Came back from vacation to find a kitty health emergency. Called on Sunday AM and was offered an immediate appointment.Appeared 15 minutes early and kitty was seen immediately. One hour from walking in the door, two injections received and blood panel (with no issues) was completed. Kind, super professional staff. Reasonable fees. My Rocky is a very healthy dog. Hes never been to the doctor outside of his annual exam and shots. On Sunday, Rocky became very sick. He was constantly vomiting, and had diarrhea with a lot of blood in it. I called Family Pet Hospital, and they told me to bring him in. He was treated, given medication, and I brought him home. I couldnt get Rocky to eat or take the medicine, so his condition didnt get any better. By Tuesday, I called them again, they told me to bring him in right away. They admitted Rocky, said he would be there 3 days. After 2 days, Rocky was better and ready to go home. Hes been home a day now, and is doing great. The staff has been so great answering any questions I have. The Drs were great too. My special thanks to Dr. Skees

Charged me $1096 for treating a bite wound, and when I decided not to use their services they charged me $75 for an exam fee. The vet tech took my dog to the back as soon as I started filling out paperwork, and I was separated from her the entire time. They did not even shave any hair around the wound to examine the cut properly, which makes me wonder if they even examined her at all. I took her to another vet in Kennesaw and they charged me $160 for the services, including medicine. I was able to accompany my pet while discussing the options. If you love your dog and also value your hard earned money, don’t go here.Edit (in response to owner reply):That’s because my last name has changed since I first visited this vet (which charged $450 for my other dog’s yearly checkup)

We took our pup, Adalynn, there tonight & the experience was absolutely amazing. Our sweet girl was very sick, & even with covid, they let us right in & took our baby back immediately getting her on fluids. The staff just LOVED on her, took turns holding & sitting with her in the back. One didn’t want to let her go! It was so sweet. To go into an ER with your pup is not at all fun but they really went above & beyond. The place is so clean & polished. It’s funny, I feel like a lot of vets over do it with decor (they are remodeling) BUT honestly they could keep it exactly how it is & I don’t even mind! Where it counts is the people & doctors! From the first phone call they were amazing & there was NO wait! Which is just life saving when it’s your dog, you want in immediately. So thankful to everyone there & we will always go back if needed!!!

So many good things to say about this office! The first being that they have secured a future as our vet and a vet we will GLADLY recommend to anyone that needs vet care. Frelinda in the office was the first to greet us, and while she was busy, she made it extremely easy to get checked in and comfortable. The next thing I can say is that Sarah and Hayden were amazing with the animals I saw, and with my baby. Sarah took my report, listened in, and took my boy back to see the doctor. Dr. Thulluri is a phenomenal vet! He worked with me so I could get the treatment needed for my dog. Im on day 2 since seeing them and my dogs symptoms have gotten much better already. I ended up having some questions that they had no issue answering on the phone for me. This office is the place to go if you need vet care! I wont be looking for another vet, they live up to their name!

We needed to get our pup Luke in for a quick vaccine update and they were able to get us in on Easter fast and quickly. the staff and vet were all so friendly and helpful as well! I really appreciate them getting us in and would highly recommend going there to get you babies treated!

We had an excellent experience here. Our pup was in need of emergency assistance so we came to this location where we were helped very quickly. The doctor, Dr. Thulluri, was absolutely incredible. His patience and gentle honesty is exactly what we want when it comes to a caregiver for our pets. The nurse, Ellie, also was very kind and aided the doctor very professionally. Overall, great experience, super happy with this visit and how they treated our pet.

