I went to work for Overture, the clients are wonderful people. The Director is a caring person but also has to much on her plate to juggle as many facilities as she is juggling. However, the staff demeans clients by saying you are such a good girl, or what a wonderful girl you are being. The Clients are adults . I have also seen staff be controlling with clients. Forcing clients to walk against their will while client says “I don’t want to walk, and you are hurting me “ . When mentioned to the Director it was overlooked. Staff demeans other staff and talks behind their back. Team lead does not have the experience to be in a supervisor position and does not know how to treat clients or staff appropriately.I feel Overture has the right view of how they want clients to grow and to prosper in the community. However, the staff are not trained well enough nor have many ideas on how to create a better experience for the clients to prosper in society. Going to a Library for 2 to 3 hours or a mall does not help clients prosper in community. But helping them get jobs and working with them with a particular job does. Or going to places that teach them how to care for their bodies helps. Recreation facilities, Cooking Classes, Actual Art classes, Dance Classes, Exercise classes, ropes course, laser tag etc...Help the clients Live give them adventures like you would want to have as well.
Under no circumstances would I trust this, aggressively for profit, company to provide services for my loved ones. Their slogan “Your life, Your choice” does not represent the experience me and my loved one had with Overture. Instead, my loved ones wishes and rights were disregarded and violated for the sake of profits.
Holly is the most amazing!!!!
