Instructor is patient, kind, and endlessly helpful. No matter your experience or speed, he shows total commitment to helping you learn. A really special place. This is a great community no matter your skill level.
Awesome gym to train at! Eric is very patient and teaches thoroughly. Goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the days lesson, sometimes dipping into his personal time after class by explaining further in depth the techniques. Nothing but good Vibes!
Eric’s a excellent instructor and the environment is extremely friendly to all skill levels. I started training about a month ago and have been loving it so far. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking to train
All I can say the professionalism, knowledge and wisdom provided by Eric is one of the top ten I have ever encountered in my life. As a former US Air Force member, I would recommend this place for any adult male or female who would be interested in taking of this journey. The environment is COMPLETELY safe and professional.Best coaching, environment, classes, team mates and proximity from Seattle, Bothell and Everett. What else can you ask for???One thing I can tell you about this sport and place, it totally changed my life, not just to improve my stamina for my runs but also mentally to push myself more, my limits, to think outside the box, and to finally find something to be addictive for (in a healthy way). Dont just take my word, check this place out. It is not a cult lol but it will definitely change your life and will improve anything physically or mentally.
Eric is great coach for advanced and beginners. Everyone at the gym is friendly and welcoming. The amazing experience has made me fall in love with BJJ, 10/10 would recommend!
Eric Da Silva Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a top notch training facility. I travel from Everett passing by many BJJ programs just to attend this one. Eric has developed a great learning environment that is very welcoming to new comers while still introducing new material for the veterans of the class. Everyone in attendance is always so welcoming and friendly! Be prepared to work!
I’ve enjoyed every class since joining this great gym, much to be said for the teaching quality and the community. Always a fun and enlightening experience.Beware, you might be addicted to bjj!
Eric is an incredible coach! I would recommend Eric and this gym to anyone looking to do BJJ. He has a vast depth of knowledge in the sport and a true understanding of how to teach people of all levels.
Wow what can I say, the environment is great! Always kept clean and coach Eric goes above and beyond regular standards of keeping the gym and mat clean. The team feels like one big family that welcomes you in with open arms. They will always treat you with respect, kindness, and will speak with you genuinely about anything. They will even go out of their own way to help you during and after practice. Everyone’s is absolutely amazing and friendly, making the space a lot more lax and friendly to be in.As for the material taught in class, coach Eric does an exceptional job with keeping in mind all details, even the most minimal detail. He will always make sure to go over all the details of positions, transitions, submissions, etc. This way you are able to attain the knowledge you want and need to be the best practitioner you could be. He will always be watching over you in class to encourage you, help you, and assist you with any and all questions you may have and/or anything you might be confused in yourself. coach Eric, in my opinion and experience, is hands down the best practitioner and instructor around because he will always be open and will to help you with personal development and critic you may have of/for yourself.Would I recommend any place else? NO WAY! This is the best place to for you or your kids to learn the sport, art and self-defense of Jui Jitsu. It not only keeps the body sharp but also keeps the mind very sharp as well. Would recommend this place and coach Eric as the instructor to any of my friends and relatives.I guarantee you will be happy that you invested your time and money in this gym and instructor. There is no place better to invest in.
Eric is an exceptional, passionate, and fun coach. He caters to everyone’s goals at the gym as long as They show commitment “Coaching is a two way street”.As a collegian wrestler I tend to take practice pretty seriously so it’s nice to have a coach who can help you crack a smile here and there. If your looking to be skilled in combat, self defense, sport jujitsu or establish a healthy community for your self you’ll find it here plus an awesome coach who embodies the heart and soul of jujitsu.
A true gem! If you are looking for top notch instruction with a great vibe you have found it. My daughter (age 7) has been training with Eric for just over a year. She loves going to class and cant wait to train. Watching her skills progress over the last year has been amazing. Eric truly cares about teaching the kids great technique while making the class fun and engaging. Its a great work out, wonderful for building confidence, teaches them discipline, respect, and great sportsmanship. If you have been looking for a great place for your kids to train you will not be disappointed!
