I chose their bid because Window Dan seemed very knowledgeable and honest about all of the window options, and their bid was very competitive. But, the project has turned into one of the worst experiences of my life.Window Dan has very deep knowledge of the products, and was willing to share insight like which brands he thought had better internal seals or what would resist weathering best.I think this company would be good for a small job like a patio door or a few windows in a rental. I had over a dozen windows installed from Window Dan and it did not go well. It seemed like the project was too big for the labor crew, and too much for Dan to manage. There was too much collateral damage. They got all the windows put in, white pine from Sierra Pacific. Installation was ok. Some windows were damaged from pounding them in. They did not seal the gaps around the windows for days so my house was cold and drafty.I requested a change in stain color which Dan was happy to accommodate as nothing was stained yet. Then things went bad.The guy brought into my home to stain the windows had literally zero staining experience - it was Dans buddy. The stain was applied and left to dry for hours before wiping the stain off, so some of the windows are way too dark. There were unwiped brush strokes everywhere. Stain drips and fingerprints all over the walls and carpets. A big carpet stain spill had obviously been semi cleaned in my bedroom but nobody told me - I found it after they left for the day.Sheridan was staining other windows that day. He bragged about staining with toothpicks and q tips...while doing a rotten job with a foam brush. Overall, the stain job was the most upsetting part of the installation. Its taken over a dozen hours- so far- of my own time to try to sand and properly stain the windows. There were other issues: one window was ordered with the wrong hinge direction. I was assured only 1 window would be out at a time but never was that the case so winter winds ripped through the living room bringing indoor temps down to 50F. Lots of mess I still have to clean up like when the kid (installer) used my shopvac blower to blow the trash and debris into my yard. The same kid collapsed a scaffold against a painted interior wall, damaging the paint. Dan got exterior paint all over my nice ladder, which I didnt even know he borrowed.I drove one of the crew to the hospital because he hurt himself by not wearing gloves. The sun was setting, it was 20F out, and there were still 3 huge windows to hang in the gaping holes, but there were only 3 guys and 2 were going to the hospital, so I drove him instead, knowing one middle aged man cannot get the windows hung alone. In the end, Window Dan is gone but the job is far from done. I have painted 3 of 5 damaged walls. The carpet stains are permanent. Dan left all the interior trim in my garage, half stained. He gave me a credit for not trimming the windows, but I still have to hang lots of trim. I have to buy more tools. I work a couple hours every evening and weekends to finish their job. I scratched some windows removing all the GD stickers.Bottom line: **I should have paid more for someone else to do this job.**Dan- you obviously mean well and want to do right, but you hired sloppy laborers and then bailed on me.Sheridan- good luck. You were my first impression of the company and you didnt appear to have much knowledge of the products.Paul- stick to being an acting coach and dont ever touch a paintbrush again.Update: retracting a star because I was asked to remove this review. This is what I would want to know if I were shopping for windows; I hope it helps someone.

We had Dan the Window Man install a big beautiful picture window overlooking our backyard this past summer. It involved cutting out larger hole in the wall. His crew did a phenomenal job both on the outside and inside of the house. going above and beyond to make sure it was perfect. The window looks beautiful, and we dont regret spending the money. By the way, Dans price was less than half of what Windows by Anderson wanted to charge. We wouldn’t have had the work done if it weren’t for Dan, as lots of companies have a minimum number of windows they’ll do. You cant go wrong going with Dan!

Dan and Sheridan replaced all the windows in my house, the sliding glass door, and the front door, at a very reasonable price. When we later had problems, Sheridan was on the ball and didnt give up until it was fixed. The installers were great as well, and were very happy with our new doors and window.

Dan, Sheridan and their installers are top notch. We had lots of questions and Dan was patient, informative and helpful. He met with us several times while we decided what to do. We ended up replacing windows in our entire house. The windows are great. The whole process was seamless. The installers were organized, professional and hard working. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves as they went. You cant ask for a better window replacement company. They earn my highest recommendation.

Quoted me three weeks. The weekend we were originally quoted for work Dan was out of town and didn’t communicate any sort of cancellation to me or his office. The office had no idea we expected work to be done and no one was scheduled, despite an explicit voicemail saying they were ready to work. After reaching out numerous times asking for updates, all I was told was that “I was on the calendar to be called.” I’m still waiting on the call over a month later.Poor customer service and bad communication. It’s a bad business when the customer is doing all the legwork to communicate, schedule, and PAY for a service and get absolutely no feedback from the company.Dan the Window Man was a waste of time and a waste of energy.

Dan the Window Man has been a reliable and trustworthy local source for replacement windows and doors since 1981! He has tons of material and color options to fit even the most specific of aesthetics. Dan is a straight shooter who is always looking to find the best product considering application and budget. He has replaced many different types of windows and patio doors in my childhood home and they were all installed beautifully. If you are looking to improve the efficiency and beauty of your home, give Dan a call!

