Ed replaced my 26 yo furnace a couple weeks ago. From estimate to install gave me straight talk with no bull, always did exactly what he said he would do. Installed new furnace when scheduled a week later, even upgraded with no extra charge because the model we agreed on wasnt available on that day. He and Cory did a fine job with the install including a re-positioning to accommodate future remodeling.

Ed came out and rescued us on a hot, humid weekend. I really appreciate his responsiveness on a non business day. We had a 3 year old A/C system that was breaking down in several ways. After unsuccessfully dealing with another vendor, we called Ed in for help. Our blower motor gave out, and Ed fixed it. We also had a pretty bad Freon leak that Ed first diagnosed and then fixed. He had to replace our evaporator coil and the service valve outside. Each of these three repairs was done professionally and with care. The parts were under warranty and Ed handled that for me. He was also honest and upfront with the quotes. Of course, I think any A/C repair work is expensive, but I believe Eds rates to be very fair. Ed’s Heating and Air just installed a new furnace, replacing a 22 year old unit. The day prior, Ed was out to diagnose the problem, and proposed several options which included replacing the failed components or replacing the entire unit. He never ‘sold’ to me, and was up front discussing benefits of repair vs replace. I got a great deal on new, the install was done in a timely manner, floors in the house were covered with tarps, and Ed did the installation himself. Anything Heating and Air, give Ed Pelto a call. Is this guy kidding me!?! $100 diagnostic charge, $50 Sunday trip charge. Okay fine but to come to my home NOT diagnose anything (because the pipes were frozen) yet ask for $150. When he was told he was only going to get the $50 trip charge he proceed to say hes not going anywhere and he will sit and wait for 4 hrs until the unit thaws out. Meanwhile charging us $179 per hour!! Almost was forced to call the police on this guy! My kids were home while listening to Ed go completely bananas on my husband.. I would steer clear of Ed!!! A horse is a horse of course of course but Ed is the talking ASS!!

I would definitely recommend Ed if you need work done. We had to replace the furnace in our new home shortly after moving in. We called Ed to look at the issue on the Saturday and he had it fully installed on Monday. Very efficient service and Ed also took the time to explain everything very clearly. Ed took extra time to ensure everything was working fine and even came back that it wasnt too loud.

Additional post Jan 2019: On the coldest night in the past 30 years in MN (-27F), the thermocouple that verifies the flame in my gas furnace failed. I called ED (I woke him up) and he came to my house. He replaced the part and the problem was solved. The next day Ed called me to confirm my furnace was working properly. Ed is the only guy you need for service or replacement. Honest, reliable, responsive.Ed replaced my furnace and AC. A great job, done right, fast, and on the agreed date. I recommend Ed to anyone. He is local and does great work.

Had a furnace that would heat intermittently which at this time of the year is not good. Had my daughter call Ed who responded in two day and fixed the problem. Our AC died on a 90 degree Saturday. Ed tried to give me some tips so he didnt have to come out, they didnt work but it was worth the try. He replaced the capacitor and refilled the refrigerant. It was a reasonable cost for a weekend and he looked at our furnace for free. I now have an air conditioning and heating guy.

He was great, we will us him and only him! When we called he was able to come fast and he really took his time to find out what was happening, He listened to our concerns and discovered we had more then one problem and he told us several ways that we could fix. Not once during the visit did her try and sell us a new air conditioner, he did not tell us the difference between air conditioners: good, better, best. I know this from the last a.c. guy who came to my house and spent 15 minutes trying to sell me a new a.c. unit. he was an honest and hard working guy, and I will only use him.

