I hate writing bad reviews but I would highly recommend looking at some other companies, they have no sense of urgency and the work is very poor quality for how long it took to get done. Everyone was very helpful and friendly at first but after I got my estimate the staff was pretty rude and didnt communicate well. I figured they were just having an off time or maybe had some new staff so I just let it go until recently my friend had some mold damage they were supposed to fix and she had the exact same problem!

They have been my contractor since June 16th, 2019 for damage from Hurricane Florence.I believe these photos say enough.

My best friend lives in Wilmington, NC and employed this company for renovations after devastating hurricane damage. She employed them on June 14, 2019. Please look at the pictures to see how the work is progressing while she is STILL unable to live in her home.

I never knew I would have to coordinate bathroom water damage cleanup and remodeling services for my elderly father who lives in Wilmington, over 200 miles from family during this pandemic. The folks at Highland Construction were able to put an immediate project plan together, video conference with me the scope of the project, and coordinate the labor/materials so that my dads bathroom was back in order very timely while following all the safety precautions we now know as the norm. My dad didnt have to lift a finger. Thank you to the TEAM at Highland Construction for expediting this project and genuinely caring about your customer to get the job done right! I will be sure to recommend your services to anyone with the need.

Did mold remediation, charged my insurance $3500 for it and when my contractor came to do an install of my cabinets there was still black mold in the walls. Also they are not transparent in pricing, they wanted me to hire them before they would give me any information of what they would do to my cabinets. What theyll replace it with etc. They even required me to sign a contract to hire them and pay a deductible just to do the remediation.. After talking to my insurance company they returned the deductible because I made it adament that I was not going to hire them to do the whole job. I felt that they were trying to push me into hiring them with little to no information. Anyways after their part of the job was supoused to be complete, my cabinets are getting replaced by the new contractor I hired and we find black mold along the wall where the leak was still there. They made all that money off of my insurance and didnt even finish their part of the job. Really upsetting, thought I would share this! Now I have to pay someone else to finish the remediation as well because they couldnt do their part of the job correctly.

5 stars all the way. everyone at highland has been so professional and went the extra mile. after a flood, Tim G has been with me from start to finish and even made our crazy tight deadline. i am a landlord and being out of state, highland and Time has made this THE most stress-less process ever. THANK YOU HIGHLAND, and especially TIM!

My mothers home suffered extensive damages due to Hurricane Florence. We took her out of town with us due to mandatory evacuations for Carolina Beach. I learned of the damages from her neighbors before we were even able to return to the area. Thankfully a friend put me in touch with Tim Godwin with Highland. Tim responded immediately. I was responsible for overseeing the repair operations due to Moms age and the fact that we had to make the decision to place her in an assisted living facility as she did not cope well with being displaced from her home of 50+ years. Needless to say this was a very stressful time! For many people! Tim was with me every step of the way during the entire process. Professional, courteous and punctual. The entire Highland team are very knowledgeable with the complete insurance claim process. I found the extensive/expensive repair process completely overwhelming to say the least. There were a few hiccups along the way which many times were out of Highlands hands ( I do not recommend EVER having a mortgage with Bank Of America!). However, they were patient and understanding with the Insurance/Mortgagee issues and stepped in to help whenever they were able to do so. If there were any issues I had with any of the repairs, they responded immediately to rectify the situation. I can honestly say that I dont know how I couldve done it without them! I highly recommend their services!

We had our water heater flood our house. Highland was at the house with in just a couple of hours to start mitigation. Great water mitigation team. Wouldnt hesitate to use them again for mitigation. After the mitigation they assumed I would be using them for renovations and wanted my deductible before they ever stepped foot into my house with the structure side of things, they call Project Manager. I paid the deductible because I decided to use them even after my Insurance agent told me not to pay them anything and my insurance told them that as well but they called this a down payment for future work ... Communication was great for the first couple of weeks. After that it was a complete nightmare. I wasnt being assigned to any one, people were telling other people that I was going with another company. While thinking this they never once offered me my deductible back. If you think someone is going with another company, why wouldnt you give the deductible back? A couple weeks later I finally get a phone call telling me that they thought I was going with someone else and they would set up the contract to start work and make me wait another 2 weeks to be assigned to someone and then wait for material orders, contractor set up, etc. I went through the contract and estimates, numbers werent adding up. At all. After the lies, lack of communication, numbers not adding up, questions literally being ignored and not answered at all, etc. I went with someone else. Their mitigation was amazing, dont hesitate to use them for that but the structure leaves a lot to be desired. Take notice that their current reviews are all from their employees. It never hurts to get multiple opinions!

All of their 5 star reviews are from their own employees!! They ruined our beautiful brand new home after a fire “rehab” Horrible customer service and sneaky with their estimates and charges. They subcontracted out almost every job and even told us they “had no idea” who the guys were showing up to work on our home. We discontinued work with them after so much dishonesty and outright shady business practices. We’ve heard many similar stories from others who have dealt with them. There are other legit, hard working companies in town, please consider using someone else for your home restoration and repairs.

Work was done well and in a timely manner.

Nothing fancy, but you cant get a better authentic taco anywhere.

This company is such a joke!!! Save yourself the time and go with another company.