I came into this school with zero grappling experience, Eric immediately welcomed me with open arms. He is passionate about his job and breaks down techniques in a way that is easy for beginners to learn. The gym is spotless. Eric is fanatical about disinfecting the mats and overall cleanliness. This is not just a Jiu-Jitsu gym, it’s a family. No one has an ego or is going to try to hurt you, everyone just works together to get better. All in all, if you’re considering starting your BJJ journey do yourself a favor and stop by the gym. I can’t say enough good things about Eric. You will not find someone with 20+ years of experience and his passion anywhere else.
I visited during a open Matt weekend class. Instruction was clear and concise on a day that wasn’t even focused on instruction. Rolling sessions were great. The blue belts felt like purple belts at every other gym I have visited. The Matt’s were very clean and the space felt welcoming.I wish I lived closer so I could become a member but I will come back whenever I get the chance. This is by far the best jiu jitsu gym I have ever been too.
We love this place! Eric is an amazing instructor who is very passionate about his job, not only does he teach jiu jitsu moves, but he also teaches kids life lessons. My son has so much respect for Eric. I would highly recommend this place!
Nothing but great things to say about Eric and his gym!Eric is top notch in BJJ and a great guy to be around in or out of the gymEveryone I train with here have been amazing! The gym is very clean and safety is top priorityNot just a group of people to hang out with but a family. Come be a part of the fam!
I have trained under Eric for over a year now. Not only does he provide highly detailed instruction and decades of experience, but he is also very passionate about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the passing on of it to his students. Hes very down to earth guy that makes the entry into this martial art very easy for people from all walks of life. The gym has become my second home with a diverse group of students, now friends, all on the journey to learn this special art with Eric at the helm. Stop by the gym and try or watch a class, youll be glad you did.
Such a clean & fun environment. Eric is very welcoming! The training & drills here are 👌🏼On point. I will be coming back every time Im visiting Seattle area. 🤙🏼OSS!
I have trained with a lot of great world class instructors and team, Eric falls right in line with them. Excellent knowledge and even better, excellent knowledge transfer! Its not enough to know a move and show it, but to know and show WHY is important... impressionante!!
I really like Erics classes. Unlike other gym, he dont overlook the conditioning and movement aspect of jiu jitsu which I found useful when picking up new technique. He also breaks down instructions thats easy to understand and is very attentive to his students. The overall vibe of the school is friendly and humble.
I have been practicing BJJ with professor Eric Da Silva for a couple of months and I have to say, this is an amazing place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, as a white belt I dont feel the frustration that every youtube video says that you are going to feel, dont get me wrong you are going to tap a lot but everybody is trying to help you to improve, every roll is a learning opportunity and everybody is going to bear with you.The gym is super clean, the environment can not be better, and the professor has an excellent lineage, he is a three degree (at the moment that I write this review) black belt under Fabio Santos, who earn his black belt under Rickson Gracie (considered by many as the best jiu jitsu figther in the world). People at the gym are really friendly, everybody is helping you to grow and be better, and you see how people get excited when you make progress.Classes are really personalized and the professor is paying attention to everybody, he is always there to help you to correct your form during drills and rolls and always is open to questions. One thing that I really like about Eric is that he is not behind your money, totally the opposite, he helps you to do good decisions about saving money in your bjj gear, even when he works directly with the King brand he never encourage anybody to buy gees from him.I really recommend this place to anybody that is thinking to start bjj.
My son is 7 years old and started attending classes here at the beginning of this summer and have seen a really big improvement both physically and mentally in him ever since. We initially started searching for some martial arts for my son at the end of last school year because he started being bullied by a bigger older kid at school and his self esteem started lowering. One of the main reasons we love Eric Da Silvas classes is that he teaches kids self defence, he not only teaches them the correct technique for the martial arts itself, he also acts out scenarios that will help the children defend themselves against a bigger bully if the occasion were to arise. He does mention quite often that one should try to avoid getting into fights and not start one but if necessary how to block an attack and immobilized a person if necessary. He does all of this in a kid friendly and fun manner that all the kids enjoy. They interact with one another with repect and comradship. If anybody has had a similar issue with their kids or would just love to have fun while learning a really important skill this would really be a great place to start.
