This is a nice venue. I imagine most of the reviews come from attendees of events at this auditorium, but I have a bit different perspective as event staff working a show at the auditorium a while back. It’s got a nice location, and the staff here is really helpful. The surroundings are a great beautiful area. While not a retrofitted modern venue, they do whatever they can to help and make the show a great success. :)

R.J. Reynolds Auditorium is a grand old classical revival style building that was built to complement R.J. Reynolds High School as part of an acropolis of higher education that overlooked the West End neighborhood of Winston-Salem --the center of the wealth and political influence in the city at that time. (Wiley Middle School was built nearby around the same time, and also faces the West End.) From the Greco-Romanesque marble statues of athletes in the lobby, to the two seating balconies, to the film projection booth (that was used, as I was told by a elderly alumni, to show Admiral Perrys films when he gave a presentation to the students, shortly after his expedition to the North Pole), this auditorium was built to offer some of the best entertainment experiences available in Winston-Salem at the time. Only the Stevens Center downtown comes close to offering such a luxurious venue.

Enjoyed hearing our new W-S Symphony conductor, Timothy Redmond, tour us through a 50-year annotated history of John Williams film scores! The sound and lighting were made possible by modern additions to this lovely, classic theater by its affiliation with all arts organizations here, not just the high school where it resides.

We came here a few days ago for A night with Crowder we had never been to this venue before. It was easy to get to from Business 40. There are not a lot of parking spots but we got there early and parked in the lower lot. To get to the venue from this parking lot you have to hike up a walk way and then there are about 20 steps. This will lead you right to the front door. There are several handicap spots right outside the front door. There is a lower level and 2 upper levels. This concert was General admission so we made sure to get there early and did not even try to go to the lower level. We got seats in the upper level towards the front without issue. There really isnt a bad seat in the place. We loved how it felt more intimate than an arena show.Leaving the venue we were able to head right to our car and got out easy.

A great place to see any sort of show: play, concert, comedy act. Every seat is a good seat and the small size makes makes every show intimate and nice. The parking can be tricky.

Beautiful auditorium but the seats are too small in the upper levels, especially regarding legroom. Im 511 and I felt like apologies were needed for the person in front of me due to my knees almost cupping their ears. Plus if they leaned forward to get a better view, it was completely blocking my view of center stage.

Rude racist people! I was there for my daughters dance recital on june 1st and the old white lady at the steps entrance inside was rude and racist! There were more white people that were carrying big bags but when the black guy carrying a backpack which was a diaper bag she asked to search it!! Just because people are black does not make them automatically a criminal! White people commit crimes as well! My daughter and my sisters kids will not be returning to Dancers Edge next year! I will not have my kid representing racism!!!

Our Daughter dances with BPAC STUDIO.BPAC puts on their annual presentation of the NutCracker. They had three Wonderful performances this year. R.J. Reynolds auditorium is a great place for this venue. In the past...(and I love nostalgia).. She was with a different studio. They had all their presentations at the Stevens Center in Winston Salem. A beautiful place but in Bad need of updating their seating. When the Center was built seats were smaller and too close together. People were smaller and shorter. I am 58 average. My knees not only touched the seats in front of me I couldnt sit straight. All this to say.. R.J. Reynolds Auditorium, you have my vote.