My wife and I took our dog to Family Pet Hospital and are very glad we did. He was barely able to stand or walk and shaking from hip pain. He has consistently been very happy to talk with us, either on the phone or in person, if we have questions or concerns. He has always been conservative in his ordering of tests and procedures. FPH has been begging for me to review them via multiple emails. I wasnt going to, but I dont feel like they deserve a favorable rating, based on my experience. In my personal opinion, they were very rude, I felt like they did not look out for the well-being of my dog, and I really feel like they did not do the right thing.Here is my perspective: I got an odd feeling about this clinic from the start, but since Marley, my familys 7 yr old Yorkshire Terrier had been a patient here before, this is where I took her to get a check-up and her shots this summer. Prior to the appointment, I had noticed some lumps on my dogs belly that looked questionable. I asked the doc to take look at them and which he replied that he examined them and it was just a little pimple. I said No...I really dont think so, they have been growing rapidly over the last month. Supplying exact dates in which I noticed them changing sizes. He continued to blow it off and say it was nothing but I refused to leave it at that. He finally leveled with me, pat her stomach down, and confirmed that Oops! Yes those are in fact mammary cancer. Sheesh...I felt like it was such a hassle to get someone to listen to me.Soon after, my dog went in for surgery - to be spied and remove the 2 lumps that we had identified together at the first appointment. I made it perfectly clear that if there were any more potentially cancerous lumps visible, to remove them as well. I signed a form which stated I agreed to pay $1000 more than quoted if the surgery time ran over what was expected to ensure that everything be done correctly. The staff at the front desk assured me they would do an examination before surgery and remove ALL tumors.The receptionists were not very helpful, I felt...they sent me and my dog home with nausea medicine for the amnesia with no directions on how to use it. Thank goodness for Google. As soon as I was able to, I inspected my dogs belly and what dd I find but another fairly large lump right next to where an incision was made. I thought there was no way the Doctor had missed it - it must be some swelling from the surgery or something. I returned for the post-op and pointed out the lump that was so clearly there during the first operation. Dr Skees confirmed it was a cancerous tumor yet defended himself by saying that he didnt have time to feel the WHOLE BELLY of every dog that he does surgery on before he does it! In this case, her stomach is the size of my hand! This left me flabbergasted. Additionally, I felt like he was very rude and uncaring during our conversation about it rather than being apologetic and trying to make things right.A discouraging conversation and many tears later, Dr Skees agreed to put my dog back under and remove the cancerous tumor that he missed the first time round at no charge. By the time of the 2nd surgery, a 4th lump had formed and I requested he remove it at the same time...He agreed to do so but told me that he would have to drop me as a client since he was not making money off of me. Believe me, I would not have returned to that negligent practice anyways! But the nerve! ...He did the last surgery, cutting my little yorkie open once again and causing her an extra unnecessary month of painful recovery. The suture job honestly looked terrible (I got opinions from TWO vets post-op). Now, there is a big puffy bulge that wasnt there before. Attached is a picture of my dogs belly after I got her back from surgery with the mysterious stomach bulge...I feel like My yorkie has never been the same since, she has been noticeably more lethargic and snaps whenever her stomach is touched where the last incision was made...I understand that this can be due to other factors but... I think you all understand my perspectiveThis has been a nightmare for me and my family. I love my dog; I only want the best for her, and that sure isnt what I feel like I got. Im sure this pain has been excruciating for her, and I feel its so unnecessary. I will never go there again, and I would not recommend this place.

We moved here 3 years ago and based on such glowing reviews we chose Family Pet Hospital as our vet. We have a cat and a large dog. I absolutely love the facility and people there. I have seen familiar faces since we started going, there is minimal turnover. The employees are so genuinely sweet and interactive and nurturing toward our pets. Our dog gets excited when we go because he gets so many hellos and hugs from staff. We board them there a few times a year and I know our babies are in good hands. The vet is wonderful, exactly who you want to be responsible for your pets health. Totally recommend.

Very welcoming staff. Called on short notice when they opened because my dog woke up and could barely walk. They offered to see her within 30 minutes as a new patient. Went straight back into a room so my dog wasnt stuck in the waiting room which made her feel more at ease. The Doctor was very kind and listened to all of our concerns before taking our dog back for testing. Would definitely recommend coming here.

I was looking for a vet for my 3 chihuahuas after moving to Georgia recently and sent an email to the office asking questions about pricing. My email was answered promptly and thoroughly. The visit with all 3 of my babies was excellent. I have one that has severe anxiety and aggression toward strangers after a house fire that we were involved in and the entire staff was so patient and understanding of her situation. I would highly recommend this place - everyone from the office staff to the vet were personable, professional, patient, and kind to my babies!

Where do I start? My cat started showing signs that he couldnt urinate or have a bowel movement on a Friday. We took him on Saturday to our normal vet that was closed because of covid. I found another vet that would not take Charlie because they were too full but after explaining the situation, they said it was an emergency and I needed to get him to a clinic. My wife found Dr Skees and Family Animal Hospital. Dr Skees called me to explain every detail and I said just do what needs to be done. On Monday charlie pulls his catheter out and his urethra is blocked. Another surgery is needed but this time we think it will be too expensive. Dr Skees offers to do the surgery for much less and has monitored charlie for many days now. Dr Skees talked me out of putting Charlie to sleep because he knew there was a chance for him. Im so glad we found Dr Skees and this practice. Thank you.