After being away from BJJ for over ten years, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to train again with Eric and his tremendous students. Each class is a great workout and the techniques are detailed and very effective! There are no egos here and everyone works together to get better each day. Whether for self defense, conditioning, or sport I can’t think of a better BJJ instructor or team in PNW.
If you are even just thinking about beginning your Jiu Jitsu journey do yourself the biggest favor possible and stop by the Eric Da Silva Academy. When you meet Eric youll quickly realize youre in the presence of greatness and what he considers his success is you succeeding. I didnt begin my journey with Eric/BJJ until I was 46 and it is by far the most rewarding decision I have ever made. DO NOT hesitate or make excuses to get started! Have you met anyone that waited to start school until they were smart? You will get in good shape just by training at the academy. Its an extremely positive/welcoming environment here and no one will expect you to know anything or walk through the door in great shape on day one. Just stop by and tell Eric youre ready to begin your journey and he will take it from there. Its really that simple!
I have trained at EDSBJJ for over 3 years and highly recommend this gym and Eric as a coach. Jiu-Jitsu has been the only sport I have been fully consistent in, and a lot of that has to do with the friendly environment Eric has created at the gym, his love for teaching, and the great group of students who train there. Eric also works hard to promote safety and it’s rare we have an injury on the mat. As a female student, who is also small, Eric has worked with me to find my strengths and he is passionate about teaching students of all levels and athletic ability. I’d especially recommend EDSBJJ to girls wanting to learn self-defense or to anyone who wants to give Jiu-Jitsu a try.
I met Eric Da Silva about two years ago, I knew from the moment I walked in his gym I was making the right decision. Professor Da Silva is a one of a kind instructor and probably one the best if not the best here in the Northwest.
Amazing place to train.Real jiu jitsu .Real deal professor .Proud to be part of the team.Come check it out, you wont be disappointed
So grateful to have found this place. I absolutely love the BJJ conditioning class! Its working out without feeling like youre working out. You use movements/exercises that helps you stay fit and improve on your BJJ techniques. I cant explain it, you just have to experience it. Eric is very welcoming, very thoughtful, he helps the ladies feel empowered and confident in practicing jit jitsu. You can tell hes passionate about his team. I highly recommended taking a class and experience it for yourself. I enjoying getting to know the team and be apart of it.
Deciding to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) was one of the best decisions I made for myself a little over a year and a half ago. In training, I adopted a healthy workout regimen, made plenty of new friends, and improved my confidence on how I would handle difficult physical situations.Having Professor Eric Da Silva as my instructor on my BJJ journey has been a major factor in my growth and unending interest in becoming a strong practitioner. Coming from a legendary lineage, Eric analyzes techniques and offers personal attention to a degree which is rare to find in other academies.Three major qualities which puts Professor at the elite level for students from all backgrounds include his deep knowledge of the art, an engaging personality, and an effective teaching style.See you on the mats!
Erics instruction and ability is world class. He makes high level Jiu Jitsu accessible to anyone who is willing to put in the mat time.
My son was attending class here. He missed some due to other sports as kids play multiple sports. To make up a class he wanted to attend a Saturday, which I was present when asking Eric when the class would be. Eric told him Saturday at 11. All week my son reminded me, and my sister said, no gee on Saturday. His Uncle took him, and Eric seemed upset that he didn’t have his gee on and goes on to say, I have given your family 3 schedules and it’s their lose. Also, saying before you show up to this class you should come to the ones for your age during the week. He had missed Monday’s class and went on Wednesday. Before my sister bought the gee and paid, 2 months she told Eric, My son had other sports as well, which he didn’t say anything about there being a problem. My sister emailed him on Saturday after this happened and no response. If he didn’t want my son to come to Saturday class you shouldn’t have said, you always ask about Saturday and you never come, it’s at 11 and you better be there. I heard this myself, then you turn around and call him out and embarrassed him in front of a group of adults! I’m not impressed, to say the least. This is your karma you have to live with...