I first worked with Eds heating over 8 years ago when I built a large addition on my house requiring a second furnace and thought he did a great job, especially since I wanted the furnace packed out of sight in a closet. So when it came time to replace the original furnace in the existing part of my house I didnt even give a second thought as to who I would call and unfortunately for Ed it was also placed in a tight vented closet, so not the most convenient to work on. I was extremely happy that it took only one call and he came out right away to review my project. He did a thorough inspection and gave me my options, which I was expecting to be a lot more money than it was.For 22 years I have been wondering why my furnace never blew very hard and would smell very hot at times. It turns out the installer that the builder used didnt have enough returns for proper air flow and caused the furnace to run extremely hot and not blow very well. I had even put in helper fans in the ductwork I could access to help push the air as I never thought to have someone look at it. I wont do that again! In the end I opted to replace it versus doing several repairs from cooking itself all these years and I cant believe the difference. Ed increased the opening for the return while installing the furnace and now it works like the newer furnace on the other side of my house. 22 years it took me to get it right and I completely regret not calling him sooner or asking him to look at it during the addition project. I had my furnace go out last April and Ed sent his employees over with space heaters until he could arrive to look at our furnace later that day. Ed came later the same day I called and was thorough and explained what was broken, how much the repair would be and answered all our questions. We inquired about putting in a new furnace and the cost associated with the furnace installation. The cost of the repair was about half way to a new furnace and we told Ed we needed to think about it. Ed let us use his space heaters for over 3 weeks while we decided. He installed a furnace in May and I am glad I went with Ed! We needed a new AC this summer. We had three companies come out and give an estimate. Eds estimate was $1000 cheaper compared to the other estimates offered. So we chose Ed. Our ac went out on the hottest day of the year and we had a other company come out first. Their fix didnt even last 4 hours. Google searches 24 hour companies. We called 5 other people who didnt answer before we called Ed, who actually answered the phone. We came out first thing on Saturday morning to look at our system. We ended up needing a new ac unit. I can’t say enough great things about Ed and EJ! I had a horrible experience with a different company that came out for a tune up and my AC ended up breaking. EJ came out right away the next morning to see if there was anything he could do to remedy it, and Ed came out the following day. Ed and his son install a new Furnace for us in April 2017 as wed been having issues with our old one. He was able to install the next day and pricing was very reasonable I thought. Have not had any issues since! Will definitely be using Ed in the future should we have any more HVAC issues.

Overall the service was good but a little disappointing that we paid $100 trip charge even though we live in Woodbury which is same city as business plus $100/hr to look for problem to no avail. He did eliminate many basic possibilities, determined we had weak airflow, and gave us notice that the next items to review would be more extensive in time and cost. Thus we stopped at that point since our unit is old. It looks like another provider would have only charged us $98 for initial trip and one hour review. Ed did work quickly so I did not have a problem with the $100/hr rate.

This review is rather lengthy, but if you plan to spend thousands ofdollars on a new HVAC system for a home you intend on keepingfor some time, I suggest you continue reading.First, some history. We have had a 1989 vintage Amana 80% 100KBTU furnace mated with a 1974 vintage Wards 2 ton central AC unit.This system was in the house when purchased (26 years ago).Our electric bills during the cooling months were outrageous.The winter months were also high partly due to a large finished roomin the basement requiring supplementary electric heat once the outsidetemperature falls below 10 degrees.I have always done all repair and maintenance on this equipment sincewe have owned the house. I was noticing over the last few years someevidence that the heat exchanger was likely going to fail soon. Addthat impending doom to the fact that I was quite aware that theseappliances were costing us a small fortune to operate. It was time toaddress this issue rather than wait until a winter emergency, when wewould be at the mercy of what equipment is in stock and who isavailable to install NOW.I have done research on available equipment and have narrowed itdown to a short list. Now it was time to chose an installer. This wasa real eye opener. I have a strong background in electronics andmechanics, I understand HVAC equipment. I also know how toidentify people with talent and sales people that clearly have onlyvery basic knowledge of the job they perform. Knowing that theperformance and reliability of any HVAC system is 20 percentequipment and 80 percent installer. Choosing wisely is paramount.I had six estimates done, four from local big name outfits, and twofrom privateers. Of the six, only three did a proper manual J loadtest to determine proper equipment sizing. Only two made mentionof the fact that my duct work had some shortcomings that wouldgreatly effect efficiency and perhaps some reliability challenges.One of those was a big name outfit that dismissed this as “no bigdeal, and when can we install”? The other was a privateer thatsaid “you really should address this” That is exactly what I did.Ed Pelto of Eds Heating & AC was the only guy to cover all thesebases and inspire enough confidence to get my business. The otherswere hacks or simply sales people that will sell you anything theycan get away with. Ed and I both played a role in correcting theduct work prior to the equipment arrival. Ed and his son did anexemplary installation and cleaned up after themselves as expectedof true professionals.The end result 1 ½ years later is a house that is far more comfortable,quieter, and no longer requires supplemental electric heat. Cleanerhumidified air and HUGE monthly savings. Our summer bills areabout $130.00 less per month, and the winter months about $70.00less. We also have the peace of mind having 10 years of warrantyand knowing Ed is only six miles away. I’ve had Ed maintain our home HVAC for a number of years, from emergency service to replacing our furnace and ac systems last year. I have found the quality of service and value to be exceptional, and would recommend him to anybody.