Family Pet Hospital was an excellent vet. They were always very helpful and knowledgeable. They treated my French Bulldog like part of the family. Unfortunately I moved out of state so I can’t use them anymore, but I encourage everyone in the area to use Family Pet Hospital for their veterinarian needs if you care about your pet getting quality care. By the way, it’s not just a hospital, they treat your fur baby’s every day needs too! :)

I used to use this Vet service.They would not Honor a still Valid Prescription or let me transfer it because I found a better price (Which is against Georgia Law.)I filed a complaint against them with the State.They would only refill my prescription for my Dog if I would bring her in for another checkup.I could understand this if the Prescription was Expired but there was 1 more refill left. They only care about how much they can charge you.

Dr. Skees is simply amazing. The care that this clinic gives to my puppers is above and beyond. I’ve had problems in the past with vet clinics trying to overcharge me and sell me on unnecessary items, but this clinic just genuinely cares about the health of your pet. I cant say enough good things about Dr. Skees and his staff. Ive been in Ga for 6 yrs and this is my 3rd Vet. I feel like Ive finally found a place that cares about my Kitt almost as much as I do. Such a kind, smart, compassionate doctor. I was very impressed with the time he spent with me listening to what I had to say. My only regret is that he isnt a MD, because I would go to such a good man for my own medical problems.

I brought in my puppy for a teeth cleaning. Everyone I had contact with was very pleasant, caring, efficient, and professional. I felt my puppy was in great hands. They took their time to answer any questions I had. The location is 30 minutes from my house but it was worth it.

It took a while to find a vet we trust in around Atlanta (we live in west midtown). We make the drive because we believe Doctor Skees keeps current with the latest in veterinary medicine. He also is very thorough in his explanations and takes great care of our dog.

Absolutely worst vet experience ever. Unethical and lacking integrity. At time of pet visit, he prescribed an anti-inflammatory for my dog. When I asked for a paper prescription, he told me he would not provide a written prescriptions but I could buy through him. When I got home I goggled to see my request was out of line and quickly found that under the AVMA Principles of Veterinary Medical Ethics, to refuse my request was considered unprofessional conduct and was subject to disciplinary action. Armed with this information, I returned to the clinic and again requested a prescription, which he again refused to provide until I handed him the printout containing the above statement. Two days later I was given the prescription. A month later, when I tried to fill it with an on-line pharmacy, it took no less then a half dozen calls to get them to authorize the pharmacy to fill the prescription, after which I received a call from the clinic essentially informing me they would not authorize any other prescriptions and suggested I take my vet needs somewhere else. NO PROBLEM! I would discourage others from using this clinic without asking a lot of questions and knowing what youre getting into.

Dr. Skees has been the constant, highly skilled and experienced vet for our wheatens since 2006.He and the entire staff at Family Pet Hospital help us solve all the nuances of taking great care of our totally loved furry friends. The front desk totally rocks!

Where do I even start? We brought our cat in because she was very sick. We were not really asked and questions about her normal behavior, and made to feel like terrible pet owners for not taking her sooner or for regular visits, which we honestly just can afford. She was very dehydrated, and they did help with that. I felt like the doctor took one look at her a kept jumping to the worst possible conclusions without hearing all the facts. They clipped her claws way too short, and gave her flea medicine without consulting with us first, which wasnt a big deal, BUT if it had been our other cat, he is deathly allergic to most flea medications. First we were told potentially AIDS or leukemia. Then, kidney failure and that she more than likely wouldnt make it through the night. We were there 4 hours, tired, broke, heartbroken and stressed, we had to pay nearly $400, for a pet that we were told had nearly zero chance of being there tomorrow. No real financial options either. I may even be forgetting a few details. I would never recommend this place.Fyi, shes almost completely back to normal, not even 36 hours later. We made a few phone calls to other vets, and were given good advice.

Ive been going to Dr Skees for 12 years. I take both of my dogs there. Hes a straight shooter and a good doctor. I would recommend Family Pet Hospital.

When your pet has allergies and skin rashes - this is the place to go! This vet understands the problems of dealing with a dog that scratches and gets infections -- he offered help in diet consultation, shared his experience with his Airedale, and helped us be able to manage Jacks diet and stay off antibiotics. Great!!

