt say her name or have a badge on so...yeah she rolled her eyes at me and dismissively began talking to my pca as if i were not a person.Next visit 2 days later he told them we wanted to wait for Sarah because we had unpleasant experience when she was not there she apologized and said i will be back Tuesday i did not make it in person until thursday because the phone is either busy or u dont get throughWhen i got there in person Sarah said the director was going to review they would get back to me with answer and did not on the day they said they would i had to email leave message etc and when Christine the Director finally call me yesterday day 13. To deny my she said they went with another family. Now i dont know if its because i am BLACK or Disabled i got treated like this!!! But it should not take 13 days for a same day adoption or so they advertise .Unprofessional Rude they did not respond in timely matter .
Clean. Good care. Great hours for pick up and drop off.
So I didnt review when I actually first adopted from these people but I think people need to know. After adopting 2 cockatiels this rescue had obtained a couple of years ago and spending hundreds of dollars bringing them to MY vet (a board certified avian vet) they didnt care to help or do anything (as far as the cost of their health) and only offered for me to return them because I had already brought them to my vet and after that they didnt feel they were responsible. Their amazing VCA vet.. (sorry not sorry that they dont know everything just because theyre a VCA vet) didnt see the initial severe breathing issue one of the tiels had and when I DID bring the tiels back to their vet initially, she still couldnt find the right diagnosis, so I spent hundreds of my own money to bring them to a certified avian specialist. The choices I had from the rescue was to either give them back and they said THEN they would adopt them to someone else after their vet examined them AGAIN knowing full well I was attached to my birds already. They received thousands of dollars in donations alone on top of food and supplies SPECIFICALLY when these abandoned tiels were brought to them. When they had alllll the supplies donated for them (food cages toys etc) and the VCA vet also doesnt charge for her services, then what did the thousands of dollars go to? Obviously not the birds health. Not a professional place at all.
Kind of disappointed. They said theyβd call me and never got a call. My Daughter Really wanted Gregg, Not coming back.
There was a short wait to get someone on the phone, but after I spoke with someone, she was very helpful and I will definitely use them for anything related to my pets.
Kind, caring, and knowledgeable staff. Great experience! Got 2 beautiful cats and would not hesitateto.get more animals there.
I recently adopted a rescue dog from WARL 2 weeks ago. Our experience working with WARL was incredible. The people at WARL are devoted animal lovers who truly want to find the best homes for their adoptable animals. We visited three separate times with our new dog, to make sure if was a good match for him and for us. WARL was so generous that they supplied us with all the pet supplies you could imagine- including food, treats, toys, leash/harness, food puzzles, and blankets. It is inspiring to see how well they take care of their animals and are committed to finding the best home for them.
I called the Worcester Anamil Rescue League today to inquire about adopting 2 bonded kittens. I got a call back from a wonderful woman who answered my questions. She was wonderful. I will definitely adopt from them.
If I could adopt every dog I would. Such a good organization.
I called multiple times to drop off dog food from my dog that passed. Never a callback. I went to the location, an employee was walking inside, completely ignored me. I had to read a sign saying to leave donations in front of the garage door. As a responsible 503c they should send receipts for donations which is not possible with their current setup. I donβt care about the donation receipt, I just hope they treat their animals better than humans
My sister got her fur baby here. Whenever Iβm cleaning my house out I always drink blanket San towels and anything they need. Theyβre so nice and they do great work!
Always enjoy going there. The people are great.
Beautiful animals. I wish I could take them all
Bored my dog with them while on vacation they were great sent pis and updates while they had hime he enjoys it there staff is great
Awesome. I adopted a beautiful cat. They are so wonderful at WARL !!
They were so helpful sharing the poster of my missing cat.
Very nice attentive staff
Im looking to get my second rescue dog from WARL and cant say enough about my first one! Hes literally mans best friend! When you adopt a puppy/dog/cat from them they come with paperwork for a free checkup at the VCA Abbott Animal Hospital. They are way easier to deal with than Sterling...Id recommend them to anyone who is looking to adopt a pet in need of a home.
They were great! I booked an appointment to have my male kitten neutered here. The appointment was a month out from when I called, but that was still much sooner than any veterinarian in my area was booking appointments. I was able to pay over the phone prior to the appointment, they came to my car and got all my paperwork, they were definitely following social distancing without making it feel impersonal. It was $75 to neuter my male kitten, which is incredibly reasonable. I drove about an hour to bring my kitten to this appointment and I would absolutely do it again in a heartbeat.
