We adopted a puppy 4/30. Most of the staff seemed rude and uncaring except for the lady who actually helped us adopt the puppy, she was very nice. Not everyone was rude, a couple people were nice. Anyway we adopted her friday 4/30 and she was active and seemed healthy. On Saturday 5/01 she was lethargic, threw up a couple times over night, refused food and water, started to have Diarrhea. We call the shelter and tell them about the symptoms and they asked if we were given information about the parvo outbreak going on in the shelters, something that was never brought up while adopting a 10 week old puppy.. Fearing for parvo we take her to a vet and turns out that she is positive for parvo which is not cheap to treat. I feel like the shelter should be responsible for the vet bills for adopting out a sick puppy that they probably knew had parvo and they never mentioned anything about the outbreak the 2 times we up there for her. So beware if you are adopting a puppy from them, they probably also have parvo.

Don’t ever call them hoping for justice for your animal as they are likely to make them the perpetrator. My cat was attacked by 2 loose German shepherds and ended up being put in quarantine! The dogs got off scot free. The person who answered the phone was rude and the director wasn’t much better. I also left 2 messages for Nikki and she never called back. I am beyond furious! ......Trish HeskettUPDATE...Nikki did return my call the next day and was much more sympathetic than anyone else. While she could not change the outcome, she understood why I was so upset and agreed that at least one thing needed changing. She also said she would pursue the dog issue for which I was grateful. I won’t change the overall rating because of the other people but I am satisfied with her response.

If I can give a zero star I would!!!!!!!! Rude staff answering the phone. Will only release one of two dogs because one isn’t fixed. He used in help breeding for K9 pups. Yes two German Sheppards. Wouldn’t write ticket today but in a few days or so. Excuse me but you owe me a ticket so I can pay the fee to get my dogs out. I shouldn’t have to wait for you when you know I’m the owner who called asking if you have them. I never met a more unprofessional staff until this town.

My cat was taken by a neighbor to this place. They didnt EVEN make an attempt to contact me that he was there, neighbor or shelter for that matter. He had tags on him! Awful place. If youre pet is lost for any reason, please go out there and check. Do not rely on a phone call to them, they will not tell you the truth.

WF is the first city I have lived in where I have had to deal with animal control and have my animals licensed. The process was quick easy and efficient. I had my records, processed the request and issued my dogs license within 5 minutes. The red state shape tag is just the cherry on top. When I adopted a second dog they did her microchip. Super quick, efficient and discounted as I got her license the same day. They have awesome staff that helped me understand the process if my pet were to go missing, they scanned the chip to ensure it worked and answered my questions. Very nice clean place and they host photo events. Which is nice!

Its enough trying to deal with the struggles of this Covid life. When my dog is healthy and happy and they ask you to bring proof with only 3 days notice. Having to LOSE out on work. Then to be greeted so rudly by one of the officers. Poor display. Poor excuse for a shelter. Poor excuse of our city. Absolutely cant wait to move out of their district where my dog can be free of their over bearing attitude and reach.

Had a dog that was dumped and would not leave my yard. Was able to get close to it but he growled at my boys if they tried to go outside. And my small dog was unable to go outside without getting chased for 2 days. Called animal control on Hatton road. They responded and had attitudes because the dog wasn’t aggressive. Very rude.

Staff is super friendly. I went to look at a cat that looked like mine that ran away but sadly it wasn’t him. But they showed me a super sweet cat named Stanley and I ended up getting him. The process took a few days because they need so much documentation, especially if you have other animals in your home. But it was so worth it! Stanley is the best cat ever. I love him!!

We woke up Saturday morning with an adorable boxer puppy hovered on our front porch that was dehydrated, hungry, and very scared. We called the police, then animal shelter, then animal services who helped us with the first step in getting this cute puppy adopted to a good home situation. We were impressed at how nice of a facility it is and the staff very friendly and helpful.

My experience at the animal service location was more than unpleasant. We had lost our dog over the weekend and I found there over the weekend, so we had to wait until the week startedtstarted see about picking him up. I went in on Wednesday, because it was the only day I had off of work to pick up my dog during their business hours. The employee, Diane, was real rude to me and seemed to blame me for waiting so long to pick him up as if I intentionally didnt want to pick him up sooner. I tried to explain my situation and she dismissed me rudely. She asked my age when I talking to her and after I told her how old I was, her whole tone changed as if she looked down upon me. She treated me like I was stupid and immature for no reason, and I didnt appreciate her tone at all. Everyone else was relatively friendly on staff except for Diane.