Been going here for years, and its simply fantastic.

Dont take your Pets to them.we paid for the visit for two dogs. They asked us to use tics and Fleas medicine, which they did not have it in stock and told us to buy it from their online pharmacy. It is $55. every 3 months for each dog for me. I can buy that same medicine for $36 online but it requires a prescription. They refuse to write prescription for me even though I paid for the visit. and now they dont want me as a client because I am not buying from their Pharmacy. They are just there for money.

I have recommended Family Pet Hospital to all my friends and acquaintances who have pets. In all the years, in 2 states, Pippa never got as good treatment as she got from Dr. Skees and his staff. When it was finally time to let her go, they were so attentive not only to her well being and comfort, but also to our emotions and concern. I would never consider another vet as long as I live in the Atlanta area - regardless of how far I have to drive to get there.

Wish I could give a negative number as the rating. SO unhappy with this place! DO NOT GO HERE! They are dishonest about their pricing. They bait and switch you. They say they’re going to do things like an IV for your animal during surgery and a laser treatment to help close them up and they charge you for it but they actually don’t do it! SO PISSED AT THIS PLACE.

The short story: The vet is incompetent and anyone armed with Google and perseverance could diagnose a pets problem better than him and you should never waste your money and time on this place.The long story: Our dog was itching severely, to the point of tearing out his own fur with his claws and teeth via scratching and gnawing. He also had a foul smell he has never had before. During the appointment, he asked us little to no questions. He made little if any effort at all to actually diagnose the problem. Instead he barely physically examined him and determined that the mats our dog had built up by scratching incessantly were, in fact, the main problem, that the mats were causing our dog stress, and he could not even begin to diagnose the problem until they were gone. He also said that he was 80% sure that there are also allergies, but repeated that the mats were the main problem, going as far to claim that the mats are making the allergies worse. We had asked earlier if maybe it was mange, and after we pressed him and asked if he could do a skin scraping or anything to try to deduce something, he said that skin scrapings werent that reliable in diagnosing mange because a positive is a positive, but a negative isnt always negative and can sometimes still be positive. He did however say, that he knew for a fact it was not mange because he knew the smell of mange so well that he would be able to tell if it was mange as soon as he walked into the room. He gave our dog an anti-inflammatory allergy cocktail in the form of a shot that would apparently prove that it was allergies if it worked and stopped the itching. He also said that the shot should last for 2-6 weeks. He gave him the shot and we went home and rid our dog’s body of all the mats pulling on his skin. The next day he was a lot better at first. However, he was still scratching. The days following that led to a complete downward spiral until our dog was back at the state he was when we brought him in. In total, the shot that was supposed to help for 2-6 weeks if it was allergies lasted about 4 days before he was exactly the same. We brought our dog in again about 3 days after our first visit explaining that the shot wasnt very effective. The shot that was supposed to prove it was allergies if it worked did not work. Despite that, he claimed that it was still a combination of stress and allergies. He pointed to a couple of very small mats we already knew about, however, we also knew they were not pulling at the dogs skin because we were careful to check. He then claimed that these few tiny mats which were not pulling at our dogs skin at all were still the main problem. Knowing that a foul smell is a symptom of mange, I questioned the vet about it. He then said that the unusual smell our dog has never had before was just dog smell. He also said that it could be the food we were feeding him even though we had changed our dogs food multiple times throughout the last couple weeks in an attempt to eliminate food allergies and none of it had any effect on the smell. I insisted that our dog spends most of his time indoors, that he has never had this smell before, and we had bathed him many times in the past couple weeks. Once again the vet claimed it was just dog smell and nothing to be concerned about. We did not go back, and instead, after it continued to get worse we took our dog to another vet, Highway 92 Animal Hospital, Dr. Barnwell, whom I now fully recommend. After actually asking us questions and 5 minutes of examination, Dr. Barnwell determined it was sarcoptic mange and gave us medication to kill the mites and antibiotics for the infection our dog had developed after wasting time with Dr. Skees and not getting any answers. After our dog needlessly suffered we got the solution to the problem in maybe a total of 10 minutes.For you and your pets sake, never go here.

I have two cats, and we always have great experience at Family Pet Hospital (minus the fact that they scream bloody murder on the way there and back :) ). The staff is very friendly and patient!