My wife is a dog person - me not so much. Some internet reviews brought us to WARL, as she really wants a dog and I want to support her. And yes, I expect to be won over by the pooch she picks. Had an unexpectedly pleasant interview and overall low key but delightful experience. Weve since decided that well wait for them to find our rescue dog, (or dogs) as we suspect it will be perfect.
So currently my dog ran away, I was super worried and they were absolutely great about everything the staff was excellent with him he came home happy and healthy.
Love this place. I drop off donations of blankets towels and newspapers. Send catfood and litter and sometimes bring toys collars and leashes when given to me. Awesome people
Adopted a senior cat from WARL and is the best companion ever. Loves to snuggle and watch TV.
I had both my cats fixed here. One female and one male. They were excellent! My male cat ended up having to have an extra surgery, they were very informative, explained everything before they did it. Everything went well. My babies healed up quickly and never experienced any issues. Everyone who works there is very friendly and cares about your animals! Im always recommending WARL any chance I get!
Awesome team and animals well taken care of donate or rescue if you can
The nicest, most professional people Ive ever met. Giving the circumstance!
I find it is run like its their own personal buisness. Not very friendly.
This place is amazing and I cant wate to go back
They do so much good so very well. Ethical, informative, and professional. If you love animals you adopt a rescue.
I adopted a cat from the Worcester Animal Rescue League. The staff was great, courteous and helpful...no pressure either. The place was very clean too. We love our cat and now hope to adopt another kitty to keep him company.
Found our little love Libby here!
Friendly staff great place to buy specially fitted harnesses and leads. Staff took lots of time to ensure a good fit and a happy puppy . Very Covid safe all safety precautions are in place ..
They have a very decent location, clean and well kept. My granddaughter had her 2 Kittens spayed and nutered. All was written up with results, instructions and anything necessary for their recovery and after. The staff were very courteous and friendly. They helped bring animals in, and when done, helped me get them back into my vehicle. I would definitely recommend Worcester ARL to others.
I just love my new kitty. We named him Walker because heβs always walking around investigating everything. Heβs so loving and so much of that love came from the wonderful care he got at the rescue. I canβt express enough how awesome the staff was. Thank you so much!
I called to tell inquire about donating food and the procedure to drop it off as they are only open for visits on an appointment basis only. Sadly, noone answered because I called during closed hours. I was, however, prompted to leave a message and someone would return my call.I was already en route to deliver the food anyway so I pulled in and someone had heard my message and came out to meet me and pick up my donation. All in all it was a great experience!!Thank you WARL for all that you do for animals!!
Great place, I got more than I bargain for .
Who doesnt love an animal shelter? This place is a godsend, Ive been here 20 years ago and still holding up strong. God bless all those loving animals and the people who watch over them.
Amazing people doing amazing things. Theyre willing to help you in any way they can, even through covid.
They are wonderful and nice and great prices
Have been to WARL to donate things. Also, they let me borrow a Have A Heart trap to try to get one of my missing cats. Always a positive experience.
They have the cutest puppies.
Friendly, helpful staff.Explained everything about the animals and you could tell each staff member actually cared for the animals. We adopted a pair of rescue cats and couldnt be happier.
Fun day walking in the fall rolling hills, wish we didnt have to walk so far to get to trails.
Im getting a kitty
Best rescue league and shelter in the area!
I adopted my dog during COVID from Worcester Rescue League- I am amazed of the care my pup got from them. He had a full heath record, de-wormed twice (most of the rescue does only once), he had teeth cleaning and microchipped (according to my vet expensive one). My pup was apparently returned after a short adoption and the first time was a senior stray. They were careful with my screening of my experience with dogs with issues but turned out my dog is the sweetest very protective pup. Thank you for keeping him safe from coyotes!!!
Very friendly people. They took excellent care of my pets!
Great place. Your donations are always welcome
The staff was wonderful and so helpful with all my questions. I made an appointment to meet the dog i was acquiring about and it was what i expected and more.. I would tell anyone looking for a dog or cat to go here, you wont be dissapointed. Im looking to possibly adopt and give that lovely dog a FUREVER home with me. Thank you guys again at the WARL.