Completely unprofessional behavior. Staff clearly have little to no knowledge about animals nor do they seem knowledgeable about dogs. Only interested in insulting owners. Do not rescue from them, this is a poorly run rescue, with very unprofessional, rude staff. Administrator has no knowledge of anything as well and was rude.

Rude. It seems like they dislike their jobs. We rescued these 2 dogs from our neighborhood. They were just bones and so afraid. We knew wed be moving soon to a place with a pet limit. So we tried to rehome them but ran out of time. We tried to find a no kill shelter and we reached out to all of the non-profits we could find. But because we were in the city limits we couldnt take them to the humane society. This animal services place was our last option and I really feel like the dogs would have been better off if we just let them go from our back yard instead of taking them to this place There were a few kids that came in and the one woman was so rude... She said watch that dog around those kids and. Im writing this review as Im on the verge of tears because I feel like I just paid for their death warrant. I dont even think they are going to try to adopt them. They are puppies and they are so loving. They just need a family to give love to. And now I feel like they are never going to get the chance because they system made it so incredibly difficult to take them to a place that wont kill them as soon as leave We feel so powerless. we

I called on a Friday requesting an emergency response due to violent dogs outside my neighborhood. My neighbor called me and said she would not exit her vehicle until the dogs were gone because they were trying to attack her from going inside her own home. She had a 4 year old boy with her and stayed inside her car waiting for over 30 minutes for animal control to respond. I also called because by this time they were on my property while I was trying to leave to pick up my 7 year old from school. They assured me they were on their way as soon asap but the next day I hear from my neighbors that animal control actually called the cops on my neighbors! I saw these dogs and the bigger one I would’ve hit with a bat had it gotten closer. I’m not one for animal cruelty but animal control tried to argue that if “you’re not bitten” it’s not an emergency and attacking them is exactly animal cruelty. It infuriates me that we are allowed to protect ourselves if we feel threatened by other humans but not dogs. I doubt 3 of us wouldn’t have called if we didn’t feel they weren’t aggresive but in fact, myself, my next door neighbor, and a neighbor 2 houses over had called animal control. All in the same day. Just to have the cops called on my neighbors for saying they will take the matter into their own hands. We have a 4 yr old, two 5 yr olds, 7 yr old, 9 yr old, and a 10 yr old out here and us adults were scared to leave our stations because of the aggressiveness. Animal control here seems completely mishandled and wants us to get bit FIRST before it’s an emergency instead of doing their job of city workers to HELP others before anything serious happens.

This is a KILL SHELTER. The city spent millions building this fancy new shelter but its not for the animals. Its for the lazy staff who---until recently---couldnt be bothered with adoptions. They forced this job onto the poor Humane Society, a sad, underfunded non-profit that struggles to stay afloat.

A cat showed up on my doorstep last night during the rain storm. It was friendly but I could not let it in my home because I already have a cat and she doesn’t get along with other cats. So the cat had to spend the night on my porch. I figured it might be a cat from one of the neighbors and it mewled all night while it was outside so no one at home got any sleep, especially my cat which was on watch duty the entire night. The next morning I took the cat to my vet to see if it had a chip. It did have a chip and a message was left for the original owner. Since the cat was not a client at the veterinarian that I use, they could not keep it and it was my responsibility. Rather than let the cat loose around my house and possibly have it get lost or injured, I went to Animal Services and was assisted by Angela. Angela was very diligent in tracking down the owners of the cat. We found out his name was Artimius. We learned that the original owner had given the cat away to a local pet rescue who had found a new home for him. We learned that the cat may have had other owners and it ended up at a residence around Sheppard AFB. I live south of Kell Fwy and for the cat to make it to my neighborhood, either it was very lucky or someone intentionally dropped the cat off in the neighborhood in the hopes that it would find a new home (I hope that wasn’t the case). I left the cat at Animal Services knowing that the owner would be contacted and given an opportunity to get him or he would be put into an adoption program. I was later updated by Angela that the owner was contacted and they were awaiting for them to get Artimius. If the owner was unable or unwilling to get him, the original pet rescue was going to take him and find him a new home. I just wanted to say that Angela was very helpful and professional during the entire process.

For a center build on the premise of preventing communicable diseases in animals, they let my dog that I have adopted contract kennel cough and did not even care until I tried to see him when the adoption was final. If they can’t identify it when they are taking dogs out of kennels DAILY and prevent it why are they even open. Next stop reporters and a visit to the health department.