Dr. Skees and his staff are absolutely wonderful! The staff at Family Pet Hospital is so helpful and friendly and Dr. Skees takes all the time needed to go over questions and any concerns. He was able to help our severely underweight rescue puppy (Happy) and give us the advice and treatment needed to get our puppy back on track to his normal weight and thriving! Groomer is a disaster...my dog was bleeding from one leg, keratosis was not trimmed as asked, sanitary trim looked like it was done by a novice...wasnt what I expected from a groomer that claims to have 30 years experience. Do not use groomer. Waiting for vet to see pictures of my dog for a full refund, will update then.

Weve brought our dog here for a couple of years for grooming services (Peggy is awesome). When we needed a second opinion before proceeding with surgery, Dr. Skees saw our dog and gave his opinion. Even though he was not our veterinarian, he took his time and gave us so much information. When we needed somewhere to board our pet, we chose this practice because all of the employees seem to really enjoy working here and show so much love for the pets who come through the door. We recently needed our dog to be seen and our regular vet couldnt see us for 5 days - I called and Dr. Skees saw us the next day. We have transferred all of our pets records over and now consider Dr. Skees our primary veterinarian. I love that I can do everything I need at one office and feel like our dog is receiving the very best of care.

You threatened my sister after she posted a review of her honest opinion about how your work is via mail. You hurt our dog that is considered FAMILY. I believe the surgery you gave her has given her a hernia due to the way you stitched her up and another Vet I took her to not only agrees, but was fabergasted by your technique. So if you would like to IMPEDE on our first amendment by sending fake threatening letters ( yes he had his attourney send us a letter threatening us to take down the review!) just know you are brewing up a storm that will not go in your favor. We have pictures of pre post surgery and recordings. At the end of the day GOD will bring this to justice.

We have always taken our dogs to Banfield until we realized how bad they were!!!! Our poor dog Rocko, has had countless ear infections/skin problems and there was never a solution just wanting us to buy product that didnt help, but of course made them money. I came across Dr. Skees on google and with such great reviews I thought we would give him a try. We couldnt be happier!First, his staff is amazing, their customer service is awesome. Whether its on the phone or in person, their service is top notch! They are also great with my boy!Second, Dr. Skees is a great Vet! He is up front and honest with what is going on. I also love that he doesnt push products down my throat. He is more concerned with what is best for the pet and I couldnt thank him enough for that. Thank you so much for being so great with our boy! Cant wait to bring his sister in, because I know you will take great care of her as well!

Dr. Skees is a real doctor. Being a veterinarian is a calling for Dr. Skees, you can tell how much he loves his work because he spend so much of his time outside of work keeping up with the newest advances in veterinary technology. He also has many outside resources available to him. We adopted a rescue dog with a complicated and difficult medical problem and Dr. Skees was amazing. My dogs are always calm during examinations, even though they do not enjoy shots or other necessary treatments.The staff is exceptional too. They have been with Dr. Skees for a long time and are extremely knowledgeable and kind. They make you feel like they love your pet and I believe they do. I highly recommend Family Pet Hospital, and so do Mazzie and Dexter.

First, I have never posted a review on anything before but felt the need after our experience at Family Pet Hospital about a month ago. We have multiple animals and decided to rescue an 8 week old cat to add to our family. We have been using the Family Pet Hospital for two years without issues. We had a schedule appointment at the rescue shelter to have the cat neutered and to fix a hernia, but the cat didnt seem to be doing well and decided we would take him in to see Dr. Skees. To make a long story short my wife signed an agreement to complete the procedure and that we would spend an extra $100 without them having to call us if something went wrong. We never received a call and was told he spent over $1800 but would only charge us $300 more than we agreed upon. When we said no he tried to guilt my wife on all the money he spent and we could make payments (money wasnt the problem). We are animal lovers and would have spent that on our other pets but were not willing to spend it on a cat we just rescued. He then told us to come pick up the cat and our other animals records that we are not to come back...thanks for doing us a favor!! He was such a coward he made his employee do all the dirty work when we showed up and we felt bad. He cared so much to spend all that money to save the cat but had no problem showing the cat the door after major surgery making us scramble for a new vetanerian which we needed to do as the staples came out. Thankfully Trickham Ridge was there to help us and we look forward to years with them. I would not recommend Dr. Skees to anyone as he chose do more work than we authorized, expected us to pay for it and then when we didnt kicked us to the curb.