My mother has a health problem and had to surrender her 2 cats, a brother and sister that were 9 years old. They were very gracious and were very helpful in getting them re-homed. Very nice people. They can always use donations, so please keep them in mind.
They do such a great job of describing the animals personalities and they have weekend hours so working folks can still have the opportunity to rescue.
VERY HELPFUL PEOPLE
The Staff is Awesome and they care and it shows.
I didnβt get a puppy, but I did visit. I was so delighted with the way take took care of everything and how polite the staff was. Wish they had more puppies but donβt know if thatβs a good wish.
They are always so helpful. I am currently fostering some cockatiels and Holly was super helpful. I also received my rescue Indian ring neck parakeet from them as well. A great organization. These people deserve every donation they get. It goes to the animals and people that help to nurture them back to a normal life.
They are truly dedicated to finding a safe new home for animals in need
I found my best friend! Everyone there was helpful and friendly! They assisted me in finding the best dog for me. Im very happy. They deserve 10 stars!
Place is nice and they do treat their animals nicely as well. I have to knock off a star though because I actually stopped volunteering here because of the way they treat their volunteers. Volunteers are a huge part of any organization and should be treated as such. They do have wonderful fundraisers throughout the year and they promote animal advocacy and well-being.
Great experience with their spay program! Worth the wait, they did an amazing job!!
I had my dog Winston neutered! π’π¬, they put me at ease and he had a good experience, I know because he wasnt upset or ancy coming out of there!!!
Very nice people, okay on the selection of animals. But to adopt a pet like a dog should not be so much. Yes I understand a dog was saved and so much care and comfort and shots and etc was put in and taken care of, but wow. They charge a lot to adopt. They not they only animal shelter that charge a lot and I dont think animal shelters should not charge a lot. But I do understand why they do and Im sure if they did not have to they would not. Otherwise this is such an amazing place. Like I said only problem I had was prices.
96% polite staff.. and the animals are so well cared for that by a weeks time there are purrs n big eyed promise..Take a trip over and just love On those poor animals..
Very wonderful place, very generous. Adopted 2 special kitties today. Thank you WARL!
I have to say that this facility has gotten much better in the past 2 years. The staff is always every pleasant and helpful. My biggest gripe about them in the past is that they cater to the elderly when it comes to finding homes for small dogs. That seems to have changed in the past few years which is nice. i believe it should be a first come first serve shelter. I got a dog in May 2012 from here (a small one) and she is adorable. The facility has dog training classes every Tuesday and Fridays to help get your dog to be perfect. The time is form 4:00 to 4:45 which is hard for most people but the skills and training from the class are well worth it if you can convince your boss to give you the time off. Did I mention that the classes are free for anyone who adopts. They also do monthly training classes for other special skills for the dogs. These classes are on the weekend and for 2 hours each. The prices for an adoption are very reasonable and the dogs are very healthy once they are ready for adoption.
They take excellent pride in what they do. As someone else commented you can tell all animals are very well loved.
They do there best
They were very kind and help with getting my baby smokey cremation
Very Very Happy with the Facility!Very Clean and Maintain!Very Nice and Caring People! As A Pet Owner! They Are Part of Our Family and We Love Them! Its Great To Have a Place to LeaveOur π When We Travel!
I adopted my dog here and they are very friendly and helpful. I went back recently to donate some blankets that I knitted for them and the staff is always very sweet. Its a wonderful place and Im thankful that they do what they do!
Great place to adopt an animal.
Great place to adopt a pet

Good way to help a new pet find a home.
I did not hate it, but I am disappointed. They promised to call me back with the answer to my question regarding spaying my female cats and never called me back as they had promised.
Had a cheap, easy experience getting my kitty fixed here. Much cheaper, than a vet visit, with no compromise in quality. Experienced, dedicated staff. 5 life sized gelatin squids, outta 5.
They do great things for animals
I visited a couple times and it was a bit busy. We were able to get visit with the animals and get our questions answered. They do amazing work. My mom adopted a pet and it was an easy process.
Adopted our kitten here. Such a great place, friendly and informative staff who love the animals. Animals are very well cared for.
They are the best shelter around. I donate only to this place as they are exactly what they say they are and do whatever possible for animals. NO KILLING!