Seems to be a nice guy, installers are amazing. HATE my eight casement/picture windows. I was replacing twenty year old windows so the quality was for sure an upgrade, however I wish that I never would have replaced them at this point. I spent a lot of time with Dan trying to understand what window inserts would look like. Dan met me at my house with examples and I then followed up with a visit to their showroom. Never was it explained to me the bulk that these inserts would have. I was shocked upon install to see what they looked like. To the point where their installers had just a couple windows in when I called Dans office to express my concerns about the bulk, lose of glass space, and cranks that float mid frame. I was told he would stop by soon. He came by after all were installed and after expressing my displeasure to him I was told I would have to get used to them and that they would be considered streamlined in Europe. After a few days and my hatred of them growing and feeling sick for the $6000 I had paid, I set up a new meeting at my house to discuss the situation. At that point I had come to the realization that I had lost about 12 square inches of glass per window! 4 top to bottom and 3 side to side. This was shocking to me that it was never mentioned during the meetings prior to ordering. I live in a town home and am connected on three sides of my house. These windows are the only view and natural light I get aside from a skylight and they had just shrunk by 12 each window. When Dan came out again, I had to take him to my neighbors houses to show him the original measurements and confirm the amount of glass that I had lost. He then told me that if I had full window replacement I would regain that glass space and the bulk would be reduced. That would have been good to know prior to purchase and install I would think. After he mentioned he would be giving me a break on a reorder I asked him to give me a quote for full window replacement cause I hated my inserts so much. Before leaving however he made a comment that being in town homes it would be easy for ME to resell my unwanted windows while also mentioning a $20,000+ install he was working on up north, which was beyond irritating because here he was seemingly making me the one who ate costs on this $6,000 project.Later that day I sent a letter to document my extreme displeasure in my windows and realization that I was now expected to carry the cost of new ones and sell the old ones myself. I was told not to worry and to wait for the new bid and to also expect a break from him on install to whoever I might be able to sell my windows to.I soon received a bid of $9000 to replace my $6000 despised inserts. Meanwhile, even though Im not a window contractor who would have access to people who might be in need of windows, I myself contacted people in my neighborhood about them getting reduced priced window inserts with no responses. During this time the second half of my payment for my inserts were due and after paying in full Dan went silent. I emailed about warranty transfer to make sure that was the case to sweeten the deal for others and never got a response. I have never heard from him again. At this point I wish I would have kept my twenty year old windows. I get sick whenever I think of this whole experience and wish-wash back and forth on just taking them out and attempting to install my own self ordered windows and trying to sell the inserts online. If there had been more of an attempt to work with me on costs and overall with this issue Dan would have come out ahead given that I had three separate home owner approach me about recommends on window install after. Certainly would not recommend him however. I do have a vinyl slider window that was installed in the basement which I am happy with.

Dan installed new windows in my 1895 Victorian house and what a difference they made! They actually open and close (I know, this is basic, but if you have older windows, you get this), they are easy to clean and our home is so much quieter now. The curtains dont rustle and the windows dont rattle when the wind blows. The furnace is not running as much. I could go on and on. Dans prices were well below the other bids I got. I like that he doesnt try to upsell you. He offers good, better and best and lets you decide. He also offers many brands to choose from. He put a lot of energy into making sure I was happy. I give him two thumbs up!

February 2019:Dan is very quick at getting the process started, he has good ideas and seems to be knowledgeable about windows, but everything goes down hill after you order from him. I started the process with Dan to replace 4 windows on the front of my house in mid-2014, Dan took all the measurements and ordered the windows. Dan called once he received the windows and scheduled the install. My wife was home at the time of the install. Once they were done my wife questioned the 2 hideous trim around the windows. The installers said that was normal. When I got home, I looked them over and agreed with my wife and also noticed the windows had the wrong hardware on them. I contacted Dan and he came out the following week. Dan agreed that the wrong hardware was installed and he would take care of it. He also told us that the tacky trim was the only way to cover the gaps around the window when installing replacement windows. Ive done my own construction for years and know that this is because of poor measurements. After arguing with me about it, I just put it aside (I shouldnt have because these windows have bothered us ever since the install). October 6th, 2018, we noticed a couple of the windows were sagging in the center and water marks on the inside of the windows, I called and emailed Dan that day to come look at them. He responded to me and said they would schedule a time to come out and look at them. He sent guys out on October 27th, when we werent home and said there was nothing wrong with the window. He said that the water was due to the caulking around the windows leaking from the new siding, so they re-caulked around them. The siding was done at least 2 years before he installed the windows in 2014. I called him back to meet me at the house, he missed our first appointment (no call no show) on a Thursday after I left work early. He made the second appointment on November 10th and looked them over only to agree they were sagging and this is covered under warranty. On January 7th I reached out to Dan via email only to hear back on January 22nd 2019 stating that it was the manufactures fault and he would resend the request to Simonton for warranty replacement. He also would hand deliver this warranty request today. He stated that we would be contacted by Simonton to resolve the warranty issue. Its now February 9th, 2019. Where are my windows Dan? Communication is key to customer service, I have only received cricket sounds for months unless I follow up.March 2019:I have received my windows sashes. They were dropped off on my front porch un announced on February 14th. Fortunately, I was home and noticed Dan off loading them and placing them on my front porch. With all the porch pirates today and crime happening in my area its a good thing I was home not knowing they were coming. I was unable to head outside at the time so I called him once I was in a situation to talk, this was within 5 minutes of him leaving. I was connect to his voice mail so I left a message. Later in the day I received an email from him, he wanted me to look the windows over for approval. I responded and asked for a date to have them installed. I still have not heard back from him and it is March 2nd. That is 5 months ago when this process started. I spoke with the window manufacture and found out that these windows were not ordered until the 4th of February, 3 months after this warranty claim started with Dan the Window Man. After my last review, I did hear from Mr. Dan The Window Man. He followed up with an email letting me know he was worried about his 4.5 rating and was disappointed that I would post his companies culture on Yelp. At this point he requested I remove my last review from Yelp and seemed less concerned about taking care of a customer in need of replacements for defective windows. Dan I am done, the manufacture has confirmed I no longer need you. I will never call or recommend you again.