Very friendly, local professional who came out after hours the night of calling him to fix our AC. Even came out day after to make sure everything was running well. Id highly recommend.

I have had Ed do work for me in both good times and bad, and he has never let me down. When another outfit told me I needed to replace my a.c. unit, Ed told me he could do the repair the other guy said was impossible. Then, when it came time to do the repair, he discovered that the problem was treatable without the expensive repair! When it comes time to replace the a.c. you can bet Ed will be the only one I call.When I needed my furnace replaced, Ed put a new one in and also did some extra stuff regarding my humidifier that he didnt even charge me for! A week later, the new furnace went out. I discovered it upon my return from being out late on a Saturday night. I called Ed, expecting to get his answering machine (it was 2:00am or so!) but he answered right away. After talking me through a few checks, none of which fixed the problem, he came over to the house at 3:00am on the coldest night of the year. He discovered it was a faulty part, which he wouldnt be able to get until Monday, so he set up a bunch of space heaters for me so I wouldnt freeze. Later that day he checked in and mentioned that he could get a guy to open the parts store, but it would cost me $100. That was a no-brainer! Ed got the part, came on Sunday afternoon, taking time away from a family outing, replaced the part and got the furnace going again, all for free (except the $100 Id already agreed to pay so the shop would let Ed in to buy the part.) My hero!If you want a no-nonsense, honest guy to tell you what your real options are regarding your HVAC needs and help you make an effective decision about repairing and/or replacing, Ed is definitely the one to call.

I have rental properties and always use Ed for furnace and AC repair. I recommend him highly--always answers the phone and gets the job done quick and he wont rip you off.

It was really easy to work with Ed. He showed up on time the same day that I called, and had me up and running the same day after driving around to get the right parts. Highly recommended!

Did a great job on my furnace replacement.

It was 7pm on a Friday night, January 2018, below zero outside. My furnace would not fire. I called the number after searching furnace repair near me and Ed was working on somebody elses furnace while he talked to me. He tried to walk me thru resetting the pressure switch as temps in my house were dropping but I was unable to find the switch, even after he texted me a pic of one. He did show up when finished where he was and reset the switch which turned out to be inside the burner box. He also cleaned out the fresh air intake which had a wasp nest and leaves blocking the screen filter. Ed did tell me rates were higher due to evening but I thought still fair. I would definitely recommend and will call him with any future problems.

I had a furnace stop working at a vacant property I had for sale. I was concerned about the pipes freezing as it was only 40 degrees in the house. I searched for HVAC companies on google and found Ed. He came out right way (after business hours). He diagnosed the issue and even drove about 30 miles away to get the new part. Ed repaired the furnace and got it up and running so a possible pipe freeze up was adverted! I would definitely recommend Eds Heating & A/C!