World class BJJ found in the very heart of Woodinville WA. Eric is an amazing instructor that I have had the pleasure to train under. With the martial arts world riddled with gimics and cheap tactics, Eric Da Silva Jiu Jitsu is like a breath of fresh air for the enthusiasts of authenticity and style
There are plenty of schools where you can learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in the Pacific North West, but very few with the world class teaching experience, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lineage you get at Eric Da Silva Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy (EDSBJJ).This is NOT a Cobra Kai academy or a shark tank. At EDSBJJ you find an inviting, professional, clean, positive jiu-jitsu school. The owner and instructor is Eric Da Silva, a 3rd degree Fabio Santos black belt instructor that trained and competed in Brazil and San Diego. You also find training partners at all levels that are respectful, friendly, and will help you become a better BJJ practioneer. There is no pressure to compete in competitions, but if you do, you have Erics years of competition experience, and supportive training partners to help you be the best you can be.One of the things I like most at EDSBJJ is the focus of the techniques taught are for protecting yourself. Jiu-jitsu teaches smaller people how to defend themself against a larger attacker/opponent. This is valuable for everyone regardless of age or gender, but particularly important for women and children who are typically smaller. By learning to protect yourself, you learn how to de-escalate situations so you dont have to resort to other forms of force. You gain the confidence knowing you can protect yourself, can control a situation, and can do it in a non-lethal manner. If you question Brazilian Jiu-Jitsus effectiveness, just look at the martial art chosen by military special forces, law enforcement, and competitive mixed martial artist... it has been tested in real life situations and proven to be effective. I also like the many side effects of training jiu-jitsu...physical fitness, confidence, humility, respect, patience, focus, better problem solving, friendship, and peace.Erics BJJ lineage consists of some of the best BJJ practioneers in the world - Count Mitsuyo Maeda > Helio Gracie > Rolls Gracie > Rickson Gracie > Fabio Santos. If you dont know these names already, do a search and you will quickly learn these are some of the best of the best, and the people that helped make jiu-jitsu what it is today.Eric isnt just a practitioner of jiu-jitsu, but is an excellent teacher. One doesnt alway equate to the other. You can meet black belt instructors that are successful competitors, but dont know how to teach. You want to make sure you have an instructor that can teach you solid technique you can use to protect yourself, is positive and patient to help you grow, and looks out for the physical well being of their students so they are healthy and can continue training...Ive found this at Eric Da Silva Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Jitsu Academy, and I highly recommend this school and Eric as an instructor.
Lineage: Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie > Helio Gracie > Rolls Gracie > Rickson Gracie > Fabio Santos > Eric Da Silva > YOU!Eric Da Silva Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has a very welcoming, family environment the moment you step through the door. Whether youre looking for a fun way to get fit for you or your kids, new to martial arts and want to learn self defense, or experienced and looking for an environment to push you to a higher level, EDSBJJ is sure to accommodate your goals in a low-pressure, non-intimidating environment for people of all ages, sexes, and skill sets.Professor Eric Da Silva brings top notch Southern California Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with legitimate Brazilian roots to the Pacific Northwest. I have been training under Eric Da Silva for the past 3 years now and can say with confidence that he is one of the best BJJ Professors in the Washington state. Erics passion for Jiu-Jitsu truly shines through his teaching and his love for this art becomes obvious as you attend his classes. For those starting out in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Erics patience and thorough detail as he teaches makes class a joy and puts newer members at ease if things become overwhelming. Eric knows when to push you to grow and when to dial it back so that you are successful in this journey. Whether you are a tenured BJJ practitioner or completely new to this art, you will be sure to grow and improve under Eric Da Silva. I cant recommend him enough!
